Sanlorenzo yacht owners and their families and friends enjoyed unique experiences during the two-day Sanlorenzo Elite Weekend, which started and finished in Phuket, and included trips to Koh Racha Yai to the south and Koh Yao Yai to the east.

The presence of Massimo Perotti, Sanlorenzo’s Executive Chairman, helped elevate the special two-day event, which was the first of its kind organised by Sanlorenzo Asia-Pacific.

“Over two days, Sanlorenzo yacht owners from across Asia came together to celebrate the essence of luxury yachting, bespoke craftsmanship, and the bonds that unite the Sanlorenzo family,” the organisers stated. “The owners could exchange on a more personal level in a relaxing setting, creating new friendships.”

The two-day event began in Kata Rocks on the south end of Kata Beach on Phuket’s southwest coast. Guests were greeted with a welcome breakfast, enjoying views of the Andaman Sea and Sanlorenzo yachts anchored in the bay.

After each guest had received a limited-edition Sanlorenzo Borsalino Panama hat, the convoy of Sanlorenzo and Bluegame yachts cruised south to Koh Racha Yai, a diving paradise known for its crystal-clear blue waters. Guests enjoyed an afternoon of water toys and sea activities, while local attractions included a luxury Thai longtail boat offering scenic rides and photo opportunities.

As the sun set, the festivities moved ashore to The Racha hotel, where guests were treated to a cocktail hour and an exquisite private dinner at Club Del Mar. The evening’s entertainment featured a live band, a traditional Thai dance performance reflecting myths and legends of Southern Thailand, and a fire show.

On the second and final day, after a hearty breakfast, the convoy cruised north along Phuket’s east coast towards a secluded private beach on Koh Yao Yai, where a barbecue lunch and champagne awaited. Owners enjoyed another afternoon of relaxation and fun in the pristine natural setting, before yachts returned to Phuket.

“The Sanlorenzo Elite Weekend is a testament to the brand’s commitment to curating exclusive experiences for its owners, fostering a deeper connection with the sea, and creating timeless memories,” Sanlorenzo Asia-Pacific stated.

Two centuries after it was founded in 1825, the iconic Italian shipyard is still managed and owned by the Codecasa family.

Codecasa operates multiple shipyards

Codecasa is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2025, with the historic Italian yacht builder still managed by successive generations of the founding Codecasa family.

Giovanni Battista Codecasa, a shipwright, founded the original Codecasa shipyard in 1825 in the town of Viareggio. In 1902, ‘Tistino’ Codecasa continued the family legacy, going on to manage the yard through the Second World War and reaching annual production of over 50 sail boats, fishing boats, pontoons, light boats and others.

In 1946, ‘Tistino’ was succeeded by his sons Ugo and Sandro, who looked after the shipyard through the 1960s, a golden era for boatbuilding in Viareggio. When Ugo passed away in 1973, the baton passed onto his son, Fulvio Codecasa, who remains active today.

Fulvio Codecasa

“Fulvio adopted a winning strategy, pushed by a desire of diversification, which brought Codecasa to the centre of the international scene, combining the production of work boats with that of luxury motoryachts,” the shipyard stated.

Fulvio was joined by his daughter Fulvia in 1985 and subsequently by her younger sister Elena. Later, their respective husbands, Ennio Buonomo and Fabio Lofrese, also entered managerial roles. In the 21st century, Fulvia and Ennio’s sons Matteo and Niccolò Buonomo, and more recently daughter Chiara, joined the company.

During Fulvio’s reign, Codecasa has expanded its facilities in the Viareggio area. In addition to the Ugo Codecasa Shipyard founded in 1977, the Codecasa Due Shipyard was opened in 1982 on the old site of the yard in the Darsena Toscana. In 1987, the Codecasa Tre Shipyard in Nuova Darsena was added, while a new premise in Pisa’s Navicelli area was integrated from 2011.

Iconic yachts launched in Fulvio Codecasa’s era from 1973 include the Entrepreneur and Casabella motoryachts cruising in American waters, the 27m Fair Play, 62m Luisella, 32m Blue Velvet and 49m Charly Coppers, which launched the 48-51m series. Early in the 2000s, Codecasa entered the field of fast aluminum yachts with the 35m Maria Carla, a 2004 build owned by Fulvio and named after his wife.

Over the years, Codecasa yacht owners have included Giorgio Armani (Mariù, 2003; Main, 2008), Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce (Regina d’Italia, 2006; Regina d’Italia, 2019), Leonardo del Vecchio (Moneikos, 2006), Paolo Bulgari (Magari, 2011) and Pier Silvio Berlusconi (Dragoluna, 2019).

“Codecasa is not a traditional shipyard,” the shipyard stated. “It benefits from an unparalleled building quality and product recognisability. Generally, a Codecasa yacht follows the lines of the previous ones, improving its nuances, so the word ‘evolution’ is preferred to the word ‘revolution’.

“All its work is centred on loyalty: loyalty from its clients, who have chosen and go on choosing this brand; loyalty established with its co-operators; and loyalty toward its style. These 200 years of activity are also the result of many people’s work and passion. Today, Codecasa Shipyards are in all respects a large family that proudly and affectionately carries forward the value traced and impressed by their founders.”

The French builder has debuted the F4.3, which follows the F4.9 and F5.7 in the brand’s new-look F-Line range of flybridge motoryachts.

Prestige – whose dealers include Asia Yachting – staged the world premiere of the F4.3 at Boot Dusseldorf 2025. The French shipyard began unveiling its new-look F-Line series of flybridge motoryachts at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival, where it debuted the F4.9, a model making its Asia premiere at this year’s Japan International Boat Show in Yokohama from March 20-23.

Last September, Prestige presented the F5.7 at the Cannes show before announcing in December it had delivered its 5,000 yacht since the brand was founded in 1989 within the Beneteau Group. In January 2025, it soon followed up with the debut of the F4.3, successor to the Prestige 420, which has sold about 250 units.

Featuring the luxurious materials and finishes that Prestige has also introduced on the X-Line and M-Line models, the F4.3 is also distinguished by its design, which includes a hydraulic swim platform, optional beach club galley, and a single door to a cockpit with a flexible table and L-shaped sofa.

Outdoor areas include a foredeck featuring integrated sunpads with adjustable backrests, and a flybridge with C-shaped seating around a table, a forward sunpad and a helm station to port.

The interior includes the new F-Line models’ signature ‘OceanView Galley’, which occupies the width of the saloon on the F4.3. Sliding doors on both sides offers access to the saloon, which has a C-shaped dinette to starboard and a bench-seat helm station to port. Below deck is a full-beam master suite midships and a VIP cabin in the bow, and the option of one or two bathrooms.

Jean-Francois Lair, who has succeeded Erwin Bamps as Brand Director of Prestige, said: “We clearly see a return in investing in a higher brand positioning and great product innovation, with the success of our new F-Line generation, and the M-Line becoming a key pillar of the Prestige offer.”

With the M-Line now accounting for about 25 per cent of its turnover, Prestige will debut its M7 multihull motor yacht at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival from September 9-14. Featuring an overall length of 58ft, the M7 will join a multihull line that started with the M48 and expanded with the flagship M8, a 65-footer, with all three models featuring exteriors by Italy’s Garroni Design.

Like the M8, the M7 features naval architecture by Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group and the efficient hull design can be complemented by a Long Range pack for increased autonomy and a Silent Mode option.

The M7 offers about 200sqm (about 2,150sqft) of exterior and interior living areas, which Prestige stated is equivalent to the space offered on a 70-75ft monohull motoryacht, yet the multihull design results in 40 per cent less fuel consumption. The M7 includes four en-suite guest cabins including a full-beam owner’s suite located forward.

As well as the F-Line and M-Line, Prestige produces the S-Line series of sport yachts (coupe versions of the F-Line models) and the X-Line range of wide, crossover yachts distinguished by reverse-raked windscreens, with the X70 featuring a full wide-body design and the X60 including just a port walkway on the main deck.

Northrop & Johnson Asia-Pacific turned heads with their presentation of the 36m SpaceCat powercat, which quickly became one of the show’s most talked-about vessels. Thailand Yachting Conference: A Full Day of Insight and Collaboration

On January 8, a day before the official start of the boat show, the Thailand Yachting Conference attracted over 100 attendees including industry leaders, government officials, educators and yachting enthusiasts.

The conference was held a day ahead of the show

The event’s packed agenda featured expert-led sessions on everything from workforce development to regional tourism, and attendees praised its practical focus and valuable networking opportunities.

·       Workforce and Skills Development:

The morning began with presentations on Thailand’s marine workforce. Representatives from the Thai Skills Department and technical colleges outlined programmes designed to enhance local capabilities and access government support. “Upskilling is essential for maintaining a competitive edge in the yachting industry,” said Somyos Sanyaviree, who highlighted existing training collaborations with marine businesses.

·       Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility:

Environmental issues were front and centre during a series of presentations led by experts including Dr Chantinee Boonchai. The session provided practical solutions to reduce the industry’s ecological footprint, covering topics like eco-friendly maintenance and sustainable tourism practices.

Yann Martinie de Maisonneuve carves a destiny in Sulawesi

Smitten by the traditional double-masted phinisi sailing yachts of Indonesia, French marine carpenter Yann Martinie de Maisonneuve journeyed from his first self-designed wooden hull to co-founding Pacific High bespoke yacht maker and charter company.

“The line is not so stable here, it could cut out, so don’t worry if it does – it happens,” Yann Martinie de Maisonneuve mentions at the start of our conference call, in December 2024. The co-founder and Director of Pacific High, the luxury phinisi builder and customised-charter company, was speaking in South Sulawesi, while moving forward with his latest hull, Sanya, in the company’s shipyard in Bira.

This in-build Indonesian phinisi sailing yacht is Martinie de Maisonneuve’s sixth all-hardwood sailing yacht, built with traditional materials, methods and craftsmen as a starting point – with modifications for its performance and passenger experience – and is rooted in his accumulated, hands-on knowledge of crafting yachts there from 2009.

“I started to build my first boat two weeks after arriving,” he said. “It took nine months to launch and sail her away, and the same time to learn the Indonesian language. It is very important to be able to communicate effectively with all the boat builders, woodworkers, sailors, and engage with the local community. I would like to think that we [now] play a part in Bira to keep the tradition of phinisi boatbuilding alive.

The 36m Sanya, due to join the fleet this summer, in build at the Pacific High shipyard in Bira; Photo: Pacific High

“Bira holds a unique significance as one the few locations in Indonesia where large maritime vessels have been constructed for centuries. This rich tradition fosters a vibrant economy centred around boat building and maritime activities. Our team is composed of multiple generations from this area, including skilled sailors and dedicated carpenters, which cultivates a profound sense of unity and shared purpose.

“Each member of our workforce is deeply committed to their craft, taking immense pride in their contributions. Together, we strive towards a common goal, ensuring that our legacy of excellence in traditional boatbuilding continues to thrive.”

This August, Sanya – a name of Balinese and Sanskrit derivation, meaning The First Ray of Light – is due to be the fourth phinisi hull in the 2018-launched Pacific High fleet. At 36m in length, it will be the second ‘honeymooner’ model with a single ocean-view master suite and a lower-deck cabin, both en suite, as is standard in Pacific High yachts.

The 31m Senja, Pacific High’s first ‘honeymooner’ phinisi in full sail; Photo: Filippo Cesarini

Sanya will be a twin sibling to the 31m Senja (launched in 2021), meaning ‘dusk’ in Indonesian, which is also built with a single suite on the main deck, and designed with full privacy for couples or small families in mind.

“When first discussing the commission to build ‘another Senja’ – one-master-cabin honeymooner, for two to four passengers – we agreed with the owner that we envisioned Sanya becoming the benchmark for our phinisi builds in terms of aesthetics, quality of workmanship, and safety,” said Martinie de Maisonneuve.

“While Senja’s aesthetic is retained in terms of the overall physical layout, most enhancements that take place may not be immediately obvious. Sanya’s length overall is 36m compared to Senja’s 31m, with most of the additional space used for a larger engine room, crew quarters, and storage areas. Sanya will also feature steel masts instead of wooden ones, though the difference will be hardly noticeable – this change was made for improved longevity and easier maintenance.”

Pacific High’s other two previously constructed phinisis each have ocean-view suites. Nataraja (Lord of Dance – a form of the Hindu god Shiva), at 32m in length, also has a Deluxe Cabin, plus an open-air dining space with wide panoramas; and 33m Dewata (2023, bearing the name of an Indonesian term meaning Divine Being) has an additional lower-deck cabin, allowing privacy between decks.

Majik, also launched in 2023, at 42m in length, was a commission from a private investor and is not part of the company fleet.

Growing up on the scenic coast of western France, Martinie de Maisonneuve’s connection to the ocean was immediate. Pursuing formal training in naval carpentry, a foundation was laid for a career marked by creativity, a keen interest in precision, and respect for traditional shipbuilding.

In 2009, when Martinie de Maisonneuve ventured to Bira, the heartland of the country’s phinisi boat-building tradition on the edge of Indonesia’s Banda Sea, after immersing himself in this craft, he began devising ways to harmonise the centuries-old techniques with modern building and design innovations, which are still constantly evolving.

Today, additional key elements of Martinie de Maisonneuve’s take on phinisi building melds fusing the functional and luxurious while remaining fundamentally connected to the cultural and environmental contexts of their operation base, often drawing inspiration from Indonesia’s storied maritime heritage.

For him, a completed phinisi yacht is more than a mode of transportation. “It is a vessel of exploration, comfort, and cultural immersion,” he said.

Martinie de Maisonneuve’s first sailboat build in Bira in 2009, Zirbad – meaning The Land Below the Wind, used in Indonesian in reference to the Malaysian and Indonesian stretch of islands dimensions in Borneo and Sulawesi waters – was 22m in length with a beam of 4.5m.

“She was a local lambo – which is very similar to a [single-masted-sailing] sloop,” said Martinie de Maisonneuve. “I sailed her from 2010 to 2015, for about 70,000 nautical miles, first personally and then as a charter operation, before selling her to a private owner.”

Following the years of sailing Zirbad, came his second construction: Nataraja. This 32m phinisi was the first to embody Martinie de Maisonneuve’s true ‘traditional build meets elevated modern comfort’ spirit.

In 2018, a fortuitous crossing of paths with Danish couple, Peter and Charlotte Galsgaard occurred. They fell in love with the charm of phinisi yachts and the seas of Indonesia, during one of Martinie de Maisonneuve’s cruises, and the three brainstormed, which led to an enthusiastic partnership and launch of Pacific High luxury phinisi cruising company.

The elevated revamp of Nataraja and the setting of new service standards got the ball rolling, establishing the fledgling operator’s hull number one.

MEMORABLE CRUISES AND PHINISI-OWNERSHIP PLANS

With the company in progress, the co-founders’ agreed direction for the charter-guest and potential phinisi-owner experience would focus on “client-centricity”, which had the biggest hand in determining the direction of future builds. “Our mission is to deliver highly-personalised yachts, tailored to individual preferences, ensuring exclusivity and satisfaction,” Martinie de Maisonneuve explained.

Through Pacific High, he pursues the vision of offering guests an authentic connection to some of Asia’s coastal beauty and rich seafaring traditions, while laying the groundwork for an expanded presence across the luxury travel landscape. This has been given solid potential by a strong core team formed since 2018.

Alongside the three co-founders, Johanna Mérer – with extensive experience navigating Indonesian seas and overseeing operations – joined as Partner and Fleet Director. Clarice Jamain, initially General Manager, became Head of Sales and Business Development in January 2025, leveraging her expertise to expand Pacific High’s reach.

Also in January, Fabien Audibert became Pacific High’s new General Manager. With over 20 years of experience in luxury yachting and hospitality, he brings a strong track record in operational and client service excellence.

With a comprehensive approach encompassing design, construction, ownership, and management of private luxury yacht charters, Pacific High offers curated travel experiences.

Furthermore, the company has expanded its offerings to include luxury management services and some exploring into seedling propositions that Martinie de Maisonneuve had been researching and begun planning before co-founding Pacific High – including waterfront development and investment, and private aviation services within the Asia-Pacific.

THE SHIPYARD

The Pacific High shipyard in Bira is the first of its kind: a dedicated facility that spans 5,000sqm with an 80m seafront, providing ample space for operations. Capable of accommodating up to four new builds simultaneously, each with a length overall of up to 65m, the shipyard is an impressive phinisi-building site.

A one- or two-master cabin yacht takes between 13 to 16 months to build, depending on the level of customisation and changes to the original design while under construction. A 40-50m yacht would take 24 to 28 months.

Looking ahead, Pacific High continues its niche within the traditional yacht-building sector with a new collaboration with Alur Biru Maritim (ABM) – a joint venture between the Korean conglomerate ST International and SLM (Sinarmas LDA Maritime) – a collaboration between Indonesia’s Sinar Mas, owned by the Widjaja family, and France’s Pacemar, owned by the Louis-Dreyfus family, which commissioned Sanya.

“ABM and SLM CEO Matthieu Lavoine sailed with us in Raja Ampat on Senja a few years ago and appreciated our service and yacht experience; starting discussions between us in 2023 and the signing of Sanya in 2024,” said Martinie de Maisonneuve. “Our partnership is strong and we are aiming to build several yachts together, along with other development plans.

“Pacific High’s current objective is to initiate the construction of three large units annually, each exceeding 40m in length. During 2025, we will commence work on a new 54m superyacht, while also engaging in discussions regarding two additional models measuring 43 and 49m.”

For personal commissions, Martinie de Maisonneuve mentioned Pacific High does not confine itself to targeting a specific market.

“Instead, we focus on individuals who value the yachting lifestyle and seek investments that are not only enjoyable but also financially viable. Our clients typically envision their yachts as dual-purpose assets generating revenue through our cruise operations while providing them with the opportunity to indulge in several weeks of leisure on board each year.”

VISION FOR 2025 AND BEYOND

While the imminent arrival of Sanya solidifies Pacific High’s fleet with a second honeymooners’ hull, and Martinie de Maisonneuve and Pacific High are currently also working on conceptualisation of larger yachts ranging from 49-64m for client requests, there are also plans to expand charter-operation locations. Thailand, the Philippines and the Maldives are being considered.

“The dream is to bring our boats to these places in the future,” said Martinie de Maisonneuve. “Given the success our yachts are having in Indonesia, we believe it is an opportune moment to expand our operations into Southeast Asia and other strategic locations.

Realistically for 2025, as a strategy, we are focused on establishing partnerships with key local individuals or companies. I believe collaborating with strong local partners is essential for growth and ensuring we deliver the same exceptional experiences [elsewhere]. We are already in talks with potential partners in Thailand and the Maldives.”

Additionally, the company is diversifying into waterfront real estate projects, creating exclusive developments that merge oceanfront luxury with sustainable design principles. Leading this charge is Martinie de Maisonneuve, whose entrepreneurial spirit continues to propel Pacific High toward leadership in luxury and hospitality throughout the region.

“By aligning our maritime endeavours with complementary services, we create a multifaceted investment opportunity that appeals to discerning clients who seek both enjoyment and financial returns.” he said. “The year 2025 looks to be an exciting one for us.”

Octave has accommodation for 10 guests and a huge range of toys

Octave, a 2018 Sanlorenzo SL118 based in Thailand, has joined the Burgess charter fleet. Available for charter in Phuket this season from US$141,000 per week, the 36.5m superyacht is managed by eight permanent crew including Captain Emil Dumitrele, who has skippered 100m-plus superyachts.

During the summer ‘low season’, the 120-footer will be available from US$132,000 per week as it cruises across Southeast Asia, with potential destinations including Singapore, Malaysia’s Tioman Island and Indonesia’s Anambas Islands to the east.

Featuring a 25ft beam and a volume of 269GT, Octave is fitted with twin 2,637hp MTU engines as well as zero-speed stabilisers, which reduce rolling at anchor. The yacht can accommodate 10 guests in five cabins, comprising a main-deck master suite plus two VIPs and two twins on the lower deck.

Social areas include a cockpit offering casual outdoor dining and aft views over a waterside zone that includes a drop-down garage door and a hydraulic swimming ladder. A large flybridge includes a covered dining area underneath the hard top plus sofas and sun loungers aft, while a foredeck with integrated sunpads is among other outdoor areas.

The interior features American walnut finishes and elegant parquet flooring. The main deck includes a large saloon flanked by a balcony to starboard, while forward is a formal dining area. Further forward is the full-beam master suite, where hydraulic gullwing windows on both sides offer panoramic views.

Octave has a Williams DieselJet 565 tender, while toys include a jetski, sailing dinghy, wakeboard, paddleboards, inflatable kayaks, towables and floaties, as well as diving and fishing gear.

“Imagine starting the day with a leisurely breakfast on the sundeck, the gentle sea breeze complementing the breathtaking island views. Adventure-seekers can plunge into the Andaman Sea as the crew readies an array of water toys, while those looking to unwind can recline on the foredeck sun pads or shaded flybridge loungers,” Burgess stated.

“As Octave glides towards a secluded island paradise, guests can retreat to her expansive air-conditioned lounge or indulge in alfresco dining on the main deck. At anchor, her zero-speed stabilisers ensure supreme comfort, whether enjoying cocktails on her private balcony off the main-deck lounge or taking a refreshing dip via the hydraulic swimming ladder.”

The marine industry has paid tribute to Jouko Huju, who passed away on January 21, 2025, following a brief illness. The Finn is survived by his wife Leija and two daughters.

Huju, who held both an MBA and a Doctorate in Business Administration, had a remarkable career that began in 1978 and centred on the marine industry from 1996, including leadership roles at ICOMIA, Finnboat, IFBSO and GMBA.

From 1996-2017, Huju spent 21 years as both a Board Member of IMCI (International Marine Certification Institute) and CEO of Finnboat, Finland’s marine industry association, where he subsequently spent two years as Chairman. Huju was an Honorary Member of both IMCI and Finnboat.

He was a Board Member of ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industry Associations) from 2002-18, serving two-year terms as President from 2004-06 and 2016-18. Huju also played an active role in the creation of the European Boating Industry (EBI) federation in 2009, serving as a Council Member for its first two years.

At the time of his passing, Huju was Managing Director of IFBSO (International Federation of Boat Show Organisers), having previously been a consultant then transition manager.

Founded in 1964, the organisation stated that ‘IFBSO 2.0’ was fully operational under Jouko’s leadership by METSTRADE in November 2024, with his efforts leading to a new operational structure and legal entity, “an agile member information system and a dynamic framework of working groups and work packages”.

An IFBSO statement read: “Jouko had an extensive and impactful career in the leisure marine industry, including his leadership roles at Finnboat and ICOMIA, before playing a pivotal role in the reorganisation of IFBSO.

“The loss of Jouko is a devastating blow to IFBSO. He was a dear friend, a kind-hearted visionary, and someone whose presence left a lasting impact in a remarkably short yet intense period. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends and loved ones. He will be profoundly missed.”

In 2019, Huju founded Global Marine Business Advisors (GMBA) and was COO of the network of independent marine industry consultants.

US-based Thom Dammrich, a lifelong friend and GMBA colleague, said: “As I reflect on the remarkable journey we shared over the years, my heart is heavy with the loss of my dear friend and colleague Jouko Huju. Jouko was not just a leader in the marine industry; he was a guiding light and a source of inspiration for all of us fortunate enough to work alongside him.

“His passion for the boating sector was unparalleled, and his unwavering commitment to promoting sustainable practices and fostering collaboration transformed not just businesses but organisations. Jouko had an extraordinary ability to connect people, to see potential where others saw challenges, and to ignite a shared vision for a brighter future in the marine industry.

“Beyond his professional achievements, Jouko was a true friend. He had a way of making everyone feel valued and heard, always taking the time to listen and offer support. His kindness, wisdom and infectious enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed.

“As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind – a legacy of mentorship, collaboration, and an unyielding belief in the power of community. Thank you, Jouko, for everything. Your impact will be felt for years to come, and you will always be remembered with great affection and respect.”

CRN launches Amor a Vida in Ancona

CRN Yachts kicked off 2025 with the private launch ceremony of the 67.55m Amor à Vida at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona on Italy’s east coast. Formerly known as Project Maranello, the 1,450GT, six-level custom build was designed inside and out by Venice-based Nuvolari Lenard.

“The exterior styling of Amor à Vida is sleek, taut, sweeping and powerful – a distinct stylistic identity that fully embraces the owner’s specific requirements and embodies his vision and lifestyle,” CRN stated.

Having received the steel hull and aluminium superstructure at the Ancona shipyard in 2023, CRN has since focused on carpentry, fitting out, machinery, systems and equipment prior to furniture installation, while the hull exterior was also primed and painted. Work continues on the interior and exterior outfitting, as well as on testing and sea trials through to handover to the customer, which is scheduled for spring.

Amor à Vida is being project managed by Moran Yacht & Ship, the owner’s representative, whose roles through the build and delivery process include on-site supervision, coordination support for external contractors, technical inspection and approval.

The 221ft superyacht accommodates up to 12 guests and 17 crew, while advanced technical features include a state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion system that increases the fuel efficiency of the main engines and generators. The yacht is also fitted with a heat-recovery system that manages hot water for the pools and plumbing system, so reducing energy impact and costs.

As well as Amor à Vida, known internally as M/Y 143, CRN’s ongoing builds include its biggest build to date, the 85m M/Y 144, which features exteriors designed in collaboration with Italy’s Vallicelli Design and is expected to launch in 2026.

In 2027, CRN is scheduled to stage two launches including the 70m Project Thunderball (M/Y 145), whose hull and superstructure arrived at the shipyard in 2024. Dutch studio Vripack designed Project Thunderball’s external lines and developed the naval architecture in collaboration with CRN Engineering, while Italy’s Nauta Design handled the interior design and outdoor furniture.

CRN also expects to launch the 67m M/Y 146 in 2027, three years after signing the project with Moran Yacht & Ship. The yacht marks the 10th CRN yacht designed by Nuvolari Lenard, which handled both exteriors and interiors, while CRN Engineering developed the naval architecture.

As the Year of the Wooden Snake dawns on 29 January 2025, it heralds a time of transformation, introspection, and strength. This celestial year is one of profound evolution and self-improvement, making it the perfect backdrop for luxurious timepieces that reflect timeless artistry and bold design, setting new standards in zodiac-inspired horology. As one will come to see, many of these timepieces are limited to just 88 pieces, symbolising good luck while reinforcing an element of exclusivity. LUXUO discovers the finest zodiac-inspired timepieces for the Year of the Wood Snake.

IWC

IWC introduced its Chinese New Year watch at Watches and Wonders Shanghai 2024 in September. This Portofino model — limited to 500 pieces — features a burgundy dial and an automatic winding rotor shaped like a snake. The design remains largely unchanged from the standard model, with the primary difference being these two distinct elements. This follows a trend seen with previous editions, where burgundy dials were paired with thematically shaped rotors. The approach began with the Pilot’s Chronograph for the Year of the Tiger in 2022, continuing with the Rabbit watch in 2023. The possibility of completing a full 12-year zodiac cycle with specific design elements adds to the appeal for collectors, despite earlier disruptions due to pandemic-related challenges.

Longines

The Conquest Heritage Year of Snake model closely follows the standard Conquest Heritage time-only watch design, with a gradient red domed dial and an engraving of a snake holding a Lingzhi mushroom on the closed caseback. Over the years, Longines has released several zodiac symbol watches following a similar design approach, although the brand does not specify how far back this tradition extends. This limited edition — with 2,025 pieces — has the highest availability among the Longines Chinese New Year models.

Regarding the history of the wide circulation of Lunar New Year watches at Longines, it is possible that the brand only began this tradition last year with the Dragon model, which had a limited run of 888 pieces. The Year of Snake model — like its predecessor — features a collaboration with Chinese artist Wu Jian’an, who conceptualised and executed the motif on the caseback, inspired by The Legend of the White Snake. Similarly, The Dragon watch involved a collaboration with artist Zinan Lam, suggesting that this series may continue as a regular feature for Longines.

Bvlgari’s Serpenti Collection

To usher in the Year of the Snake, Bvlgari pays homage to the serpent’s rich symbolism and its deep ties to Chinese culture with the introduction of Serpenti Infinito — a new concept symbolising the transformative power of the snake as a representation of infinity. Continuing the legacy of its iconic emblem, Bvlgari unveils 13 new Serpenti creations, including jewellery, watches, and leather goods, that seamlessly blend the brand’s distinctive serpent design with elements of nature.

Capturing the pure essence of the serpent, the Serpenti Viper pieces are reimagined in rose, yellow, and white gold, adorned with dazzling diamonds. Two new jewellery sets — crafted in either rose or yellow gold — feature a sleek necklace with the signature serpent head gracefully curling around its tail. Accompanying the necklace are hoop earrings, a looped bracelet, and rings enriched with white gold and diamond pavé, showcasing stylised serpent scales. For a more artistic expression, four Serpenti rings draw inspiration from Bvlgari’s High Jewellery creations. Crafted in rose gold, these rings are adorned with multi-sized diamonds, and feature sapphire, ruby, or emerald beads on the serpent’s body, with matching gemstone eyes. A stunning white gold version, embellished with a baguette and brilliant-cut diamonds, adds a touch of luxury to this collection. In the realm of watches, the Serpenti Seduttori combines the elegance of stainless steel with a diamond-set bezel and a bracelet inspired by the scales of a serpent. Meanwhile, the Serpenti Tubogas seamlessly weaves rose gold and stainless steel with pavé diamonds, forming a flexible, solder-free bracelet that coils gracefully around the wrist.

Breguet

Breguet has crafted a limited edition of eight Classique 7145 watches, showcasing the brand’s creative artistry through métiers d’art techniques such as guilloché and engraving. The 40mm rose gold case houses an ultra-slim automatic movement. The dial is hand-engraved in bas-relief, depicting a snake figure with scales and foliage. Guilloché patterns are applied for texture and depth, accentuated with a black galvanic treatment and hand-painted translucent green leaves. The 40mm rose gold case has a slim profile of 6.5mm, with straight lugs and a delicately fluted caseband. The open-tipped hour and minute hands, combined with subtle rose gold indices, complement the handcrafted dial. The Breguet calibre 502.3 is an ultra-thin 2.4mm automatic movement, featuring a 22k gold rotor adorned with hand-guilloché decoration.

Jaeger-LeCoultre

The Reverso Tribute Enamel serves as a stunning homage to the 2025 Year of the Snake, crafted at Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Atelier des Métiers Rares. Featuring deep black Grand Feu enamel dials on both the front and reverse, the watch embodies meticulous artistry through its layered enamelling process and multiple kiln firings at 800°C. The reverse of the watch showcases a majestic snake, intricately engraved amidst fiery motifs, a detail that took over 80 hours to perfect.

Harry Winston

Harry Winston celebrates the Chinese Year of the Snake with an exclusive, limited-edition timepiece — the Chinese New Year Automatic 36mm. Crafted in 18K rose gold, this distinguished watch blends the artistry of fine watchmaking with the symbolism of ancient Chinese culture and mythology. Adorned with a meticulously lacquered snake on the dial, the piece reflects the serpent’s revered role as a guardian of hidden treasures, symbolising the timeless value of time itself. The dial, complemented by green beaded mother-of-pearl and adorned with Harry Winston diamonds, captures the essence of transformation and infinity. With only eight pieces in existence, this limited-edition timepiece embodies the fusion of heritage, luxury, and artistry, making it a rare gem for collectors and connoisseurs alike.

Arnold & Son

Arnold & Son celebrates the Lunar New Year with the release of the Perpetual Moon 41.5 “Year of the Snake”, a limited series of eight exquisite timepieces crafted in red gold. This masterful creation combines the brand’s hallmark features: a manufacture calibre, a large astronomical moon, and an aventurine glass dial base. Adding to its allure, the watch showcases intricate artisanal craftsmanship, making it a stunning tribute to the Year of the Snake.

The highlight of the timepiece is the hand-engraved snake, meticulously carved from 18-carat rose gold. Its lifelike details, including fine scales, a forked tongue, and a broad, flat head, are set against a shimmering blue aventurine glass dial. Enhancing this celestial scene is a large mother-of-pearl moon, complete with realistic shadowing and overlaid with Super-LumiNova for a soft luminescence. The dial also features the constellations Ursa Major and Cassiopeia — delicately painted with luminescent material — creating an ethereal night-sky effect. The case back houses a secondary moon phase display, allowing precise and swift adjustments. At the heart of this timepiece is a manually-wound calibre renowned for its extraordinary precision. The movement tracks the lunar cycle — lasting 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 2.8 seconds — so accurately that it would take 122 years of continuous operation to accumulate a 24-hour deviation from astronomical reality.

Franck Muller

To celebrate the Year of the Snake, Franck Muller has unveiled the Silhouette CX Snake — a limited-edition timepiece that blends serpentine elegance with technical innovation. Marking the debut of the Silhouette CX case, this creation redefines the brand’s legacy, presenting an asymmetrical design inspired by the snake’s fluid motion and enigmatic charm. Crafted in 18k rose gold, the Silhouette CX Snake embodies the snake’s mystique through undulating curves that suggest its form without fully revealing it. Guided by co-founder Vartan Sirmakes, the new case is a bold evolution of Franck Muller’s iconic Curvex designs, offering a tactile and visual experience that is as dynamic as it is elegant. Limited to just 28 pieces, this Asia-Pacific exclusive timepiece builds on the brand’s tradition of crafting unique zodiac watches, following last year’s Vanguard Year of the Rabbit edition and the Cintrée Curvex Ryoko Kaneta Dragon.

The Silhouette CX Snake’s intricate dial mirrors the asymmetrical case, with carefully aligned numerals and a snake motif handset with emeralds in a snow-setting technique. The glittering emeralds form a dazzling, mysterious pattern across the dial, capturing the snake’s allure without overt depictions. Completing the design is a green calf leather strap embossed with a snakeskin texture and reinforced with a rubber underside for durability and comfort.

Hublot

Since 2016, Hublot has honoured each Lunar New Year with exquisite limited-edition creations from its Spirit of Big Bang collection. For 2025, the Swiss watchmaker presents the Spirit of Big Bang Year of the Snake — a masterful celebration of this symbolic creature — available in an exclusive series of 88 pieces. At the heart of this timepiece is a mesmerising gold-plated snake, brought to life with extraordinary three-dimensional detail. Using cutting-edge laser engraving technology, Hublot has etched the serpent with remarkable precision, capturing its lifelike scales and fluid movement.

The black, barrel-shaped ceramic case — a hallmark of the Spirit of Big Bang — is paired with Hublot’s innovative “One-Click” strap changing system for effortless versatility. The ceramic bezel is engraved with an intricate snake-scale pattern, a motif that extends seamlessly onto the black rubber strap. Finished with a unique velvet texture and subtle shimmer, the strap demonstrates Hublot’s ingenuity in creating luxurious details from a single piece of rubber through advanced embossing techniques.

Vacheron Constantin

In honour of its historical connection to China, Vacheron Constantin introduces a new chapter in its Métiers d’Art series, titled “The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac – Year of the Snake”. This annual tradition celebrates the zodiac sign with exceptional artistry, showcasing the Maison’s dedication to blending traditional craftsmanship with horological excellence. For 2025, Vacheron Constantin unveils two limited editions of 25 pieces each, crafted in pink gold and platinum. The dials feature the snake, a symbol of wisdom, renewal, and prosperity, meticulously rendered as a coiled cobra atop a textured rock. This motif pays homage to the centuries-old relationship between Chinese and Swiss cultures, dating back to Vacheron Constantin’s early explorations into Asia in the 19th century when the brand created intricately decorated jewellery watches for Chinese dignitaries.

The “Year of the Snake” timepieces exemplify Vacheron Constantin’s mastery of engraving and enamelling, combining these two métiers to produce breathtaking detail. The cobra and rock are sculpted by a master engraver, who painstakingly carves pink or white gold over three days to create intricate textures and lifelike relief. The cobra’s ochre tones on the pink gold model and anthracite grey hues on the platinum version are enhanced with patina and miniature painting. The dial’s background is crafted using Grand Feu enamel, showcasing a gradient effect that transitions seamlessly from the centre to the edges. The flora, painted using the Geneva technique of opaque flux-coated enamel, adds further depth.

Piaget

Piaget captures the season’s brilliance with exquisite timepieces that shine with vibrant colours and masterful craftsmanship, celebrating life’s golden moments. At the heart of this festive collection is the Limelight Gala Watch, a true testament to Piaget’s artistry and timeless glamour. An icon reimagined, the Limelight Gala Watch draws inspiration from the bold sophistication of 1970s design. Its 32 mm case — crafted in 18K rose gold — is adorned with 62 brilliant-cut diamonds, highlighting the watch’s asymmetrical lugs that gracefully embrace the wrist. The diamond-paved bezel enhances its refined silhouette, exemplifying the signature allure of the Limelight Gala collection. The watch’s Milanese bracelet is a work of art in itself. Meticulously engraved by Piaget artisans, the bracelet features a scale-like texture that shimmers with iridescent brilliance, turning every movement into a statement of luxury. The boutique-exclusive Limelight Gala Precious Watch elevates opulence with its round rose gold case set with 40 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 4.736 carats, further highlighting the Maison’s commitment to craftsmanship and grandeur.

Parmigiani Fleurier

Parmigiani Fleurier’s TONDA PF Xiali Complete Calendar is a landmark creation in watchmaking, honouring the intricate beauty of the Chinese calendar. This world-first timepiece seamlessly blends technical mastery with cultural homage, showcasing the complex lunar-solar calendar system in an elegant and innovative design. The Chinese calendar combines lunar and solar cycles, synchronised through the addition of an intercalary (13th) month approximately every three years. It divides the solar year into 24 terms reflecting the agricultural seasons, while the lunar year follows a 60-year cycle governed by zodiac animals and elemental associations. This meticulous system ensures that Chinese New Year — marking the arrival of spring — aligns with specific astronomical conditions between 21 January and 19 February in the Gregorian calendar.

The TONDA PF Xiali Complete Calendar embodies this complexity through its intricate mechanics and refined aesthetics. The watch features a 42 mm stainless steel case — polished and satin-finished — with Parmigiani Fleurier’s signature platinum 950 fluted bezel. Its imperial red dial — adorned with hand-guilloché Grain d’Orge detailing — is a stunning centrepiece, complemented by rhodium-plated 18ct gold appliqué indices and skeletonised delta hands. The dial displays a remarkable array of information, including the year and zodiac sign, the day and month, and indicators for leap months and long or short months. The TONDA PF Xiali celebrates the precision of the Chinese calendar, honouring its blend of tradition, astronomy, and symbolism. With its perfect marriage of technical innovation and cultural heritage, the TONDA PF Xiali Complete Calendar offers a fitting tribute to the Year of the Snake.

Blancpain

Blancpain marks the arrival of the Year of the Wood Snake in 2025 with its latest Villeret Calendrier Chinois Traditionnel, a timepiece that beautifully bridges Eastern and Western traditions. For the 14th year, Blancpain commemorates the Chinese zodiac with a limited-edition creation, featuring a newly designed snake motif engraved on the watch’s 22K white gold rotor. This edition debuts an elegant platinum case paired with a green Grand Feu enamel dial, a first for the collection. The Villeret Calendrier Chinois Traditionnel is renowned for its groundbreaking integration of the Chinese calendar with the Gregorian calendar and moon phases. First introduced in 2012, it embodies Blancpain’s commitment to blending cultural heritage and technical mastery. With the transition into its second 12-year zodiac cycle in 2024, Blancpain refreshed the designs of the zodiac animals, now showcased through an aperture at 12 o’clock. For 2025, the intricately detailed wood snake appears for the first time on this remarkable timepiece.

The snake — symbolising intuition and wisdom — takes centre stage on the meticulously engraved rotor. Crafted in Blancpain’s Métiers d’Art workshop, the design includes Chinese characters for “serpent” and “wood,” as well as a natural ruby accent. The dial layout ensures that the extensive calendar indications remain legible and intuitive. At 3 o’clock, the watch displays the five elements and their Yin-Yang associations linked to the sexagesimal cycle, while 9 o’clock features Chinese days and months. Double Chinese hours and the zodiac sign of the year appear at 12 o’clock, alongside an aperture for the Chinese leap month. A serpentine hand indicates the Gregorian date, while Blancpain’s signature moon phase is positioned at 6 o’clock. Limited to just 50 pieces, the Villeret Calendrier Chinois Traditionnel 2025 is a fitting tribute to the Lunar New Year and the wisdom and renewal symbolised by the snake.

Dior

The new Dior Grand Soir celebrates the Year of the Snake. Within Chinese mythology, the snake is the symbol of wisdom and strength. The rose-gold-adorned snake is placed in a miniature Toile de Jouy landscape, navigating through a foliage of leaves and flowers delicately made of mother-of-pearl. This mysterious and magical environment is punctuated with rose gold butterflies, echoing the scales of the gliding snake.

CIGA Design Year of the Snake

CIGA DESIGN captures the Lunar New Year with a stunning timepiece that embodies wisdom, vitality, and prosperity. The watch features a golden snake crafted using sculptural techniques and symbolic abstraction. Set against an abstract snakeskin-inspired pattern, the satin-textured, gold-plated snake radiates elegance. The snake itself is more than decorative — it rotates to tell time. The snake’s head indicates hours while its tail tracks minutes. As a nod to Eastern traditions, the watch case is made from jadeite, a material with thousands of years of cultural history. Its jade-like warmth enhances the design, reflecting the fusion of modern aesthetics with timeless heritage. The use of jadeite not only symbolises prosperity and vitality but also highlights the watch’s distinctly Eastern character. CIGA DESIGN’s Year of the Snake watch represents a harmonious blend of culture and contemporary innovation, bringing a fresh perspective to zodiac-themed timepieces.

Perrelet

Perrelet unveils the Turbine Snake, a striking timepiece dedicated to the Year of the Wood Snake. Limited to just 88 pieces — a number symbolising prosperity and luck — the watch celebrates the zodiac sign known for its wisdom, creativity, and mysterious allure. Associated with the element of wood, the Wood Snake embodies resilience and renewal, heralding a harmonious and opportunity-filled year.

The Turbine Snake exemplifies this vision, combining Swiss precision with symbolic storytelling while adhering to cultural themes and rituals. The Turbine Snake is a visual masterpiece. Its red lacquered sub-dial — a nod to luck and protection — is adorned with gold-etched ideograms symbolising well-being and prosperity. At its heart lies a gilded, three-dimensional snake, its head poised above intricately textured coils. This dynamic reptilian motif is revealed in full when the 12 black anodised aluminium blades of the watch’s signature rotating turbine spin with the wearer’s movements. With only 88 pieces available globally, the Turbine Snake is not merely a timepiece but a collector’s item imbued with cultural symbolism and artisanal expertise. Perrelet’s latest creation offers aficionados a unique blend of mechanical precision and artistic expression, making it a fitting tribute to the Year of the Wood Snake.

Raymond Weil

In celebration of the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Snake, Raymond Weil introduces the Millesime Burgundy — a limited-edition masterpiece that seamlessly blends tradition with contemporary elegance. With only 88 pieces available, this exquisite timepiece captures the transformative symbolism of the snake, embodying wisdom, prosperity, and refined craftsmanship.

The Millesime Burgundy honours Raymond Weil’s legacy of fine watchmaking while embracing bold design and understated sophistication. Its deep burgundy dial, a rich symbol of good fortune and prosperity, serves as the centrepiece. Complemented by a matching leather strap and encased in polished stainless steel, the design achieves a harmonious balance between classic simplicity and modern allure. Powered by the RW4200 central seconds automatic movement, the Millesime Burgundy showcases the precision and artistry for which Raymond Weil is renowned. The engraved “ONE OF 88” on each piece underscores its exclusivity, transforming the watch into a coveted collector’s item that celebrates the intersection of time and culture.

Panerai

For the Year of the Snake, Panerai presents a collection of timepieces that seamlessly blend tradition and innovation. Inspired by the snake’s wisdom, grace, and transformative nature, these watches symbolise change and the continuous flow of time. Panerai’s Perpetual Calendar captures the passage of time in its most refined form. With intricate mechanics, it not only tracks every moment but also embodies the enduring essence associated with the snake, making it the perfect companion for this significant occasion.
