Dayboats in Asia: Chapter Three

SHARE

The third and final chapter of Yacht Style’s Dayboats in Asia feature shows the far-reaching appeal of Finnish brands Axopar and Saxdor.

AXOPAR’S AFFORDABLE ADVENTURE

Axopar, which bills itself as ‘The Adventure Company’, has spearheaded the global popularity of Nordic-styled adventure boats. Using twin-stepped hulls, the brand prides itself on producing high-performance driver’s boats, focused on speed, handling and seakeeping, while offering among the most modular and option-packed models in their sector.

“Axopar created the crossover segment: outboard-powered boats that combine the driving dynamics of a performance RIB with the comfort and usability of a cabin cruiser,” says Evita Sham, Axopar Brand Manager at Simpson Marine, the brand’s dealer in Hong Kong, mainland China and Indonesia since 2024.

Since debuting the Axopar 28 in 2014, the Finnish brand with production facilities in Poland has built over 7,500 boats, with the 28 and 37 lines accounting for most production to date. These iconic models have been succeeded by the all-new 29 in 2025 and all-new 38 this year, with the enclosed Cross Cabin version that debuted at Boot to be joined by open Sun Top and Cross Top editions.

The Axopar 29 and 37 have so far been the brand’s most popular models for clients of Simpson Marine, which has also delivered units from the 22, 25 and flagship 45 series across multiple markets. The company is confident the 38 will attract buyers in the region.

“The Axopar 38 Cross Cabin has significantly improved interior space and comfort, with a larger wheelhouse and bright forward cabin that supports overnighting and social use,” Sham says. “The modular layout and adaptable living areas mean owners can tailor spaces from seating to dining to sleeping.”

Axopar also focuses on affordability, with owners able to configure their boats from an enormous option list. Each series is available in multiple editions and with several layout options for the foredeck and aft deck including the option of a second cabin.

“This production efficiency keeps pricing competitive while offering tailored functionality. Axopar positions itself around an active, outdoor boating lifestyle rather than conventional luxury, which resonates strongly with younger and first-time boat owners entering the premium segment,” Sham says.

“The boats are also robust and safe; that’s a common feedback from our owners. In short, Axopar delivers practical performance boating with a modern, experience-driven ethos that differentiates it from both traditional cabin cruisers and pure dayboats.”

Axopar’s other dealers in the region include Derani Yachts (Thailand, Malaysia), Europa Yachts (Philippines), Amal Yachting (Taiwan) and Okazaki (Japan).

SAXDOR’S RAPID SUCCESS

In contrast, DCH Marine has managed Saxdor’s representation across Asia-Pacific since 2024, with the regional dealership stating that it has taken delivery of over 120 of the Finnish brand’s boats in the past two years.

“We’ve seen very strong retail momentum across the entire range and in most major Asian markets, with the 320 GTO and the 400 GTO/GTC models proving particularly successful,” says Ben Cadman, DCH Marine’s Saxdor representative.

Headquartered in Helsinki, Saxdor only debuted its first model in 2020 but has quickly soared in popularity, with its annual revenue rising 65 per cent to €180 million in 2025.

Acquired by Malibu Boats this year, Saxdor has almost 1,000 employees and produces about 700 boats a year at its facilities in Poland (Elk) and Finland (Larsmo). Saxdor produces multiple editions of each of its model lines, which now includes the flagship 460, debuting in its GTC edition at Boot 2026.

Saxdor 460 GTC

“We’ve seen plenty of existing clients reach out about Saxdor’s new models and we’ve taken deposits from Saxdor 400 owners for 460s due to arrive at the end of the year,” Cadman says. “It’s a natural step up for those who love the brand and want a bigger boat for longer trips or larger groups.”

Founded by designer Sakari Mattila, who founded or co-founded multiple shipyards including Aquator, Paragon, XO Boats and Axopar, Saxdor embodies the Nordic styling and performance associated with such brands but with added emphasis on drop-down balconies and flexible, indoor-outdoor social spaces.

“With Saxdor, you’re getting great performance and sharp design, but without jumping into the price bracket of some other brands. For a lot of our clients, Saxdor is about getting the most fun, functionality and style for your money. The fold-down terraces are a perfect example – hit a button and suddenly you’ve turned the boat into your own little beach club, with loads of extra space to hang out, swim and socialise,” Cadman says.

Saxdor 460 GTC

“The lifestyle around Saxdor is relaxed, stylish and a bit edgy: quick blasts out to the islands, tying up with friends, watersports in the afternoon and sundowners on the way home. It feels fresh and modern. That mix of clever features, strong value and a fun, social vibe connects with owners in Asia.”

GROWING SPACE FOR DAYBOATS

Joly, who heads Galeon at Asiamarine, agrees that the fast and fun approach to boating also holds great appeal in Asia, where the luxury yachting market has traditionally been associated with flybridge motoryachts.

“Our GTO/GTI buyers want a boat that’s fast enough to make the day easier and comfortable at anchor for lunch, swim and sunset. These boats allow owners to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle without ‘big yacht’ hassle,” he says.

Motoryacht, dayboat, Asia-Pacific, Axopar, Saxdor, Simpson Marine, DCH Marine, Asiamarine

Galeon 435 GTO

“They still offer proper overnight facilities with cabins, full heads and air-conditioning, so owners can do quick island weekends without moving up to a flybridge. They’re also less intimidating than a 50-60ft flybridge – easier to dock, easier to run, easier to staff.”

Araya, owner of Thailand’s newest DB/37, echoes such sentiments. “From what we understand about Thailand and many coastal destinations in Asia, the DB/37 fits the market because it matches how modern guests want to travel: fast enough to explore more yet refined enough to feel like a true yacht experience.

“The region is built for multi-stop day cruising. Whether it’s beaches, lagoons, bays for snorkelling or sunset viewpoints, guests typically want more than one destination in a day. A high-performance dayboat allows people to spend more time at destinations and less time in transit.”

Maritimo expands into Southeast Asia with Primus Marine

SHARE

The Australian shipyard’s full range of motoryachts will be represented by Primus Marine from the dealership’s bases in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Primus Marine

Maritimo, founded in Australia in 2003 by Bill Barry-Cotter, has expanded its presence across Southeast Asia by appointing Primus Marine as its authorised dealer in the region. Maritimo builds motoryachts from 50-75ft across its M-Series (Flybridge), S-Series (Sedan) and Offshore Series. Its recent models include the M50 and S60.

Derrick Nowak, Maritimo’s Global Business Development Manager, stated: “Southeast Asia is an important growth market for Maritimo, and what we’re seeing is a growing desire among owners to experience more than what’s accessible on a day trip – to travel further, stay longer and reach parts of the region that many boats simply aren’t designed for. That requires a different type of platform – one built around range, protection and reliability, which is exactly what Maritimo is known for.

“We’ve seen consistent enquiry from across the region in recent years, particularly from Thailand, and it was important for us to align with a partner who understands this and is committed to building the brand properly. Primus Marine has a strong track record across Southeast Asia, and together we’re well positioned to grow Maritimo’s presence here.”

Founded in 2024, Primus Marine has bases in Phuket and Pattaya in Thailand, and footholds in Singapore and Malaysia.

Maritimo M50

Howard Prime, CEO and co-founder of Primus Marine, added: “Maritimo is a highly respected name among experienced yacht owners, particularly those who value offshore capability, efficiency and long-range cruising. We see strong potential in Southeast Asia, where cruising conditions align closely with what Maritimo delivers. We are proud to represent the brand and look forward to building the market across the region.”

The new partnership will help showcase Maritimo’s range of engineering-led, long-range motoryachts at Singapore Yachting Festival 2026, taking place at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove from April 23-26.

The Italian shipyard has launched the first unit of its biggest yacht to date, designed by Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini.

Baglietto launched its flagship T60 in the presence of the owner and leading local and regional authorities. The first unit of the T60 represents the largest yacht ever built by the shipyard in its long history, since 1854.

The 60m, 1,100GT motoryacht is designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design, who also developed the interiors in collaboration with Margherita Casprini.

As well as the owner and his family and friends, attendees included the shipyard’s top management and the Gavio Group, owner of the brand. Civil, regional and military authorities were also in attendance.

VIPs included Edoardo Rixi, Italian Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport; Marco Bucci, President of the Liguria Region; Giacomo Raul Giampedrone, Regional Councillor for Civil Protection, and La Spezia officials including Pierluigi Peracchini (Mayor), Andrea Cantadori (Prefect) and Sebastiano Salvo (Chief of Police). Also present was Lorena Bianchetti, already godmother of the shipyard’s 170th anniversary, along with representatives of the Armed Forces.

Following speeches by the shipyard’s management, Mayor of La Spezia and President of the Liguria Region, tenor Amadi Lagha sang the Italian national anthem, Il Canto degli Italiani, before the yacht’s godmother performed the traditional bottle-breaking ceremony. The sound of trumpets then marked the moment when the yacht touched the water.

The ceremony was open to all Baglietto employees and their families, while numerous children from local primary and middle schools were also present.

Diego Michele Deprati, CEO of Baglietto, said: “This launch represents an extraordinary milestone for our shipyard and for all the people who work every day with passion to support Baglietto’s growth. A launch is always a moment of great emotion because it crowns years of work and marks the realization of a dream, the owner’s dream, which becomes our own. The emotion is also fuelled by the awareness of having written another milestone in the history of this glorious shipyard.

“A special thought goes to the many young people who attended the ceremony. We must look to them when we speak about the future of yachting: to their ideas, curiosity and ability to imagine the sea as a place of work, innovation and beauty. Our task is not only to build ever more ambitious yachts but also to create opportunities and skills for the new generations who will carry this tradition forward.”

The T60 represents an evolution of the T52, with highlights including full-height windows – fully retractable and entirely openable – in the main saloon and upper deck. The main saloon, dining room and beach area are conceived as one large, interconnected environment.

A beach lounge of approximately 60sqm, featuring a pool, bar, conversation area and gym, welcomes guests upon arrival and leads to the main saloon through an open staircase. The result is a two-level space of nearly 100sqm, complemented by a dining room with a fully opening glass wall.

On the first T60, the entire upper deck is dedicated to the owner. The owner’s suite is accessed from a central lobby where a glass elevator is also located. The suite includes a private office, walk-in wardrobe and a large bathroom with separate facilities. The sleeping area is surrounded by opening windows on three sides that lead directly to the private forward pool.

Aft, the lounge area opens onto the outdoor dining table through fully retractable glass walls. The private deck includes a Jacuzzi and a large sunbathing area.

Guest accommodation includes four cabins on the main deck — two VIP and two guest cabins — while a fifth cabin is located on the lower deck. The same deck also houses a massage room, a large galley designed for haute cuisine, and the crew quarters with crew mess, dinette and seven cabins for a total of 13 crew.

The wheelhouse is positioned on the sundeck, where the captain’s cabin, an additional dining area and large sunbathing areas both forward and aft are also located. The garage, situated at the bow of the main deck, can accommodate a 23ft tender, two jet-skis and a rescue tender. A touch-and-go helicopter platform is also located forward.

The T60 is equipped with two CAT 3512 engines that provide a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. The tank deck is dedicated to technical and service areas including storage spaces, a wine cellar, luggage storage and cold rooms.

Asiamarine, a representative of Fraser, is the authorised central sales agent for Baglietto in Asia.

“Launching the first CLB65 SUV is an important milestone for our team,” said Martin Lo, Director of CL Yachts. “This model expands our B-Series with a flexible layout well suited for owner operation while retaining the build quality and performance standards our clients expect.”

On the main deck, the aft deck, galley and saloon are arranged on a single level to create a continuous living area. Accommodation on the lower deck comprises a full-beam master stateroom, a VIP cabin and a convertible guest cabin.

The interior, designed by Supertomato Studio, adopts a contemporary approach with natural materials and understated detailing. Owners can select walnut or white oak finishes.

Twin Caterpillar C18 or Volvo Penta D13 diesel engines provide propulsion, with an expected top speed of 29-plus knots at half load. For enhanced maneuverability, the ZF JMS control system is available and can be operated from either wing station. Owners may choose RINA Hull Construction or CE Category B Class certification.

Carlos Alcaraz, the world’s top-ranked tennis player, is joining Sunreef’s prestigious list of celebrity yacht owners including compatriot Rafa Nadal, who won 22 Grand Slam men’s singles titles before retiring in 2024. Nadal (click for interview) received his 80 Sunreef Power in his native Mallorca in 2020.

Still only 22, Alcaraz is on his way to joining the all-time tennis greats, having this year won his seventh Grand Slam men’s singles title with his maiden Australian Open victory. The triumph in Melbourne completed a career Grand Slam for Alcaraz, who earlier won the French Open (2024, 2025), Wimbledon (2023, 2024) and US Open (2022, 2025).

Alcaraz has signed a contract for the construction of a fully customised Ultima 88, which Sunreef states marks the Spaniard’s entry into the world of luxury yachting. The new Ultima line of powercats, which started with the 55 that debuted last year, are built at Sunreef’s new production facility in Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE.

“I decided to order the Ultima 88 with Sunreef because I feel they are not only experts in luxury catamarans but true trendsetters,” Alcaraz said. “Building with them gives me confidence that this will be the perfect yacht to unwind and recharge. I feel that Sunreef and I share the same dynamic spirit — we are a great match.”

Complementing the Sunreef Power range (60, 70, 80, 100), now in its ‘Next’ generation, the Ultima series are slimmer and faster. Featuring a top speed of 26 knots, the Ultima 88 has an overall length of 88ft and a beam of 30ft, which is 5ft narrower than the 60 Sunreef Power Next. Alcaraz’s yacht will include a full-beam owner’s suite forward plus four guest cabins.

Designed with an active lifestyle in mind, the Ultima 88 features a spacious ‘Ocean Lounge’ at the stern. Featuring a large garage and hydraulic platform, the area provides direct access to storage for a jet-ski and watersports equipment, while unfolding side terraces expand the waterside zone.

Turning 23 on May 5, Alcaraz is the youngest of Sunreef’s celebrity owners, which include Nadal (39), current Barcelona and Poland footballer Robert Lewandowski (37) and two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso (44), currently racing for Aston Martin. Sunreef ambassadors have included explorer Mike Horn (59) and 2016 F1 world champion Nico Rosberg (40).

Francis Lapp, founder and President of Sunreef Yachts, stated: “Carlos is another remarkable personality joining the House of Sunreef – a community of visionary owners whose achievements inspire the world and bring fresh energy to the yachting lifestyle.”

Below is the provisional list of nominees for the 2026 edition of the Yacht Style Awards, which will be held in the Constellation Ballroom of ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove on April 22, on the eve of the Singapore Yachting Festival.

An acclaimed fixture in the yachting calendar, the lavish gala dinner will feature an invitation-only audience of over 300 VIPs, yacht owners and prospects including major personalities in the industry. It offers an opportunity for attendees to network and engage with yacht designs, trends and innovative solutions shaping the future of the industry.

Recognising the best of the yachting industry in the extended Asia region and internationally, this year’s Yacht Style Awards will feature over 30 categories, designed to showcase excellence and creative flair in the industry both regionally and internationally.

Criteria for the yacht categories include innovation, design, build quality, environmental responsibility, owner experience, personal achievements and a focus on the Asia market.

For most yacht-related categories, the focus is on shipyards with representation in Asia. Models should have had a world premiere at a major boat show around the world or a leading Asia-Pacific show after last year’s Singapore Yachting Festival in April 2025.

Overall lengths are used for most boat categories, except for sailboats, where hull length is used. No nominees are listed for the Lifetime Achievement Award, although multiple candidates are being considered.

Dayboats in Asia: Chapter Two

The second chapter of Yacht Style’s Dayboats in Asia feature reveals the appeal of Nimbus and Galeon models, and new representation for Pardo and Wellcraft.

NIMBUS BUILDS ON HERITAGE

Nimbus T11

Now approaching its 60th anniversary, Nimbus is a Swedish icon and in the 1980s collaborated with tennis star Bjorn Borg. However, the shipyard only found a strong footing in this region from 2021 when it appointed Asiamarine as its dealer in multiple markets including Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

Headquartered in Gothenburg, Nimbus has a rich heritage, embodied by its iconic Coupé line, but has found recent success with the open Tender (T), semi-enclosed Weekender (W) and enclosed Commuter (C) series, all using shared platforms (8, 9, 11, 12). Asiamarine has sold about 30 Nimbus boats, with the 11 series providing the most popular models to date.

Motoryacht, dayboat, Asia-Pacific, Nimbus, Galeon, Pardo, Wellcraft

Nimbus T11

“Nimbus is made for real boat connoisseurs, experienced owners who truly understand why Nimbus stands out in this segment,” says Guillaume Andrebe, Asiamarine’s Brand Manager for Nimbus.

“These owners have usually owned boats before and turn to Nimbus for stronger, more durable construction that lasts for years. They particularly appreciate the superior build quality, exceptional all-weather seaworthiness, intelligent functionality, and high-end materials like solid-wood interiors and refined upholstery.”

Motoryacht, dayboat, Asia-Pacific, Nimbus, Galeon, Pardo, Wellcraft

Nimbus W11

The 11 series models have an overall length of 40ft 7in, making them 10ft longer than the 9 series (30ft 8in).

“The size of the 11 series is the perfect sweet spot for the Asian market,” Andrebe says. “They can be equipped like no other boats in this category, with hydraulic platform, gyro stabilisers, air-conditioning and more. All this equipment combined with the renowned Nimbus build quality give you a dayboat with a ‘real yacht’ feeling.”

This year, Nimbus launched the 12 series with the world premieres of the T12, W12 and C12 at Boot Düsseldorf. The models share the same twin-stepped, air-lubricated hull as the 11 series but it’s now further stiffened by vacuum infusion, while an extended swim platform gives the boats a 41ft 7in LOA.

Nimbus 12 series

As well as being a foot longer, the new models incorporate over 200 upgrades including the introduction of a balcony and a bigger, upgraded T-top on the T11.

Two 300hp Mercury Verado V8 outboard engines are offered as standard, with 425hp Mercury Verado V10s as an upgrade, while a wraparound hydraulic swim platform is among options. The C12 and T12 are also available with inboards – two 320hp Volvo Penta D4-DPI engines.

“For the 12 series, Nimbus incorporated everything they learnt from owners and their experience to provide the ultimate dayboats,” Andrebe says.

GALEON’S GRAND TOURERS

Asiamarine’s anchor brand is Galeon, which it has represented in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand since 2016 before being appointed in late 2022 to oversee other dealers in the region under the Galeon Asia network.

The Polish shipyard is best known for its transformer-style flybridge motoryachts, having pioneered drop-down sides in the 40-70ft segment while also introducing waterside bars and revolving cockpit seats.

Galeon 435 GTO

However, in collaboration with US distributor MarineMax, Galeon introduced its Grand Touring Outboards series with the 325 GTO in early 2021. The one-balcony, two-cabin boat soon found a market beyond Florida and by the end of the year Asiamarine had delivered a unit to an owner in Hong Kong.

The range quickly expanded with the 375 GTO in 2022, 435 GTO in 2024 and inboard 435 GTI in 2025, each offering two drop-down balconies and speeds of 45-50 knots depending on engines. The series is already being renewed, with the 335 GTO debuting in Cannes last year to succeed the 325 GTO. This year, a new 435 GTI arrived in Hong Kong following earlier sales by Asiamarine of the 375 GTO and multiple units of the 325 GTO.

Galeon 435 GTI

“The 435’s inboard version with Volvo Penta’s IPS or DPI engines and joystick is a fantastic boat, with a hydraulic bathing platform among options,” says Asiamarine’s Michel Joly, Regional Dealership Manager. “The new 335 GTO is a fantastic, affordable dayboat that’s also attracting interest.”

Galeon’s GTO/GTI boats are an appealing option for owners looking to make the most out of boating for a day. As well as the signature aft deck space and Galeon’s signature moveable, flexible furniture, all models include a bow with U-shaped seating that can be converted into a sunpad.

Both 435 models have a three-panel sliding door and can be completely enclosed, allowing for an air-conditioned interior, while the 375 GTO now also has this appealing option. Depending on the models, features and options include an opening sunroof and side windows, and an electric aft awning, important for owners in Asia.

Galeon 375 GTO

“Our clients love the ‘dayboat first’ energy of the GTO/GTI series and that it comes with real comfort. Owners get maximum lifestyle and fun per metre because the entertaining space feels larger than the boat’s length suggests. It feels like a floating beach club because of the easy water access and big cockpit with balconies that make the boat bigger at anchor,” Joly says.

“There’s so much to like. They have a sporty look but a real yacht build quality, while all the technology, from the sound systems and LED lightings to the galley equipment, is premium. Plus, they’re suitable for Asia because they can be fully open, shaded or even enclosed with air-con.”

PARDO BRINGS ITALIAN STYLE

As if it wasn’t offering enough dayboat options, Asiamarine is now also representing both Italy’s Pardo Yachts and Wellcraft, the American brand owned by Groupe Beneteau.

Pardo 43 (2025 edition)

Pardo is a true luxury dayboat pioneer. Created by Cantiere del Pardo, builder of Grand Soleil sailing yachts since 1973, Pardo debuted the shipyard’s first motorboat, the P43, in 2017. With an upgraded model of the same name debuting last year, the model has sold over 330 units and helped put the Italian brand at the forefront of the luxury dayboat sector.

The outboard version, the P43R, debuted at this year’s Miami International Boat Show and can top 50 knots with the upgrade option of triple 600hp Mercury Verado V12s.

Pardo’s other Walkaround models include the P38, P38R and P50, while larger, enclosed models are represented by the sporty GT series (GT52, GT65, GT75) and long-range Endurance line (E60, E72).

Motoryacht, dayboat, Asia-Pacific, Nimbus, Galeon, Pardo, Wellcraft

Pardo 38

Asiamarine represents the brand in many of the region’s key markets (excluding Thailand) and kicked off its partnership with the sale of a P38 that’s scheduled to arrive in the second quarter, to be followed by an open day. The dealership is also organising visits for clients and prospects to see the brand’s models at international shows.

“Delivering on our early momentum and client interest, we sold a P38 and are in discussions with several promising clients. We’re actively promoting the new P43 and P43R, organising exclusive viewings for clients,” says Florian Paludetto, Asiamarine’s Brand Manager for Pardo.

Motoryacht, dayboat, Asia-Pacific, Nimbus, Galeon, Pardo, Wellcraft

Pardo 38

“Pardo is growing in popularity in the region. Owners are drawn to the distinctive Italian design and the effortless dolce vita vibe – that thrilling, carefree Mediterranean lifestyle of sun-drenched decks, seamless indoor-outdoor flow, and social spaces that feel luxurious yet relaxed.”

While the Pardo brand launched straight into the heart of the luxury dayboat sector, Wellcraft only steered into it recently, having been founded in 1955 and become best-known for its offshore fishing boats, now produced under the Fisherman series.

WELLCRAFT GROWING WISE

Owned by Groupe Beneteau since 2014, Wellcraft moved into the luxury dayboat sector by using the same designers Jeanneau did for its DB Yachts range: American Michael Peters for the hull and Italian Camillo Garroni for the concept and styling.

Wellcraft 38 T-Top

Starting with the debut of the 38 Explorer (formerly 355) in 2022, it then added the 44 Explorer (formerly 435) the following year and the open 38 T-Top in 2024.

However, for its new 28 series launched this year, Wellcraft partnered with Navia, the renowned stepped-hull specialist, for design and naval architecture.

In addition, Groupe Beneteau is producing the 28 series with Wellcraft Infujection Structure Engineering (WISE), which combines resin infusion and injection moulding to create the hull and stringers as one integrated piece, producing a significantly lighter, stiffer and stronger structure.

Wellcraft 28 T-Top (foreground) and 28 Explorer

In January, Wellcraft staged the global debuts of the 28 Explorer and 28 T-Top at Boot, to be followed by the 28 Speedster, with the models touted to top 50 knots.

“With the new WISE technology, the Wellcraft 28 planes faster, accelerates harder and runs drier with better efficiency,” says Andrebe, who also manages Wellcraft at Asiamarine.

Representing Wellcraft in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand, Asiamarine has ordered a 28 T-Top, 28 Explorer and 38 T-Top, which could all arrive in the third quarter and potentially exhibit at this year’s Hong Kong International Boat Show at Club Marina Cove.

Motoryacht, dayboat, Asia-Pacific, Nimbus, Galeon, Pardo, Wellcraft

Wellcraft 38 T-Top

“Scandinavian-style adventure boats have surged in popularity across the region in recent years,” Andrebe says. “Wellcraft’s new generation of dayboats offer remarkable versatility and let owners select configurations that perfectly match their lifestyle, whether it’s pure dayboat fun, weekend getaways, offshore fishing or extended adventures.”

Premium dayboats are not as widespread in Asia as they are in the Mediterranean and Florida, but each year more exciting new models arrive in the region and more of the sector’s leading builders appoint local dealers.

Dreamer Marine’s Jeanneau DB/37 in Maya Bay

When you see Dreamer Marine’s blue-hulled Jeanneau DB/37 anchored by a white-sand beach near Phuket and surrounded by tropical-green forest, it’s easy to think that Southeast Asia is the ideal home for the new wave of luxury dayboats.

Araya Banlang, the boat’s owner, believes so. Her DB/37 was among the most talked-about yachts at this year’s Thailand Boat Festival, with the four-day event at Phuket Boat Lagoon also marking the official launch of Dreamer Marine, the charter and yacht-share company founded by Araya.

“We wrapped the hull in a distinctive blue to make the positioning unmistakable and to build instant recall as the best dayboat charter in Phuket,” she says. “The result was immediate, as it was one of the most talked-about boats at the show in the 30-40ft category.”

Araya ordered the DB/37 through Jeanneau dealer Boat Lagoon Yachting, which hosted the boat as part of its in-water display during the show.

“Watching visitors walk past, pause and turn back for a second look, we knew we had made the right call,” Araya continues. “Brokers and professionals in the yachting community repeatedly described the concept as a brilliant idea – a fresh, modern way to stand out in a crowded market where many boats can look similar at first glance.”

FAST, FUN AND POPULAR

Thailand, Japan and Australia are all home to multiple yachts from the DB Yachts series, which was introduced in 2022 and currently comprises the DB/37 and DB/43, each available with inboard or outboard engines.

Premium dayboats have been enjoying a new surge of popularity in recent years. While many leading builders of 60ft-plus motoryachts focused less on speed and more on volume and deck space, a fresh demand emerged for stylish, fast boats that could reach beaches and islands quickly, and offer an open platform for sunbathing, watersports and socialising. With a decent cabin or two and full bathroom facilities, overnight stays can also be part of the plan.

Axopar debuted its first boat in 2014 and its best-selling model lines have sold in the thousands, while the success of Saxdor, which premiered its first boat in 2020, further underlined Finnish brands as a new customer favourite. Sweden’s Nimbus, dating back to 1968, revelled in the new popularity of Nordic styling, offering multiple versions of its 8, 9, 11 and now 12 series with inboard and outboard options.

Invictus ST550

In Italy, Pardo and Invictus have both driven and benefited from the sector’s growing appeal since entering the market about a decade ago.

And all this time, the big companies were watching. Post-Covid, Galeon debuted its GTO series of ‘grand touring outboards’, initially focused on the US but proving popular around the world. Sunseeker debuted the Superhawk 55, the smallest model in its fleet. Brunswick Group created a new dayboat brand, Navan.

Groupe Beneteau responded with multiple new offerings, launching Jeanneau’s DB Yachts line and Wellcraft’s Explorer series before recently reinventing Beneteau’s Gran Turismo range.

Even if the numbers of such boats in Asia are far from those seen cruising around the Mediterranean or powering off the Florida coastline, all these brands are now represented in Asia, with many models already here and many more coming.

BENETEAU’S JAPANESE INFLUENCE

Beneteau’s new-look Gran Turismo series started with the 35 and 40 models that debuted at the Cannes Yachting Festival last September. In late November, the 50 was shown at the Paris Nautic Show before making its ‘international’ premiere at this year’s Boot Düsseldorf show in Germany.

Styled by Italy’s Andreani Design, the Gran Turismo models are inspired by Japanese design principles: yūgen (grace) influencing the exterior and kanso (simplicity) infusing the interiors. Beneteau describes the boats as ‘luxury crossover cruisers’.

Howard Prime, co-founder and CEO of Primus Marine, Beneteau’s Thailand dealer since late 2024, is convinced the new-generation Gran Turismo models are an ideal fit for their target market.

“The new Gran Turismo models are the epitome of the luxury dayboat feel. It’s a great sports range, with a sleek design and great seakeeping,” Prime says. “The versatile folding terraces significantly widen the usable aft deck space, offering an ideal platform for warm, calm Thai waters. They also have nice accommodation, suitable for short getaways.”

Beneteau Gran Turismo 40 and 35

NextWave Yachting, which started representing Beneteau’s motorboats in early 2024, describes the three new Gran Turismo motorboats as a “big jump” compared to the former models.

“They’re more luxurious, use premium materials and the overall quality is better. The design is more modern, sleek and sporty, and the hull is very efficient and stable,” says Jeffrey Chan, NextWave’s co-founder and Sales Director.

“They also have a lot more exterior space, especially when you open the side balconies at anchor, as this makes the aft cockpit a lot more spacious.”

Chan says appealing options include inboard or outboard engines, and a gyro for the 40 and 50. And although there’s a significant variety in size, he says the three models have a consistent, family feel. “The models differ by length, space and number of cabins, but the design theory is the same.”

INVICTUS AIMING HIGH

NextWave has represented Invictus (29-55ft) and sister brand Capoforte (20-28ft) in Hong Kong since 2023, with all models designed by Christian Grande and built by Cantieri Aschenez in the Calabria region of southern Italy.

Invictus ST550

As well as Capoforte models, NextWave has sold the GT280 – the updated version of the first Invictus model, which debuted in 2015 – in both inboard and outboard (GT280S) versions. “Invictus yachts are distinguished by their design, build quality and detailing,” Chan says.

The TT280, GT320, GT370 and TT420 are also offered with inboard or outboard engines, while it’s inboard only for the TT460, which was upgraded last year, then shown in its Shell Edition at Boot Düsseldorf this January.

However, Invictus’s biggest leap came last year when it moved into a new market sector with its joint flagships, the TT550 and the ST550, the brand’s first enclosed model. The 17m motoryachts both debuted at Cannes, feature teak, mahogany and stainless steel, and are roughly twice the price of the TT460.

Invictus TT550

Available with either twin Volvo Penta IPS800 or IPS950 engines, both models are customisable through Atelier Invictus, the brand’s in-house creative workshop.

Rosario Alcaro, founder and General Manager of Invictus, explains: “The creation of these two models has been a significant challenge a decade after the opening of Cantieri Aschenez. Our company has grown in production capacity, experience and expertise. The ST550 and TT550 embody the evolved synthesis of this journey.”

The brand’s all-new sailing catamaran is also available through a budget-friendly yacht ownership programme via The Moorings or Sunsail.

As the successor to the Leopard 42, the all-new Leopard 43 will have its worldwide debut at this year’s Cannes Yacht Festival from September 8-13, followed by its US premiere at the Annapolis Sailboat Show from October 15-18. The Leopard 46 and 52 had their global debuts at the Cannes show in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

The Leopard 43 will also be released in charter-ready versions for The Moorings and Sunsail – Leopard Catamarans’ sister companies within Travelopia – which each offer a popular Yacht Ownership Program. The model will also be produced as the Moorings 4300, available with three or four cabins, and the Sunsail 434, a four‑cabin version.

Franck Bauguil, Travelopia’s Senior Vice President of Yacht Ownership & Product Development, stated: “With the Leopard 43, we took everything that defines Leopard sailing DNA – space, performance, visibility and circulation – and pushed it further. The result is a yacht that feels more open, more connected and more rewarding to sail, while remaining unmistakably true to our blue‑water cruising heritage.”

Built in South Africa by Robertson and Caine, and designed in collaboration with naval architects Simonis Voogd Yacht Design, the Leopard 43 features an all-new, wave‑piercing hull with reverse bows and an expanded rig.

Compared to the 42, the 43 features a 3ft-taller mast and a 12 per cent increase in upwind sail area, “delivering improved power, efficiency and handling across a wide range of conditions”, according to Leopard. For private owners, the yacht is available with a composite longeron in addition to the traditional aluminum bowsprit, allowing for the retrofit of Code 0 and Code D after market.

Michael Robertson, Robertson and Caine’s Design Manager, commented: “The Leopard 43 reflects our focus on improving performance without compromising comfort. From hull form and rig proportions to weight distribution and deck layout, every decision was made to enhance the sailing experience and onboard liveability.”

The yacht can generate up to 1,365W of clean energy through integrated glass solar panels aft of the coachroof lounge, which has been repositioned forward, adjacent to the starboard helm. This solar output represents a significant increase over the Leopard 42 and eliminates the need for a heavy stainless‑steel solar arch.

Building on the indoor‑outdoor living concept introduced on the Leopard 46 and 52, the 43 features aligned indoor and outdoor dining areas that can form one long, connected entertaining zone or be completely separated by closing the sliding glass door.

The forward saloon door, another of Leopard’s signature features, is retained on the Leopard 43 and is complemented by a new upholstered settee in the foredeck that adds a protected seating area.

Inside the saloon, expansive wraparound windows benefit from the absence of traditional structural obstructions, increasing visibility and natural light in the interior. Leopard describes the saloon’s panoramic glazing as “one of the most distinctive design advancements in this size category”.

Asiamarine has announced the first sale of a new Lagoon 60 sailing catamaran in Asia-Pacific region following a purchase by an owner based in Thailand.

The Lagoon 60 transaction was completed in mid-March during the Lagoon Exclusive Days in Bordeaux, where the shipyard named Asiamarine as Asia Pacific Best Dealer 2025 during the international dealers meeting.

The Lagoon 60 owner will take delivery of the yacht at the Bordeaux shipyard and plans to navigate the Mediterranean before embarking on a long-range passage to bring the vessel home to Thailand, home to an annual Lagoon Escapade event organised by Asiamarine.

Alexandre Tricot, Lagoon Brand Manager at Asiamarine, stated: “Lagoon has long been the benchmark for catamarans in Thailand, favoured for its volume and reliability in our tropical waters. The sale of the first Lagoon 60 in the region is a pivotal moment. It signals a shift toward larger, more sophisticated yachts that offer true transoceanic autonomy.

“We are grateful for the trust our owners and partners place in us to facilitate these global journeys. Their confidence inspires us to keep raising the bar in yacht sales and service.”

The ambitious maiden voyage highlights the owner’s trust in the Lagoon 60’s offshore capabilities. With a hull design optimised for stability and comfort for extended range, the yacht is engineered to handle the varied sea states encountered during a multi-continent transit.
