Incorporating design cues from her big sisters, the sailing catamaran’s notable features include an enhanced flybridge and a forward saloon door to a mostly solid foredeck.
Lagoon is scheduled to host the world premiere of the Lagoon 47 at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival from September 8-13.
Featuring exteriors and naval architecture by France’s VPLP Design and interiors by Italian studio Nauta Design, the sailing cat has an overall length of 49ft 1in, based on a 45ft 10in hull with a 26ft 1in beam, while the rig includes 128sqm of upwind sail area.
Incorporating “over 200 reviews, ideas and wishes” from Lagoon owners, the catamaran includes a range of new features.
On the flybridge, the helm has been repositioned to improve visibility for the skipper and improve communication. On the port side of the fly, a forward-facing C-shaped dinette and a forward sunbathing area offer an extensive social and lounging area under a tall hardtop.
However, arguably the yacht’s most notable feature is the forward saloon door to the 12sqm foredeck, a new first for the shipyard in this size range. Lagoon has included a foredeck door on its 60, Sixty 5 and Eighty 2, the latter debuting at the Cannes show last September and winning the Sailing Catamaran Above 18m category at Yacht Style Awards 2026 this April.
The foredeck on the Lagoon 47 is notable for being predominantly solid, so offers a much larger socialising area than on the 46. Seating and lounging is available on a three-sided sofa and a table to starboard, as well as a chaise longue to port.
VPLP Design’s Mathias Maurios stated: “The spacious forward cockpit, accessed via a door at the front of the saloon, provides a comfortable and welcoming relaxation area. It’s the ideal place to spend some time with family and friends after a full day out on the water.”
Aft, the 16sqm covered cockpit also offers increased seating, with the port and starboard sofas extending around the superstructure to offer additional aft-facing seating.
Guests can sit and face forward on the wide aft sofa, which includes a reclining backrest that allows guests to also face aft over the central platform and water.
A large sliding glass door opens to the saloon, which has a galley to port and lounge to starboard, and is the centrepiece of a main deck offering over 40sqm of living space.
For interior décor, owners can choose between the pastel-hued Panarea, evoking “the tranquillity of the ocean at sunset”, or Sorrento’s “bright and vibrant summer atmosphere”.
For accommodation, owners can choose three, four or five cabins. The starboard hull can feature two en-suite cabins or a full-length master suite with an aft bed and a forward bathroom including two washbasins.
The port full features fore and aft en-suite cabins with window-facing beds, as well as a midships ‘smart room’ that can be configured as an en-suite cabin, walk-in wardrobe or utility room.
Massimo Gino, Nauta Design’s co-founder, said: “The Lagoon 47 is designed to enhance the connection with nature, to create a fluid dialogue with the horizon, and offer a pure experience of light and open space.
“We’re redefining interior designs, moving beyond the traditional style of a catamaran to achieve a more refined aesthetic, close to that of a superyacht.”
