The Italian shipyard has already started installing the AI-based collision-prevention system on selected new Azimut motoryachts.

Azimut|Benetti Group has revealed details of WatchIt Eye, an AI-based collision-prevention system designed specifically for recreational boating. WatchIt Eye is a collaboration between the Group’s R&D Department and WatchIt, a marine-tech company led by former naval commander and captain Tal Duvdevany.

“WatchIt brings proactive safety to the water, automating risk detection so captains can focus on what really matters: safe, confident navigation,” Duvdevany said. “With WatchIt Eye, we’re setting a new standard in how boats understand their surroundings and respond in real time.”

Designed to detect obstacles ranging from floating objects to vessels and underwater hazards, the product was a nominee in the ‘Collaborative Solution between a Builder and its Supply Chain Partner’ category of the Boat Builder Awards 2025, which were held at the Metstrade indoor show in the Netherlands in November.

WatchIt Eye has already been installed on new Azimut motoryachts including the Fly 82, which debuted at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, and is available for installation across the fleet.

Created specifically for the recreational boating sector, where collisions and groundings are among

critical issues, WatchIt Eye focuses on alert timing – rather than the distance from an obstacle – and providing the right amount of advance warning to best support the captain.

This allows a captain more time to respond to obstacles such as vessels, tenders, ribs and small objects like kayaks, marking buoys or floating obstacles, as well as yacht-grounding risks, so enhancing safety and significantly reducing the risk of accidents.

Azimut Fly 82

Following the first generation of the WatchIt system, the Eye version developed with Azimut|Benetti Group uses the AI engine to filter real and manageable risks, combining data from various onboard sensors together with a dedicated and custom developed 4D Imaging Radar and alerting the captain only when the detected obstacles pose a genuine risk of collision.

The AI engine underlying this system operates on multiple levels. It’s designed to emulate the decision-making process of an experienced captain, acting as a co-pilot who performs real-time risk assessments.

Furthermore, it enables continuous data collection in the cloud and immediate analysis, and recognises different navigation modes, adapting the risk warning system to the context: port manoeuvres, open-sea cruising or navigating through congested waters.

Due to this information integration, the system can identify threats from all directions and generate timely alerts that allow for high levels of concentration and improved decision-making.

Compared to average marine radars and cameras, the High Frequency 4D Imaging Radar provides excellent short-range detection, precise tracking and target recognition not affected by fog, rain or darkness, as well as “the best ratio of cost to performance”, according to Azimut|Benetti Group.

Alessandro Rossi, Azimut|Benetti Group’s Chief Product Officer, said: “The development of WatchIt Eye demonstrates how our R&D Department is not only focused on integrating the most advanced technologies in collaboration with our partners but also boosting the adoption of advanced solutions coming from other industries, to enhance onboard devices and create tools yacht owners truly need.

“The introduction of this system represents a real advancement in navigation safety, consistent with the Group’s mission to combine innovation and well-being on board.”

Sanlorenzo Asia-Pacific has announced that it will stage the Asia premiere of the Sanlorenzo SL86A at this year’s Hong Kong International Boat Show, which will be held at Club Marina Cove from December 4-7. The company will also display the BG62 from Bluegame, Sanlorenzo’s sister brand.

Featuring a single side deck, the SL86A is among the newest models in Sanlorenzo’s successful SL series of asymmetric planing yachts.

Tom Allen, Simpson Marine’s Country Sales Manager for Hong Kong and China, said: “We are very pleased to be premiering the Sanlorenzo SL86A at this important regional show. Hong Kong remains the most dynamic yachting hub in Asia. With its connection to the Greater Bay Area (GBA) in southern China and a short cruising distance from Hainan, it is also a key regional centre in North Asia.

“With the HKSAR government’s recent commitment to expanding the yachting industry through new infrastructure, facilities and simpler regulations, Hong Kong is charting a bold new course for the future of yachting. The boat show provides an ideal platform to present our latest models to the discerning audience the city is well known for.”

In another boost for Hong Kong, Luca Santella, Bluegame’s founder and Head of Product Strategy, will attend the Marina Cove show. In addition, on December 3, the naval architect will be a keynote speaker at the Business of Design Week (December 2-6), which is organised by the Hong Kong Design Centre, with Italy as Partner Country this year and ‘Curiosity’ as a leading theme.

“It’s a true pleasure to be in Hong Kong for the first time in an official capacity. The city fascinates me with its energy and enthusiasm for the sea,” stated Santella, a former Olympic sailor, who’s part of the Sanlorenzo group’s strategic leadership team.

“The Asia-Pacific region holds immense promise for Sanlorenzo and Bluegame, and I look forward to meeting the local yachting community to share our vision, where innovation, artistry and sustainability converge.”

On the 112’ Dolcevita Super, the Ferretti Group brand has expanded its predecessor and added a game-changing beach club.

Ferretti Group has shared further images and details of Riva’s 112’ Dolcevita Super, the successor to the 110’ Dolcevita that debuted in 2018. One of Riva’s four world premieres at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, the 112’ Dolcevita Super is the second-largest model in the brand’s Flybridge series and only the second to have a ‘Super’ upgrade, after the 100’ Corsaro was renewed as the 102’ Corsaro Super.

Also produced at the Riva shipyard in La Spezia, where the brand’s 70-130ft models are built, the 112’ Dolcevita Super is most notable for the introduction of a three-sided beach club featuring drop-down aft bulwarks on both sides, a feature Riva first deployed on the 82’ Corsaro.

Riva, 112’ Dolcevita Super, 110’ Dolcevita, La Spezia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival

The central swim platform has also been extended by almost 3ft, resulting in an overall length of 34.38m (112ft 10in), while the hull retains its beam of 7.27m (23ft 10in).

The beach club includes an extra-large, aft-facing ‘sun sofa’, which conceals a large garage that can accommodate a Williams DieselJet 565 tender and a Sea-Doo jetski, while a second compartment with natural ventilation can store two Seabobs. Other features include a multifunctional ladder that provides easy, safe boarding and can also be used to enter and leave the water.

On the main deck, the 24sqm cockpit can be furnished according to the owner’s preferences, while forward is a bar with a sink, fridge and optional ice maker, plus an optional third helm station for manoeuvring. In the bow, the foredeck has a C-shaped sofa and sunpad area, and can include a spa pool.

Riva, 112’ Dolcevita Super, 110’ Dolcevita, La Spezia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival

Inside, the 50sqm-plus main saloon has ceiling heights up to 2.25m, while gloss rosewood is the featured wood alongside black hammered leather elements and lacquered surfaces. Hull one features an aft dining area and midships lounge, with a 75-inch TV on the central wall. Riva offers an alternative layout with an aft lounge and midships dining.

The starboard hallway leads to a 9sqm, all-white galley, while the port side leads to the accommodation including forward to the 34sqm, full-beam master suite, which includes an aft-facing central bed, two walk-in wardrobes, a vanity desk, Minotti pouffe and a spacious, twin-basin bathroom. The lower deck includes four en-suite guest cabins, while the crew quarters include three cabins for five.

Riva, 112’ Dolcevita Super, 110’ Dolcevita, La Spezia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival

The 60sqm flybridge includes a clear aft area, which on hull one features freestanding furniture from RODA For You. In the centre, under the carbon hardtop, is a 4m-plus American-style bar with a fridge and the option of an icemaker and a grill, plus a retractable TV. To starboard are a large dining table and C-shaped sofa.

Forward is the upper helm, a port walkway to the foredeck, plus steps down to the raised pilothouse, which is available with four 15-inch Hatteland monitors, four 27-inch screens or two 49-inch Boening displays.

Riva, 112’ Dolcevita Super, 110’ Dolcevita, La Spezia, Ferretti Group, Cannes Yachting Festival

The Riva 112’ Dolcevita Super is a planing yacht with a draught of less than 7ft, making her ideal for cruising in shallow water. The yacht is available with two 2,638hp mtu 16V 2000 engine configurations: the M96L version with a top speed of 25.5 knots and a cruising speed of 23 knots, and the optional M97L version, which meets IMO III and EPA III standards and is fitted with an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system to reduce NOx emissions.

Sleipner electric fins and Hydrotab interceptors are fitted as standard, with Riva offering the option to install two Seakeeper NG18 gyroscopic stabilisers for even more comfort.

Maritimo to debut S50 in 2026

Described by the Australian builder as “ideally suited for cruising in Southeast Asia’s tropical waters”, the S50 will premiere in May.

Maritimo has announced that it will stage the world premiere of its S50 at the 2026 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, which will be held from May 21-24. Distinguished by a sleek, automotive-inspired silhouette, the S50 will be the new entry model for the S-Series of sedan motoryachts, which includes the S55, S60 and S75.

The S50 is scheduled to be unveiled a year after the M50 (click for Review, Issue 85), which quickly earned acclaim after debuting at the Sanctuary Cove show in 2025.

However, the Australian shipyard stresses that the S50 cruiser is “not simply a variation of the celebrated M50” but “is a ground-up reimagining of the classic Maritimo sport yacht DNA”, while incorporating new design elements inspired by the success of the M50 and S55.

Neil McCabe, Maritimo’s Design Manager, said: “We wanted the S50 to be more than just the M50’s smaller sibling. It’s a purpose-built sports motoryacht that’s spacious, sleek and entirely focused on the owner’s experience.

Maritimo, S50, Neil McCabe, Southeast Asia, Australia, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, M50, S55, S60, S75

“With the S55 generation proving to be a landmark success for the brand, we saw an opportunity to take that design language even further by refining the profile, enhancing usability and delivering a vessel that feels every bit as progressive and luxurious but in a more compact footprint.”

The S50 starts aft with a hydraulic swim platform, while the aft cockpit includes a curved sofa facing forward to a trapezoid table and the yacht’s interior. Inside, the aft galley has 2.4m of headroom, while two steps lead up to the 2m-high saloon, which has a C-shaped dinette to port, opposite a sofa and twin-seat helm station to starboard.

Maritimo, S50, Neil McCabe, Southeast Asia, Australia, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, M50, S55, S60, S75

Forward stairs lead to the lower deck, which has 1.94m of headroom. The ample ceiling height adds to the feeling of space in the full-beam owner’s cabin with en-suite bathroom midships, and the forward guest cabin, which has an angled bed as well as en-suite access to a bathroom that also acts as the day head.

“It’s the perfect package,” McCabe added. “Large enough to offer real luxury and range, but still manageable for an owner-operator. With the S50, we’ve distilled everything that makes the S-Series special into its purest form.”

Asiamarine, the exclusive representative of Fraser in Asia, has been appointed as the authorised central sales agent for Baglietto in Asia. The focus will initially be on Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, before expanding across other areas of Asia.

Anders Kurtén, Fraser’s CEO, commented: “This new partnership marks a compelling new step for Fraser Asia and Asiamarine. We very much look forward to a prosperous long-term collaboration between our brands.”

Laura Verbrugge, Sales Manager for Fraser Asia, will manage the partnership with Baglietto, which was founded in 1854 and is one of Italy’s most iconic yacht builders. Jan Jaap Minnema, a Monaco-based Fraser Sales Broker, will take an advisory role, drawing on over 25 years of experience in new-build sales with top-tier shipyards.

Verbrugge said: “We are delighted to partner with this elite Italian shipyard, particularly at such an exciting time for superyachts in Asia. With a growing Asian market and the rapid development of improved infrastructure for superyachts, this is the perfect time to introduce to Asian clients the exceptional craftsmanship and 170-year heritage of the Baglietto brand.”

Baglietto, which has been owned by the Gavio Group since 2012, has had another busy year in 2025.  The La Spezia shipyard participated at the Monaco Yacht Show with a T52 and DOM133, models that have secured at least nine and 12 sales respectively.

Fabio Ermetto, Baglietto’s CCO, said he was hoping the appointment of Asiamarine would open a new chapter for the La Spezia shipyard in Asia.

“Asia represents an extraordinary opportunity for Baglietto. The region shows a growing appetite for high-quality superyachts and a deep appreciation for the Italian design DNA that defines our brand,” Ermetto said.

“Partnering with Asiamarine allows us to strengthen our presence with a team that truly understands the market and shares our commitment to excellence. We look forward to building a long-term and successful collaboration.”

Headquartered in New York, Ancient was founded in 2021 by Alexander Klabin, Chairman and CEO, whose other roles include Chairman of Sotheby’s Financial Services.

“Burgess represents the highest standards in the superyacht industry,” Easton said. “Burgess’ enduring legacy, global reach and commitment to service align perfectly with Ancient’s mission to invest in category-defining platforms built for the long term.”

Van der Valk launches 36m Jangada

SHARE

The Dutch superyacht builder has splashed the third yacht named Jangada for the same client, with features including a gym and a flybridge pool.

Van der Valk Shipyard has launched the 35.9m Jangada, the third collaboration between the yard and the same owner. The first was a 2015 launch, christened Jangada and now named Mr Wonderful, while the second was delivered in 2019 and earned a nomination in the 2020 World Superyacht Awards.

Designed by Nick Top and Guido de Groot, the third Jangada includes a raised pilothouse, while a hardtop will be added to the yacht during its final outfitting stage.

Featuring naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects, the full-displacement motoryacht has a round-bilged steel hull, aluminium superstructure, a 34.8m waterline, an 8.5m beam and a 2.45m draft.

Jangada is fitted with two 900hp MAN D2862 LE427 engines and is expected to have a cruising speed of 13 knots and a top speed of 14-15 knots. Sea trials are “scheduled to commence shortly”, according to Van der Valk. The yacht has a fuel capacity of 33,920 litres and 5,800 litres of water.

High customisation levels include facilitating the owner’s wish to take his morning swim in a 4.5m jet-stream pool on the flybridge. The 7,200-litre capacity pool required installing a warm-water tank below the tender garage, which Van der Valk described as “another testimony to engineering excellence as well as design and layout vision”. Jangada also includes a gym.

The layout has been configured to accommodate the owner’s family lifestyle, with a full-beam master suite positioned forward on the main deck. Lower-deck cabins have been tailored for the owner’s children and grandchildren.

Large glass surfaces in the main saloon, paired with 2.6m-high ceilings, create an open atmosphere and extensive sightlines, while the interior showcases whitewashed wood details. The wheelhouse lounge offers unobstructed views when at anchor, with dashboard screens that fold away discreetly.

The yacht’s design emphasises separation between crew and guest areas, with comprehensive insulation reducing noise transmission throughout the vessel.

Van der Valk stated: “The new Jangada is the third custom build at Van der Valk for the same client and showcases how our yard has the flexibility, capacity and willingness to fully meet evolving requirements and lifestyle changes.”

The 15th  Macau Yacht Show, which concluded on Sunday, attracted more than 10,000 visitors over three days according to organisers of the event, which is also known as the China (Macau) International Yacht Import & Export Fair.

Organisers also stated that the show in Coloane featured 64 yachts and 20 renowned international brands from over 10 countries “across a dynamic display of luxury craft, marine technology, and lifestyle experiences”.

Yachts on show included an Absolute 52 Fly displayed by Absolute Marine, a Ferretti Yachts 550, an Aquila 42 Yacht flybridge powercat by Marine Italia Asia, and a Leopard 43 Powercat and Leopard 42 sailing cat from Omnia Marine.

Focusing on regional cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), the show hosted the GBA Yacht Connectivity Salon (Macau), a high-level forum uniting government officials, marina operators and industry experts.

The dialogue centred on advancing cross-border yachting policies, namely the ‘Northbound Sailing for Hong Kong & Macau Yachts’ and ‘Southbound Sailing for Guangdong Yachts’ initiatives.

Participants shared insights on eight key aspects including customs facilitation, navigation safety and maintenance services, providing a professional foundation for an integrated regional yacht economy.

Business matchmaking sessions further enhanced the show’s international impact, with the invitation of 50 professional buyers from 18 countries including Italy, Australia, India, Mexico and Russia.

Several deals were reached, such as Italian yacht acquisitions and India’s tourism vessel procurement programme, generating intent contracts exceeding RMB 50 million, “reinforcing Macau’s position as a key node in the global yacht trade network”, organisers stated.

“By integrating policy dialogue, international trade collaboration and cultural promotion, this year’s show successfully positioned Macau as a dynamic platform for yacht industry convergence and regional cooperation,” organisers stated.

Summer Girl, a ClubSwan 42 owned by Masahiro Banba, won the first edition of the Swan Asian Regatta in Sagami Bay. The regatta’s fleet was hosted by Riviera Zushi Marina, which is set against the stunning backdrop of Mount Fuji and owned by the Riviera Group, Swan’s exclusive distributor in Japan in 2016.

After three days of racing, Summer Girl secured overall victory ahead of Naomichi Ando’s Swan 45 Lady Kanon and Noboru Watanabe’s Swan 58 Qualia Riviera. Banba is a four-time Japan Cup winner and a two-time participant in the New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup, and currently serves as President of the Japan Sailing Federation.

“Three years ago, when the idea of an Asian Swan Regatta was first proposed, I immediately knew I wanted to take part,” Banba said.

“Winning the first edition is truly the most wonderful feeling imaginable. I’m incredibly proud of my crew, they are a fantastic team. The races were intense and uncompromising, yet the camaraderie and sportsmanship among all participants made the event unforgettable.”

Second-placed Ando, a member of the Seaborn Yacht Club, acquired his Swan 45 in 2022, meticulously restored the yacht, and began his racing campaign this year.

Meanwhile, third-placed Watanabe, Chairman and CEO of the Riviera Group, is the Founding Host and Cultural Partner of the Swan Asian Regatta.

Under the theme ‘Sailing for a Better Ocean’, the Swan Asian Regatta affirmed its commitment to environmental preservation in line with the Riviera Group’s long-standing dedication to sustainable marine development and ocean education. A portion of each yacht’s entry fee was donated to the Riviera Future Creation Project, a certified non-profit organisation established by the Riviera Group.

“With the passionate owners participating in this first edition, we proudly felt the dawn of a new era for the Swan family in Asia,” said Watanabe, who also owns the Riviera Country Club, the venue for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic golf competition. “We wish to continue sharing with the world a new future where sport, culture, and sustainability live in harmony.”

For Nautor Swan, the Swan Asian Regatta held special significance as it reached out to a community of Asian yacht owners who share a deep connection with sailing.

Barry Ashmore, Nautor Swan’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are absolutely amazed by the warm welcome we received. Everyone has been incredibly supportive throughout all activities, and we are already starting to organise next year’s edition.”

The Swan Asian Regatta will return in 2026, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of Nautor Swan’s founding, which will also be marked by a major edition of the Rolex Swan Cup in Porto Cervo.
