The regional dealer has strengthened its sales teams in Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore.

Asiamarine has appointed Alexandre Tricot and Phil Benson as Yacht Broker and Aftersales Manager respectively in Hong Kong, while Raphael Sachs has joined as a Yacht Broker in Thailand as the regional dealer continues to strengthen its staff across the region. Asiamarine’s new yacht sales portfolio includes Galeon, Bali, Tige, Nimbus and Wellcraft.

Tricot will manage the dealer’s representation of Bali Catamarans and brings strong experience in sailing and multihulls. The son of industry veteran Cyrille Tricot, a former Operations Director at The Moorings and Commercial Director of Catana (Bali’s parent company) and Privilège Catamarans, he served apprenticeships at Catana Group then Piriou Group in France, securing a master’s degree in naval architecture.

The Frenchman then worked in New Zealand and Australia, where he worked as a yard hand then a yacht broker. He then founded a business in Australia specialising in yacht management for private owners and yacht brokers.

Eric Noyel, founder and CEO of Asiamarine, said: “Alexandre brings a great amount of knowledge in sailing catamarans and multihulls. We deliver a lot of Bali catamarans to people without a lot of sailing experience, so it’s very useful to have Alexandre who can teach them how to use the boat and maintain it.”

Sachs, who worked in Hong Kong before moving to Thailand, represents both Asiamarine and Fraser, the international brokerage that the dealer has represented in Hong Kong and Thailand since early 2018. The Frenchman has spent over 20 years in Asia as an entrepreneur and senior executive in automobiles, consumer goods, business psychology and F&B.

Asiamarine’s new sales staff also include Candy Li, who joined the Hong Kong office as a Yacht Broker late last year. Brit Harvey Brewin has been working as a Yacht Broker in Hong Kong ahead of a move to Asiamarine’s new Singapore office, which opened in ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove in mid-2021 and is headed by Winnie Ng and Suhaimi Badri.

Asiamarine delivers first Galeon 325 GTO in Asia

Galeon dealer Asiamarine has delivered the first 325 GTO in Asia to an owner in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Benson is among Asiamarine’s new hires this year and brings over three decades of experience to his role as Aftersales Manager, joining from British builder Fairline. After working in the UK for over two decades, the Brit spent six years in Thailand, first as Volvo Penta’s Technical Engineer then Simpson Marine’s Aftersales Service Manager in Phuket.

Benson will coordinate Asiamarine’s aftersales business in Hong Kong, which was outsourced last year to Global Yacht Services headed by Bryan Tse.

Pershing GTX116

Ferretti Group has revealed updates on the Pershing GTX116 and Riva 130’ Bellissima, confirming that the first hull of each model has been sold to American owners. The US market accounts for 35 per cent of sales by the Ferretti Group, whose seven brands currently produce 46 models, of which 60 per cent have been launched in the past three years.

Formerly known as Project TØ, the GTX116 is set to be the 35m flagship of a GTX range that follows Pershing’s X series (5X, 6X, 7X, 8X, 9X), which was completed with last year’s release of the 6X.

The new GTX series is designed to revolutionise the sports yacht concept and places huge emphasis on open space by the water, evident in the expansive, multi-tiered beach club and drop-down balcony by the saloon, while there’s also a spa pool on the foredeck.

The GTX116 offers almost 1,800sqft (165sqnm) of outdoor areas across its three decks, while propulsion is from three MAN engines, each 1,800mhp or 2,000mhp, and Kamewa waterjets.

Ferretti Group also revealed the name of Riva’s new 130ft yacht, Bellissima, which is under construction at the La Spezia shipyard. Production capacity was recently upgraded at the shipyard, which produces the brand’s models from 76-130ft.

The Group has also signed an agreement with Aqua Marina Tech, the Israeli company that develops innovative solutions for saving lives at sea based on cutting-edge technology. On an exclusive basis, Ferretti Group will introduce the patented Watchit system, which uses anti-collision technology to prevent accidents at sea.

The Ferretti Group brand has passed a “thrilling” milestone in the construction of its customised 101ft cruiser-racer sailing yacht.

The sleek carbon hull of the bespoke Wally 101 (click for more details) has been lifted out of its female mould in a dramatic operation, marking a major milestone in the construction of the cruiser-racer inspired by the Wallycento box rule.

Stefano de Vivo, Managing Director of Wally, said: “This is the moment in the birth of a boat when her concept takes material shape for the first time and you get a glimpse of the vessel she will become. It’s thrilling to watch.”

Wally stated that although it’s rare for one-off yachts of this scale to use female moulding, which is time-consuming to build, it “ensures a near perfect exterior finish”, with the builder paying tribute to its lamination team.

Luca Bassani, Wally’s founder and Chief Designer, said: “Our laminators have been with Wally since the brand’s first days and are among the best in the world. Their collaboration has helped us to develop techniques that bring the absolute best out of the high-end materials pioneered by Wally. We’re delighted to be one step closer to welcoming a fabulous new custom Wally into the world.”

Wally, 101, demould, mould, hull, lifting, sailing, yacht, cruiser, racer, carbon, Stefano De Vivo, Luca Bassani, pre-preg, carbon-fibre, sandwich composite, owner

The builder said very little filler was needed to fair the hull, further eliminating unnecessary weight, which was a critical part of the brief from the experienced owner, who has already had three Wally yachts.

After demoulding, the hull was laid in a cradle and moved back under cover for the next stage of its transformation. Shipwrights are installing the bulkheads that divide up the interior space, while wiring, piping, tanks and other engineering foundations are also being put in.

Wally, 101, demould, mould, hull, lifting, sailing, yacht, cruiser, racer, carbon, Stefano De Vivo, Luca Bassani, pre-preg, carbon-fibre, sandwich composite, owner

The lightweight carbon deck is currently in mould. Built using advanced pre-preg carbon-fibre in a sandwich composite, the Wally 101 is predicted to weigh 56 tonnes, of which 40 per cent is due to the lifting keel.

Even with the yacht including labour-saving technology such as Wally’s Magic Trim and Magic Traveller hydraulic systems, the builder believes the boat’s weight is 20 per cent lighter than yachts of similar size and capabilities.

Wally WHY200 “Has ‘Wow’ Factor Engraved In DNA”

With a staggering 200GT of interior volume, Wally’s four-engine WHY200 has been described by Ferretti Group as the world’s largest fibreglass motor yacht with a sub-24m load line. But is the world ready for this futuristic vision of boating?

Designer Jozeph Forakis has created a lighter Positano decor for the CLB88, while the CLB65 is on schedule to debut at the Newport show in September.

CLB88 is the flagship of the expanding CLB range

CL Yachts is offering a new interior package for its CLB88 in addition to the darker décor used on the first hull. A lighter Positano palette made up of softer greys and light oaks has been created by Jozeph Forakis.

The Milan-based designer also worked on the yacht’s original design and the original interior package, Milano, which is dominated by teak and walnut.

“The essence of CLB88 is trying to balance a sense of tradition and forward-thinking design, and I think you see that in full effect with the new interior option package,” Forakis said.

“We wanted to have a totally different feel between the palettes. When you step onboard the same boat with different palettes, the change in feeling is palpable, and we think our customers will really enjoy being able to have that choice.”

Other developments on the CLB88 include integrated carpeting in the aft section of the salon and extensive use of Corian and Fenix, a matt laminate that uses nanotechnology.

CL Yachts is also on schedule to debut hull one of CLB65 at this year’s Newport International Boat Show, which will be held in Rhode Island from September 15-18.

CLB65 could debut at Newport in September

Following the CLB72 and CLB88, CLB65 is the new entry model for the B range and is designed for owner operation, with the brand featuring an aft galley for the first time along with other new features.

Martin Lo, Director of CL Yachts, said: “CLB65 will stand out for a lot of reasons. Our clients will enjoy the expansive windows, which include an up-down function on the port side and a flip-up window between the galley and cockpit. This is in line with our idea of bringing the outside in and inside out.”

Excess 14 was designed with VPLP

Excess is developing the Excess 14, which is scheduled to debut at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival from September 6-11. Designed in collaboration with VPLP Design, the lines of the Excess 14 have benefited from the studio’s experience of ocean racing.

The 14 is the fourth model in the Groupe Beneteau brand’s range, which includes the 11, 12 and flagship 15 models, all designed to offer the ‘sensation’ of sailing monohulls with the living space and stability of a catamaran.

Aft steering station with bench-seat on each side

Like the other Excess models, the 14 has twin helm stations aft, while the model’s many innovations include asymmetric hulls, which feature redesigned windows. Built from sandwich and carbon reinforcements, the 14 has a waterline length of almost 44ft, while her overall length can range between 46ft-52ft depending on the bowsprit for the genoa and length of swim platform.

The model has an aft-set coachroof, while a ‘skylounge’ option offers lounging space on the top for use while the boat is anchored or moored.

Features include a forward-stepped mast, low boom, low freeboard for reduced windage, inverted and inclined bows, as well as a composite bowsprit as standard and an exposed forefoot. The overall design results in a lower centre of gravity and a new longitudinal volume distribution, according to Excess.

A direct steering system has been chosen, with textile lines, for a better helm feel, while the rig includes a square-top mainsail and a large overlapping genoa as standard for an impressive sail-area-to-displacement ratio. As well as a new fins design, changes from other Excess models include extended rudder blades and increased bridgedeck clearance for better passage through the water.

Master suite in the owner’s version

Living areas start from the aft cockpit, which has an aft bench, L-shaped sofa and a table to port, and a chaise longue to starboard. The saloon features a full-beam aft galley, a forward lounge to starboard with an L-shaped sofa, table and stools, plus a retractable chart table to port. The interior also has untinted windows, for greater visibility.

Layout options include a three-cabin owner’s version and a four-cabin charter version. The owner’s version includes a master suite in the starboard hull with an aft bed, large study and central en-suite bathroom. It also has a forward walk-in wardrobe and storage room that can be cleverly converted to a twin cabin, making it into a family suite.
