The Italian builder is developing the FY580, the brand’s latest model with exterior and interior design by Filippo Salvetti and IdeaeItalia respectively.

Filippo Salvetti designed the Ferretti Yachts 580

Ferretti Yachts announced seven sales of the Ferretti Yachts 580 by early May, more than seven months ahead of its scheduled world premiere at Boot Dusseldorf from January 21-29, 2023. Measuring over 18m (59ft) with a beam of 5m (16ft 5in), the FY580 is the sixth Ferretti Yachts model to feature exterior design by architect Filippo Salvetti.

“The design of the exteriors is the result of a gesture, a blade-shaped detail that defines the character of the superstructure,” Salvetti said. “Extensive glazed surfaces and ceiling heights of at least 2m offer excellent visibility, framing the sky and the sea in one highly spectacular panorama.”

Coordinated by Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee and Engineering Department, the FY580 is also Ferretti Yachts’ fourth model featuring an interior by IdeaeItalia, which has also worked on the entry-level FY500, flagship FY1000 and upcoming FY860.

Like other IdeaeItalia interiors for Ferretti Yachts, the FY580 will be available in Classic and Contemporary moods, while notable features include an electrically operated window that opens to connect the cockpit and galley.

The lower deck can feature a master cabin midships with a study or vanity area, VIP forward and a double guest cabin, plus two bathrooms. As an option, a third bathroom can be chosen in place of the study.

The yacht can be fitted with either twin 900mhp or 1,000mhp Volvo Penta engines. Humphree dynamic trim interceptors and the Xenta electro-hydraulic steering system are fitted as standard, while a joystick and the gyroscopic stabilisation are optional.

Riviera is preparing to stage the global debut of its brand-new 78 Motor Yacht at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, which will be held from May 19-22. Based on Queensland’s Gold Coast, the Australian builder recently launched hull one of its new flagship, while the second hull was sold by Thailand-based Lee Marine, Riviera’s longest-serving international dealer.

Featuring an overall length of 81ft 5in and an almost 20ft beam, the 78 Motor Yacht is available with an enclosed or open bridge deck and was designed with Italian superyacht designer Luca Vallebona.

“We decided to do something that was contemporary but not the showroom styling that you see especially in some designs. What I love is the way we’re mixing our different cultures, Australian and European, and have found a good balance that will make everyone happy,” Vallebona said.

Going forward from the aft saloon deck of the 78 to the interior, I think is an incredible space. We worked hard as a team to find the right balance in the interior design. I think we achieved a very good outcome. We have introduced new concepts and they look superb.”

Features include a full-width high-low swim platform, while the transom includes access to a large garage through a lifting portside door including built-in shower, while a starboard watertight door provides access to the full-height engine room and crew quarters.

The aft cockpit features teak decking and includes an aft sofa, an L-shape sofa and fold-out teak dining table to starboard, and barbecue to port. Teak chairs can be added around the dining table to accommodate up to eight guests. An aft screen can be lowered for privacy and protection from weather, while wing doors on either side allow to a fixed dock.

An electric sliding door opens to reveal the saloon, which has a large U-shape galley to starboard, while a large window slides down electrically to connect the cockpit and interior. Varnished, finely grain-matched high-gloss teak was selected for the interior of hull one.

The saloon features a large L-shape sofa to starboard and a two-seat couch to port, aft of a wet bar. A starboard door leads to the side deck, from where guests can reach the foredeck, a versatile space offers several entertaining layouts and a Euro sun awning, plus the option to carry a tender or jetski.

An aft timber staircase to port leads up to the bridge deck, which has a superyacht-like helm station with four large navigation screens. The central leather captain’s chair is flanked by companion chairs, while to starboard of the skipper is an extended console with engine controls.

Aft is a leather lounge and ottoman and entertainment unit. An electric double sliding and stacking glass door opens to connect the interior and exterior. The open aft deck has a bar with high seats, C-shaped sofa, and foldout teak dining table, while there’s also an option for a day head to starboard. The coaming includes port and starboard joysticks for slow-speed manoeuvring.

From the forward end of the main-deck saloon, a curved timber staircase leads to the lower deck, which has four staterooms and three bathrooms. Midships, the full-beam master suite has extended hull windows, an electrically adjustable king-size bed and extended his-and-hers bathroom.

The en-suite VIP in the bow has a queen bed and natural light from hull windows and twin overhead hatches. The port guest cabin can offer a double bed or sliding twin singles, and has en-suite access to a bathroom that also acts as the day head and bathroom for guests in the starboard cabin, which features cross-over berths.

Riviera offers a seven-year structural warranty and two-year express limited warranty covering all non-structural components. Riviera yachts powered by MAN engines have a five-year mechanical limited warranty, with the MAN Gold Standard Premium covering all engines and engine-room components.

Sunseeker launched hull one of the 100 Yacht in the presence of her owner at the British builder’s Poole headquarters, soon after the 94-tonne flybridge motor yacht saw daylight for the first time after leaving her shed.

Showing aggressive, muscular lines, the 98-footer with an almost 23ft beam was lowered into the water and will undergo sea trials ahead of her delivery into the Mediterranean this summer. Powered by twin MTU 12V 2000 M96X or 16V 2000 M96L engines, the 100 Yacht can reach up to 29 knots and has a range of 1,300nm at 12 knots with 12,800 litres of fuel.

The yacht has a powerful exterior

Andrea Frabetti, CEO of Sunseeker International, said: “We are incredibly proud to unveil the 100 Yacht with the owner in attendance. Our project team has worked incredibly hard to present this first  build and prepare the vessel for initial sea trials and testing.

“The 100 Yacht has been a remarkable success. The second hull is following and we’re busy building multiple orders for delivery in 2022 and beyond. The order book reflects our brand strength, in-house creativity and the passion of all involved to deliver a spectacular new model. This is the only yacht offering seamless access between flybridge, foredeck and an owners’ private terrace on the sea.”

The flybridge has complete walk-around access from bow to stern. The foredeck has two separate seating arrangements and cinema-screen capability, while aft of the pilot house is a large L-shaped sofa with dining table, a fully equipped wet bar and space for free-standing furniture or a spa bath.

The main deck has a large aft cockpit, while the interior features a saloon and dining area. Forward, the full-beam master suite has floor-to-ceiling windows on both sides plus a signature glass atrium door forward that leads to the private bow terrace. There are four guest cabins and crew quarters on the lower deck.

Beneteau to debut First 44 at Cannes

Beneteau to debut First 44 at Cannes

SHARE

The French builder is developing the First 44 ‘racer-cruiser’, which offers standard and Performance versions, and provides a link between the new First 36 and the First Yacht 53.

Beneteau, First 44, Performance, sail, sailing, boat, yacht, Cannes Yachting Festival, Lorenzo Argento, Roberto Biscontini, America’s Cup, First Yacht 53, Oceanis Yacht, 54, 60, Mer Forte, Hugues Destremau, North Sails, Michel Sacaze, Harken, William Thomas, Sparcraft

Roberto Biscontini and Lorenzo Argento designed the First 44

Beneteau is producing the First 44 and plans to actively test the model before its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival (September 6-11), where the racer-cruiser could debut with the Oceanis Yacht 60. Based on a 43ft 2in hull with a beam of almost 14ft, the First 44 is offered in standard and Performance versions with an overall length of 46ft 5in and 48ft 1in respectively.

The First 44 features naval architecture by long-time America’s Cup designer Roberto Biscontini plus deck and interior design by Lorenzo Argento, the Italian pairing who also worked on the First Yacht 53, Oceanis Yacht 54 and upcoming Oceanis Yacht 60.

Beneteau, First 44, Performance, sail, sailing, boat, yacht, Cannes Yachting Festival, Lorenzo Argento, Roberto Biscontini, America’s Cup, First Yacht 53, Oceanis Yacht, 54, 60, Mer Forte, Hugues Destremau, North Sails, Michel Sacaze, Harken, William Thomas, Sparcraft

Deck layout for the standard First 44

The standard First 44 has a convivial cockpit with wide side-decks converging toward a cockpit table. Four winches, a fixed centreline block for the mainsheet and a mast set further aft are designed to maximise the potential of a modern sail plan with a slender mainsail and generous foresails. Twin 300-litre ballast tanks, activated electrically from the helms, help the boat reach its potential with reduced crew.

The Performance version was developed with fully crewed regattas in mind and offers a different deck plan and options for keels and masts (aluminium or carbon).

Beneteau, First 44, Performance, sail, sailing, boat, yacht, Cannes Yachting Festival, Lorenzo Argento, Roberto Biscontini, America’s Cup, First Yacht 53, Oceanis Yacht, 54, 60, Mer Forte, Hugues Destremau, North Sails, Michel Sacaze, Harken, William Thomas, Sparcraft

The First 44 Performance is designed for fully crewed racing

Equipment and systems are geared towards racing and features include foam non-skid surfaces to replace teak on the cockpit sole, six well-placed winches and a conventional mainsail traveller. The rigging and sail set-up include an almost 5ft bowsprit, hydraulic backstay, powerful in-hauler system and a performance keel/mast combination.

Engineering for the First 44 was entrusted to the Mer Forte firm, resulting in a ‘full infusion’ yacht in which the distribution of weight is a key factor. The First 44 Performance is 1,100 pounds lighter than the First 44 and its deck layout is a collaboration involving Biscontini, Argento, Hugues Destremau (North Sails), Michel Sacaze (Harken), William Thomas (Sparcraft) and Beneteau.

The Performance version is 1,100 pounds lighter

Biscontini, who first worked on America’s Cup designs in the late 1980s, said: “The objective with the entire First 44 team was to refine the concept of ‘performance cruiser’, which isn’t an easy undertaking because the architecture of these boats rests on many contradictory requirements.

“We tried to find the correct balance between cruising comfort, performance and safety, and are quite satisfied with the result. The First 44 shares the style and the elegance of the First Yacht 53 and is similar in the organisation of space and volumes, yet certain elements and characteristics of her design take her a step further in her quest for performance.”

Beneteau, First 44, Performance, sail, sailing, boat, yacht, Cannes Yachting Festival, Lorenzo Argento, Roberto Biscontini, America’s Cup, First Yacht 53, Oceanis Yacht, 54, 60, Mer Forte, Hugues Destremau, North Sails, Michel Sacaze, Harken, William Thomas, Sparcraft

Aft view of the interior by Lorenzo Argento

The interior features the mast at the end of a six-seater transversal table to port, while opposite is a sofa and navigation station. The en-suite master cabin is in the bow, while aft is the galley to port and two guest cabins sharing a starboard bathroom. The decor includes white lacquered surfaces, moulded woods, indirect lighting and a selection of luxurious upholstery.

Argento, who also worked on the new First 36, said: “I wish to sincerely congratulate Roberto for successfully creating the hull-mast-rigging combination, which gives us an extremely pleasant and well performing yacht on the water.

Beneteau, First 44, Performance, sail, sailing, boat, yacht, Cannes Yachting Festival, Lorenzo Argento, Roberto Biscontini, America’s Cup, First Yacht 53, Oceanis Yacht, 54, 60, Mer Forte, Hugues Destremau, North Sails, Michel Sacaze, Harken, William Thomas, Sparcraft The en-suite master cabin is in the bow

“At our level, we tried to reproduce this fluidity and spirit through the deck design and interior arrangements, by maximising the use of volumes and minimising the impact of any restrictions. For example, the position of the mast had a great influence on the way the interior is arranged, and we were able to draw up a practical, harmonious solution for the table-galley-sofa area.”

Custom Line launched the Navetta 33, Renewal 3, at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona. The white-hulled Renewal 3 is Custom Line’s fifth launch of 2022 and its latest Navetta 33, a 108ft four-deck motor yacht with a beam of almost 25ft (7.5m).

Renewal 3’s European owner worked with Custom Line Atelier on the interior design, which features contrasting woods, mixing grey with white veining for the walls and furnishings, and dark brown for the parquet, along with satin-finish metal and Arabescato Carrara marble.

The yacht features large lounges on the main and upper decks, and spacious exterior spaces such as the covered aft decks, partially covered flybridge and the foredeck of the upper deck. Guest accommodation comprises the full-beam widebody owner’s suite forward on the main deck and four guest cabins on the lower deck.

The SL90A has only one side passage on the main deck, on starboard side, and a widebody design to port, where a drop-down bulwark and full-height lateral windows create views directly overlooking the sea. The flybridge is also asymmetric, with the starboard walkway reaching as far as the forward sunpads, while the portside passage leads to steps down to a cosy bow lounge on the main deck.

The main deck features a large saloon and dining area, galley and a forward full-beam master suite, which has dedicated access to the bow lounge. The lower deck includes three guest cabins and crew quarters, as well as a tender garage in the stern.

This year’s PGYC Easter Regatta in Puerto Galera featured 14 yachts, the largest fleet of any regatta in the Philippines since the start of the Covid pandemic.

The country’s longest-running sailing event featured the likes of Karakoa, Bellatrix, Hurricane Hunter and Selma Star from Subic Bay and Punta Fuego in the IRC racing class. Furthermore, the participation of Philippine Sailing Association race-management staff gave a new dimension to the on-water race organisation for the IRC and Cruiser Racer divisions.

Due to Typhoon Malakas moving north and away from the Philippines’ east coast, the first-day breeze along the Verde Passage for the IRC and Cruiser Racing divisions was from the west instead of the usual easterly. The start and finish line for the IRC and Cruiser Racing divisions couldn’t be moved, so the racers were started westward, towards Talipanan Beach, for the windward-leeward races.

In the IRC division, fierce competition between Ray Ordoveza’s Karakoa and Bellatrix was evident, with the former intent on overcoming their defeat (by seconds) during the Punta Fuego Regatta in March. Selma Star, the actual star of the Punta Fuego regatta, was there to mix up the second and third places after Karakoa won both the windward-leeward races of the day.

Rags, designed by Bruce Farr in the 1970s, showed she still had the winning edge, outperforming the newer yachts in the Cruiser Racer division by virtue of the knowledge of Alan Burrell and the skills of Suzie Burrell.

Day two, with the traditional easterly breezes in evidence, was more of a stretch for the IRC and Cruiser Racer division yachts with a rounding of Verde Island and the avoidance of the rocky outcrop on the east end of the island.

The wind on the day favoured the back of the fleet and Karakoa was demoted to fourth due to poor preparation and some unnecessary rivalry with Bellatrix. Albert Altura’s Hurricane Hunter offered an entertaining spinnaker run to the finish but could only achieve third place after the ratings were applied.

The final day saw the IRC and Cruiser Racers heading for the eastern tip of Verde Island again but with a run down to Small Tabinay Beach before the finish. The wind and tidal flows favoured a direct run to Verde Island and Karakoa stretched her legs beyond all competitors and was about four minutes clear (corrected time) at the mark.

On the run to Small Tabinay, however, the wind lightened at the front and increased at the back, so the advantage was lost. A prayer to the weather gods changed everyone’s fortunes, with Karakoa being able to round Escarceo Point in a timely fashion while the remainder of the fleet was compelled to tack out towards Calapan.

The real entertainment, however, remained the final turn and the run along Long Beach to the finish off Haligi Beach, with Karakoa mastering the predictable gusts out of the Manila Channel and finishing with full spinnaker.

However, Hurricane Hunter and Emocean I both highlighted that they needed some crew training for handling an out-of-control spinnaker – at one point it looked as though Hurricane Hunter may T-bone the finish-line boat but instead, sensibly, opted for a very wet spinnaker. Rags and Selma Star showed that caution before the wind was more important than seconds gained in the final moments.

Overall, a fantastic three days of racing for the IRC and Cruiser Racers, with Karakoa and Rags establishing their dominance.

Sanlorenzo’s sister brand will stage the world premiere of the BG54 at the Palma International Boat Show in Mallorca.

The BG54 can reach 35 knots with IPS propulsion

Bluegame is staging the world premiere of the BG54 at the Palma International Boat Show (April 28-May 1), where the new model will be on display alongside a BGX60, the smaller sister of the iconic BGX70 that revolutionised the Italian brand.

The yacht has a large social area in the bow

Available with two or three cabins, the BG54 is the newest model in the brand’s more traditional BG range, which was expanded last year by the addition of the BG72, an ‘open’ version of the BGX70. At over 54ft 4in length and with an almost 16ft beam, the BG54 sits between the BG42 and BG62 models that helped relaunch the brand under Sanlorenzo’s ownership.

The huge aft platform fits sunpads and loose furniture

In true Bluegame stye, the BG54 features a huge aft swim platform that comfortably fits multiple sunpads lengthways. The model features the Volvo IPS propulsion system, which allows the engines (twin D11-IPS800 or D11-IPS950s) to sit below the aft platform and create more room inside the lower deck.

Sofas surround the flexible cockpit table

Up three steps is the open cockpit, which features sofas on all four sides around a flexible table, while forward is a bench-seat helm station facing a reverse-angled windshield. The hardtop covers the helm and cockpit seating areas and even offers a small sunpad on top.

Steps lead down to the galley

The walkaround design features side passages to the bow, which has a forward-facing sofa and a large island sunpad. Steps from the helm area to the lower deck lead to the interior galley on starboard side, from where guests have day head access to the port bathroom shared by the forward cabin.

Full-beam master suite in the two-cabin option

Midships is the option of a full-beam en-suite owner’s cabin midships or two similar guest cabins, with the en-suite or shared bathroom to port. Bluegame, like Sanlorenzo, is represented in Asia by Simpson Marine.
