Azimut staged the private preview of its Seadeck 9 at the ‘Sun, Sand & Stars’ event in Costa Smeralda in northeast Sardinia, where about 200 owners, family members and guests enjoyed a special weekend including an exclusive gala dinner at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

In the daytime, the Seadeck 9 (84ft) was moored with a Seadeck 7 (71ft 2in) and Seadeck 6 (56ft 7in) by the Vesper Beach Club in Capriccioli. During the all-day ‘Beach & Sea Experience’ at the beachside venue, guests were able to visit the yachts, while other entertainment included Awake electric surfboards, Seabobs and a Garmin golf simulator.

In the evening, all three Seadeck models were available for tours at Marina di Porto Cervo, where guests could also inspect six other Azimut models: the Grande Trideck (38m), Grande 26M, Fly 82, Fly 62, Magellano 66 and Magellano 60.

However, the Seadeck 9 was the star of the event, as the third model in a series featuring exterior design by Alberto Mancini and interiors by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez. With an overall length of (25.6m) and a beam of 20ft 8in, the Seadeck 6 has the same width as the Grande 26M and is just 2½ feet shorter, but offers a completely different proposition – one dedicated to the ‘gentle era’.

Like the Seadeck 6 and 7, the all-new 9 is distinguished by its ‘Fun Island’, the open area aft of the saloon. The large open cockpit includes aft-facing sofas and drop-down sides that can be fitted with a hammock, while the Seadeck 9 is the first model in the series to include a plunge pool.

Three steps lead down to a fixed swim platform, big enough to accommodate multiple sunbeds, while a third level is added by a large 7sqm transformer platform with integrated steps that can bring guests and water toys to the water.

The yacht’s outdoor areas include a covered flybridge with a full-width sunbathing area aft, a dining table and outdoor bar and galley, plus a two-seat helm station, while the foredeck offers another lounging area.

Forward of the ‘Fun Island’, doors slide out of sight to create a huge opening into the saloon and dining area, where huge full-height windows on both sides and a generous ceiling height creates a spacious, relaxed atmosphere and offers expansive sea views.

The interior is offered with the warmer option of a walnut grain or a lighter alternative in pale oak, while furniture on hull one includes a Bonacina bamboo chair selected by Thun & Rodriguez.

The lower deck includes a full-beam master suite with a spa-like aura including integrated washbasins to starboard, while a writing desk built into the bookcase underlines a yacht made for significant time aboard. The accommodation includes a forward VIP and two guest cabins, while there are also berths for three crew.

Part of Azimut’s Low Emission Yacht family, Seadeck 9 features another platform specially developed for the Seadeck series with Names. The shipyard has described it as “one of the most efficient planing hulls that Azimut has ever designed”.

Allowing the boat to plane early means Seadeck 9 can cruise efficiently at lower speeds, while also extending the range of speeds that offer peak fuel efficiency.

With carbon-fibre used in 40 per cent of the yacht to reduce weight, and a triple Volvo Penta IPS installation compatible with hybrid electric technology, Azimut states that fuel consumption and emissions are reduced by up to 30 per cent in an average year of use compared to vessels of comparable size with a traditional hull and shaft-line propulsion system.

In addition, Seadeck 9 includes Azimut’s advanced Hotel Mode, allowing the yacht to operate in complete silence (with the generators switched off) for up to four hours during the day and eight hours at night. Hotel Mode includes the operation of key systems including air-conditioning, stabilisers, occasional galley use, 220V sockets and digital entertainment.

The dedicated 60 kWh lithium battery pack recharges fully in just five hours from shore power or four hours via the generator, boasting a lifespan of over 3,500 cycles for up to 10 years of reliable service.

The Seadeck 9 is the largest yacht ever built at Azimut’s production facility in Avigliana, where 50 million has been invested in the Turin shipyard and headquarters.
