A Lagoon 55 will be home to the Escape to Nature crew in Melanesia

Lagoon has partnered with Escape to Nature as the latter embarks on a five-year schedule of documentary film production across Melanesia in the South Pacific. In late 2022, a Lagoon 55 will sail from Brisbane in Australia to Papua New Guinea for the first of five seasons of filming.

After staying in Papua New Guinea – which borders eastern Indonesia – to late 2023, the Lagoon 55 will host the production team in the Solomon Islands (2023-24), Vanuatu (2024-2025), New Caledonia (2025-26) and finally Fiji (2026-27).

Filming will begin in Papua New Guinea in late 2022

Lagoon stated: “The meeting with the Escape to Nature team became quickly more than a partnership, turning into a shared adventure. Lagoon and Escape to Nature have a common goal: to promote actions for a cleaner maritime world and more environmentally respectful nautical activities. Filming this human adventure and sharing scientific data with the public is a good way to raise awareness about the beauty of our planet and the areas threatened by climate change.

Lagoon Brand Director Thomas Gailly (far left) toasts with Libor Spacek and Petra Dolezalova

“In total respect for the environment and local population, the Escape to Nature team will work to contribute to protecting the oceans, coral reefs and all underwater life through enlightening films: shots of wildlife, stories of their own, and in-depth interviews with people in the most remote parts of the earth.”

Lagoon is partnering Escape to Nature

The French catamaran builder, part of Groupe Beneteau, supported the choice of the Lagoon 55, a new model that only had its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

Escape to Nature has chosen the new Lagoon 55 as the platform for this project and the crew members will benefit from the total autonomy they need to spend long periods in the Pacific Ocean, with full independence from port moorings,” Lagoon stated.

Libor Spacek, founder of Escape to Nature, in Papua New Guinea

“The Lagoon 55 is the perfect boat to discover unexplored areas of the world, as the Escape to Nature team will be doing. The catamaran will be a comfortable home to its team for at least eight months per year in remote areas where the usual support from the ‘civilised’ mainland would be difficult.”

Three episodes will be filmed in each country for a total of 15 television and online documentaries in 4K resolution, while plans include a feature documentary for distribution to cinemas. The project will also include photographs, exhibitions and presentations through VR.

Petra Dolezalova of Escape to Nature

Escape to Nature, a production company led by Libor Spacek and Petra Dolezalova, stated: “We plan to work with conservation organisations, marine biologists and scientists to research and monitor these adverse effects on marine life and nature on the remote Melanesia archipelagos in the Pacific.

“We focus on monitoring the impacts of climate changes on marine life and ocean pollution. Currently the world is experiencing the most significant loss of biodiversity on our planet.”

VP Yachts staged a lively handover of a Leopard 42 to its owner, who invited his long-time friends from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for the special occasion. The Leopard 42 had its world premiere at this year’s Palm Beach International Boat Show in March and is the owner’s first sailing catamaran, having previously owned two boats including a 45ft motor yacht.

Before the group took a sail, the handover included a presentation of the yacht, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a champagne celebration and even a video chat with Phuket-based Kit Chotithamaporn, Asia Regional Manager for Leopard Catamarans, and Brian Zhuang of Shenzhen-based dealer Omnia Marine, who had ordered the stock boat.

“The client was the first person to view the yacht. He had looked around at other sailing catamaran models, then Ben (his broker) saw that the Leopard 42 was immediately available. He’s such a nice client and the whole process from viewing to handover was an awesome experience.”

Host of the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, the Gold Coast marina has unveiled the first covered berths in Australia.

Sanctuary Cove Marina, host of the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, has unveiled almost 50 covered berths.

Sanctuary Cove Marina has unveiled 48 covered marina berths, which the Gold Coast facility says are a first in the southern hemisphere. The 303-berth marina hosts the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, which will next be held from May 19-22, 2022.

The 14.5m (48ft) covered berths represent the final stage of the marina’s multi-million-dollar upgrade and have generated strong demand, with most of the spaces reserved during the construction period.

Sanctuary Cove Marina, host of the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, has unveiled almost 50 covered berths.

Steve Sammes, General Manager of Sanctuary Cove Marina, said: “The feedback from both boat owners and industry leaders has been astounding. We are elated to have been able to develop unique world-class facilities on the Gold Coast that have caught the eye of the industry internationally.

“These new additions to the marina are truly putting the Gold Coast on the map as a must-visit location, attracting a high calibre of tourists and vessel owners that seek out premium facilities and will invest in the Gold Coast community when they arrive.”

Sanctuary Cove Marina, host of the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, has unveiled almost 50 covered berths.

The protective sails were designed to integrate with Sanctuary Cove’s distinct aesthetic, with the shade structures resembling “ribbons in the breeze”.

Andy Vollmer, Superior Jetties’ Commercial Project Manager, said the structures of the covered berths provided a unique challenge, as the first of their kind in Australia.

“We didn’t have a blueprint to follow or marina to copy, which meant we had to find innovative construction solutions to complete structures in or above the water that would normally be completed on land,” Vollmer said.

Sanctuary Cove Marina, host of the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, has unveiled almost 50 covered berths.

“The creation of such a cutting-edge marina was almost three years in the making, with countless hours of drafting, engineering revisions and multiple designs

“We took every measure to ensure the facilities would integrate perfectly into the precinct and provide the type of protection and care required by these luxury vessels, such as the superyachts we welcome regularly. We are so proud to finally see the structure come to fruition.”

Sanctuary Cove Marina, host of the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, has unveiled almost 50 covered berths.

Superior Jetties worked closely with sub-contractor Vector Shade Structures, which said a total of 275 tonnes of steel was used across the entire project. Each sail weighs 3.5 tonnes and uses Valmex® FR 700 from German company Mehler Texnologies to create “a 100 per cent waterproof fabric that blocks out light and UV transmission”.

Sam Burke, owner and Director of Vector Shade Structures, said: “We look forward to seeing the shades become a pillar of the marine community and have the stunning ribbon-resemblant structure become a Gold Coast landmark.”

Sanctuary Cove Marina, host of the annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, has unveiled almost 50 covered berths.

As well as the marina, the Sanctuary Cove complex features residences, The Marine Village shopping and dining precinct, two 18-hole championship golf courses, a country club including fitness centre, tennis courts and swimming pool, and the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.

The Prestige X60 is scheduled to have its official world premiere at the Miami International Boat Show from February 16-20, 2022. Like all other Prestige models, the X60 was designed by Garroni Design, which developed the innovative X70 that pioneered the brand’s new X-Line.

Measuring 61ft 4in overall with a beam of 15ft 11in, the X60 has a similar stern to her bigger sister with a long swim platform featuring a large drop-down sofa, overlooked by a clear balustrade on the main deck. Like the X70, the X60 has an extra-long covered cockpit area, which features an island sunpad while there’s also the option of a dining table.

While the X70 has no side passageways until near the foredeck, the X60 features one passageway to port. The saloon can be open to the elements on two sides, with sliding doors aft and on the aft port side.

Inside are facing sofas and starboard stairs to the master suite, while forward is an open, full-beam galley, the helm to starboard, stairs to the guest cabins and a raised L-shaped sofa in the port corner.

Joachim Isler and Andrew Taylor’s Mills 41 Ambush was first to finish this year’s Sun Hung Kai & Co Around the Island Race, followed by Tiffany and Jeremy Koo’s Ker 42 Custom Seawolf in the 26nm circumnavigation of Hong Kong Island. Hong Kong’s largest annual celebration of sail featured 228 boats from 14 classes including seven one-design classes, sportsboats, HKPN, IRC, dinghies and beach catamarans.

With the race starting in picture-perfect conditions under a beautiful blue sky, Race Officer David Norton set two start lines off Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s Kellett Island Clubhouse. The line closest to Kellett Island was used for starting the day boats, with the outside line for the cruisers, racer and beach catamaran divisions.

The first start was at 08:30 with the Pandoras, HKPN Monohulls and Multihull Cruisers setting off in a northeasterly breeze of around 8-10 knots. By the completion of the 21 start sequences, the breeze had built up to 15 knots, ideal for the 11:00 start for the quickest yachts, the Fast Fleet 3, consisting of three TP52s and the Trimaran 40 Carbon 3.

Members of the public gathered at the newly opened East Coast Park precinct to watch the amazing spectacle of sail, which presented a breathtaking sight from either land, sea or sky.

The steady breeze in the harbour enabled the fleet to sail effortlessly through Lei Yue Mun gap and enjoy a fresh 15-knot northeasterly by Shek O and Stanley, where hundreds of colourful spinnakers could be seen highlighting the horizon.

A softening breeze by noon slowed and compressed the fleet as they approached the notoriously low-wind section of the course between Ap Lei Chau and Cyberport. With 6 knots of breeze making for slow progress through the Cyberport Gate, the fleet made for the final turning mark into the harbour and on to the finish.

Ambush was the first boat to cross the line at Kellett Island at 13:41 followed by Seawolf and Quest, Helmuth Hennig and David Kong’s Mills 41. Brian Tsang’s Hobie 16 Curry crossed the finishing line in eighth place, with Frank Van Kempen’s Etchells King of the Pin the first Class boat to finish.

“It’s our first line honours for the ATIR. We almost didn’t stop at all save for some 40-odd seconds, which is a big difference from last year’s experience,” said Ambush’s co-skippers, who described it as one of the best years in terms of wind conditions for the Around the Island Race.

Photo: RHKYC / Guy Nowell

“We benefitted by using our Code 0 down past Shek O and our crew did a great job changing from the Code 0 to spinnaker. Ambush had a great run from Lei Yue Mun to Cape D’Aguilar and from Cape D’Aguilar to Ap Lei Chau, and we had a good battle with Seawolf all the way at the south side.”

The Race Officer echoed similar sentiments, agreeing that this had been one of the best editions for many years. ”Almost 95 per cent of the fleet finished the full circumnavigation and there were boats from each of the classes finishing before 16:00, so the great conditions made it an easy decision to run the full circumnavigation,” Norton said.

“It was a splendid day with beautiful weather, except the strong tide at the last leg in the harbour approaching the finishing line. Even though we didn’t quite hit the race record set in 2013, it was a fantastic day.”

The 34m, Dutch-built Xanadu of London, the event’s second-biggest yacht, was on display after a two-year, multi-million-dollar refit and is available for sale and charter through Northrop & Johnson.

Captain Mark Wilkinson said: “I was so proud showing Xanadu of London at Phuket Open Boat. I don’t think photos do her enough justice. You need to be onboard to appreciate her in all her glory. I’m still just blown away by how good she looks, like a new yacht.“

Lee Marine, sister company of Northrop & Johnson Asia-Pacific, exhibited the 65-knot Premier 38 Atari VI and Fatboy, a Riviera 68 Sports Motor Yacht launched in 2019 and now for sale.

Despite heavy rain on the opening day, show organiser Lies Sol of Northrop & Johnson said the turnout was “better than expected”, especially on the second day. “Everyone mentioned they were happy to participate in such a positive event, showing charter yachts in time for the high season, catching up with colleagues and making new connections,” Sol said.

As Hong Kong’s newest marina and first 5 Gold Anchor facility, Lantau Yacht Club is home to many of the city’s finest superyachts including the first Pershing 140 and a Sanlorenzo 46Steel, while also establishing itself as a staycation destination and event venue.

Lantau Yacht Club had its soft opening in September 2020

Lantau Yacht Club has kicked off its second year in style by becoming the first marina in Hong Kong to receive Gold Anchor accreditation from the Marinas Industries Association (MIA). The typhoon sheltered marina was awarded 5 Gold Anchor status, a rating held by just over half of the Global Gold Anchor Program’s 200-plus marinas in over 30 countries.

Having soft opened in September 2020, Lantau Yacht Club’s new accolade was announced in early October 2021, just after the new Discovery Bay facility celebrated its one-year anniversary.

The club proudly flies the 5 Gold Anchor flag

The Gold Anchor audit includes 86 criteria covering management processes, the condition and maintenance of the marina, environmental practices, and ancillary facilities and services.

“As Hong Kong’s newest marina, Lantau Yacht Club has state-of-the-art facilities unprecedented in the city. It was built according to the highest standards and approved by the Government,” says Charlotte Ho, Director of Hospitality Marketing and Membership at Auberge Hospitality, a collection of hotel, club and leisure properties under Hong Kong Resort Company Limited.

Lantau Yacht Club is Hong Kong’s first 5 Gold Anchor marina

“The 5 Gold Anchor award is testament to the excellence of the hardware and software of our marina and our people, fulfilling the MIA’s stringent assessment.

“The marina has plenty of innovations along with the usual services such as shore power, water, dockside phone and TV, black and bilge water pump-out, bunkering and full marina security, as well as blindingly fast 5G networking.”

Lantau Yacht Club is part of Discovery Bay, a high-end, resort-style residential community in the northeast of Lantau Island, which is situated on the west side of Hong Kong and close to the entrance of the Pearl River.

The marina is not only Hong Kong’s first 5 Gold Anchor facility but also the city’s first purpose-built superyacht marina. It has 148 berths including 38 for superyachts from 30-60m, plus there’s also room for a megayacht up to 100m to moor alongside, close to the marina entrance.

The marina’s main piers are 5m wide

The breakwater and all infrastructure were designed and built to withstand extreme weather, while roomy, 5m-wide main piers allow two way passage of golf carts.

On land, the marina accommodates smaller boats and jetskis on the hard stand (up to 17m) and in the dry-stack facility (up to 8m), and offers storage options in 20ft and 40ft containers, as well as lockers.

Services include bunkering, haul-out, repair and maintenance for members and visiting members, with hardware including a travel lift (45 tonnes) and forklift (10 tonnes).

THE BIG AND THE BEAUTIFUL

So far, about 15 per cent of in-water berths are occupied. The resident yachts are like a who’s who of the world’s leading luxury yacht brands and include the first hulls of Pershing’s flagship 140 and Custom Line Navetta 30.

Neighbours include a Sanlorenzo 46Steel (151ft), Sunseeker 131 Yacht, Mangusta 130, Azimut Grande 35 Metri (115ft) and Princess X95, as well as the 130ft Silentworld, among the marina’s recent arrivals following its sale by Fraser Hong Kong.

However, the marina’s first 20-plus members also include several still awaiting the arrival of their new superyacht including the owners of an upcoming Custom Line 106’ and Sanlorenzo SX112.

“Due to the scarcity of berths for superyachts in Hong Kong, many yacht owners become a member in order to reserve a berth before they purchase a yacht or because their yacht is still in build,” Ho says.

The large number of available berths seems at odds with most other marinas in Hong Kong, a city where places to keep a yacht are at a premium, but this exclusive private club is pursuing a targeted business model that Ho believes will prove its worth over time.

“The marina is filling up gradually in line with our plans and expectation. Filling the superyacht berths in the centre is our first target and is proceeding at a satisfactory pace. We’ve introduced a totally new membership scheme and pricing concept in Hong Kong, but we believe the industry will have a better understanding of our rationale as time goes on,” Ho says

LYC has access by ferry to Central and by road to two MTR stations and the airport

“Also, Covid is affecting cruising activities. When the pandemic eases and the border restrictions relax, more Hong Kong yachts currently located outside the city’s borders will be able to move back and more visiting yachts can stop over.”

DISCOVERY BAY AS DESTINATION

Lantau Yacht Club’s clubhouse and facilities are only for members, who are entitled to privileges at the 27-hole Discovery Bay Golf Club, Discovery Bay Recreation Club, Club Siena and Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong, a seaside resort hotel.

LYC’s facilities include tennis courts

Located in the northeast of Lantau, a 25-minute ferry ride from Central, Discovery Bay or ‘DB’ is a mature residential community that benefits from its attractive coastal setting, backed by green hills.

Considering its picturesque setting, Lantau Yacht Club has actively encouraged visitors in 2021, offering a ‘Yachtcation’ package for boats to visit and stay overnight in the marina. Guests can use the tennis courts, relax at the clubhouse bar, dine in Caffè Napoli and finish the evening in the entertainment room, while Discovery Bay itself also offers plenty to do, day or night.

Caffe Napoli offers international cuisine

“There has been a good response to the Yachtcation packages, especially during weekends and holidays. Visitors enjoy the modern facilities at the marina, staying on their own yacht in a resort setting, while enjoying the tranquillity and serenity in their private space,” Ho says.

“Both members and visiting members have spoken highly of the facilities and quality of our marina. Some made use of the opportunity to explore ‘DB’ where kids love the beach, there’s ice skating, people can enjoy alfresco dining at D’Deck or simply relax in the Spa at Auberge Discovery Bay. Before and after enjoying DB, many will sail around Lantau waters for fishing and water activities.”

The Colven family includes three children and are among regular guests at Lantau Yacht Club, averaging one ‘Yachtcation’ a month since the package was made available.

“We love the contemporary dining experience at Caffè Napoli with the magnificent view of the marina. Head Chef Dicky is one of the best chefs we have ever met and puts his heart into preparing tailored menus for us.”

EMERGING EVENT VENUE

Lantau Yacht Club is also establishing itself as an event venue. This year’s highlights have included Ferretti Group Asia Pacific’s local media launch for the first Custom Line Navetta 30 when VIP guests included Clemente Contestabile, Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong, and Ivano Poma, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macao.

The seaside lawn is a picturesque outdoor venue for events

The marina later hosted The Princess Experience, an owners’ rendezvous that involved the X95 and many visiting yachts. “We’re looking forward to more collaboration with yacht brands, agents and other industry players to organise events and promote the yachting lifestyle,” Ho says.

The marina is also seeking to host non-yachting events ranging from product launches, media events and award ceremonies to anniversary celebrations, theme parties and corporate team building programmes. Special guest programmes can even incorporate rounds at the neighbouring Discovery Bay Golf Club.

Discovery Bay Golf Club is among the area’s attractions

The club’s event spaces include a meeting room and Caffè Napoli, with packages including AV equipment, meeting amenities, refreshments and a three-course lunch. Other event packages include ‘Barbecue at the Lawn’, which combines the beautiful setting of the clubhouse’s waterfront green with a stunning menu.

A complimentary shuttle bus service links Lantau Yacht Club with the ferry pier, ensuring seamless access from Central. In addition, the club offers a point-to-point transfer service from any location in Hong Kong, while the management is also considering a pick-up service by boat in the future.

The marina is suitable for yacht builder or dealer events

“Lantau Yacht Club is an inspiring venue for all types of events thanks to the unique backdrop of the marina, the South China Sea and the lush, green surroundings. DB is just 25 minutes from Central by ferry and the uniqueness of the venue makes it worthwhile to make a trip here,” Ho says.

“Also, there’s always plenty to do in Discovery Bay with festivals, open-air markets, sporting events and beach-side happenings. The alfresco dining district of D’Deck and the two retail hubs, DB Plaza and DB North Plaza, offer a host of culinary and retail delights for exhibitors and visitors.”

BIG YACHT PICTURE

Ultimately, Lantau Yacht Club is a brand-new marina specially built to accommodate modern luxury yachts and superyachts, which have been underserved for so long in Hong Kong, the region’s most active yachting hub.

Although the club opened during the Covid era, which has put a dampener on cruising in and out of Hong Kong, the marina is poised to benefit from eventual easing of restrictions as yachts return to the city or start to visit again.

“As Hong Kong is situated at the heart of Asia-Pacific, the marina’s strategic location and world-class facilities and modern amenities will make it one of the most preferred mooring destinations in the region, especially for superyachts as berthing space is in such short supply,” Ho says.

D’Deck features lots of alfresco dining options with views of the beach and bay

“Furthermore, many visiting yachts will want to stop over to replenish supplies and enjoy the city’s scenic spots and exciting activities. Also, if they need maintenance or to handle financial and insurance matters, Hong Kong offers the best professional services in the region.”

The marina’s location in northeast Lantau also means it’s close to both the Hong Kong International Airport on the north of the island and the neighbouring Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, which links the city to the Greater Bay Area.

Lantau Yacht Club is close to Hong Kong International Airport

“Lantau is located at the mouth of the Pearl River Delta so is the best place to start a cruise in mainland China. Owners and guests can experience the very different culture and vibes of Hong Kong before exploring other cities in China,” Ho concludes.

“And Lantau Yacht Club is particularly convenient, especially for overseas visitors, as it’s just 30 minutes from the airport, which makes flying in and sailing out a breeze.”

The Groupe Beneteau catamaran builder has produced the first Excess 15 with a Deep Blue Hybrid system following a partnership with Torqeedo.

Groupe Beneteau brand Excess Catamarans has produced the first Excess 15 with Deep Blue Hybrid following a partnership with Torqeedo.

Excess 15, the brand flagship

Excess has introduced its first model fitted with Torqeedo’s flagship Deep Blue Hybrid system, showing how owners can enjoy all onboard luxuries in good sailing weather without the noise and fumes of a running generator.

A unit of the Groupe Beneteau brand’s flagship Excess 15 was equipped with twin Deep Blue 50kW electric saildrives in cooperation with ZF, two Deep Blue high-capacity lithium-ion BMW i3 batteries, and a full energy-management system for harvesting green energy and charging the boat’s batteries while underway.

On the yacht’s first long test sail, the hydrogeneration system easily provided enough electricity to power 100 per cent of the onboard hotel loads at a cruising speed of seven to eight knots. Adding solar photovoltaics – planned for phase two of the Excess 15 with Deep Blue Hybrid project – will extend the system’s range and provide even more hybrid power and comfort on board.

Groupe Beneteau brand Excess Catamarans has produced the first Excess 15 with Deep Blue Hybrid following a partnership with Torqeedo.

Torqeedo is partnering Excess

“The first thing you notice is the noise reduction and improved manoeuvrability from the electric drives, even in tight quarters. The second is the abundance of power available with the large lithium-ion battery banks, while the energy management system keeps the owner constantly informed of how much power is being consumed and generated,” said Hervé Piveteau, Excess Product Manager, who among the first to sail the Excess 15 with Deep Blue Hybrid.

“The third is what we call ‘hybrid sailing’, which combines the use of wind and electric drives. The precision with which you can control the drives is incredible. Running at a very low rpm is ultraefficient and lets you carry the sails longer, essentially creating wind, with no compromise on sailing sensations nor the pleasure of silent navigation.”

Groupe Beneteau is currently undertaking hybrid engine projects across a wide variety of brands and boats in efforts to further reduce the carbon footprint of its products.

Groupe Beneteau brand Excess Catamarans has produced the first Excess 15 with Deep Blue Hybrid following a partnership with Torqeedo.

Torqeedo’s Deep Blue Hybrid electric saildrive

Thibaut de Montvalon, Excess Brand Director, said he had advocated for Excess to be “first in line” when Groupe Beneteau started discussing cooperation with Torqeedo.

“Sailing is all about efficiency; about being lean and in touch with nature. At Excess, we build catamarans for sailors, catamarans that connect the skipper to the wind and waves, but still offer enough amenities for friends and family to join the adventure with pleasure,” said Montvalon, whose former roles included Director of Groupe Beneteau Asia Pacific.

“The Excess 15 is the natural first step into the world of hybrid electric drives for oceangoing catamarans. Building a yacht that’s easy to own, fun to sail and in tune with nature is in the DNA of our brand.”

Phillip Goethe, Torqeedo’s Director of Project Sales, added: “Electric projects like the one we’re currently undertaking with Groupe Beneteau are defining the future of the marine industry. Creating partnerships to build a better, cleaner, and more enjoyable boating experience is what we do at Torqeedo. The Excess 15 shows us what’s possible.”

The master cabin in the port hull

With natural oak veneers, rose quartz, brass accents and custom-built cabinetry, the interior décor of the yacht reflects the owners’ liking for classic design. This homelike interior styling is continued in all the catamaran’s staterooms. Guest accommodation for 10 is spread across five en-suite cabins.

Francis Lapp, Sunreef Yachts’ founder and President, said: “Sunreef Yachts is the only shipyard in the world to inject superyacht quality into multihull architecture. Our yachts are different from the catamarans you see on the market.

“In the world of multihull boats, Sunreef Yachts are an exception. Thanks to projects such as the 100 Sunreef Power, we are also gaining ground on the monohull-dominated superyacht scene, because today, more and more owners realize that catamarans make fantastic luxury yachts.”

Owner of 11 yacht-building brands, the France-based conglomerate has announced impressive growth from its Boat and Housing divisions.

Groupe Beneteau, finances, forecast, growth, 2021

Groupe Beneteau has revised its forecast for 2021 income from ordinary operations up to between €59 million and €65 million (US$68 million-US$75 million), representing 115-135% growth versus the 2020 pro forma figure of €27.5 million, while predicting its full-year revenue growth to be over 7%.

Sales almost doubled in October, taking consolidated 10-month revenues up to €1,012 million, with 3.1% growth based on reported data (4.4% at constant exchange rates) versus the same period in 2020.

Following a very robust October for both divisions, strong sales growth is also expected for November and December, which is why the Group announced a forecast for revenue growth of over 7% on a reported basis for FY 2021, based on 6% growth for the Boat division and 15% for the Housing division.

The Boat division recorded 2.8% growth during the first 10 months of 2021 (4.2% at constant exchange rates), with +8.3% for boat sales to the distribution networks (excluding fleets), continuing to be driven by strong demand across the day boating segments.

The Housing division achieved 37.8% growth in the third quarter based on reported data, with a 5.5% increase over 10 months, buoyed by strong demand in Northern Europe.

The very high order book at the end of October for each of the two divisions is aligned with their 2022 roadmap for double-digit growth. These results have been achieved despite a cyberattack in February, significant supply chain disruptions and the fire that affected a Housing division site in August.

Groupe Beneteau will be reporting its full-year revenues (FY 2021) after close of trading on February 24, 2022, and its full-year earnings on March 17, 2022.
