Wally has debuted the wallypower50 at boot Düsseldorf, with the one-cabin 48-footer combining the naval architecture of the wallytender48 with the superstructure style of the wallypower58.

Shown in Dusseldorf with a Power Grey hull, the yacht’s novelties include two island sunpads on the aft deck, with a central walkway offering easy boarding and disembarkation. Drop-down sides expand the social area by 6sqm.

Stefano de Vivo, Wally’s Managing Director, said: We’re thrilled to introduce our latest masterpiece, the wallypower50. It’s a proud moment for us to showcase this stunning model to the world.

“The wallypower50 is an extraordinary blend of design, engineering and construction, seamlessly incorporating elements from Wally models into a sublime design. It’s a true stroke of genius, embodying the best of both boat styles based on customer preferences.”

Launch of the wallypower50

Forward is a covered saloon featuring a dining table with banquettes and further bench seating, with space for more on forward-facing bench seats plus the distinctive helm chairs. The helm features two large MFDs providing access to all operating and systems data as well as a comprehensive navcomms suite.

Symmetrical side decks lead to a clean foredeck covered by an integrated sunpad with adjustable headrests by the angular windscreen, while there’s easy access to the hidden anchoring system. Down below is a large double bed in the bow flanked by Wally’s ‘Magic Portholes’, as well as extensive storage, a stylish bathroom, a sofa and kitchenette galley.

Like the wallytenders, the wallypower50 can include a wraparound fender, while an extensive options list means owners can configure the model to suit its intended use.

“On deck and below deck, the wallypower50 really shows her true colours in terms of being able to meet the demands of any boater and any operating profile,” De Vivo said. “From tender to weekender, she can do it all.”

With a deep-V hull and two Volvo Penta D6-IPS650 engines, the yacht can top 36 knots and cruise at 30 while offering easy joystick handling with optional DPS (dynamic positioning system). The upcoming X outboard version with four 400hp Mercury outboards is expected to reach 48 knots while offering a 240nm range, and even top 50 knots with the option of four 500hp versions.

Luca Bassani, founder and Chief Designer of Wally, said: “At Wally, design has always been at the forefront of what we do, and what we do has always been at the forefront of the yachting industry.

“The wallypower50 is another perfect example of form and function coming together, where stylish lines do not come at the expense of dynamic performance but complement it. And the further you drill down into the details, the more of Wally you find, from our distinctive angular windshield design up top to the option of our Magic Portholes below.”

The Princess Y95 impressed guests during its Asia debut in Singapore, with one more Y Class flagship now in Thailand and another ordered for the region through long-time dealer Boat Lagoon Yachting.

Boat Lagoon Yachting has secured at least three orders for the Princess Y95

When Boat Lagoon Yachting staged the Asia premiere of the Princess Y95 at Singapore’s ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, it was highlighting only the start of the superyacht’s story in Southeast Asia. Another hull was delivered to Phuket in time to be the star of this year’s Thailand International Boat Show.

And there’s more to come, with Boat Lagoon Yachting also confirming a third order for a Y95, which will add to the 400-plus Princess yachts it has sold in Southeast Asia since the dealership was founded in 1994. In fact, some of the region’s growing family of Princess yacht owners were among the first to see the Y95 in local waters at its Asia premiere.

Asia’s first Y95 was showcased in Singapore

“The three Princess Y95s were purchased even before the model debuted in our region, which is why we were really thrilled to introduce it in Singapore,” says Vrit Yongsakul, Boat Lagoon Yachting’s founder and Group Managing Director “We’re very confident in the Southeast Asia market for luxury yachts in the 95ft category, as we’ve seen particularly high movement at the upper end of the market.”

Vrit’s confidence is well founded. The three Y95 orders followed the dealer’s two sales of the X95, the yacht that pioneered a new generation for Princess as the British builder shelved its M Class of superyachts (30M, 35M, 40M) to make way at its South Yard in Plymouth for production of the two new 95 sister models.

The foredeck is accessible from the flybridge and main deck

Both the Y95 and X95 share the same hull and the same lower-deck layout. On both, the interior of the main deck almost reaches the bow and contributes to the models’ extra-long flybridge or ‘superfly’.

While the X95 is notable for its enclosed skylounge fronted by a reverse windscreen, the Y95 has an open flybridge and a raised pilothouse with a traditionally raked windscreen. However, the flowing, forward-raked lines of the hard-top superstructure tip their hat to the aggressive styling of the X95, one of the shipyard’s first collaborations with Pininfarina.

The Italian styling studio continues to be part of the shipyard’s ‘triangle’ of design collaborators along with the Princess Design Studio and Olesinski, the builder’s long-time naval architecture partner based in Cowes. Pininfarina’s work is particularly evident on the Y95’s hull lines, which provide a flowing side profile and frame the largest hull windows ever installed in a Princess yacht.

OUTDOOR FUN

The Y95 starts aft with a conventional-looking swim platform, but it’s home to an enormous, 1,000kg-capacity transformer platform that can be used to deploy a 5m-plus tender and toys, or provide a wide stairway to the water or dock.

The transformer platform can carry up to 1,000kg and deploy a 5m tender

The transom can be either a garage or, as in the case of the Singapore hull, a covered beach club containing an angular sofa and a table facing a wet bar topped by a fitted TV.

External stairways lead to the large aft cockpit, which can also be accessed by a remote-controlled 5m-long, telescopic passarelle. The cockpit is fitted with a wide, forward-facing C-shaped sofa and offers owners the choice of a large teak dining table or a coffee table and loose chairs. Other options include two styles of wet bar in the forward port corner.

The cockpit can have a coffee table or large dining table

Stairs to port lead to the flybridge, which is among the yacht’s most impressive areas. The yacht in Singapore features a central jacuzzi by the stairs and there’s still plenty of space aft for chairs, sunbeds or even a tender if an owner wants to include a crane integrated into the flybridge superstructure.

The area covered by the hard top is dominated by a dining table with room for 10 chairs, although another option for the starboard side is a fixed C-shaped sofa and a foldable table. To port is an elegantly designed wet bar featuring a sink, hob, electric barbecue and drawer refrigerator, while guests can park themselves on a couple of bar stools.

Forward is a raised twin-seat, three-screen helm station to starboard that’s flanked to port by L shaped companion seating, a cosy area neighboured by doorways to two other zones.

Aft of the companion seating is a low door to a side passage that leads to the foredeck, which has integrated sunpads in front of the pilot house and a couple of steps down to a wide, sunken sofa that offers nice views over the bulwarks but otherwise feels part of the crew’s working area.

Forward is a long dining table for 10

Meanwhile, a sliding companionway door by the upper helm leads down to the impressive main pilot house, where a central captain’s chair faces a five-screen console and is flanked by a chart table to starboard and a portside L-shaped sofa fitted with a sliding table. Starboard stairs lead down to the guest lobby on the main deck.

INTERIOR COMFORT

Typically, though, guests will enter the interior from the aft cockpit. Immediately notable for large windows and typically exquisite Princess joinery in oak, with walnut as an option, the large lounge can be laid out with a large L-shaped or C-shaped sofa to port and either a facing sofa or long cabinet to starboard. Entertainment is provided by a retractable 65in 4K UHD LED TV and a Naim audio system.

The saloon has a spacious lounge with large sofas on both sides before a formal dining area forward

Forward is a large, oblong table offering dining for 10. Princess also offers this area with an L-shaped bar by the port door to the galley and a round dining table to starboard, where the hallway leads forward to the lower-deck stairs, day head and the full-beam owner’s suite.

Making the most of a widebody design in the forward third of the yacht, the master starts with an entrance flanked by two hanging cupboards before a long, curved sofa and a coffee table, although the starboard side can otherwise include a couple of loose chairs or built-in furniture.

The starboard hallway leads to the master suite, past stairways to the pilot house and guest cabins

Each side of the bedroom has a massive one-piece window, with the port side offering a nice view from a vanity desk integrated into a long cabinet with drawers.

The bed is placed centrally and faces forward to a TV on a bulkhead flanked by two doors; portside to a walk-in dressing room and starboard to a twin-sink bathroom with a shower and an enclosed toilet. All guest bathroom floors are offered in marble, granite or quartz.

The four guest cabins on the lower deck are led by an impressive full-beam VIP midships, where the bedroom area is much like the master suite except the integrated cabinet is to starboard and the furniture options are to port. Both the twin-sink bathroom and walk-in wardrobe are similar to those in the master but are located aft, offering a buffer between the bed and engine room.

Forward on either side of the lobby are mirror guest cabins, each with a hanging cupboard and en-suite bathroom forward. The bow cabin has an aft-facing bed and, compared to the two identical guest cabins, a larger bathroom and more storage space, plus a vanity table.

Meanwhile, the spacious crew area is just forward of the beach club and includes an en-suite captain’s cabin, bunk cabin and a shared bathroom.

THE JOURNEY CONTINUES

The Y95 is an ideal yacht for long cruises around Southeast Asia and Boat Lagoon Yachting is ideally placed to support journeys between Singapore and Phuket, where the dealer has its head office and international-standard service facilities at Phuket Boat Lagoon.

It’s a trip the yacht can comfortably cover without refuelling, as her twin 2,000mhp Man V12 engines and well over 13,000 litres of fuel give her a range of about 1,000nm at an economical cruising speed, although she can reach 22-24 knots if needed.

“Owners have idyllic sailing waters in Singapore, but with a large-capacity yacht like the Y95, they can easily cruise up to the beautiful Andaman Sea coast off Thailand and other destinations such as Phuket or Phang Nga Bay where the yachting conditions are perfect,” Vrit says.

The first Y95 in Southeast Asia is a big, beautiful and powerful Princess, yet she’s just the start of a story with at least another two chapters.

Director of CL Yachts and a fourth-generation member of the Lo family that founded and own Cheoy Lee, Martin Lo is spearheading new projects like CLB80 and upgrades of existing models for a brand steadily growing in appeal around the world.

Martin Lo, Director, CL Yachts

CL Yachts has revealed the design for CLB80, which continues the brand’s collaboration with Jozeph Forakis. He designed ‘from scratch’ for your flagship CLX96, but the CLB series already had three models (65, 72, 88), so what was your brief to him?

We needed something in-between CLB72 and CLB88, to create a smoother transition for owners who want to upgrade. The brief was that we need to please traditional B series boat owners, but push the envelope a bit more within certain constraints. So, based on the design language of CLB72 and CLB88, I asked him to create something better and a little bit more advanced, but not too advanced.

We then looked at boating habits today, with people wanting to go out with their family and enjoy the outdoors more. Covid changed boating habits because people could cruise out to sea on their own island paradise and enjoy nature, fresh air and a safe space away from other people. A boat should have all the comforts of home but be easily maintained, so it can stay fresh throughout the years.

We were also looking to maximise semi-open space, making areas openable but able to be covered or closed when protection from the elements is needed. Initially, we thought of a traditional motor yacht with a hard top, like CLB72. Then we considered a semi-permanent hard top with a fixed front screen and the ability to enclose the helm.

CGI of CLB80 exterior

We then thought about enclosing the flybridge and including openable windows and skylights, so you create a shelter, a sky deck, which can be your family room or another living room. This increases the living space and allows you to have one control station with better vision plus more space and visibility forward on the main deck.

We also looked at CLB80 being run by an owner operator, like a family cruiser with no crew or maybe minimal crew. This requires better interaction, like having an aft galley as we have on CLB65 along with the day head aft. This way, you can go swimming and enjoy water sports and when you come back up, you don’t need to track through the saloon to use the head. With the galley aft, you can serve drinks and finger food or full meals either indoors forward or outdoors aft.

Also, having the galley aft meant we could push the living areas forward and rework the windows so when you sit on the sofas, you can see out more easily. You also have more space without the lower helm.

CGI of CLB80 beach club

As it’s an 80-footer, four staterooms are a must, so on the lower deck we have a private VIP forward, a full-beam master and two guest cabins, as well as decent crew quarters aft.

CLB80 also offers decent speed with modest power, just 1,600hp for the pair, yet reaches 25 knots and cruises around 20 or 21 knots. There’s simple fin stabilisation, not gyro, so you save space, weight and maintenance, although we still have provisions for installing gyro if owners want it.

What led to the option of the sliding dining table?

It’s quite interesting. It’s convertible. If you want formal dining, you expand it and place chairs around it. Later, if you want more room for socialising and dancing, you can fold the table and push it aft against the galley, where it can become a serving bar or buffet table and you end up using the ‘dining’ space for entertainment.

Owners can use their imagination on how they want to use the space. If it’s too hot or raining and you want to do your yoga, there you have it.

Where did the idea come from?

Jozeph asked if it was possible. We encouraged him to think outside the box. One of the reasons we use Jozeph is because he’s an industrial designer. Before working with us, he had no experience of designing boats, so he’s able to think outside the box, different to yacht designers, so let’s have some fun!

Are the CLB80 designs you’ve revealed just options?

We’ve created multiple designs for both the main deck and flybridge. On the main deck, we have another layout with a galley forward, for more traditional boaters. This has a salon aft, then dining and a forward galley that can be open or closed, depending on what kind of crew the owners plan to have.

We also offer a semi-open flybridge, with control stations on the main and upper decks. For the semi open flybridge, we use composite furniture, and for the enclosed version, we use wood-veneer furniture. You still have the wet bar and the high-low windows.

You showed hull two of CLB65 at the recent Hong Kong International Boat Show before it heads to Australia, while hull one was sold in the US. What has been the feedback from the owners?

They’re very happy and like it a lot. It has been well used. Overall, we’ve only had minor suggestions, like having a door instead of a hatch, more storage, a bit more interior space and so on.

Sydney Marine, one of our two Australian dealers, gave feedback on boating habits there and said CLB65 is perfect for their market, which is why they’ve ordered hull two. Hull three is in the US and hull four will have a different salon layout.

CLB65

However, we’re busy trying to find space and time for production. The shipyard is busy building catamaran ferries for Hong Kong including five 40m cats in carbon, two 40m hybrid – one in carbon and one in aluminum – and two 35m in carbon. Hull one of the 40m carbon cat had sea trials in December.

We also have contracts for tugs and a wind-farm support vessel for Japan, while we’re also working on a lot of other projects.

How does Cheoy Lee’s experience in building commercial boats help the build quality of CL Yachts models?

I want people to enjoy boats. CL Yachts’ ‘Uncharted Luxury’ slogan is more than skin deep; it’s inside. I want an owner who pays a large amount of money for a boat to just get onboard, turn the key and go, knowing all the systems are solid and can be easily maintained.

Fairline, Targa 40, Boot Dusseldorf, Targa, 45 Open, 45 GT, 50 Open, 50 GT, 65 GT, Phantom 65, Squadron 58, Oundle

CLB65

Our family is actively involved in the whole building process, and we put our minds and energy into all our products. Because we do commercial boats and pleasure yachts, building to class is normal for us. Even for motor yachts, CE hull construction is a minimum requirement. The whole shipyard is ISO certified, and we have an established quality-assurance programme.

We only use materials from leading vendors, like foam core from Diab, Divinycell and Corecell™ by Gurit. Only three carbon-fibre manufacturers can meet classification requirements and they’re from Germany, US and Japan. We use the Japanese company and I’ve known the weaver of those carbon-fibres for 30 years.

CLB72

CLB72 is CL Yachts’ best-selling model and was one of the first launched after you founded CL Yachts. How many units has it sold and what’s next?

I think we’re on hull nine. CLB72 is ready for a redesign. The lower-deck layout is solid, so we’re looking to maybe push the salon forward, offer an aft-galley layout, work on how to give the flybridge more European styling and other changes.

CLX96 was developed during Covid before her debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October 2022, when Jozeph Forakis saw the completed boat for the first time. What was his reaction?

Jozeph and I have been friends for many years, so I know him very well. He was very excited about the boat being built. During the production process, he visited China to monitor different stages of construction, but when he finally got to see CLX96 at FLIBS, he said: ‘Whoa’. He was so happy; he couldn’t believe his eyes.

Usually, the vision of the designers isn’t fully realised like it was with CLX96. I have a design background, so I understand designers’ frustration, although I also understand the viewpoint of the production side.

Fairline, Targa 40, Boot Dusseldorf, Targa, 45 Open, 45 GT, 50 Open, 50 GT, 65 GT, Phantom 65, Squadron 58, Oundle

CLX96

Sometimes, for practical reasons, certain things can’t be done and I might ask Jozeph if he can change something. Other times, I can see his innovative idea and it’s my job to convince the production team to give it a shot. I’m like the go-between to make everything happen and, in a way, to showcase a new look. CLX96 is as close to the design as it could be.

What’s next for CLX96?

We’ve already developed another layout, with five cabins including an on-deck master. We took feedback from hull one and are making it better. People like the workmanship and the basic layout, but people were asking for one more stateroom, room for more crew, perhaps a Jacuzzi. Maybe we focused too much on the exterior activity zones, so we’re looking at increasing the internal space a little bit.

On the new version, we have an on-deck jacuzzi and we’ve moved the pilothouse forward by about 2m, so the skylounge is larger. And with the convertible table, you can have a formal dinner on the flybridge rather than the main deck. We’ve reworked a lot of things and have been trying different layouts on paper.

Every boat we build is better than the last one. We will always improve on a model. We value the feedback from end users, dealers and the public, plus we study other yachts on the market to see how we can make ours better.

CLB88

What are your thoughts on markets where you’ve appointed new dealers such as Southeast Asia, Australia and Middle East?

As mentioned, I did a trip to Australia to visit our new dealer Sydney Marine. People typically think of the Opera House and the harbour there, but then we went to the North Shore where people are very keen on boating. The dealer kindly took us everywhere and explained the local boating lifestyle in detail, saying CLB65 was perfect for their market. For Western Australia, we have Silverstar Marine in Perth.

I also visited Premium Nautical in Singapore and I’ve invited them and our other dealers to come and see our shipyard in Guangdong to get a better sense of the brand and our products. Next, I plan to visit Dubai to see Royal Yachting, our Middle East dealer. We’re building up our network step by step.

Do you see the Middle East as a growing market?

I think so. If you look at Gulf Craft, they’re doing phenomenally well there. Azimut is doing well there. I think our products can compete with them. We’ve studied the market and we think this is a good time to revisit this region.

Fairline staged the world premiere of its all-new Targa 40 at Boot Dusseldorf. Featuring a drop-down bulwark on the starboard side, the Targa 40 is the new entry model for the British builder’s line of cruisers, which also includes the 45 Open, 45 GT, 50 Open, 50 GT and 65 GT.

The Targa 40 was on display in Dusseldorf with the Targa 45 Open, Targa 45 GT, Phantom 65 sportbridge and Squadron 58 flybridge, which debuted at the Southampton International Boat Show last September and features drop-down bulwarks on either side of the aft cockpit.

The Oundle builder hopes the new 39-footer will follow the success of the Targa 38, one of the brand’s most popular models following its launch in 2006, with more than 300 built over the following decade.

The Targa 40 can fit twin Volvo Penta D6-340s or D6-380s, which Fairline expects to deliver top end speeds of 32 knots and 36 knots respectively. The exterior includes a modern bluff-bow hull and an open cockpit with a hardtop and electric canvas sunroof that can retract to fully expose the main deck to the elements.

Aft, the integrated garage has room for a 2.7m tender with electric outboard. The two aft-facing double sunbeds with floating backrests can convert into sofas, while the eye-catching new feature is a power-down beach club balcony to starboard. The port sunbed is part of a C-shaped seating and dining area opposite a wet bar.

The forward area benefits from extensive glazing, which provides natural light and expansive views. To port is companion seating that can double as a daybed, while to starboard are twin helm seats. The foredeck is accessed by two side decks and is dominated by expansive sunbeds, while the addition of a forward-facing sofa at the bow enables guests to enjoy the views while cruising.

Below deck includes an impressive C-shaped lounge sofa opposite a galley, TV and the shared bathroom, which also has direct access from the owner’s suite in the bow and features 6ft 6in of headroom. The midships guest cabin has twin beds that slide together to form a double.

The shipyard debuted the Dufour 41 at last September’s Cannes Yachting Festival and followed up with the Dufour 44, which is available in an electric version (as are the Dufour 470 and Dufour 530).

Like the Dufour 41, the Dufour 44 features an exterior by Umberto Felci of Felci Yacht Design and an interior by Luca Ardizio of Ardizio Design, with an extra emphasis on beam and interior volume. The yacht has an overall length of 45ft based on a 43ft-long hull with a beam of over 14ft 7in.

Umberto Felci said: The objective was to create a spacious outdoor living area, resulting in a proportionally larger cockpit compared to her predecessor of the same size. Our focus was on integrating elements from the Dufour 470 and Dufour 530, emphasising fluid communication in the cockpit, facilitating easy passage to the deck and optimising the overall length of the boat. We’ve also taken successful elements from the Dufour 41 while introducing new features.”

On deck, the area between the helm stations and the two winches has been enlarged to make sail manoeuvring easier. At anchor, guests can enjoy bench sofas either side of the central folding table and can move around freely around the plancha grill aft due to the new double access to the fold-down swim platform, which has also been expanded.

Down below, the saloon features a new hexagonal table that can seat up to 10 guests with the use of movable stools, while the galley can either occupy the starboard side or be set up forward, allowing for the addition of a starboard sofa.

The yacht has two double cabins aft, with the day head starboard of the stairs and the shower room to port. Forward is the option of either two en-suite cabins or an owner’s suite, which has an island bed, en-suite bathroom, separate shower room, hanging and overhead lockers, skylights and hull windows.

Romain Lucat, Director of the Dufour design office, said: “The Dufour 44 represents an exciting challenge where the search for volume and cohesion in the range combines with the innovative integration of solar panels, highlighting our commitment to sustainability. Our collaboration with architect Umberto Felci and interior designer Luca Ardizio ensures a balance between functionality, aesthetics and performance.

“Optimising the interior space, taking into account new technologies and customising with four distinct versions make the Dufour 44 an exceptional creation, offering optimal outdoor living and remarkable sailing performance.”

Dufour’s dealers in Asia include VP Yachts (Hong Kong), Yacht Sourcing (Indonesia), Omnia Marine (China), Taiwan Service Company (Taiwan), Active Marine (Japan) and Ige Yachts (Korea).

Ferretti Group staged the world premiere of the Riva El-Iseo at Boot Dusseldorf, where the Italian boat-building giant also debuted Wally’s new wallypower50 and announced other upcoming models.

Riva displayed a prototype of the of the El-Iseo at previous boat shows including the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival, but the stunning blue version on show at Messe Dusseldorf was an example of the official, production version of the first full-electric model in Ferretti Group’s new E-Luxury segment.

Based on the design of the Iseo, Riva’s smallest model, the 27ft El-Iseo has a full-electric Parker GVM310 motor from Parker Hannifin, “offering unprecedented performance in terms of speed and acceleration”, according to the Group.

Certified by RINA, the El-Iseo also contains a high-energy-density lithium battery pack by Podium Advanced Technologies, which offers an efficient, lightweight solution with a capacity of 150 kWh and a voltage of 800V. Otherwise, the yacht retains Riva’s classic use of polished mahogany and stainless-steel detailing as seen on the Iseo.

Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group’s CEO, said: “Ferretti Group’s 2024 kicks off under the banner of innovation and sustainability, the two main coordinates for the future of yachting. El-Iseo, Riva’s first full-electric powerboat, is proof that the world’s most highly renowned shipyard is also the one that rises to and wins the challenges of today.”

The Group’s upcoming models include two Wally sailing yachts, the wallywind110 cruiser-racer and the wallyrocket51, while the wallywhy100 presented at a private preview in Venice last December will be presented at boat shows later this year. The Ferretti Yachts Infynito 80 and Pershing GTX80 are both expected to premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival (September 10-15).

Ferretti Group also revealed financial figures including revenues of €856.4 million and adjusted EBITDA of €124.8 million for the first nine months of last year, up 9.8 per cent and 17.7 per cent respectively on the corresponding period in 2022.

The company launched new offices at its Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona in December and continues to develop its new 70,000sqm production hub in Ravenna. Ferretti Group is a public company, with over 50 per cent of its share capital traded on the market, having listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2022 and Euronext Milan in 2023.

Damen Yachting has delivered the 197ft Satemi, the fourth hull in the Amels 60 series. The 60m, 830GT yacht will remain quayside at the Damen Yachting shipyard in the Netherlands for a few weeks before departing on her maiden voyage to the Caribbean.

“It has been great to see how all parties involved have pulled together and have put in so much effort during this busy project,” said Danker Rijk, Damen Yachting’s Project Manager, who has managed Satemi throughout her build. “The result of their work speaks for itself; the yacht looks stunning. We hope that the owners will enjoy stepping on board for the first time this year.”

The Amels 60 has an exterior design by Espen Øino, but inspired by the customisations made to the second hull, Satemi features elongated window styling. Features include a sun deck, large swim platform and a foredeck with space for a 9m tender.

The custom interiors have been created by Studio Indigo, which was responsible for the original Amels 60 concept interior design. As well as 13 crew, the yacht can accommodate 12 guests in six cabins including an owner’s suite with folding balcony, his and her bathrooms, plus a dressing room.

Tassos Papantoniou of Torrance Yachts, which represents the owners, said: “The owners have been involved with the build for the past 24 months and have been able to set the interior exactly as they want it. They’ve spared no expense ensuring that their yacht is specified to the very highest standards – everything from the tenders to the dinnerware, it all results in a spectacular outcome.”

Satemi’s advanced equipment and technology includes an IMO Tier III-compliant hybrid power and propulsion system. Captain Mattia Dzaja said: “I’ve reviewed the system specification, and I am impressed. The benefits of this system and the reduced environmental impact are obvious, but what I love most is the additional safety it will provide us when we’re cruising.

“Everyone that is part of the Amels ‘family’ is super passionate. They believe in what they’re doing and are led by Rose Damen, whose enthusiasm for the brand is evident and is an inspiration to the entire industry.”

Dubai and Auckland comes out tops in the markets that stand resilient for homebuyers to invest.

With holiday-goers returning from their trips and school now back in full swing, the winding down of New Year celebrations brings the rest of the year into perspective. Plans for buying a home and investing in property in 2024 might be on your mind should you decide to maximise your potential investment plans. LUXUO highlights the prime areas and risks involved when investing in property for the year to come.

A recent Knight Frank 2024 report has revealed “cautious optimism” based on a global forecast. The findings also revealed that frontrunner Dubai is the location to invest for 2024.

While two major geopolitical crises occur, observers have noted varying approaches within the banking industry. As prices for gas and oil remain high, this has led to leaders in Canada and the UK signalling their intent to address inflationary risks. However, their political brethren in Europe and the US come at a more relaxed stance.

Knight Frank

Kate Everett-Allen, Head of International Residential Research, Knight Frank, opines, “Amid this backdrop, the ‘higher for longer’ trend persists, leading to a notable shift in buyer behaviour. Our global research network reports that 52 percent of prime buyers now opt for cash purchases, an increase from 46 percent six months ago.”

The Economist’s report is more alarming: “Governments are grappling with mounting challenges, as public debt in the affluent world reaches historic levels relative to GDP, surpassing post-Napoleonic War figures.”

Knight Frank

This inevitable consequence points to rising taxes, where policymakers will most likely focus on wealth and property. While these are the looming headwinds, Everett-Allen cites, “Overall prime price forecast for 2024 has grown from 2.1 percent to 2.5 percent since our mid-2023 global research team assessment. However, the outlook for 2023 has seen the most significant improvement. Our researchers projected a 1.7 percent average price increase at the year’s midpoint. However, this figure has surged to 2.4 percent with just a month remaining.

Knight Frank

So, the silver lining on the cloud? Some prime buyers think that the worst is behind us. On the demand factor, interest rate hikes are witnessing a swan song while inflation puts on its brakes; therefore, buyers have regained their appetite in certain markets. In the supply factor, it is observed that there’s a reluctance among mortgaged households to move, buoyed by persistent labour shortages, high construction costs and planning delays; all these collectively contribute to a shortage of new stock entering the market.

Some Key Findings

DubaiDubai is one of the top destinations for homebuyers. Image: Red Magazine.

Dubai is in the lead as Knight Frank’s price forecast for 2023 points to 14 percent growth envisaged, while Auckland (+10 percent) is the frontrunner for 2024. Cash buyers, as a proportion of all prime sales, have risen from 46 percent to 52 percent in the last six months, according to Knight Frank’s research network. Upcoming elections in some key cities have become the most considerable potential risk to prime markets in 2024, with the relaxation of tax and property regulations considered the most significant opportunity.

Looking Back

A lot has changed in some key property markets, notably Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand. The Little Red Dot ramped up stamp duty for non-residents, taking total purchase costs to around 60 percent; Hong Kong took the opposite approach; New Zealand’s change of government offered relaxed rules for foreign buyers. Over in the United States, Los Angeles has put in place a mansion tax while New York’s authorities opted for a de facto ban on short-term lets. Prime residential prices have stood their ground with these changes in economic uncertainty and the uneasiness of geopolitical risks. Based on Knight Frank’s 2023 rankings, Dubai takes pole position where it has anticipated annual growth of 14 percent over the entire 12 months. The other countries that follow: Madrid (6.5 percent), Stockholm (five percent), Seoul (4.5 percent), and Miami (four percent), round out the top five; each city is either rebounding from recent price declines or experiencing robust wealth migration.

Knight Frank

Therefore, investors are always looking to explore new locations and diverse property sectors based on the landscape of slower price growth, courtesy of the elevated cost of debt. While persistent inflation might throw a spanner in the works, the advent of new property cycles whets the appetites of eagle-eyed opportunistic homebuyers.

Crystal Ball

Peering into the crystal ball, Knight Frank tracked 25 cities where Auckland takes the lead for 2024, where it is anticipating a 10 percent increase in luxury prices. Dubai will snag the third position in 2024 with a projected prime price growth of five percent. Dubai witnessed a stellar post-pandemic performance-based, in fact, on the slowdown in the rate of price growth. China faced a scarcity of new prime supply and renewed demand, while India will see it remain in the positive realm; all have helped Dubai’s growth. The Emirate is pulling out all the stops to woo local and international buyers by focusing on its affluent enclaves, inland villas offering lush greenery, and more.

Christine Li, Head of Research, APAC, Knight Frank, chimes in, “Singapore is one key market to look out for as it seems to be insulated from the economic headwinds, particularly the Bukit Timah zone. The nation’s stable, business-friendly environment has made it resilient. Bukit Timah remains a prime choice for luxury living for expatriates and locals.

Madrid and Stockholm have become Europe’s best performers, all thanks to offering homebuyers good value, low purchase costs, high-quality life and no regulations or restrictions on overseas buyers.

Triptych Bankside residence in London. Image: Triptych Bankside.

Everett-Allen also sheds light on Paris, “The city of lights has a diverse mix of buyers, the euro remains relatively weak, providing some with a discount; the 2024 Paris Olympics will attract global interest; it is home to the most prominent urban transport regeneration plan in Europe (Grand Paris Express), and if approved, a Bill currently going through the French National Assembly could provide Brits with an automatic right to a long-stay visa.

Prime central London did not move its needle as it is poised for a milder correction than the broader UK market. This resilience is attributed to a higher prevalence of cash sales, particularly within Zone 1, coupled with prices currently sitting 15 percent below their previous peak.

Esteban Ocon, a Meros Yachtsharing member and brand ambassador, will join the presentation of the third superyacht in the exclusive co-ownership programme.

Founded by a German entrepreneur, featuring British yachts and fronted by a French brand ambassador, Meros Yachtsharing is staging the premiere of its new Sunseeker Meros Signature 95 superyacht at the 55th edition of Boot Dusseldorf.

Alpine driver Esteban Ocon – a Meros member and brand ambassador – will present the latest addition to the company’s co-ownership programme, with the new yacht’s official debut held on the second day of the world’s biggest indoor boat show.

The highly customised 28m yacht is the third member of the Meros fleet, along with another Sunseeker 95 Yacht presented in Boot last year and a Sunseeker 86 Yacht. All are managed by seasoned crews that include a captain, deckhand, stewardess and a personal chef, each crew.

Founded in 2019 by an experienced yacht owner inspired by the growth of the sharing economy, Meros Yachtsharing is the exclusive contractual partner and sole provider of a co-ownership model for Sunseeker superyachts in Europe.

The company’s aim is to offer the market an alternative to sole yacht ownership by providing financially attractive terms and guaranteeing a premium experience. Operated from branches in Germany, Spain, Malta and soon the UK, the co-owner programme provides access to the Meros fleet with access to over 10 yachting hotspots in Europe.

Georg Oehme, Managing Director of Meros Yachtsharing, said: “Our sustainable co-ownership model presents a unique opportunity to enter a growing market. In our yacht-sharing models, the costs are shared in parallel to your usage. It’s a modern, sustainable approach for the sector where we focus on the client’s entire experience.”

Meros is collaborating with Sunseeker London Group, the British builder’s European sales organisation, and industry experts to take care of yacht and crew operations, route planning and administration, so offering far more than asset management.

Meros offers both Flexshare and Quarter co-ownership models. Flexshare involves use of any of the Flexshare fleet by several co-owners and is the home of the Meros concierge, which offers members and co-owners exclusive invites and access to some of the world’s most desirable events such as the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

As shown in 2023, one of Meros’ yachts is berthed trackside in Monaco and all owners are invited to enjoy a weekend hosted by the platform. In addition to this, Meros members and co-owners receive exclusive benefits from like-minded partners including NetJets and Thirdhome.

Meros also offers a classic co-ownership structure through the Quarter share model, with a 25 per cent stake of one boat, currently available only on the Sunseeker 86 Yacht. In this ownership, co-owners have direct ownership of a privately registered vessel, with Meros supporting and managing the vessel, all communication and crew.

After the success of Meros Flexshare in the Western Mediterranean last year, the programme is expanding into the Eastern Mediterranean and the UAE, allowing clients the opportunity to enjoy yachts in diverse regions and expanding their cruising season. Benefits of the arrangement include eliminating transfer costs and a quicker, easier way of exploring a variety of countries and cultures.

Meros Yachtsharing is also committed to environmental consciousness with an increasing capacity to use HVO-100 fuel across all new yachts. The initiative is supported by Repsol for distribution and MTU (Rolls-Royce) for research and development.

Azimut has launched its Charter Club, the Italian builder’s tailor-made charter service for its recent yachts, with a team dedicated to supporting owners and charter guests.

All charter yachts have been produced within the last five years and belong to Azimut boat owners, with the selection ranging up to 24m waterline length. Yachts in Mediterranean destinations are already available on the portal, with more models and destinations to be added.

The Azimut Charter Club is part of the development strategy for Azimut’s service hub, which welcomes enthusiasts and newcomers to enjoy “experiences in Azimut style, in close contact with the sea and on models which redefined and elevated the concept of onboard lifestyle”.

Azimut says the Charter Club’s philosophy is to offer a personalised service with attention to the smallest details, backed by the brand’s expertise and territorial coverage ensured by its extensive network of dealers and partners. “The service represents a new standard in the chartering sector and stands out for the selected fleet and the assistance offered to the customer,” the company stated.

Through a dedicated portal, users can book stays independently or take advantage of the Azimut concierge, a complementary service that can guide a user from the reservation to the legal and administrative aspects. Once details are decided, the selected Azimut dealer will take care of check-in and check-out activities, attending to all requests at sea and at anchor.

Azimut’s dealers in Asia include Marine Italia, which represents the shipyard in Hong Kong, Macau, China’s southerly Guangdong province, Taiwan and Singapore.
