The new Ferretti Yachts 670 features refreshed exterior styling and a new interior by IdeaeItalia that includes a spectacular 18sqm, two-level master suite.

Ferretti Yachts has presented its new 670, as the Italian builder continues to renew its Flybridge range with interiors by IdeaeItalia. Other upgrades to the model include exterior restyling with architect Filippo Salvetti and layout changes on all three decks.

Retaining an overall length of 20.24m (66ft 5in) and a beam of 5.38m (17ft 8in), the yacht was designed in collaboration with Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee – chaired by Piero Ferrari – and its Engineering Department.

Twin 1,000mhp MAN V8 engines give a top speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots, figures that rise to 32 and 28 respectively with the optional 1,200mhp versions. Two Seakeeper NG6 gyroscopic stabilisers are among other options.

A world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival, the new yacht is a renewed version of the Ferretti Yachts 670 that launched during the brand’s 50th anniversary in 2018 and represented its first collaboration with Salvetti, who has since handled the exterior styling of all Ferretti Yachts models.

Ferretti Yachts, 670, Filippo Salvetti, IdeaeItalia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival, Classic, Contemporary

On the new edition, the aft cockpit and swim platform cover an area of almost 20sqm and offer alfresco dining, comfortable seating, direct access to the water, two spacious storage compartments in the transom and a tender lift for a 3.45m tender.

The 11sqm foredeck, which can be covered by a bimini top, features a lateral sofa and two longitudinal sofas facing each other, plus the option of two tables that can help convert the forward sofas into large sunpads.

Ferretti Yachts, 670, Filippo Salvetti, IdeaeItalia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival, Classic, Contemporary

The flybridge has a similar layout to the first version, but with more seating space in the C-shaped dinette to port, while to starboard is a wet bar. A large aft sunpad is among options. Forward is a sunpad to port and a starboard helm station that can include a Poltrona Frau pilot chair.

The hard top has been completely redesigned with restyled lines and an opening central section, while an electric bimini top is available as an alternative.

Ferretti Yachts, 670, Filippo Salvetti, IdeaeItalia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival, Classic, Contemporary

The new interiors are by IdeaeItalia, which has worked on all new Ferretti Yachts models since debuting on the entry-level 500, where the studio introduced the choice of “warm, earthy” Classic décor or a Contemporary mood “inspired by the colours of the sea”.

Accessible from the aft cockpit via sliding doors, the saloon features two large facing sofas. There’s also a coffee table by the L-shaped sofa to starboard, and an up-down TV behind the port sofa.

Ferretti Yachts, 670, Filippo Salvetti, IdeaeItalia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival, Classic, Contemporary

Two wide steps lead up to the dining area, which is to port and has an L-shaped sofa and glass table. To starboard is a galley with a more functional layout and increased storage, while storage has also been expanded in the lounge.

The helm station is equipped with integrated Naviop-Simrad instrumentation and Poltrona Frau chairs, and benefits from a full-width, pillarless windshield, one of the yacht’s standout new features. A helm door leads to the starboard side deck.

Ferretti Yachts, 670, Filippo Salvetti, IdeaeItalia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival, Classic, Contemporary

Forward, stairs lead down to the lower-deck hallway and one of the yacht’s main attractions – an 18sqm, two-level master suite midships.

The owner’s cabin starts with an elegant private study facing the sea. Steps lead down to a full-beam bedroom with a centrally placed bed, which is flanked by aft doors to a walk-in wardrobe to port and en-suite bathroom to starboard.

Ferretti Yachts, 670, Filippo Salvetti, IdeaeItalia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival, Classic, Contemporary

The lower-deck hallway also leads to a starboard double cabin and a VIP cabin in the bow, both with en-suite bathrooms. A four-cabin layout is also available, replacing the study in the owner’s cabin with a 4sqm cabin. The crew cabin with bathroom is aft and has private access to the cockpit, with options including access to the engine room through a watertight door.

Primus Marine has been appointed as the new exclusive Thailand dealer for Beneteau and sister brand Excess Catamarans. Beneteau was founded in France in 1884 and is celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2024, while Excess Catamarans was only launched in 2019 as part of the multi-brand Groupe Beneteau.

Founded earlier this year, Primus Marine is led by Howard Prime, formerly the Thailand Country Manager for Simpson Marine, where he oversaw the sales of brands including Beneteau. The French builder’s sailboats include the First, Oceanis, Oceanis Yacht and Figaro ranges, while its motorboats include the Flyer, Antares, Gran Turismo and Swift Trawler series.

Howard Prime, Primus Marine’s CEO and co-founder, said: “It’s tremendously exciting to be partnering with Beneteau for sales and after-sales across Thailand. Having been resident in Thailand for over five years, while working in the industry, I’ve personally delivered many new Beneteau yachts to their owners, ranging from First dinghies and keelboats right up to the flagship Grand Trawler 62.

“Beneteau will continue to flourish in Thailand, which has some of the world’s best cruising grounds. With a competitive racing scene encompassing regattas such as the Phuket King’s Cup, there’s an event for every type of yacht owner. Our team are looking forward to growing the Beneteau customer base and delivering excellent customer services via our offices in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket.”

Following the conclusion of its multi-market representation by Simpson Marine, Beneteau has been creating a new dealer network across Asia. Having appointed Asiamarine for sailboats and NextWave Yachting for powerboats in Hong Kong, as well as Amal Yachting for Taiwan (sail and power), the new partnership with Primus Marine further expands support for customers across the region.

Erwan Her, Beneteau Asia-Pacific’s Sales Director, said: “I’m excited to announce our new partnership in Thailand with Primus Marine, which brings strong sales and after-sales support. With offices across the country, Primus Marine is the perfect partner to represent Beneteau and will not only enhance our presence in Thailand but also improve customer service and engagement.

“We are committed to providing exceptional experiences for our customers, and with Primus Marine’s dedicated team, we can achieve this goal more effectively. Together, we’ll work to build a vibrant Beneteau boating community in Thailand and I’m confident that this partnership will lead to exciting new ventures and a stronger brand presence in the region.”

Excess 13

Primus Marine has also been appointed as the country-wide dealer for Excess Catamarans, the fast-growing sailing catamaran brand launched by Groupe Beneteau and which now produces the Excess 11, 13, 14 and 15 models.

Cosmas Grelon, Asia-Pacific Sales Manager for Excess and Lagoon Catamarans, said: “I am pleased to announce the exclusive appointment of Primus Marine as the representative for Excess Catamarans in Thailand.

“This partnership taps into the potential of Excess in Southeast Asia, and I believe Primus Marine will excel in this role. Despite being a newly established dealership, their team led by Howard [Prime] brings a wealth of experience and is highly motivated to deliver an exceptional customer journey. I am confident that Primus Marine will represent Excess at its best in Thailand.”

Excess 11

Prime said the entry-level Excess 11 was scheduled to arrive in Thailand in January and that the young brand’s sailing cats were ideally suited to exploring the country’s spectacular cruising grounds.

“These catamarans have a dynamic look, remarkable colours and sophisticated lines, and are a joy to sail. This is what new sailors are searching for – Excess is built for them,” he said. “We have some exciting new stock boats arriving in the Kingdom, so we look forward to meeting many of our future customers during 2025 and introducing them to the brand.”

La Spezia is among the Sanlorenzo Group’s production facilities in Italy

The Sanlorenzo Group has announced its new organisational structure, which has been updated following the acquisitions and integration of the Finland-based Nautor Swan shipyard and the Simpson Marine dealership in Asia-Pacific earlier this year.

The new-look organisation includes a revision of Sanlorenzo Group’s business divisions and an updated list of division and brand leaders who all report directly to Massimo Perotti, the company’s Chairman, CEO and majority owner.

Tommaso Vincenzi has been appointed Executive Director of Sanlorenzo, and will manage and coordinate the company through the Yacht and Superyacht business units, which represent the brand’s composite and metal models respectively.

Vincenzi joined Sanlorenzo’s Yacht Business Unit in 2008. As the division’s COO from 2015 then President from 2022, he was crucial to the company’s strategic development, through the launch of new models, opening of new plants and improvement of production capacity to support the growth of volume, revenue and profitability.

Carla Demaria remains CEO of Bluegame and Giovanni Pomati is still CEO of Nautor Swan. The Sanlorenzo Group’s High End Service and Charter Fleet remains under the responsibility of Luca Cristino, who is also CEO of Simpson Marine Group, which represents Sanlorenzo and Bluegame across Asia-Pacific, and recently opened an Australia office in Sydney.

Luca Cristino speaks at the opening of the Sanlorenzo Australia office

Vincenzo Soria has been appointed Sanlorenzo Chief Sales Officer, overseeing Sanlorenzo Sales Management, developing commercial strategies across different geographical areas, and aligning brand representatives. Having represented an Azimut dealership in Europe from 2002, Soria founded V Marine in 2014 and has particularly strong commercial experience in Italy, France and Monaco.

Finally, Sanlorenzo Group has created the Corporate General Management division, which has been entrusted to Pier Francesco Acquaviva, who joined the shipyard in 2022 as Group HR Director, also becoming Head of Sustainability in 2023.

After graduating in Economics in 2008, Acquaviva joined Ferrari, where he completed a PhD in International and Comparative Labour Relations, continuing from 2014 at the American multinational company Huntsman before moving to Bonfiglioli.

Attilio Bruzzese remains Sanlorenzo Group CFO and is responsible for preparing the company’s financial statements and overseeing Group AFC, M&A and Investor Relations.

Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer for Asia, Camper & Nicholsons

Born in France, with tertiary education in international management at universities in Holland and Italy, after a decade climbing the yachting industry management ladder in Europe and then Singapore, Julien Solari became Chief Commercial Officer for Asia with Camper & Nicholsons, the full-service luxury yacht company headquartered in Monaco.

Here, Yacht Style asks for his insights on the current global strategy of Camper & Nicholsons, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.

How did Camper & Nicholsons perform at the 2024 European boat show season?

Camper & Nicholsons showcased a commanding presence during the 2024 European shows, reinforcing our status as a leader in the yachting industry. At the Cannes Yachting Festival, we displayed five exceptional yachts in the brokerage section at Port Canto, ranging from 27-39m.

The 43m Columbus Atlantique Frette

Additionally, we partnered with renowned shipyards at the Old Port, in particular showcasing the premiere of Numarine’s 30XP as well as our project-managed masterpiece, the 43m Columbus Atlantique Frette.

The Cannes Yachting Festival remains a crucial platform for Camper & Nicholsons. Last year, we were able to sell five of our seven exhibiting yachts, highlighting the significance of this event for driving impactful sales.

The Monaco Yacht Show, the crown jewel of the superyacht calendar, is equally important for our brand. This year, we presented five remarkable yachts: Lioness V (a 65m Benetti), Kahalani (55m Feadship), Aifer (60m CRN), Black Legend (50m Overmarine Mangusta) and New Waves (42m Benetti).

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht Show

Camper & Nicholsons presented five superyachts over 42m at the Monaco Yacht Show

With an additional 10 yachts at anchor, our presence was diverse, and during the four-day show, we welcomed nearly 1,000 guests to view the yachts. The 2024 autumn season positioned us for a highly promising year ahead.

Did you and your colleagues meet many yacht owners or potential owners from the APAC region?

Our team engaged with several, yes. Many were clients we already had established relationships with, and we had carefully curated specific yacht selections and itineraries tailored to their preferences. While the number of buyers from APAC was slightly lower this year, those who did attend were highly motivated and seriously exploring their next yacht purchase.

We had strong engagement from buyers based in Australia, Thailand, China, Hong Kong and Singapore, all of whom expressed considerable interest in the yachts Camper & Nicholsons presented. Beyond APAC, we observed a notable increase in interest from Turkish and Greek clientele.

How was the Singapore Yachting Festival 2024 for Camper & Nicholsons?

It was a resounding success there for Camper & Nicholsons and marked a significant increase in interest from high-net-worth individuals across the region. This was our first time showcasing yachts at the event since 2018, and we were proud to present Hye Seas II, an Azimut 116, and Joyous Journey, a Ferretti Yachts 780.

Windie Tsoi, Paolo Casani (CEO), Julien Solari and Della Pearce of Camper & Nicholsons at the Yacht Style Awards 2024

For my colleague Della Pearce and I, this show was our first Singapore Yachting Festival working with Camper & Nicholsons, following many years leading the two main yacht dealerships in Singapore. It was the perfect platform to reconnect with long-standing clients and it was great to have our CEO Paolo Casani with us to spend time with the team.

Additionally, we were pleased to have Federico Rossi, COO of Rossinavi, join us at the event. His presence facilitated productive discussions regarding Nolimits and Rossinavi. The Singapore Yachting Festival remains the premier yachting event in Asia, and we intend to maintain a strong presence, returning in 2025 and beyond.

How have your approximately 18 months at C&N Asia been?

It has been both a dynamic and rewarding time. Joining Camper & Nicholsons means becoming part of the oldest and most prestigious name in yachting. There isn’t a superyacht owner who hasn’t heard of Camper & Nicholsons.

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht Show

The 88m Project X is part of Camper & Nicholsons’ Europe-based charter fleet

With such a rich heritage comes a deep responsibility – to deliver the highest level of service and professionalism to our esteemed clients, while continuing to write new chapters in this incredible story that began in 1782 in Gosport, England.

Shortly after joining, we expanded our footprint by opening a second regional office in Singapore, at Raffles Place in the heart of the financial district. This move was a natural progression for Camper & Nicholsons, given the rising number of superyachts in Southeast Asia, the significant influx of ultra-high-net-worth individuals relocating to Singapore, and the thousands of family offices established there in recent years.

How are sales this year?

We have focused on strengthening relationships with new clients, particularly in key markets like Singapore and Hong Kong, while also deepening ties with our existing owners. We have grown our sales team, adding experienced brokers who embody both the ethics and expertise that are essential to our brand.

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht Show

Carmen Lau (third left) with Camper & Nicholsons colleagues including Chairman Lester Lam (second left) and Board Member Kenneth Leung (far left)

Hong Kong remains a core market for us, with strong contributions from Carmen Lau, and we were thrilled to welcome Della Pearce earlier this year.

We’re also looking to bolster our presence in dynamic markets like Thailand and Indonesia, which have shown tremendous growth potential in recent years. We’ve closed several notable sales in recent months, including Blue Sky (45m Feadship), Lucy (Tecnomar Evo 120), and Belle Isle (27m Kingship). Additionally, we’ve expanded our number of central agency listings with yachts such as Miss Candy, Hye Seas II, Taku, Zeepard and Speranza II, with several others under discussion.

What about on the charter side?

Our charter portfolio is particularly strong in Indonesia, where we represent the largest fleet of superyachts, including Lamima, Aqua Blu, Vela, The Maj Oceanic and Sequoia. Thailand is another area of focus, as the most charter-friendly destination in the region for yachts over 30m, and we see considerable potential for growth there.

C&N’s charter portfolio is strong in Indonesia, where its superyacht fleet includes the 50m Vela

Demand for charters in Southeast Asia has been robust, with clients increasingly seeking longer, more adventurous itineraries.

What trends are you seeing in the APAC region in terms of yacht-owner interest and shipyard collaborations?

Interest from the APAC region remains strong. Over the past decade, most European shipyards have made concerted efforts to expand into this market, particularly in the 70-110ft range, where several established brands have successfully built dealership networks.

Daniela Duck (third left), Head of New Build Division, in Hong Kong with the Camper & Nicholsons and Nolimits by Rossinavi teams

At Camper & Nicholsons, we maintain excellent relationships with leading shipyards, and Daniela Duck, our Head of New Build Division, fosters these connections. She keeps our brokers informed on the latest opportunities, ensuring our clients are up to date on exciting developments.

In the past three years, our New Build Division has managed, together with Carmen Lau, seven projects for Asia-based owners, including a 37m Benetti, a 43m Columbus and a 24m Codecasa for Hong Kong. Currently, the team is working on several 50m-plus projects, solidifying our position as a key player in new builds not only in Asia but across the world.

While numerous shipyards have approached us for assistance in growing their presence in Asia, we have been selective in choosing our partners. Asia-Pacific offers vast, year-round cruising grounds with stunning waters, but the region still faces infrastructure challenges, aside from established hubs like Phuket and Singapore.

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht Show

The arrival of the Numarine 40MXP in 2025 is expected to boost interest in explorer yachts

As such, we’ve strategically aligned with shipyards that specialise in building yachts designed for exploration and long-distance cruising, which are ideal for this market. We see the 30-50m tri-deck, sub-500GT segment as having the most potential in this region. This size range is a natural progression for owners transitioning from 24-35m yachts, allowing them to fully explore the region’s incredible cruising grounds.

Both Nolimits and Numarine yachts are well-positioned to meet this demand, each offering distinct market positioning and price points. On the client side, we’ve seen a steady flow of in-person enquiries from potential owners. Many of these are particularly interested in luxury explorer yachts and green energy solutions for their vessels – reflecting the region’s growing focus on sustainability and adventure yachting.

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht Show

Nolimits superyachts such as the NL45 are built of aluminium

Over the next two to three years, we anticipate a significant increase in demand, especially for yachts catering to exploration, with growth markets emerging in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Australia.

How does the balance between brokerage and charter business in Asia-Pacific compare to Camper & Nicholsons’ operations in other parts of the world?

In the APAC region, business leans heavily toward sales and brokerage, whereas globally Camper & Nicholsons maintains a more balanced ratio between brokerage and charter activities. The superyacht charter market in APAC, while growing, has yet to reach the scale of more established markets like Europe or the Caribbean.

Thailand and the South Pacific are the key regions for foreign-flagged superyacht charters, but other areas face regulatory challenges. For instance, Indonesia – a vast archipelago with over 17,000 islands and some of the world’s best diving spots – is currently dominated by locally built phinisi yachts. While these traditionally built wooden vessels have seen significant luxury upgrades, foreign-flagged yachts face restrictions on charters in Indonesian waters.

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht Show

Wealthy charter customers are spending more time in places such as Indonesia

If the Indonesian government introduces a temporary superyacht charter licence, like that implemented in Thailand and Australia, we believe the market would see tremendous growth. This would attract more owners to relocate their yachts to Southeast Asia, knowing they could offset costs through charters, and open up the region for a greater influx of high-end charter activity.

Bali’s upcoming marina, set to launch in 2025, is a positive step in the right direction for infrastructure development.

Globally, our charter division is thriving. We manage nearly 60 yachts ranging from 24-90m in length. Our charter management is largely driven by our Monaco office, while our retail charter divisions are spread across our offices in Europe and the US.

The 88m Project X is among charter options in Europe

Charter demand is growing rapidly, particularly for experiential, longer-term charters, with a noticeable increase in interest from the younger generation of HNWIs. This trend, coupled with our global presence, positions us well to meet evolving client expectations in the luxury yachting sector.

How does your region collaborate with other Camper & Nicholsons offices around the world on a day-to-day basis?

Collaboration between our region and the broader Camper & Nicholsons network is essential. Monaco, as operational headquarters, is where our heads of key divisions are based, and regional teams in the US, Middle East, and APAC work closely with them to ensure seamless service.

For example, when we’re preparing a yacht management proposal for a superyacht in Australia, we collaborate with Marianne Danissen (Group Head of Yacht Management) and her Monaco team. Similarly, when presenting a charter management proposal for a superyacht planning to be based in Phuket for the winter season, we coordinate with European colleagues.

The 88m Project X

The market intelligence team also plays a crucial role in supporting our brokers by gathering data for central agency sales proposals. Our strength lies in the breadth of expertise within the company. When working on a client proposal, we ensure that the right specialists are involved at every stage, so we deliver a tailored, comprehensive plan that addresses client queries with precision.

On the sales side, we work closely with other in-house teams on cross-regional deals, particularly when clients or yachts move between APAC and Europe. Our European charter team often handles requests from Asian clients, especially for Mediterranean charters during the summer.

I ensure that any time a member of our Asia team needs support, I quickly connect them with the right people and information. Additionally, I’ve been directly involved in joint marketing efforts, business development initiatives, and facilitating client introductions between regions, ensuring smooth collaboration across borders.

How has the market responded to Nolimits by Rossinavi following its dual launch in Hong Kong and Singapore, and what distinguishes these yachts from others in the 30-45m range?

The dual launch has been a success, generating high-quality meetings and leading to ongoing discussions with potential buyers. Rossinavi’s stellar reputation is well-known, and Nolimits perfectly embodies the finest elements of European craftsmanship with the sophistication, elegance and flair of Italian design – truly the pinnacle of ‘Made in Italy’.

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht Show

Yachts such as the Nolimits NL37+ are built for comfort, and long-range exploration

These yachts are designed for the discerning, experienced owner seeking the level of features, build quality and philosophy typically reserved for vessels above 500GT, all within 30-45m. Built entirely in aluminium, Nolimits have heavy-duty CAT engines, advanced tropical-grade air conditioning systems, transatlantic range (with Suez and Panama certificates), zero-noise technology, double stabilisation, and full commercial compliance.

These yachts are engineered for limitless global exploration, living up to their name in every sense: Nolimits by name, no limits by nature.

How is the early progress of your new partnership with Numarine shipyard, and the prospects for APAC clients?

The early stages of our collaboration with Numarine are looking promising. The partnership gained momentum at the Cannes Yachting Festival this year, where Numarine showcased the 30XP model. We had several clients visit specifically to view it, and others went to Monaco to see the 37XP.

There has been significant interest from potential buyers in these exceptional pocket explorer yachts, with ongoing discussions about custom builds we’re organising client visits to the shipyard in Istanbul.

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht Show

The Numarine 37XP was on display at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show

Numarine’s designs impress, and next year the 40MXP arrives, which we expect to be a great success. This collaboration is shaping up to be mutually beneficial, particularly for our APAC clients seeking robust, long-range yachts. Numarine has already enjoyed considerable success in the US market, and we are optimistic about replicating that success in the APAC region.

How do your responsibilities at Camper & Nicholsons differ from your previous role as a country manager at a top regional yacht services company?

Both the companies and their structures are quite distinct. In my previous role as a country manager, my focus was almost entirely on the Singapore market, where I concentrated on driving new yacht sales for the brands we represented. As is typical with a yacht dealership, the objective was specific – promoting the portfolio of yachts from a range of manufacturers.

However, at Camper & Nicholsons we operate on a global scale, which matches the global needs of our clients. With offices worldwide, we are much better equipped to serve our clients wherever they may require assistance. The range of services we offer is also broader, supporting clients through every stage of yacht ownership.

From a sales perspective, the role now requires us to act more as a consultant, helping buyers find the right yacht that perfectly suits their needs, regardless of the shipyard. The depth of market knowledge needed is greater, which I find much more rewarding.

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht Show

The Numarine 37XP’s main saloon

In this new position, I frequently travel to Hong Kong, which is Asia’s largest yachting hub and home to our main Asia office since 2017, as well as to meet with our shareholders, the Lai Sun Group – who are true yachting enthusiasts. I work closely with our CEO, Paolo Casani, a visionary leader with ambitious plans for the company.

While I now oversee the broader regional market, I am also more involved in shaping global strategy, building relationships with clients and partners, and participating in cross-regional initiatives. The pace is faster, and there’s a stronger focus on elevating Camper & Nicholsons’ global luxury brand and delivering bespoke client services across all regions.

What upcoming initiatives or exciting developments can you share about Camper & Nicholsons?

We have several projects in the pipeline, and Camper & Nicholsons is evolving to position itself as a global luxury lifestyle company. Our vision goes beyond yachting – we aim to offer an all-encompassing experience for clients.

We’re unique in being the only global brokerage firm that provides a full suite of services related to superyacht ownership: from sale and purchase, new builds, and charter (both retail and management) to yacht management, crew placement, insurance, and corporate services.

Camper & Nicholsons, Julien Solari, Chief Commercial Officer, Asia, Asia-Pacific, Nolimits, Numarine, Cannes Yachting Festival, Monaco Yacht Show, Singapore Yacht ShowThe owner’s suite of the Numarine 37XP

On top of that, we have developed our own technology and digital infrastructure to enable greater speed, efficiency and precision, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible service no matter where they are. Some exciting new projects are currently in development and will be announced soon.

In our region, our main goal over the next two to three years is to expand sales of new builds and brokerage. We’ve recently launched collaborations with Rossinavi and Numarine, and we’re eager to deliver these yachts to Asian owners, seeing them cruise in APAC waters. To achieve this, we’ll continue to expand our team, bringing in individuals with the right skills and expertise.

At the same time, we plan to grow our charter and yacht management fleets in the region. We also want to continue expanding services like insurance and corporate offerings to ensure a fully comprehensive experience for our clients.

Globally, we’ve opened three new offices in the past three years – in Dubai, Athens and Singapore – and we’re looking to open two more by mid-2025 in key markets where we don’t yet have a physical presence. We remain open to further expansion whenever the right opportunities arise, ensuring that Camper & Nicholsons is at the forefront of the yachting industry worldwide.

It was Asiamarine’s first time hosting the popular annual event, after the regional dealer took over representation of Lagoon in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand earlier this year. The dealership described the popular event off Phuket’s east coast as “a weekend filled with adventure, relaxation and camaraderie”.

Sunseeker will stage the world premiere of the new-generation Manhattan 68 at the 2025 edition of Boot Dusseldorf, which will be held at Messe Dusseldorf from January 18-26. Held in 16 exhibition halls covering 220,000sqm, the nine-day indoor show is again expected to feature over 1,000 boats and 1,500 exhibitors, and attract over 200,000 visitors.

Sunseeker will display the Manhattan 68 (2025) among its seven models in Hall 6, which features the show’s largest yachts. Featuring an overall length of 69ft 7in and a beam of 17ft 3in, the new Manhattan 68 has a sleeker, more dynamic profile, while all the outdoor areas feature new exterior upholstery crafted from premium materials and available in a contemporary palette.

The redesigned yacht has a new flybridge layout with a larger, more versatile seating arrangement and an ergonomic console with cutting-edge technology. The aft cockpit has been redesigned to offer more functionality and seclusion, benefiting from a built-in privacy screen.

The interior by Design Unlimited includes configurable layouts, with the yacht exhibiting at Boot featuring a four-cabin layout with a private staircase to the full-beam owner’s cabin midships.

Alternatively, the yacht can be configured with a single staircase to all cabins, creating space for an opposing seating group in the main-deck saloon. This layout offers flexibility for a three-cabin configuration with a grander entrance to the owner’s cabin, complete with an office, or it can include a Pullman-style fourth cabin. The Manhattan 68 has a top speed of 31-32 knots with twin MAN engines.

The largest boat in Sunseeker’s line-up will be the Ocean 156, an 82ft 6in flybridge motoryacht with a beam of 21ft 6in and a volume of 156GT. The Ocean 156 had its global debut at the 2024 Southampton International Boat Show in September before its American premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The Poole builder’s display features other new models including the Predator 55, which had its world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival in September. The line-up also includes a Superhawk 55 – which had its world premiere at Boot in 2023 – as well as a Manhattan 55, Predator 75 and a 76 Yacht. The 2024 Taiwan International Boat Show featured a strong lineup of local and international brands as it adopted an all-outdoor format.

This year’s Taiwan International Boat Show in the yacht-building hub of Kaohsiung featured 77 boats as the event featured an all-outdoor format for the first time. Returning after a six-year break, the four-day show concluded on December 1 and overlapped with the Hong Kong International Boat Show.

The Taiwan show was spread across four marina areas in Kaohsiung, situated on the island’s southwest coast. The Argo Marina focused on European brands, Kha Shing Pier 22 Marina and Horizon City Marina showcased Taiwanese builders, and Basin No. 3 featured sub-40ft boats for sale.

Local builder Kha Shing Enterprise showed three Monte Fino models – the 125 Trideck (125ft), F76 Flybridge (76ft) and 66 Voyager (70ft) – while Horizon’s CC105 Explorer (105ft) and Ocean Alexander’s 28L (95ft) were also among leading local builds.

Azimut Yachts had an impressive four-model display comprising the Fly 68, Fly 53, Magellano 60 and Magellano 53 (pictured above), and had a celebratory event for the launch of the new dealership for Azimut in Taiwan: Supreme Yachts. Absolute showed a Navetta 58, also among yachts from Italian builders.

Simpson Marine displayed a Sanlorenzo SX88 (pictured above, left) superyacht and a Bluegame BGX73, the flagship of Sanlorenzo’s sister brand.

British builder Princess was well represented by its S66, V50 and V40. Amal Yachting, one of Taiwan’s leading yacht dealerships, exhibited a Ferretti Yachts 500, Beneteau Antares 9 and Axopar 28 Cabin. Yacht PinAn showed a Galeon 500 Fly, Cranchi E30 Endurance and Quarken 27 Cabin.

A Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54 and four Elan sailing boats were shown by Warhawk Sailing, Taiwan Marine exhibited two Dufour sailing yachts, while Lohas Ocean displayed five sail and motor boats from the Bavaria and Hanse brands.

The show remains both an exhibition of overseas builds for the domestic market, and a showcase of local builders, which have been supplying yachts to international markets – especially the US – since the 1960s. Ocean Alexander and Horizon were founded in 1977 and 1987 respectively.

Jack Chen, longtime Chairman of the Taiwan Yacht Industry Association – which includes 59 local shipyard members, said the show is set to continue its original biennial scheduling, with the next edition slated for 2026.

Chen revealed that Taiwan exported up to US$450 million worth of yachts each year and was well established as one of the world’s leading yacht builders, but that there was much to do to develop the local yachting market.

He explained that while Taiwan shipyards had a reputation for full-custom projects on smaller-scale yachts than elsewhere, some are now enlarging their facilities to be able to build larger hulls.

“Taiwan is planning to start building more marinas,” Chen added. “There’s a lot of interest in waterfront properties, so the goal is to develop hotels and residences with marinas.”

This year’s efforts by Club Marina Cove’s organising team netted a particularly strong boat and yacht display across styles, in a size spectrum that pushed its upper limits to close to 90ft in length, with some generous beams that stretched to over 32ft. As well as the 50 boats, vendors specialising in water sports, engines well as other related hardware, software, accessories and yachting-related service providers – including financing, insurance and marine communications attracted about 5,000 visitors.

The mostly recent boat models displayed were produced by many of the best-known shipyards and brands in China, Europe, the UK and the US. In-water and on-land exhibitors included some of the most established companies and dealerships based in Hong Kong and beyond.

“In a quarter of a century, the Hong Kong International Boat Show has evolved from a local event into a highly popular global show for both the boating community and the trade in the Asia-Pacific Region. This is made possible with the long-time support of the boating industry and buyers and visitors from around the world,” said Club Marina Cove General Manager, Winnie Ng of the 2024 event. “We hope the government could recognise the increasing demand for pleasure-boat moorings and berths. An increase could benefit the industry which in turn contributes to more employment and business for shipyards, marine equipment, services and supplies and marine tourism.”

Yacht Style asked a number of exhibitors, how HKIBS 2024 went for them.

On the last day of the show, Adam Waters, DCH Marine Managing Director said, “The confidence in the market has seemed positive, and people are supportive of us showing [UK yacht brand] Sunseeker – even some of our previous Princess clients. Our dedication to clients and aftersales service in the past draws them back.

“The Saxdor 400 GTO we are showing has had a nice interest – some from bigger boat owners; the show always has a high quality of owners visiting.”

“The reception of the Galeon 440 Fly at the Hong Kong International Boat Show was exceptional. Many people stopped to marvel at how spacious the boat becomes when the balconies are dropped down,” said Eric Noyel, CEO of Asiamarine, which also launched a new Hong Kong boat club membership at the show. “I was pleasantly surprised by the number of sailing enthusiasts who came to see our Beneteau sailboats – highlighting the great potential of the sailing market in Hong Kong.

“Our Lagoon Sixty 7 was one of the largest yachts on display, and another new model that got attention was the Lagoon 51, designed for Hong Kong Grade 2 license holders.”

Asiamarine receiving interest in displayed Lagoon models

Distributor Asia Yachting hosted the other largest catamaran on show: The Prestige M8. “We were delighted to bring the Prestige M-Line range of multihull motoryachts to the Hong Kong International Boat Show this year and to display it to the public for the very first time,” said Tanguy Tertrais, Asia-Pacific Sales Director of Prestige Yachts.

“The Prestige M8 received a lot of attention from visitors, especially from yacht owners looking at her unique architecture and unrivalled volume of space.”

Other stands to show large-format motoryachts alongside their other models were Ferretti Group Asia-Pacific, where the 88ft 8in Wally WHY200 was striking with its minimalist exterior; and Simpson Marine’s expansive Sanlorenzo SL86 and SX88 were also very imposing.

Meme Poon, founder and General Manager at Grandtech International Engineering – displaying two types of filters at the show: one for fuel, the other for drinking water – said, “We had good responses for our two newly launched products. We had interest in Go Filter, which cleans the fuel, set to the owners’ preferences.

“And our French Eaux water purifiers had captains and ‘boat boys’ saying the system would save time and space rather than having bottled water brought on board. Brokers said they’d consider offering to clients, and a Chinese shipyard showed interest.”

Liam Hailstone, Commercial Operations Manager at Marine Service Asia, showcasing yacht after-care and maintenance services said feedback to the company’s displayed large-format Cox Marine outboard motors had engaged visitors. “The CXO300 and 350 were a talking point with a lot of people we’ve met,” he said on the last day of the show. “Especially when they hear about the demonstration boat we are building that has two of these mounted at the stern. It’s been a good show for us.”

Lawrence Chow, Project Manager at China Pacific Marine distributor and brokerage, and Chair of both the Hong Kong Boating Industry Association (HKBIA) and the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (Icomia) Asia Working Group said, “This year is the most successful boat show ever – with about 50 boats – it’s one of the most impressive boat shows in Asia. And a number of owners brought friends in who were thinking about buying their first boat, which was good to see.

Lawrence Chow at one of two presentations for the Hong Kong Boating Industry Association, which he chairs

“As an exhibitor, it’s very well organised – we had a delivery on the afternoon of the first day and the marina was so helpful getting it in place. And one of our boats, the Jeanneau 55 [an Asia premiere], had to be moved from the show before it ended, for delivery to Hainan, due to weather conditions.

“As a member of the Asia Icomia Group: as we had a few shows happening at the same time or close to each other this year, it would be nice to have a little more coordination on this aspect.”

On Day Two of the event, the HKBIA held three events. In one, a conference on recent marine events in Hong Kong, Chow mentioned that the group’s Economic Impact Survey sent to members some months ago had received only two replies, so the Committee will examine how else to get more input across the industry on this.

Chow noted that the government in Hong Kong has recently made announcements regarding marine tourism being a good avenue to explore. He hoped an HKBIA letter recently sent to the government on this matter, containing proposals, a number of which date back a few years, may have helped officials notice the opportunities and needs in the marine industry and by leisure users. Hong Kong berths and breakwater sites were at the top of the wish list – followed by needs for more infrastructure for boating/marine activities, waterfront restaurants, watersports facilities and holding major racing/rowing events to make use of the government mega-events funding.

Other conference points included a report on the HKBIA’s solidification of better relations with the Hainan Boating Association, and the Icomia Asia Group looking for more in the industry to get involved

The largest parties and networking events of note at the boat show comprised of the annual HKBIA Cocktail, Simpson Marine’s 40th Anniversary Party, Fraser Asia’s Superyacht VIP Night, DCH Marine’s by-invitation cocktail held over two late afternoons/evening, and the Jeanneau 55 launch party, held jointly by parent-company office Beneteau Asia-Pacific and the brand’s dealership China Pacific Marine.

Organisers of the 2025 Thailand International Boat Show have revealed a provisional line-up of yachts for the January 9-12 event at Phuket Yacht Haven, where a Sanlorenzo SL90A and Fleming 85 are among over 50 yachts confirmed for the in-water display.

The four-day show will be preceded on January 8 by the Thailand Yachting Conference and Gala Dinner at Splash Beach Resort. Tickets for both are still available and details are available on the official website.

Phuket Yacht Haven

Following its relocation to Phuket Yacht Haven, the main four-day show will have an expanded exhibition space of more than 10,000sqm in-water and onshore, with over 60-plus exhibitors confirmed.

The 100ft Free Bird will host the Exhibitors and Captain’s Lounge, while the 95ft Lady Eileen II will be home to the VIP Lounge presented by the Cessna and Beechcraft brands owned by Textron Aviation.

David Hayes, CEO of show organiser JAND Events, said: “The support we’ve received from the industry has been exceptional. All the major brokers and brands have confirmed power and sail boats in the water. We’ve also expanded the onshore exhibition zone to accommodate increased interest, with the air-conditioned area now 50 per cent larger than last year and almost full.”

“Phuket Yacht Haven is an excellent venue for not only the event but its location in the north of Phuket also showcases the beauty of Phuket and Phang Nga Bay,” he said.
