Founded by CEO Boum Senous in 2016, Yacht Sourcing has an expansive new yacht portfolio, and the company’s suite of services includes charter, yacht management and refits, plus phinisi construction at its Sulawesi shipyard. Senous said A Voyage of Elegance was timely, on the back of the recent announcement that a 180-berth marina in Bali is under construction, with the first phase set to open in 2025.

Senous highlighted the unique features of Indonesia’s regions, from Alor’s seasonal blue whale sightings to the unique ecosystem of Komodo, known for its famous Komodo dragons.

The inland Italian builder expects to premiere the 70 Fly motoryacht at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival.

The 70 Fly will be the flagship of Absolute’s planing flybridge line

Absolute is developing the 70 Fly, which will become the flagship of the Italian shipyard’s planing flybridge series when it debuts in 2025. As well as the 60 Fly, 56 Fly, 52 Fly and 47 Fly, the inland builder also produces the high-volume Navetta series (48, 52, 53, 58, 62, 64, 68, 70, 75) and the new Coupé line (48).

The upcoming 70 Fly will feature Absolute’s first high-low swim platform, which will include integrated, non-slip steps and dedicated storage for sea toys. “This feature brings a new dimension of enjoyment for those who love the water,” Absolute stated.

The aft cockpit terrace leads to a high-low swim platform

The cockpit terrace includes open lateral balustrades that enhance the views, flexible furnishings and a well-equipped hospitality area with a wet bar, fridge and storage.

Atmospheric external lighting transforms the space into an evocative setting after sunset, showcasing its easy access to the aft bathing platform, saloon, foredeck and flybridge. Like the cockpit, the foredeck includes ambient lighting systems, with concealed strip appliances that give furniture units an appearance of suspension.

The flybridge offers expansive social areas

The flybridge is notable for its low, reverse-raked windscreen, which protects guests and a starboard helm station featuring flush-mounted monitors and intuitive controls. The fly deck offers integrated sofas all along the port side, loose chairs to starboard and an L-shaped wet bar aft of the helm station.

The 70 Fly’s architecture is designed to minimise the barriers between exterior and interior, so guests feel in close contact with the seascape wherever they are on board. This is particularly notable in the saloon’s new six-leaf sliding door on the port side, which opens up the dining area to the outside, offering a blend of indoor comfort and alfresco dining.

The saloon has sliding doors to port

Panoramic windows and slim stainless-steel handrails ensure unobstructed views, while the galley is positioned to serve both the saloon and cockpit. The soft furnishings have also been redesigned, with elegant, full-height curtaining adding luxurious comfort. Absolute has created access from the lower helm to the lateral walkways on both sides, facilitating mooring operations.

On the lower deck, the full-beam owner’s stateroom includes a king-size bed, vanity area and extensive storage. Large windows offer immense natural light and can be opened to offer natural ventilation, while the en-suite bathroom is comprehensively equipped and superbly finished.

The aft VIP cabin mirrors the master’s level of finish, while in between are a guest cabin with two single berths and one with two electrically-convertible berths. The crew cabin has a separate entrance from the lateral walkway, with one or two berths and a dedicated shower.

Italian private equity firm Orienta Capital Partners, as an advisory company to FARO Alternative Investments, and American investment firm Lionheart Capital have acquired Sunseeker International from China’s Wanda Group, which had owned the British yacht builder since 2013.

Sunseeker will remain a British company based in Poole, where the primary production, workforce and current infrastructure are concentrated. In the 2023 financial year, the shipyard generated approximately GBP320 million (about US$413 million) of aggregate sales, mainly from yachts in the 15-50m range.

Italian Andrea Frabetti, who formerly worked at Ferretti Group for 25 years, has been CEO of Sunseeker since 2019.

We are confident that under the new leadership, Sunseeker will thrive and reach new heights,” Frabetti said. “Our goal remains to deliver exceptional yachts that embody luxury, performance and innovation, while honouring the legacy and vision of our founders.”

Sunseeker stated that its new co-owners’ experience in the yachting industry will bring added value to the brand. Giancarlo Galeone, Chairman of FARO and the new Chairman of Sunseeker, has strong experience in the yachting sector, having been CEO of Ferretti Group from 1995-2006 and 2011-12.

We are thrilled to start this new journey alongside Sunseeker. Our strong expertise in the yachting industry, combined with our long-lasting relationship with its CEO, will allow us to further enhance the British identity and craftsmanship, driving the brand towards ambitious goals,” Galeone said.

“We can expect a substantial investment into the development of new core and niche models, supporting the worldwide presence of the brand.”

Miami-based Lionheart Capital specialises in the luxury real estate, hospitality and leisure sectors, and has been an owner of the Cigarette Racing team since 2021. Ophir Sternberg, Lionheart’s founder and CEO, is now also co-owner of Sunseeker.

“We are excited to welcome Sunseeker into the Lionheart Capital family,” Sternberg said. “This acquisition represents a strategic investment in a brand with a storied history, including as James Bond’s yacht maker, and a bright future. Lionheart understands the unique dynamics of the luxury yacht industry, and I am confident in Sunseeker’s potential for growth and innovation.”

From October 24-28, 2024, the iconic Italian Navy training ship Amerigo Vespucci graced Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre. As part of its ongoing world tour, the nearly 100-year-old vessel brought a taste of Italian heritage to the Lion City, offering Singaporeans a rare opportunity to explore Italy’s rich maritime traditions and cultural excellence. After that, it will be the turn of Phuket’s Cape Panwa from November 6 for five days.

Amerigo Vespucci

The Amerigo Vespucci — often regarded as “the most beautiful ship in the world” — will anchored in Singapore as the 25th stop on its international tour. The ship will be accompanied by the Villaggio Italia — a showcase of Italian art, culture, cuisine, and innovation. This floating exhibition invites visitors on a sensory journey through Italy’s finest exports, including music, cinema, technology, and scientific research.

Amerigo Vespucci

The official reception began with an opening ceremony on October 24, featuring notable figures from both Italy and Singapore. Key attendees included Italy’s Deputy Minister of Enterprise, Valentino Valentini; Italian Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Dante Brandi; and the Navy’s Chief of Staff, Admiral Enrico Credendino. The evening was a dazzling event, blending diplomacy with a celebration of Italy’s global influence.

Amerigo Vespucci

During the four days that followed, the public was invited to step aboard the Amerigo Vespucci to experience its legacy first-hand. From Thursday evening through Sunday, the ship was open for tours, where visitors learned about its longstanding role in training naval officers and its proud representation of Italy on the global stage.

Amerigo Vespucci

As part of the Amerigo Vespucci World Tour, the Villaggio Italia will transformed Marina Bay Cruise Centre into a vibrant hub of Italian culture. Guests to enjoyed to an eclectic mix of events, ranging from art exhibits and musical performances to discussions on sustainability, technology, and scientific breakthroughs. This multi-annual exhibition aims to foster a dialogue on strategic issues such as research, entrepreneurship, and future markets.

Amerigo Vespucci

Supported by Italy’s Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, this tour showcases the best of Italy, from its naval prowess to its entrepreneurial spirit. Singapore, with its global outlook and dynamic economy, is the ideal stage for this Italian celebration, bringing the essence of “Made in Italy” to Southeast Asia. Confindustria, the main association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy, chose Singapore’s Villaggio Italia to present the 12th “Exporting the Dolce Vita” Report, which analyses the export potential of Italy’s “beautiful and well-made” products on the international scene, with a focus on the fashion, food, nautical and wood-furniture sectors.

As the Amerigo Vespucci sails across the globe, it carries with it not only the traditions of Italian seafaring but also a modern narrative of innovation and excellence that continues to inspire across continents.

Benetti has sold the first unit of its B.Yond 57M, just weeks after the model’s official presentation at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show. The 57M is the largest hybrid unit in the B.Yond ‘voyager’ family of yachts, which features advanced eco-friendly technologies, exterior design by Igor Lobanov of Lobanov Design and interior styling by Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture.

Daniela Petrozzi, Benetti’s Sales Director, said: “We are proud to announce the sale of the first unit of B.Yond 57M as this demonstrates the market’s positive reaction to our new projects announced at the end of September. We are happy to start this new journey with our client.”

Benetti, B.Yond 57M, Igor Lobanov, Lobanov Design, Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture, Daniela Petrozzi, hybrid

The B.Yond 57M features hybrid technology

The B.Yond 57M is offered with Beach, Air or Water stern configurations. The owner of the first unit has selected the Beach version, which includes an expansive 162sqm beach area and a 15sqm pool that can be covered by a sliding sofa system and converted into a lounging area.

The beach area is directly connected with the convertible garage deck, a 100sqm flexible space that – when toys are in the water – can be converted into a shaded zone, creating an outstanding external/internal area of 260sqm.

The innovative interior layout includes guest cabins on the main deck and the main saloon on the upper deck, allowing for panoramic views through floor-to-ceiling windows and an uninterrupted, 22m-long open space.

The B.Yond 57M is part of Benetti’s ‘voyager’ family of yachts

The B.Yond 57M advanced technology includes a hybrid-electric system that allows the yacht to cruise or stay at anchor with zero emissions. A direct-expansion HVAC (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning) system offers customised temperature and humidity settings while reducing consumption by up to 80 per cent compared to conventional water systems.

Additionally, instead of teak to cover the decks, Benetti has chosen EcoDeck®, a sustainable and 100 per cent recyclable material, while FSC woods and sustainable fabrics, leathers and stones have been chosen for the interior fittings, with water-based paints used for the finishes.

As the entry list rises for this year’s Phuket King’s Cup Regatta, the event is also enjoying strong corporate support. Amazing Thailand – the promotional slogan of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) – was recently announced as a gold sponsor for the 36th edition, which will be held from November 30 to December 6.

“Their support is vital in enhancing the experience for our sailing community and gives our international participants a fantastic opportunity to explore the stunning beauty of Phuket and the Andaman Sea,” regatta organisers stated. “We’re grateful for their trust and commitment to making this year’s regatta a memorable event for everyone involved.”

Centara Hotels & Resorts is among silver sponsors of the week-long event, which will again be held in the waters off Kata Beach.

The King’s Cup is Asia’s most famous international regatta and features keelboats, multihulls, optimists and dinghies. Disabled sailing will feature in this year’s event and be held in two-person SV14 dinghies on the same days as the main dinghy competition.

Inaugurated in 1987 to celebrate the 60th birthday of His Majesty King Rama 9 of Thailand, the event has since been held every year apart from 2020 and 2021 due to Covid. Last December, the King’s Cup made headlines as King Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida became the first Royal visitors to the event.

On the last day of racing, Queen Suthida competed on Vayu THA72, as the TP52 owned by brothers Kevin and Tom Whitcraft won both of its races to finish second overall in IRC Zero. The Queen later presided over the Royal Awards Presentation, presenting awards to all the winners.

DCH Marine continues Asia-Pacific expansion

Now the APAC representative for Sunseeker, Saxdor and Williams, DCH Marine has big plans for growth in Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Headquartered in Hong Kong and with offices in Shenzhen (China) and Singapore, DCH Marine is planning to continue its Asia-Pacific expansion by opening offices in Phuket (Thailand), as well as across Australia, including in New South Wales, Gold Coast and Perth.

A newly branded dealership with a decade of success in Greater China, DCH Marine currently represents Sunseeker, Saxdor and Williams across the entire Asia-Pacific region, where the growing dealership plans to have a strong presence at the region’s leading boat shows.

A participant at the recent Lantau Yacht Club Boat Show – Festa Nautica in Hong Kong, DCH Marine is preparing to exhibit at the Hong Kong International Boat Show (November 28-December 1, 2024), Thailand International Boat Show (January 9-12, 2025) and Singapore Yachting Festival (April 10-13, 2025).

The company will then turn its attention to Australia, where it will participate at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (22-25 May 2025) and Sydney International Boat Show (July 31-August 3, 2025).

Adam Waters, DCH Marine’s Managing Director, said: “DCH Marine employs many of the region’s foremost yachting professionals and experts, and our team continues to grow across Asia-Pacific as we roll out new markets and offices.

We’ve always been committed to providing the best customer experience, so we’re investing heavily in our people, premises and product offerings to ensure we continue to lead in this market.”

DCH Marine’s services across its varied markets and locations in Asia-Pacific include new yacht sales, brokerage, after-sales services and maintenance. Founded in 2013 as Princess Yachts Greater China, the dealership recently concluded its official representation of the British builder, although it continues to support its Princess clients for ongoing warranty and service work.

As it recently embarked on a new era, the dealership was renamed DCH Marine ahead of its appointment as Sunseeker’s exclusive master distributor for Asia-Pacific, with the new name reflecting the company’s ownership by the Dah Chong Hong (DCH) Holdings conglomerate.

Earlier this year, Sunseeker announced DCH Marine’s representation of the brand in Singapore and then Australia and New Zealand before revealing in September that the dealership was overseeing all of Asia-Pacific – the largest territory ever assigned to a single distributor.

As DCH Marine, we entered a long-term agreement with Sunseeker International, which cemented the next step in our future,” Waters said. “Sunseeker wanted master distributors to cover large territories, and it suited us to work with them across Asia-Pacific. The partnership was a natural extension of our growth strategy.”

DCH Marine is Sunseeker’s fourth master distributor around the globe, complementing One Water Yacht Group (USA), Sunseeker London Group (Mediterranean) and Sunseeker Gulf (Middle East).

From its manufacturing base in Poole on England’s south coast, Sunseeker employs about 2,200 people and every year produces around 130 boats ranging from 38-161ft, with 98 per cent exported. With Asia-Pacific already home to over 500 Sunseeker yachts, DCH Marine is well-positioned to build on this strong foundation.

Douglas Culverwell, Sunseeker International’s Director of Distributor Development, said: “DCH Marine has consistently demonstrated a world-class level of customer service and support. Asia-Pacific is a vital region for Sunseeker, and we’re truly excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring.”

DCH Marine’s new yachts portfolio also includes British company Williams, one of the world’s leading producers of jet tenders and formerly represented by the dealership when it was known as Princess Yachts Greater China.

In January, DCH Marine’s ambitions were underlined when it was announced at Boot Dusseldorf that it was the Asia-Pacific representative of Saxdor, the fast-growing Finnish builder of luxury, versatile day boats and the latest shipyard founded by renowned designer Sakari Mattila.

Part of DCH Marine’s remit is to help select distributors outside of its core Asia-Pacific markets, exemplified by the recent appointment of Yacht Sourcing as Saxdor’s Indonesia representative, with more to come.

Offshore racing is sailing’s gruelling discipline. It is arduous, unpredictable and places immense strain on competing crews. Throughout a gripping 45th edition of the 606-nautical-mile Rolex Middle Sea Race, the qualities of perseverance, adaptability and dedication came to the fore as the 112-strong fleet confronted the vagaries of the both the weather and the contest itself.

Success at one of the world’s foremost 600-nautical-mile races demands the maximum from each individual and every crew as a collective. Rolex has partnered the Rolex Middle Sea Race and its organiser Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) since 2002.

Hong Kong’s Scallywag 100 and the German-flagged TP52 Red Bandit secured line honours and overall victory on handicap respectively, and the stories behind the winners of the race’s main prizes are of crews working together to overcome adversity.

Scallywag 100 was joined at the front of the monohull fleet by another imperious 100ft maxi, the Monaco-flagged Black Jack 100, together with the American 88-footer Lucky, which under its previous guise as Rambler 88 claimed line honours at the race on five occasions.

The predicted tight contest played out. Throughout the race, Scallywag 100 and Black Jack 100 frequently exchanged leadership of the race. The key moment came when Scallywag 100’s decorated Spanish navigator Juan Vila made an inspired tactical call when rounding Lampedusa, one of the last main junctures in the race.

The decision was not to tack but head into a cloud to gain a better angle, a calculated risk that allowed her to pull away from her rival. Scallywag 100 arrived back in Malta to post a winning elapsed time of two days, 21 hours, 33 minutes and 29 seconds.

Scallywag 100 owner Lee Seng Huang has committed significant time and energy to the team’s campaign, with the crew fully focused on delivering success and sailing the boat to its maximum potential.

Line honours victory provided immense satisfaction for skipper David Witt and the crew after the devastation of retiring from last year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race following a broken bowsprit.

“This is a really prestigious Rolex race and a test to see if we did the right thing,” Witt said. “That’s one of the toughest races I’ve done in a 100-footer. It was a massive team effort. I am really proud of the team – we never made a mistake. Starting and finishing in Malta is fantastic and something we’d like to do it again.”

Red Bandit’s crew, led by skipper Carl-Peter Forster, is made up of two professionals and 11 talented young sailors who have assiduously followed Forster’s charitable pathway programme designed to develop the offshore sailors of tomorrow. For the skipper, success was reward for the commitment which has gone into the initiative.

“It is a dream to win the Rolex Middle Sea Race. It is a bit unreal and will be for a while. When the crew started this project, they had very little knowledge of offshore or big boat sailing,” said Forster, whose team also won last year’s 70th Rolex Giraglia.

“We’ve come a long way over the last three years, and everyone has learnt to sail this delicate machine. A TP52 is very difficult to handle both in the breeze and in the light winds. You can’t take your eyes off the instruments for a second.”

The crew had to contend with a brutal first night at sea. On the stretch along the east coast of Sicily from Capo Passero to the Messina Strait, and with the mighty volcano of Etna illuminating the night sky, the fleet were besieged by a violent thunderstorm.

Twelve months earlier, Red Bandit faced misfortune when forced to retire from the race at a similar stage because of equipment damage. This year the boat proved more robust, and the race proved a relentless experience.

Joshua Weber, Red Bandit’s navigator said: “There are lots of decisions to take and things to figure out. The race has many individual segments and longer stretches in between that you have to get right. It comes down to the whole team not just putting the boat in the right place but getting it there and going as fast as possible. It requires a huge, combined effort.”

Overcoming adversity and achieving it as a collective defines all the 600-nautical-mile offshore classics supported by Rolex. The 2024 Rolex Middle Sea Race has ably demonstrated that an intrepid human spirit is a hallmark characteristic of offshore racing and Rolex’s longstanding support for this eternally appealing discipline of yachting.
