Represented by Simpson Marine, Sanlorenzo Asia will present work by Chinese artist Li Qing in the Collectors Lounge at Art Basel Hong Kong.

Sanlorenzo, Simpson Marine, Art Basel Hong Kong, Li Qing, Collectors Lounge, Hong Kong, Hangzhou, Shanghai

Sanlorenzo returns to Art Basel Hong Kong (March 21-25) with the Collectors Lounge on L3 Concourse, where it will present Li Qing’s entitled ‘Landscape with Lighthouses’, curated by Flash Art. Born in 1981 in Huzhou in northern Zhejiang province, Li graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the China Academy of Art in 2007, and today lives and works in Hangzhou and Shanghai.

For Sanlorenzo, he has created an original work that reflects the relationship between humanity and nature. The connection between Sanlorenzo and Li brings a new light on the seascape and the world of navigation, through the study and the different perspectives of the lighthouse form.

The Chinese artist’s work is part of the study initiated by Sanlorenzo through the arts and projected into the future, which led the shipyard to create Sanlorenzo Arts, an interactive collection of works and projects spanning the most important themes of everyday life.

Nick Stratton, Sales Manager of Sanlorenzo Asia, said: “We are thrilled to be presenting Sanlorenzo’s Collectors Lounge at Art Basel Hong Kong. This is an important event for the shipyard and we’re excited to showcase its passion for art and design to a global audience. We believe our commitment to creativity and innovation is reflected in everything we do, from our yachts to our art collection, and we look forward to sharing this with visitors to the fair.”

‘Landscape with Lighthouses’ is a unique work created using a window salvaged from an old building in Hong Kong, which serves to support the entire structure of the painting. Geometrical panels in the shape of a pinwheel are superimposed on a reproduction of the harbour. The different aesthetics of architecture and the sea, order and landscape, are delineated through the grid of the window.

The lighthouse in the centre of the work recalls the entrance to Victoria Harbour, interpreted with a modernist aesthetic. The font of this modelling indicates the relationship between man’s industrial rationality and nature. The lighthouse, standing between the two, becomes a unit of measurement for evaluating and dividing two worlds but is also a symbol of surveillance and travelling from one place to another.

The entire layout of the lounge emphasises a geometric sensibility. The macro-spatial perceptions of the city and nature constantly communicate the work. In the conflict and reverberation between artifice and nature, the beauty of colour and structure leads us to an unknown utopia. Dual worlds intertwine. Futuristic, utopian, vertiginous architecture is traced by the geometry of the wooden structures, defined by the human brain.

An exclusive Meet The Artist event with Li Qing will be held for Sanlorenzo owners and guests on March 22 at 4pm. Please contact sanlorenzo@simpsonmarine.com or your local broker to request an invitation.

Inspired by Benetti’s Oasis Deck, Azimut has developed the Seadeck series, kicking off with the world premiere of the Seadeck 6 in January 2024.

 Seadeck 6

Azimut will stage the world premiere of the Seadeck 6 at Boot Dusseldorf from January 20-28, 2024, with the model to be followed by the Seadeck 7 and Seadeck 8 “between 2024 and 2025”.

Seadeck is Azimut’s first line of hybrid motor yachts and its most efficient series to date, with technological solutions that reduce emissions by up to 40 per cent compared to a traditional flybridge boat of similar dimensions, according to the Italian builder.

Azimut, Seadeck, Benetti, Oasis Deck, Giovanna Vitelli, Boot Dusseldorf, Alberto Mancini, Matteo Thun, Antonio Rodriguez, Low Emission Yachts

Seadeck 7

Signature features include the ‘Fun Island’, a reinvented aft terrace with side decks developed in collaboration with Alberto Mancini, as well as Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, making their debut in the world of yachting.

Over half of Azimut’s fleet is now made up of Low Emission Yachts, models that deliver a 20-30 per cent reduction in emissions. The Seadeck range builds on these efforts, moving closer to the CO2 emissions containment target set by the International Marine Association (IMO) ahead of the 2030 deadline.

 Seadeck 6 ‘Fun Island’

Seadeck is the first series of models from 60ft up that integrates Volvo hybrid propulsion, onboard systems designed to reduce energy consumption and solutions to cut emissions, and a state-of-the-art battery pack. Featuring more than 40 per cent carbon-fibre surface, the planing hull is the most efficient built by Azimut.

The ‘Fun Island’ offers an aft-facing island sunpads in the cockpit as well as an outdoor lounging space that connects with the saloon, which all become one connected social area when the sliding doors are opened.

Seadeck 7 ‘Fun Island’

Giovanna Vitelli, Chair of Azimut-Benetti Group, said: “Seadeck is a new starting point for future generations. We wish, once again, to chart a course that will be an inspiration for the entire industry, so that the theme of respect for the environment is interpreted – as it is for Seadeck – with a concrete approach made up of investment, technological research, and the courage to introduce a new lifestyle that embraces the sea.”

To create the Seadeck Series, Azimut worked Mancini as well as, for the first time, Thun and Rodriguez.

Mancini said: “We wanted to create a boat that puts maximum emphasis on the concept of openness and transparency, and that also represented a radical change in terms of the relationship with nature. With the introduction of the Fun Island, Seadeck is actually a floating island where owners can get away from their daily routine and live in total contact with the sea.”

In their interior design concept, Thun and Rodriguez “work by subtraction to reveal the heart of a space where it’s easier to feel good, a redefinition of luxury based on wellbeing and the choice of natural or recycled materials”. As an example, cork – an age-old Mediterranean material capable of spontaneous regeneration – is used to replace teak.

Seadeck 7 saloon

“We prefer to talk about consciousness rather than sustainability, a philosophy that determines our way of practising architecture,” the design duo explain. “We try to work by subtraction, because reduction means durability, both technical and aesthetic. “And a boat must stand the test of time and be beautiful forever.”

Hull 12 of the Navetta 30

Custom Line has launched the 12th unit of the popular Navetta 30, Belle Île, for an owner in Asia. The first hull of the Navetta 30 was delivered to Hong Kong in early 2021 and was followed by another in the city later that year, and one to Singapore last year.

The latest unit was Custom Line’s second launch in 2023 and followed the 11th hull earlier this year, as the brand resumed its remarkable production at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona.

The 28.43m tri-deck has a beam of 7.3m and features exterior styling by Filippo Salvetti and interiors by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel of ACPV Architects with Custom Line Atelier, which worked with the owner and his team to customise the yacht.

This new Navetta 30 includes a study that doubles up as a relaxation space on the lower deck and a reduced number of guest cabins. For the colour scheme that ties the interiors together, the owner chose a colour palette of pale, neutral shades like beige and white, alternating with touches of aquamarine and light blue.

City Developments Limited completes £395 million acquisition of the iconic marina estate adjacent to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

St Katharine Docks, City Developments Limited, CDL, London, marina, office

Over 90 per cent of St Katharine Docks’ income is from office rentals

City Developments Limited (CDL) has completed the purchase of St Katharine Docks in Central London from funds advised by Blackstone for £395 million (equivalent to about US$480 million as of March 14, 2023) or £751psf (US$914psf) on the existing net lettable area.

The 23-acre mixed-use estate fronting the River Thames comprises over 500,000sqft of Grade A office, F&B, retail and residential space arranged across four main buildings and supporting ancillary spaces, including Central London’s only marina, with berths for up to 185 yachts. It hosts the annual London Luxury Afloat boat show, which will next be held from April 18-22.

Located near London’s financial district, St Katharine Docks attracts over 5.9 million visitors annually, enjoys good connectivity to transport networks, and offers views overlooking the Tower of London, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the iconic Tower Bridge.

Since 2011, the freehold riverside estate underwent a £69.5 million repositioning and refurbishment programme, which included enhancements to the buildings, marina and overall estate.

St Katharine Docks, City Developments Limited, CDL, London, marina, office

St Katharine Docks is one of CDL’s three commercial properties in London

The office component, housed in four main buildings, accounts for around 92 per cent of the estate’s income and currently enjoys an occupancy rate of 90 per cent, with a tenant base across sectors such as consulting, shipping, education and co-working spaces.

Sherman Kwek, Group CEO of CDL, said: “The current uncertainty in the UK has provided us with strategic opportunities to acquire prime assets and expand our portfolio. This latest acquisition of the sizeable St Katharine Docks freehold estate, one of London’s trophy landmarks, increases CDL’s total commercial assets in the UK to around £1 billion and enhances our recurring income stream.

“It complements our fund management strategy, providing us with the option to inject our UK assets into listed or unlisted platforms at an opportune time. In addition, there are ample asset-management opportunities for us to demonstrate our ability to enhance value and improve operational efficiency.”

The acquisition of St Katharine Docks is funded through CDL’s internal cash resources and credit facilities. CDL’s other commercial properties in the UK include two prime freehold Grade A buildings in Central London – Aldgate House and 125 Old Broad Street – acquired in 2018. Both enjoy stable rent collections and strong committed occupancies of 98.1 per cent and 92.4 per cent respectively.

Jeanneau has released new images of the Cap Camarat 10.5 CC, a Center Console version that complements the 10.5 WA Serie2 edition from the series’ Walk Around editions. The historic Cap Camarat range was founded in 1982 and celebrated its 40th anniversary last year.

The 10.5 CC is the largest model in the Center Console line, which also includes the 5.5 CC, 6.5 CC, 7.5 CC and 9.0 CC, while the Walk Around versions extend from the 5.5 WA to the series-flagship 12.5 WA.

Designed by Patrice Sarrazin of Sarrazin Design, the Cap Camarat 10.5 CC has an overall length of 10.9m (35ft 9in) and a 9.3m (30ft 7in) V-shaped hull by Michael Peters Yacht Design, with the option of two 300hp or 425hp outboard engines plus joystick control.

The aft cockpit has an L-shaped sofa and a table with drinks holders, while to port is a bulwark door that can be fitted with a swimming ladder.

The central helm station has three seats and is covered by a T-top fitted with fishing rod holders aft. In front of the helm, there are two forward-facing seats along with a table and an aft-facing C-shaped bench seat.

Down the stairs is a low-ceilinged, full-beam double cabin aft, a simple galley, a bathroom with separate shower, and a forward lounge area with table that can be converted into a double berth, which means the boat can accommodate up to four guests overnight. The yacht’s CE certifications are B:9, C:11 and D:11.

The Ferretti Group brand has sold the first hull of the new wallywind110 sailing yacht to a long-time Wally owner.

Wally has announced the sale of hull one of the wallywind110, the first model in the brand’s new series of customisable sailing superyachts. Scheduled to launch in 2024, the sailing superyacht has been bought by a long-time Wally owner.

Stefano de Vivo, Managing Director of Wally, said: “We are extremely proud for the confidence this experienced and selective owner is giving us once again. With the sale of this new carbon-fibre sailing superyacht, Wally continues its remarkable contribution to the advancement of sailing design and technology.”

Wally, wallywind110, sailing, boat, sold, bought, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, owner, Judel/Vrolijk & Co, Wally, Santa Maria Magnolfi

Luca Bassani, founder and Chief Designer of Wally, said: “Wally owners are like family to us and it makes me extremely proud knowing they continue to choose us to build their dreams on the water. From the very beginning, we’ve been able to listen to their wishes and transform them into unique characteristics of their yachts, always managing to even exceed their expectations thanks to Wally’s experience and know-how.”

The wallywind110 unites Judel/Vrolijk & Co for naval architecture, with the Wally team and Santa Maria Magnolfi design firm handling the exterior lines and interior. The yacht is a hybrid, offering the volumes and comforts of a deckhouse yacht but with a flush deck that adds to the performance of a racing boat.

Social areas include the raised saloon and ‘terrace on the sea’. The huge 80sqm cockpit is on a single level and fills the full beam of the boat, offering the same size as found on 150ft sailing yachts, according to Wally. The layout is customisable, with seating and dining for up to 15 people.

Below deck, the engine room is tucked away below the saloon, creating a huge open-plan space that combines dining, lounging and even working. A skylight runs the full length of the low-profile coachroof, while coachroof windows and hull windows increase the natural light and views.

Wally, wallywind110, sailing, boat, sold, bought, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, owner, Judel/Vrolijk & Co, Wally, Santa Maria Magnolfi

De Vivo concluded: “Wally’s sailing heritage is legendary, and under Ferretti Group, the brand is redoubling its efforts on the sail side. The wallywind110 is the head-turning exception in a crowded field of sailing yachts and I am sure it will impress the audience when it will be sailing in the Mediterranean in the summer of 2024.”

In Leader, Brand Director Erwin Bamps talks about Prestige’s commitment to the sector, another significant shift for a builder who already shook things up in recent years with its X-Line of flybridge yachts.
