Dubai prepares for landmark boat show – Trixie LohMirmand

As Dubai World Trade Centre’s Executive Vice President since 2005, LohMirmand is the long-time organiser of the Dubai International Boat Show and believes this year’s edition from February 28-March 3 will reflect the emirate’s growing status.

What are your expectations for this year compared to last year, when there were about 200 boats, 1,000 brands and companies, and 28,000 visitors?

The landmark 30th edition of the Dubai International Boat Show continues to receive full support from the industry and looks forward to welcoming new countries and brands, such as Cigarette Racing. Many repeat exhibitors including the likes of Sanlorenzo, Sunreef and Sunseeker are returning to the show with a bigger fleet.

How will the layout change compared to last year?

Once again, the show will take place in the extraordinary seafront district of Dubai Harbour, which has a strategic location in the heart of Dubai that offers direct access by water to popular destinations in the city including Bluewaters, Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah.

One of the largest and most sophisticated marinas in the MENA region, this evolving leisure marine destination has been our home for three consecutive years. This year’s show is located adjacent to the Cruise Terminal and Dubai’s newest beach resort, Be Beach.

The new layout offers all the highly anticipated showcase and hospitality experiences for our guests, like in previous years. With every edition there, we update the show’s presentation and offerings in coordination with the dynamics of the venue to deliver the best experience possible.

Last year, the 68m Soaring by Abeking & Rasmussen berthed on the other side of the road from the show’s main in-water display. Are you expecting such large yachts this year and if so, will they be in a separate area again?

We’re expecting an attractive line-up of superyachts. While some will be berthed in the main staging area, there will be select yachts berthed away from this, depending on capacity and any client requests for private access for their hosted guests. We shall also be facilitating sea trials for participating boats, while the show will also continue to present a sensational lineup of luxury cars.

Will there be any new initiatives such as for electric/hybrid boats or other growing sectors?

After last year’s launch of our sustainability initiative, SEA Mission, we will continue to build on the growing appetite for sustainability among our exhibitors and visitors this year and will host an extended programme of green initiatives.

At the end of last year, Dubai proudly hosted the UN Climate Change Conference, COP28, and we’re more keenly aware than ever of our responsibilities towards the planet at a critical time for transformative action.

How has the financial profile of UAE citizens and residents evolved in recent years?

Dubai has emerged as one of the world’s three most attractive cities for the wealthy. Its growing appeal for high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) supports the goal of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to increase foreign direct investment inflows over the next decade to an annual average of AED60 billion (about US$16 billion).

The number of HNWIs in Dubai has risen significantly; the population of wealthy individuals in Dubai alone increased from 54,000 in June 2021 to 67,900 in June 2022. Nearly 10,000 millionaires are projected to move to the UAE between 2022 and 2024, and this is set to increase by over 50 per cent in the next 10 years.

Dubai, Dubai International Boat Show, UAE, Trixie LohMirmand, Dubai World Trade Centre, Cigarette Racing, Sanlorenzo, Sunreef, Sunseeker, Dubai Harbour, Bluewaters, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, MENA, Cruise Terminal, Be Beach, Abeking & Rasmussen, SEA Mission, SuperYacht Times, Global Order Book, Boat International, HNWI, UHNWI, Knight Frank, YouGov, Middle East, UN Climate Change Conference, COP28

Dubai continues to attract high-net-worth families, with the value of family offices in the market set to reach AED3.67 trillion by 2028, bolstered by a predicted 39 per cent increase of HNWIs in Dubai by 2026, according to Knight Frank.

Dubai’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, unmatched lifestyle offerings, high-quality education, healthcare and cosmopolitan culture provide HNWIs with an exceptional quality of life and an attractive calendar of experiential events in Dubai, such as the recent COP28 and annual Dubai International Boat Show, which continues to generate worldwide appeal.

Dubai provides several initiatives to be the go-to destination for HNWIs such as the golden visa initiative, a 10-year long-term residency scheme, and economic incentive initiatives offering an attractive ecosystem for startups and entrepreneurs to build their business roots in Dubai.

Dubai, Dubai International Boat Show, UAE, Trixie LohMirmand, Dubai World Trade Centre, Cigarette Racing, Sanlorenzo, Sunreef, Sunseeker, Dubai Harbour, Bluewaters, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, MENA, Cruise Terminal, Be Beach, Abeking & Rasmussen, SEA Mission, SuperYacht Times, Global Order Book, Boat International, HNWI, UHNWI, Knight Frank, YouGov, Middle East, UN Climate Change Conference, COP28

In addition to these, Dubai’s key attractions for HNWIs include it being tax-free, global, luxurious and forward-looking, according to a survey by Knight Frank with YouGov.

Is yacht ownership increasing in the UAE and the Middle East?

The Middle East is one of the world’s leading superyacht markets, with many of the region’s ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) either owning or intending to buy a superyacht.

The 2023 Gulf Superyacht Market Report by SuperYacht Times states there were more than 297 superyachts owned in the GCC up to October 2023, representing 5.2 per cent of the world fleet. With 136 of these yachts owned in the UAE alone, the statistics are further evidence of Dubai’s ongoing appeal for superyacht owners.

Dubai, Dubai International Boat Show, UAE, Trixie LohMirmand, Dubai World Trade Centre, Cigarette Racing, Sanlorenzo, Sunreef, Sunseeker, Dubai Harbour, Bluewaters, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, MENA, Cruise Terminal, Be Beach, Abeking & Rasmussen, SEA Mission, SuperYacht Times, Global Order Book, Boat International, HNWI, UHNWI, Knight Frank, YouGov, Middle East, UN Climate Change Conference, COP28

Globally, demand has risen, with superyacht projects increasing from 821 in 2021 to 1,024 in 2022 and 1,203 last year, according to the Global Order Book by Boat International.

By 2026, the value of the global yacht market is predicted to grow to more than US$15 billion, up from US$10.8 billion in 2021, and the Dubai International Boat Show will expand accordingly, continuing to provide visitors and exhibitors with a voyage to remember.

Aquila 47 Molokai: Power up for fast fun

SHARE

The second model in Aquila’s new Offshore series, the 47 Molokai propels the powercat brand into the world of big-game fishing yet can also be a high-speed day boat for family and friends.
Words: Dominic Salander; Photos: Aquila

Aquila, 47 Molokai, 28 Molokai, Chris Peart, Peart Yacht Design, Florida, Mercury Racing

The 28 Molokai was design by South African studio Peart Yacht Design

With the 28 Molokai, Aquila showed its determination to tackle the world of fishing by producing a high-performance open catamaran. With the 47 Molokai, the world’s leading powercat manufacturer has taken its Offshore series to new lengths, with the yacht’s generous dimensions making it a remarkable entry into the world of big-game fishing.

Featuring an overall length of more than 49ft and a beam of 14ft 7in, the Molokai has a sleek, appealing profile. Unlike the 28, the 47 was designed by naval architect Chris Peart of Peart Yacht Design (PYD), the South Africa-based studio founded in 2020. While there are similarities with its little sistership, starting with the long hull porthole, the 47 is different in many ways.

For example, the bows are less vertical than on the 28, and the overall line is more tapered and sportier. An interesting detail is that the long hull portholes open onto the side decks, while other portholes have been added on the sides of the cabin.

OFFSHORE-INSPIRED HULLS

Another interesting feature of the 47 Molokai is the wide hulls for its class. Not only does this improve buoyancy and seaworthiness but it also provides substantial interior volume. As a result, the tunnel is quite narrow, but relatively high, as the front of the nacelle is rather thin.

Aquila, 47 Molokai, 28 Molokai, Chris Peart, Peart Yacht Design, Florida, Mercury Racing

The 47 Molokai has a sporty look and two or four outboard engines

The hulls are supported by a large, inverted strake and a second strake that becomes a lively chine. The architect has also integrated two steps in the style of offshore hulls, a real plus for performance but also for fuel consumption.

The boat we tested in Florida boasted four 450hp Mercury Racing engines, which set the tone for its anticipated performance. However, the production version is offered with either four 400hp V10s or twin 600hp V12s, and even more unusual configurations on request. Lovers of big engines will be delighted.

Once at the helm, the power delivered puts a large smile on your face. Barely out of the harbour, it starts planing in just over five seconds, tops 20 knots in eight seconds, while cruising speed is reached at about 35 knots.

Aquila, 47 Molokai, 28 Molokai, Chris Peart, Peart Yacht Design, Florida, Mercury Racing

The boat is dotted with dozens of rod holders

At this point, the catamaran is moving so well that you have almost no idea what speed it’s going. Nothing moves, waves are swallowed with disconcerting ease, and the air cushion under the hull contributes to smooth sailing. Add to this the excellent protection provided by the windshield and side windows, and you’re eager to put in the miles.

Encouraged by the good seakeeping, we push the throttle and the GPS goes wild: 40, 45, 50 knots and counting. In no time at all, we’re up to 60 knots and still in total comfort. The craziest thing is that the test hull is not even fitted with the ideal propellers, so we’re missing a few rpm.

As for the curves, they’re swallowed up at high speed and with very little angle. If you want to play around a bit, you can desynchronise the trims between the port and starboard hulls to be more aggressive when cornering, but it’s not necessary.

DESIGNED FOR DEEP-SEA FISHING

As well as enabling you to head offshore quickly, the 47 Molokai features a roomy, highly versatile deck layout. Its primary appeal as a fishing boat is reflected in the large cockpit, which can accommodate a full set of rod holders and even a fighting seat.

Aquila, 47 Molokai, 28 Molokai, Chris Peart, Peart Yacht Design, Florida, Mercury Racing

Each side has a bulwark door, for accessing the boat or sea or hauling your catch

There are also two good-sized livewells aft, thigh cushions and two lateral doors, very practical for reeling in your catch or just accessing the boat.

Another original feature is the transom, with a central door that leads to a long swim platform between the engines. This platform conceals a well-made swim ladder with handrails to help climb back on board.

Retractable bench seats can disappear into the transom and the floor conceals several lockers including two for technical access and two that can be used for storage or transformed into a livewell, as on our test model.

Aquila, 47 Molokai, 28 Molokai, Chris Peart, Peart Yacht Design, Florida, Mercury Racing

The foredeck has three sunpads and an aft-facing sofa

A forward bench seat allows a view of the fishing action or water sports. It also features two coolers under the seats and a large lure box behind the backrest. If required, this bench seat can be replaced by an external galley with a grill, two sinks and a refrigerator.

All in all, the cockpit boasts well over 20 rod holders and even, as an option, sockets for electric reels. On the rear of the hard top, a screen has been installed to act as a repeater for the fish finder or GPS. The model can even accommodate a tuna tower, which can be accessed via steps on the rear of the hard top.

CARBON CONSTRUCTION

Mostly made in infusion, the powercat features carbon bulkheads on the front and rear to save weight and increase rigidity. The hard top is also made of carbon, which makes it very solid and rigid. Build quality and finish are of the highest order, as the GRP is well made, the woodwork well protected and the assemblies reliable.

Aquila, 47 Molokai, 28 Molokai, Chris Peart, Peart Yacht Design, Florida, Mercury Racing

The 47 Molokai is big enough to host families and friends; the hard top covers seven forward-facing chairs for navigation

Continuing forward through the wide, deep side decks, you discover two large fish boxes on each side. The passageways lead to the foredeck, where there are three sunpads on the cabin roof and a well-sheltered sun lounger in the bow, but no table. To make the most of the volume, storage space is provided under these seats, as well as under the solarium.

The nose of the boat features three lockers including two for the electric windlass and chain. The other includes a pressurised rinsing system and can be used as a storage locker reaching down to the bottom of the hull. It’s a good space, but don’t drop anything small in there as it may not be that easy to fish out!

COMFORT ABOVE AND BELOW

Sheltered by the hard top and windshield, the central covered zone features rows of three and four individual seats, with the rear line of four set a little higher to allow for better views. All seats are equipped with footrests and have a leaning-post position.

Aquila, 47 Molokai, 28 Molokai, Chris Peart, Peart Yacht Design, Florida, Mercury Racing

The central backrest in the main sofa can transform into a table, while two folding bench seats can be fitted aft

The helm fits the image of the best fishing boats on the market, with a glovebox, switches, cupholders and a gloss-black front panel.

Depending on the options chosen, there are two or three large screens, all well integrated for a sleek, modern look. Despite my modest size, visibility at the helm was decent, but you can also use the floor riser, which makes things even easier, especially when manoeuvring.

It’s not easy to design an open fishing boat based on two hulls, maintaining a low profile and include a real cabin, but that’s exactly what Aquila did. The trick was to place the aft-facing double bed on the tunnel and use the hollows of the hulls for circulation on either side.

Aquila, 47 Molokai, 28 Molokai, Chris Peart, Peart Yacht Design, Florida, Mercury Racing

The cabin can be accessed via a sliding door by the helm or from the port side

On the downside, to get from one side of the bed to the other, you must climb over the bed or use the two openings, one starboard of the helm and the other on the port side deck. The cabin has storage to starboard, while the port side has a bathroom just big enough to use the head and take a shower without too much contortion. There’s a TV at the end of the bed.

When it comes to energy management, Aquila has opted for a bank of lithium batteries with a total of 900 amp-hours. Avoiding the need for a generator, this solution offers enough power for a long day’s cruise.

Overall, the standard equipment is generous, and the catalogue of options is long enough to provide something for everyone, with the galley option allowing a couple to spend a few nights on board.

Aquila, 47 Molokai, 28 Molokai, Chris Peart, Peart Yacht Design, Florida, Mercury Racing

The cabin includes an aft-facing double bed, skylights, a TV and a full head to port

Combining the best of monohulls and multihulls, the powerful, seaworthy 47 Molokai is a real challenger in the club of 45ft-plus offshore fishing powercats, yet is versatile and comfortable enough to appeal to fun-loving groups focused on fast coastal cruising to enticing destinations.

Burgess’ Asia team had a “very strong year” in 2023, despite a quietening market for superyachts in the region. Since setting up its Asia operation in 2015, Burgess has transacted more than 30 yachts for Asia clients, averaging 54m in length and totalling more than US$1.5 billion in transaction values.

Jean-Marc Poullet, Burgess’ Chairman Asia, said: “Despite a subdued Asia market in 2023, our deep relationships and proven large-yachts expertise resulted in a very strong year. I want to thank our excellent ‘glocal’ (global-local) Asia team, which worked very hard the whole year to achieve this result.”

On the brokerage side, the Asia team advised sellers on the transaction of a 90m-plus Oceanco, the 85m Lürssen Amatasia (formerly Areti, now Gigia and for charter with Burgess), the 74m Amels Lady E and the 61m Amels Event, while completing the new build and delivery of a 42m Custom Line and progressing on the new build of a 38m Rosetti.

In addition, Burgess obtained new exclusive sales mandates for the 55m Amels Papa, 52m Codecasa Atlas, new 42m Heysea Song of Songs and a new Custom Line Navetta 42.

For charter, the Asia team welcomed 85m SilverYachts Wanderlust and 68m Abeking & Rasmussen Starlust to the global charter fleet, while completing about 30 central agency and direct charters on yachts ranging from 30-90m.

In 2023, the Asia team’s yacht management fleet comprised 10 yachts from 35-85m cruising in various places globally, with Burgess providing a mix of operational, administrative, financial and crew management services.

Mark Woodmansey, Partner and Head of Brokerage Asia, said: “While we had strong success in the 50m-plus segment in 2023, we are equally focused on expanding our activities in the 30-50m range and look forward to recruiting more brokers specialised in that segment.”

Ferretti Yachts is scheduled to stage the world premiere of the Infynito 80 at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 10-15. Built at the Ferretti Group’s new Marina di Ravenna shipyard on Italy’s east coast, the model is the second in a new range that began with the Infynito 90 that debuted at Cannes last year before hull one made its way to its owner in China.

Featuring an overall length of 23.7m (77ft 9in) and a beam of 6.36m (20ft 10in), the Infynito 80 features exteriors by Filippo Salvetti and interiors by IdeaeItalia, and was designed in collaboration with Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee chaired by Piero Ferrari and the company’s Engineering Department.

Like the Infynito 90, the Infynito 80’s signature feature is the ‘all-season terrace’, a covered foredeck that can be set up in a variety of ways, while notable differences include a flybridge that can be open or semi-closed.

Salvetti said: “After Infynito 90, we developed the range’s second model with the aim of retaining some of this design’s unique and inimitable characteristics, while also adding new features tailored for a project of a different size.

“We’re proud to present Infynito 80, a solution with above-average covered exterior space, enabling owners to enjoy the yacht in all seasons and weather conditions but without sacrificing direct contact with the sea, the surrounding environment or the sun.”

Like her big sister, the Infynito 80 features Ferretti Sustainable Enhanced Architecture (FSEA), a package of environmentally friendly cruising solutions. They include an integrated system that stores the solar energy collected by the photovoltaic panels installed on the hard top in an energy bank consisting of 14 high-density lithium batteries.

The battery pack is in the engine room, in watertight steel containers fitted with temperature-monitoring sensors. There’s also a special focus on the use of green materials, such as natural and bamboo fabrics, regenerated leather and recyclable materials, ecological water-based paints and lamellar teak with FSC 5 certification, used throughout the exteriors.

The beach area has an aft platform with a linear lift for launching and hauling up the tender, and is overlooked by a sea-view couch incorporating a generous storage unit. The 19sqm cockpit has free-standing furniture for greater flexibility in terms of layout and use.

In the 29sqm saloon, the dining room can be replaced by a show kitchen with a bar counter and stools. The main galley is at the forward end of the main deck, with an electrically operated sliding glass door providing direct access to the all-season terrace.

The covered forward terrace is sheltered by an extension to the superstructure for protection and total privacy. The 13sqm terrace can be configured as a dinette, with seating and an extending table, or as a bar counter. The semi-raised pilothouse is accessed by a staircase in the centre of the main deck.

The standard flybridge is totally open, although owners can choose a semi-closed one with glass panels, while the fixed hard top provides shade for the upper dining area. The aft flybridge features an outdoor galley and a clear area for free-standing furniture such as sun loungers.

The 43sqm lower deck has a full-beam master suite midships, a VIP cabin and two guest cabins, while the crew quarters contain three berths in two cabins.

Davide Bernardini and Alessio Battistini of IdeaeItalia said: “Infynito 80’s interior design builds on the sustainability solutions adopted for Infynito 90, which are the key plus point of this range. From lamellar teak and eco-friendly paints to regenerated leather and other recyclable materials, everything is designed to offer a yachting experience that fully respects the environment.

“Not to mention the iconic Ferretti Yachts moods: Classic, which taps into earthy elements, and Contemporary, featuring glowing woods and fabrics in fresh hues inspired by the colours of the sea. Both moods create a sophisticated aesthetic in functional and efficient spaces designed for owners who increasingly see their yacht as a new place to live in, as if it were an extension of their home”.

The Infynito 80 can be fitted with a pair of 1,400mhp Man V12 engines for a top speed of 23 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots, based on preliminary data, while with high-efficiency hull helps achieve a range of 1,000nm at 12 knots.

Gulf Craft has announced the sale of the first hull of the Majesty 160, which was announced at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2026. The project is the second-largest model built by the shipyard and follows the Majesty 175, the world’s largest composite production superyacht, which was delivered in 2021.

Italy’s Cristiano Gatto has designed the exterior and interior of the Majesty 160, with Dutch studio Van Oossanen Naval Architects handling the hull design of the sub-500GT design, which is being built to commercial class and has seven guest cabins.

Mohammed Alshaali, co-founder and Chairman of Gulf Craft, said: “The Majesty 160 project embodies both Gulf Craft’s and Majesty Yachts’ bold vision to fill a distinct gap in the market. This extraordinary superyacht offers unparalleled space and amenities, delivering luxury living on the water just under the 500GT mark.

“With meticulous attention to detail, we’ve created a vessel that redefines the yachting experience, setting a new standard of elegance. The Majesty 160 is not just a superyacht; it’s a testament to our commitment to innovation and our dedication to exceeding the expectations of our clients in every aspect of luxury cruising.”

The Majesty 160 has an overall length of 164ft (50m) and a volume of 498GT. Twin 2,000hp MTU 16V 2000 M87 engines provide a top speed of almost 20 knots and a range of 3,500nm at 12 knots or 4,300nm at 10.8 knots.

The yacht is fitted with two pairs of zero-speed carbon fin stabilisers, twin 100kW generators and solar panels at the top of the sun deck roof capable of powering one of the generators, so reducing fuel consumption.

Exterior areas include an expansive sun deck with modular and moveable furniture along with an infinity pool and a customisable, multi-purpose beach club that can be used as a lounge, bar area, gym or health club. The swim platform provides easy access to the water, while fold-down balconies on both sides expand the sunbathing and social areas.

The smart layout has an innovative climate control system and accommodates up to 12 guests across its seven staterooms, which include a full-beam master suite forward on the main deck that includes a private lounge, retractable balcony and a large bathroom with both bath and shower room. The yacht can also accommodate up to nine crew.

Wing stations on the main deck aid manoeuvring in and out of tight marinas and ports, while options include a helm station on the sun deck. The Majesty 160 draws just 2.3m so can cruise shallow areas, enabling close beach access due to its ground-breaking engineering and use of a lightweight, sturdy composite hull.

Founded in 1982, Gulf Craft has built over 10,000 boats and currently manufactures yachts and boats from 34-175ft across five series: Majesty, Nomad, Oryx, Silvercraft and Touring Passenger Vessels. The shipyard operates a 462,000sqft production facility in Umm Al Quwain (UAE), a 100,000sqft factory in the Maldives, and a service centre in Ajman (UAE).

Travelopia, which owns Sunsail and The Moorings, announced that it has acquired 160 charter boats for delivery in 2024, which will take the total fleet across the two sister charter companies to 750 yachts available in over 20 destinations worldwide.

Travelopia’s Yacht division also includes Leopard Catamarans, whose personalised sailing and power catamarans for private owners are built at Robertson & Caine, South Africa’s biggest boatbuilding company, which produces charter-specific editions of the Leopard catamarans for Sunsail and The Moorings.

The 160 boats ordered by Travelopia comprise 110 sailing and power catamarans from Robertson & Caine and 50 sailing monohulls by Dufour, following a partnership with the French builder announced last year.

Sunsail and The Moorings also sell their models through a yacht ownership programme created by The Moorings in 1971. Through the Covid-19 pandemic and after the likes of Hurricane Irma, the two companies continued to pay guaranteed revenues to all its owners without exception.

Travelopia’s Yacht division has also announced record-breaking results with a total turnover of €315 million for the fiscal year ending on September 30, 2023. It marked the fifth successive record-breaking year for the division, whose total yacht sales revenues have increased by 60 per cent across the past three years.

“Our Moorings and Sunsail Yacht Ownership revenues have surged and combined with the explosive growth of our exclusive distribution of Leopard Catamarans, 2023 was another exceptional year for our yacht sales activities, marking the fifth consecutive record-breaking year,” Sunsail and The Moorings stated.

Sunreef’s main Gdansk facility

Sunreef Yachts plans to increase its workforce across its two production sites in Poland by 15 per cent in 2024, while also doubling its staff at its third facility, in the UAE. Last year, Sunreef delivered 80 per cent more units than in 2021, as it starts to regularly launch models from its new Eco series of solar-electric catamarans, and revealed a 40 per cent growth in revenue over two years.

Francis Lapp founded Sunreef in Gdansk in 2002 and the luxury catamaran manufacturer still uses its original site at the historic Gdansk Shipyard due to production demand, which led to the company opening a larger facility further east along the Martwa Wisla river.

In total, the two facilities cover 125,000sqm and feature build halls with in-house carpentry, upholstery and stainless-steel workshops, as well as one of Europe’s largest computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The facility continues to evolve, with a high-tech paint shop added last year, while a 5,000sqm warehouse and production area is set to be completed in the coming months.

Last year, Sunreef also started operations at its new facility in the UAE, where it has a 65,000sqm land reserve in the northern emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The new facility “incorporates the latest technologies in luxury yacht building and meets the highest standards of sustainability and energy efficiency”, according to Sunreef.

Custom Line has launched hull one of the Navetta 38 at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona on Italy’s east coast, with the sun-kissed ceremony attended by the owner’s family and shipyard employees.

Ferretti Group’s near-80,000sqm Ancona shipyard produces all Custom Line and CRN builds, as well as metal yachts by Riva and Pershing.

The Custom Line Navetta 38 has an overall length of 38.76m (127ft 2in) based on a displacement hull of 38.66m (126ft 10in) with a beam of 7.9m (25ft 11in), plus a draft of 2.27m (7ft 5in).

Like all recent Custom Line models, the 299GT tri-deck features exterior styling by Filippo Salvetti and interior design by ACPV Architects, founded and led by Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel.

Both studios worked in collaboration with Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Department chaired by Piero Ferrari and the company’s Engineering Department.

Custom Line Atelier provided interior design consulting, working closely with the owner “to transform the yacht into a faithful portrait of his style preferences”, according to Ferretti Group.

Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group’s CEO, said: “Seeing a new Navetta enter the water is a powerful emotion, as it is to go aboard and experience the level of comfort offered by this outstanding ship.

“As a great fan of the Custom Line world, I can assure you that Navetta 38 is seriously exciting and represents a new way to enjoy the sea, featuring elegant materials and interior and exterior spaces that offer unprecedented liveability.

“She’s extraordinary but in a natural and harmonious way, with all the grace of a true thoroughbred. I’m sure she will be adored by all owners looking for a superior yachting experience.”

The main deck features an extra-long covered cockpit, a saloon with a lounge and dining area, galley, staircases, the forward master suite of over 40sqm and storage for a jet-ski in the bow.

The lower deck includes two VIP suites and two guest cabins, plus a forward crew quarters including accommodation for six crew. The aft end includes a large garage and a swim platform plus drop-down sides that can increase the waterside beach club area to 70sqm.

The upper deck also includes an extra-long covered aft deck, upper saloon, the wheelhouse and the adjacent captain’s cabin. The foredeck starts with a wide C-shaped sofa facing a large, flexible four-person sunpad, as well as a technical area.

The sun deck has a jacuzzi and sunpads aft, a covered area with an outdoor galley and room for lounging and dining, while there’s space forward for loose furniture such as sun loungers.

Fitted with twin 1,400hp MAN V12 engines and with a fuel capacity of 34,000 litres, the 241-tonne superyacht has a top speed of 15 knots, a cruising speed of 12 knots and a range of 2,800nm at an economic cruising speed of 10 knots.
