Poland’s Sunreef Yachts has added a 42.7m sailing catamaran to its new Eco range, which offers solar-powered versions of its sailing and power models.

The 43M Eco is Sunreef’s largest Eco sailing model

Sunreef Yachts has unveiled the customisable 43M Eco, the solar-assisted version of the Sunreef 140 ‘sailing super-catamaran’. Featuring the green technology that characterises the Polish builder’s Eco range, the 43M Eco offers emission-free motoring and an unlimited range due to solar cells in her bodywork, mast and boom generating green energy for twin 200kW engines.

In addition, the 42.7m (140ft) sailing catamaran can keep producing clean power under sail through an advanced hydro-generation system, while the yacht’s smart-power and water-management systems monitor and optimise energy consumption.

The ‘ocean lounge’ is an expansive beach club

Like on the Sunreef 140, standout features on the 43M Eco include the ‘ocean lounge’, a walkaround beach club merging the aft platform, skirts and two fold-down balconies into one large relaxation space that makes the most of the 50ft 6in beam.

The fully customisable ocean lounge can accommodate the likes of a massage room with ocean views, a fitness area or a bar for serving drinks between watersports. The concealed aft garage can carry two large personal watercraft, electric water toys and an inflatable catamaran.

The vast flybridge offers alfresco lounging with panoramic vistas, with a large spa pool flanked by oversized sunpads, a drinks bar and outdoor movie theatre, making it suitable for long sunning sessions, lengthy dinners and late-night cocktails high above the water.

The light-filled interiors can be designed to each owner’s vision, with custom-crafted furniture and bespoke decors using a selection of ethically sourced woods, natural fabrics and sustainable materials. The yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests and seven crew.

The French catamaran builder’s new Lagoon 51 has been developed to offer extensive solar panels on the flybridge as well as on the roof of the optional hardtop.

The Lagoon 51 is scheduled to debut at La Grande Motte

Following on the heels of the Lagoon 55 launched last year, Lagoon will debut its new 51 at this year’s International Multihull Show, which is scheduled to be held at La Grande Motte on France’s south coast from April 20-24.

Like most Lagoon models, the 50ft 4in cat with a 26ft 7in beam features naval architecture by France’s VPLP Design, exterior design by Patrick Le Quément of France and an interior by Italy’s Nauta Design.

The Lagoon has a beam of 26ft 7in

The yacht features a large flybridge with the option of solar panels, an optional hardtop that can also be fitted with solar panels, and a traditional cockpit with aft sofa in contrast to the ‘open terrace on the sea’ seen on the 55.

Lagoon says the flybridge occupies 80 per cent of the roof, with two large sunpads forward of the helm station and aft of the mast. The main social area features a huge C-shaped seating area, with the forward sofa featuring two adjustable backrests so the skipper seat and companion seats can face aft to the central table, which can be lowered to create a large sunbathing area.

The flybridge is accessed by stairs on both sides, to port for the helmsman and to starboard for the guests. The flybridge features full headroom, so can be safely used underway.

Solar panels can be fitted on all the outside areas of the flybridge and on top of the hardtop, itself an option. The solar-powered technology provides more than 3,400W to operate on-board services.

Large transoms flank the high-low central platform

On the main deck, the Lagoon 51 starts aft with large, wide transoms, which provide safe access to the dock and the water, while the central high-low platform has been developed in association with Tenderlift. Combined, the platforms provide a full-beam platform by the sea.

Two small steps from each transom lead to the cockpit, which has a long aft sofa, a sofa and table to port, and a wide two-seat sofa or chaise longue plus wet bar to starboard.

The wide side decks lead to the foredeck, which has a C-shaped sofa, a coffee table and cupholders, while a large shade sail can be erected to cover the area.

VPLP Design said: “We designed the Lagoon 51 as a perfect synthesis of the modernity of the shapes and the sail plan, with living space on deck and inside that is unequalled on a boat of this size.”

The lounge is up a step from the aft galley area

The interior starts with the saloon, which has the mast at the forward end, so offers clear views all around, while Alpi woods and oak are among new wood finishes. The saloon features an L-shaped galley with cooking area and sink to port, while opposite is identical L-shaped cabinetry with storage, serving and prep space, and fridge drawers.

Up a step is the lounge, which features a forward-facing sofa and an L-shaped sofa providing seating to port and forward around a foldable table. “The stepped-up lounge of the saloon offers the best panoramic, 360-degree views over the water,” Nauta Design said.

The master suite in the owner’s layout

The lower-deck layouts include an owner version with the master suite plus sofa, vanity desk and walk-in dressing room occupying the starboard hull, plus a further three guest cabins to port. A four-cabin, four-head layout features two en-suite cabins in each hull, while a six-cabin, four-head layout includes an extra cabin inside, forward of the stairs.

As well as the option of solar panels, other sustainable solutions on the Lagoon 51 include the use of hemp fibre to replace fibreglass wherever possible, together with partially biosourced resin, while 100 per cent ecological and biodegradable cleaning products are included. Proposed options include upholstery in recycled fabric and the use of Alpi wood certified by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).

Lagoon’s range now comprises seven sailing cats – 40, 42, 46, 51, 55, Sixty 5 and Seventy 7 – and the Sixty 7 and Seventy 8 powercats. The French builder launched its 6,000th catamaran in 2021 and is represented in multiple markets in Asia by Simpson Marine.

NextWave Yachting has released a short teaser of the first Pacific edition of Sunseeker’s Manhattan 68, following its recent arrival in Hong Kong.

Instead of a starboard sofa facing a fixed TV to port by the private stairs to the master suite, the saloon on the Pacific edition features two facing C-shaped sofas and a rise-and-fall TV. Access to all three guest cabins on the lower deck is via the forward staircase.

The British builder has revealed the much-awaited second model in its X Class, with the new X80 taking its design cues from the X95 and its ‘super flybridge’.

Princess has revealed running and interior photos of the X80 following its showing at The Princess Exclusive, which featured eight of the brand’s models on show at the historic Royal William Yard in Plymouth for nine days.

Following the flagship X95 launched in 2020, the X80 is the second yacht in the X Class and has an extra-long ‘super flybridge’ as its signature feature, increasing both outdoor and indoor space.

The layout of the 82ft 7in motor yacht features large, adaptable spaces so owners can choose how they wish the boat to be set up, such as with a large informal dining area on the main deck or a dining area in the climate-controlled sky lounge.

Princess, Yachts, Plymouth, Royal William Yard, X80, Antony Sheriff, Andy Lawrence, Princess Exclusive, super flybridge, X95, Olesinski, PininfarinaThe X80 features a ‘super flybridge’

Antony Sheriff, Executive Chairman of Princess Yachts, said: “The immediate success of the X95 demonstrates we have a successful formula on our hands. The X Class really does represent a mould-breaking design and architectural direction for Princess Yachts. We have translated the X95’s unique formula to a smaller package and are immensely proud of the X80, a striking new addition to our range.”

Working again with Olesinski and Pininfarina, Princess has again created a distinct profile, with forward raked screens and long flowing curves including those connecting the flybridge to the sky lounge

As with the X95, the pilot house can be fully enclosed with sliding doors and features a leather upholstered electric seat with the option for a companion navigator seat. The sky lounge includes an entertainment system with audiophile-quality Naim audio system, which is also fitted in the saloon and master stateroom as standard.

The sky lounge is available with a large sofa opposite a hand-crafted sideboard with hidden television unit or as an informal dining area to seat eight. It opens aft to a large dining area for eight, with wet bar opposite, while aft is the option of a sun pad or two L-shaped seats, which offer greater configurability.

The starboard pantograph door of the sky lounge leads forward to a large double sun pad that can be electronically converted into two sofas facing port and starboard for relaxed al-fresco gatherings.

The main deck saloon offers views through to the forward window and is configured in a traditional fashion with two large sofas and Princess coffee table, day head to port and starboard galley, which can be enclosed.

Princess, Yachts, Plymouth, Royal William Yard, X80, Antony Sheriff, Andy Lawrence, Princess Exclusive, super flybridge, X95, Olesinski, PininfarinaThe saloon on the main deck

Forward is a dining area or master suite offering 270-degree views and an additional full-length glass window on the port side, also available with an optional door to the side deck.

On the lower deck are four en-suite cabins comprising a full-beam master stateroom midships, forward guest stateroom, a double guest to starboard and a twin cabin, available with sliding berths, to port. Aft are the crew quarters, which can accommodate between three and five crew.

Waterside features include a teak hydraulic swim platform that can accommodate and deploy a Williams SportJet 395, whilst the transom locker can store two Seabobs. A pair of stairways with transom gates lead up to the aft cockpit, which features a large upholstered U-shaped seating area with folding dining table and wet bar.

Princess, Yachts, Plymouth, Royal William Yard, X80, Antony Sheriff, Andy Lawrence, Princess Exclusive, super flybridge, X95, Olesinski, PininfarinaOptional master suite forward on the main deck

The X80 is fitted with twin MAN V12 engines of either 1650mhp or 1900mhp, the latter providing a top speed of 29-31 knots due to a pioneering deep-V hull design developed with Olesinski. The optional addition of fin or gyro stabilisation provides greater stability when stationary or underway.

Andy Lawrence, Director of Design at Princess Yachts, said: “The challenge posed after the success of the X95 was how can we offer the space of the X95 in a smaller form? The key to this boat is its functionality.

“Each space had to be perfectly designed to maximise the owner’s enjoyment of it, making the X80’s design less predictable than other boats of its size. Stature and gravitas are defined by the increased height of bulwarks, topsides and an enclosed wheelhouse while maximised glazing and flexible entertaining areas provide owners with multiple unique environments on-board.”

Azimut launches Magellano flagship

Azimut launches Magellano flagship

SHARE

Following the release of the Magellano 25 Metri, the Italian builder has splashed the 30 Metri, the new flagship of the long-range line.

Ken Freivokh drew the exterior of the Magellano 30 Metri

Azimut has launched hull one of the Magellano 30 Metri in Viareggio. The model features exterior styling by Ken Freivokh and interior design by Vincenzo De Cotiis, the pair reuniting following their work on the Magellano 25 Metri (cover, Issue 55) released in late 2020.

The Magellano Collection caters for owners focused on long cruises, with low fuel consumption and interiors designed for extensive stays on board. The teak louvres that close and complement the extensive glazed surfaces in the superstructure are a signature feature of the Magellano line.

Outdoor areas include an ‘infinity terrace’ aft on the main deck and the generous terrace on the upper deck. The yacht has over 70sqm of glazed surfaces, so many interior areas benefit from huge windows such as the living space on the main deck, the full-beam owner’s suite and the upper-deck skylounge.

Dual-mode hull by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture (P.L.A.N.A)

The Magellano 30 Metri features naval architecture by P.L.A.N.A and a second-generation ‘dual-mode hull’ for efficiency at both mid-range and higher speeds, reducing consumption by about 15 per cent compared with traditional hard-chine planing hulls. The Hotel Mode package includes 100kWh lithium batteries that enable the yacht to stay at anchor with zero emissions for up to 4hrs during the day and 8hrs at night.

Marine Italia represents Azimut in Hong Kong, Macau, Guangdong, Taiwan and Singapore. Asia’s first hull of the Magellano 25 Metri arrived in Hong Kong last year.

MarineMax, which also owns Fraser and Northrop & Johnson, said the revenue growth was due to contributions from recent strategic acquisitions and strong same-store sales growth of nine per cent, driven by increased unit sales. Net income increased 52 per cent to US$35.9 million and earnings per diluted share grew 53 per cent to US$1.59 from US$1.04 a year earlier, due to the company’s significant geographic and product diversification, plus accretive acquisitions.

Brett McGill, CEO and President of MarineMax, said: “We delivered record revenue, cash flow and earnings growth in the quarter. This was on top of very strong performance a year ago, as we have continued to outperform by effectively executing on our growth strategy. Additionally, the shift of consumers’ renewed desire for the boating lifestyle continues to build, as both demand and backlog remain very robust. The Italian builder has revealed details and images of the second Oasis model, which will again be centred on the popular Oasis Deck.

Benetti is following its hugely successful Oasis 40M with the 34M model, a 113ft version of the Oasis series that’s most notable for its open aft deck with infinity pool and drop-down sides. Hull one of the Oasis 34M is expected to be launched later this year.

Like her big sister, the exterior styling is by UK firm RWD and the interiors are by Bonetti/Kozerski, the New York-based architectural studio specialising in residential and hôtellerie projects.

Exterior features include a vertical bow and a sleek outline that slopes gently down to the water, broken only by the wheelhouse with its vertical windscreen, while other aspects include floor-to-ceiling windows and counter-curved hull features.

The grilles in the hull and silver trim around the side windows reference car design, giving the yacht a contemporary, sporty aesthetic. The garage for a 5m tender is on the side of the boat.

The now-patented Oasis Deck® on the 34m model will include its five signature features including two wings that open out on either side, an infinity pool with a glass side wall and surrounded by a sunbathing and lounging area, plus a clear 270-degree view free of railings and sofas.

The five features also include a “seamless interconnection with the interior space”, offering a mix of sun and shade to ensure the main deck can be enjoyed any time of day, and also a “social design that frames the whole deck as one big oasis of glamour and social interaction”.

The exterior areas including the sun deck use a narrow-plank teak, while a lighter shade is used for the interiors of the main and upper decks to brighten the settings, with the furnishings and bulkheads finished in pale oak.

On the main deck, two curved sliding doors disappear out of view to create one big open space and welcome guests to the interior. The saloon features two seating areas, each with long, curved sofas, while the forward wall is made up of a linear bookcase.

The master suite is forward and has an aft-facing bed, full-height windows and can be fitted with an opening terrace to starboard. Forward, the full-beam bathroom is entered via dressing areas on both sides of the bedhead.

The skylounge on the upper deck is home to the dining area and is served by a pantry, linked by a dumb waiter to the galley on the main deck. The skylounge opens aft onto a stern terrace furnished with sofas and armchairs.

Like all Benetti yachts, the spaces can be configured according to the owner’s desires. Many layout options relocate the interior dining area onto the main deck, freeing up the skylounge for use as a multifunctional space such as a cinema or a gym.

Forward on the upper deck is the high-tech helm station with floor-to-ceiling glazing, as well as the captain’s cabin. In the bow, there’s a large sun pad, which conceals a compartment for a jetski.

The naval architecture of the Oasis 40M is by Azimut-Benetti and Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture (PLANA), while twin MTU 10V engines provide a top speed of 16 knots and a range of 2,700nm at 12 knots.

The British builder has announced its schedule for new models through 2025, including what it expects to be “the most desirable boat of 2022.

The Predator 65 will premiere at the Miami International Boat Show

Following the launch of seven new models in 2021, Sunseeker has revealed that it plans to launch another 17 new models in the coming four years. Sitting on a forward order book worth GBP500 million (about US$700 million), the British builder announced it plans to launch four new models this year, five in 2023 and four in each of the following two years.

This year’s world premieres start with the Predator 65, which was scheduled to be unveiled at the now-cancelled Boot Dusseldorf so instead will debut at the Miami International Boat Show in Florida from February 16-20.

The 100 Yacht follows last year’s launches of the 88 Yacht and 90 Ocean

The 100 Yacht is another new model for 2022, with hull one already in the water, and will be the shipyard’s longest new model for six years. However, in an online media announcement, Sales Director Sean Robertson saved his superlatives for the Superhawk 55, which is scheduled to splash this summer and show at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 6-11.

Robertson described the new model as Sunseeker “going back to the future”, as it re-introduces the line over 13 years since production of the last Superhawk 43, the culmination of the Hawk series of open cruisers that began in the 1980s and blossomed in the 1990s.

“Models like the Superhawk 48 and 43 were so different for their time, offering so much innovation and performance and comfort. For the last seven or eight years, we’ve been hounded by clients and dealers saying we want a Superhawk, we want that way of boating again,” said Robertson, who has worked at Sunseeker since 1986.

“However, we couldn’t just reintroduce what we did all those years ago. It would have worked for a while, but it wouldn’t take the market by storm. This is what the Superhawk 55 will do.”

The Superhawk 55 will be in the water this summer

The new Superhawk 55 has a flexible aft cockpit layout as well as a saloon and two cabins below deck, while twin 725hp Volvo Penta D11-IPS 950 engines are expected to produce a top speed of 38-40 knots. Robertson believes that of all Sunseeker’s new models this year, the Superhawk 55 will be the most talked-about.

“By the end of this year, the Superhawk 55 will be the most desired boat in the marketplace. It has a beauty that pulls clients in. Then you add in that Superhawk attitude and performance, but performance that’s easy for any client to use, from leaving the dock to that 40-knot top speed.”

The open cruiser has flexible seating areas fore and aft

Robertson also emphasised the yacht’s practical design including an optional hardtop and two side doors to the full walkaround to the foredeck, where the sunpad slides apart to become a seating area. Aft, the hydraulic swim platform reveals a garage for a 3m tender, above is a triple sunpad with a water toys drawer, while the flat cockpit also features a table and moveable chairs.

“The semi-hardtop gives you as much sun and light or shade as you need in those areas. The stern offers that all-important connection with the water from the high-low bathing platform and easy-access stairs plus storage below the deck line for a 3m tender, which is easy to launch as you simply flood the garage and let it out,” Robertson said.

The Predator 55 has a saloon and two cabins below deck

“Considering this is a Q3 launch, we’ve seen unprecedented interest and orders, almost a clamouring of clients wanting to get their name against this boat going forward. The Superhawk 55 is undoubtedly the most desirable boat of the year.”

The Phantom 65 launches a new Fairline series

Fairline has scheduled a June launch for its first Phantom 65, the first model from the British builder’s new sportbridge line. Reviving the name of a former Fairline range, Phantom fits between the Squadron flybridge motor yachts and the Targa cruisers, and is Fairline’s second new series in three years, following the introduction of the F//Line 33 in 2019.

Scheduled to premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, the Phantom 65 shares the same technical platform as the Targa 65 but with a new deck and superstructure including flowing lines that encompass a low-set sportbridge.

The sportbridge offers forward and aft  lounging areas

Paul Grys, CEO of Fairline, said: “We are pleased to present our first sportbridge model, offering the enhanced space of a flybridge with the sportiness of our Targa models. The Phantom name has long been synonymous with Fairline and while we’ve kept the name, that’s where the similarities end.

“The Phantom 65 is an all-new sportbridge yacht, elegant, dynamic, clean and unfussy in its design, while offering the handling and performance Fairline always delivers.”

The interior features an aft galley and raised saloon

The sportbridge is accessed by port stairs from the cockpit and features an L-shaped sofa and a table aft, a wet bar and a forward C-shaped sofa to starboard, and two helm seats to starboard, set behind a sleek windscreen.

The aft platform accesses a tender garage that can fit a Williams SportJet 345, while the cockpit features a large central sunpad and an L-shaped sofa to starboard. The interior starts with a galley to port opposite a C-shaped dining area, while forward is a raised saloon, with another C-shaped sofa and a coffee table to port, facing a two-seat sofa set aft of two helm seats.

The saloon benefits from big windows and a sunroof

The lower deck is available with three or four cabins. The master cabin midships has a king-sized bed, dedicated bureau with drawer storage to starboard and a large sofa to port, while aft is a dressing area and the bathroom.

To starboard, the en-suite guest cabin has single berths that can electrically slide together to become a double. The VIP cabin in the bow has an en-suite bathroom to port that it shares with the bunk cabin to port in the four-cabin version. In the three-cabin version, there’s a communal bathroom to port.

Available from £2,050,000 (about US$2,760,000) excluding VAT, the Phantom 65 can be fitted with either twin 1,150mhp Caterpillar C18 engines for a top speed of 31 knots or 1,622mhp Caterpillar C32 V12s expected to power the yacht over 35 knots. www.fairline.com www.simpsonmarine.com
