Della Pearce: Singapore shining again

Della Pearce: Singapore shining again

SHARE

In a Column for YACHT STYLE, Della Pearce of Hong Seh explains that she’s delighted to see her home city take centre stage again, with stunning yachts making their Asia debuts, regional and international sailing events, and lots to look forward to in the coming year.

  •

Della Pearce, Fernando Alonso and Edward Tan at the Sunreef event in Singapore

Singapore and the region have experienced a great deal of yachting activity since late last year, when we welcomed Sunreef ambassador Fernando Alonso as the two-time F1 champion visited Singapore (click for article) and later hosted the first Ferretti Beach Out on Lazarus Island (click for article). This is largely due to the increasing number of events in the Southeast Asia region and the growing affluence in the region.

The area’s climate makes it an ideal location for yachting, with steady winds, warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine throughout the year. Furthermore, with sophisticated marinas and world-class yacht clubs, Singapore and its neighbouring states are quickly becoming a hub for yachting enthusiasts from around the region.

Hong Seh concluded 2022 with the Ferretti Beach Out

EXCITING ARRIVALS

Last year was incredible for large boat deliveries in Singapore, with over 10 superyachts ranging from 28-44m delivered into the city. We’re proud to say that Hong Seh accounted for five of those including a Custom Line Navetta 30, the brand’s first new build sold into the city.

The sales of these superyachts coincide with the number of family offices that have now moved to Singapore. Furthermore, with the presence of these larger yachts, there has been a growing demand for professional yacht management services in Singapore that weren’t needed for smaller boats.

Riva Rivamare

As Singapore’s exclusive dealer for Ferretti Yachts, Riva and Pershing from Italy’s Ferretti Group, Hong Seh Yachting is now looking forward to delivering two iconic, luxury boats to clients in Singapore – a Rivamare and a wallypower58. With their sleek designs and state-of-the-art features, they offer exceptional comfort and luxury to their owners.

A stalwart of Riva’s iconic Open series, the Rivamare is a 39ft yacht which has been meticulously crafted to offer opulent living quarters, with stylish interiors and a spacious deck.

Wally’s wallypower 58

On the other hand, the wallypower58 boasts an innovative design that optimises space and performance. These Riva and Wally models are exceptional boats that are sure to impress anyone who enjoys the finer things in life.

EVENTS GALORE

The recent Singapore Yachting Festival showcased the latest and greatest in yachting technology, equipment and accessories.

Hong Seh hosted a Ferretti Yachts 500 open day in February

The four-day event provided an opportunity for visitors to get up close and personal with a range of stunning yachts and boats, and to learn more about the various aspects of yachting.

Featuring seminars, demonstrations and exhibitions from leading experts within the yachting industry, the Festival offered a wealth of information for both experienced yachtsmen and those new to boating.

Hong Seh Yachting and Ferretti Group at Singapore Yachting Festival

Our display at the Singapore Yachting Festival included the Asia debut of the Ferretti Yachts 860 – the brand’s third-largest model – a Ferretti Yachts 780, Ferretti Yachts 720 and a Ferretti Yachts 500. It was great to spend several days with friends from Ferretti Group in Italy and the Ferretti Group Asia Pacific office in Hong Kong, who all flew in for the event.

We also displayed a Schaefer V33 from Brazil and a Zodiac Medline 6.8 RIB from France, as we also represent Sunreef, Boston Whaler, Schaefer and Zodiac under Hong Seh Marine.

Four Ferretti Yachts models at the Singapore Yachting Festival

Earlier in the year, Singapore’s first SailGP marked a significant milestone in the nation’s history of sailing. The event brought the world’s top sailors and teams to Singapore to compete in thrilling races aboard high-performance F50 catamarans.

The event showcased Singapore’s ability to host world-class sporting events, with state-of-the-art facilities and stunning views of the city skyline providing a perfect backdrop for the races. There were a fleet of 80-100 boats out on the water to view the F50s, a spectacle in itself.

SailGP in Singapore

Soon after, this year’s edition of the Neptune Regatta again started at Nongsa Point Marina on the Indonesian island of Batam, an hour’s ferry ride southeast of Singapore, with participants sailing to the equator.

The regatta attracts participants from the local community as well as international sailors. The competition features several categories, including cruising and racing divisions, and includes both power and sail vessels.

ONE°15 Marina Nirup Island

There’s plenty more to look out for south of Singapore, with the highly anticipated marina on Nirup Island set to open its doors to the public in the middle of the year. Even closer to Singapore than Batam is, the small Indonesian island is surrounded by coral reefs and clear blue water, and will feature luxurious resort accommodation and a host of yachting amenities.

As the countdown to its opening continues, expectations remain high, and boaters are already eagerly awaiting the chance to experience Nirup Island for themselves.

SINGAPORE SAILING

And there’s more to look forward to. Hong Seh recently became a sponsor of the 35-strong Singapore Sailing Team (click for article), whose competitions include the SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in May and the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from September 23-October 8.

Hong Seh with the Singapore Sailing Team

Our sponsorship also covers the Paris 2024 Olympics in France, where the sailing competition will be held in Marseille from July 28-August 8.

Hong Seh’s representation of Sunreef since last year marked the company’s entry into sailing and power catamarans including solar-electric Eco models, so this sponsorship echoed our growing commitment to the sailing community.

Edward Tan receives a Singapore Sailing Federation jacket

Edward Tan, Executive Director of Hong Seh Group, presented a cheque for SG$70,000 to the Singapore Sailing Federation in April. Asian Games gold medallists Cecilia Low and Kimberly Lim, who aim to defend their 49erFX title at the Hangzhou Asian Games, were among over 30 athletes, coaches, Executive Board members and senior management attending the cheque presentation.

The sponsorship will help cover costs for uniforms, technical and competition apparel

for the sailors, coaches and support staff. The Federation even presented Edward with an official Singapore Sailing jacket featuring the Hong Seh logo on the right sleeve.

DELLA PEARCE

Della Pearce (second left) and Hong Seh colleagues

Pearce is Director of both Hong Seh Yachting, which represents Ferretti Yachts, Riva and Pershing, and Hong Seh Marine, representing Sunreef, Boston Whaler, Schaefer and Zodiac, while the company’s services include yacht management, chartering, maintenance and brokerage. She entered the industry in 2005, mentored by Scott Walker of Asia Pacific Superyachts Singapore, and apprenticed at a marina, assisting with RYA sailing courses before graduating from Singapore Maritime Academy. From 2011, she worked for Simpson Marine in Singapore and Hainan before joining Hong Seh in 2016.

Benetti launches sixth hull of B.Now 50M

The Italian shipyard has splashed the sixth B.Now 50M, Alunya, which is also the second to feature the Oasis Deck® option.

Alunya, the sixth B.Now 50M

Benetti has launched Alunya, the sixth unit of the steel-hulled B.Now 50M Oasis Deck® and the second to feature the Oasis Deck®, following the launch of FB605 in March (click for article). Alunya’s delivery is scheduled for the end of July, with the owners set to immediately embark on their maiden voyage.

The Oasis Deck® option has hydraulic winged terraces port and starboard that extend the width of the deck to offer an impressive 90sqm beach club and outdoor living area. Owners and guests have unobstructed 270-degree views from the stern, and the beach club has a glass-walled infinity pool and multiple conversation areas.

Alunya belongs to an experienced owner, who personalised the superyacht to his taste. Brokerage company TWW Yachts introduced the buyer and acted as owner’s representative throughout the build process, working with Benetti to incorporate all the owner’s requests in the final project.

Sebastiano Fanizza, COO of Benetti, said: “The B.Now 50M is one of the most popular models in our history and the addition of the Oasis Deck® made it possible to offer new options to all owners who enjoy close contact with the sea. This new launch and the close collaboration with TWW confirm the commitment that the shipyard has to its customers and partners.”

Launch of Alunya

British studio RWD is responsible for the concept design and exterior styling of B.Now 50M, while Italian studio PierLuigi Ausonio Naval Architecture handled naval architecture. Benetti’s in-house HUB Design worked with the owners on the design and configuration of the interior of the 499GT superyacht, which has a beam of 8.9m (29ft) and an aluminium alloy superstructure.

B.Now 50M offers accommodation for either 10 or 12 guests, and Alunya’s owners opted for the former with a five-guest stateroom configuration. The owner’s suite is located forward on the main deck and includes a study area, large en-suite bathroom and private terrace. The four guest cabins are on the lower deck. Alunya has a further six cabins for 10 crew, including the captain.

Alunya also features plenty of space for tenders and toys including a tender up to 5.65m and jet-skis, which are cleverly concealed within the bow. The tender is deployed and retrieved through a hydraulically operated hatch starboard.

Equipped with twin 1,400hp MAN V12 engines and two Kohler 118 kW generators, the B.Now 50M has a 4,500nm range at 12 knots and a top speed of 15 knots, while Alunya is also fitted with a pair of electrical stabilisers.

This At-Home Cosmetic Laser Is the Secret To Perfect Skin

This At-Home Cosmetic Laser Is the Secret To Perfect Skin

Hailey Bieber, Gywneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson swear by it.

By LUXUO

Renowned dermatologists and skincare experts consider LYMA — the world’s first clinic-grade, FDA-approved cosmetic laser — a game-changer for its anti-ageing and skin-perfecting results. Engineered with medically-backed laser light therapy, this at-home handheld device totally transforms the health and appearance of the skin.

Loved by A-listers like Hailey Bieber, Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow, the LYMA Laser treats everything from fine lines and wrinkles to pigmentation, sun damage, redness, blemishes, scarring, and sagging skin, leaving it glowing with youthful radiance.

New York-based, A-list facialist Joanna Czech used LYMA on her celebrity clients for the 2023 Oscars and Met Gala and also considers it a secret weapon for perfect skin. “I like using LYMA in my facials because it tackles all major skin concerns and helps my clients achieve their skin goals,” she says. “There are billions of cells in the dermis which degenerate over time and the LYMA Laser reverses this process by repairing the cells. It reaches the deepest layers of the skin, including fat and muscle, which is why I recommend it for all my clients, no matter their age.”

To understand why LYMA is generating so much buzz in the skincare world, here’s a quick science lesson. Unlike traditional LED lasers — like the much-hyped Fraxel — LYMA uses laser light therapy (a technology borrowed from the medical industry) that has the ability to travel deep beyond the surface of the skin to repair damage at a cellular level while turbo-charging collagen production. It does this without inflicting any pain or damage and there’s zero downtime.

100 times more powerful than LED lasers, laser light technology works to trigger a genetic switch inside the skin cells telling them not to die off, but to recharge, regenerate and repair. This reverses any damage that ageing or environmental factors have caused to healthy skin cells and instructs the cells to produce more proteins, collagen, elastin, and fight free radicals. The result? Younger, plumper, smoother, healthier, and more radiant skin. Yes. Please.

The slimline handheld light laser device is also super easy to use. Working in three simple steps, all you have to do is first apply six pumps of the LYMA Oxygen Mist to the face or area of skin requiring treatment — it works on the face, neck, chest, knees, body, and thread veins. Next, apply six pumps of the hydrating LYMA Oxygen Glide and then hold the LYMA Laser over each section of skin you’re treating for three minutes every day

“It’s the breakthrough beauty product of the decade,” says Graeme Glass, PhD FRCS, who happens to be a top London plastic surgeon and pioneering cosmetic skin care doctor, so we’re inclined to take his word for it.

In addition to renowned skin experts and celebrities raving about the incredible anti-ageing skin-boosting results of LYMA, skin devotees also believe it’s a miracle worker.  Says one happy convert, “I am really loving the laser! I have been using it almost every day for a year and I have definitely noticed an improvement in my skin tone and texture, overall glowiness, and a reduction in hyperpigmentation.”

Another says it has wound back the clock. “I have been using the LYMA laser religiously and what a difference it makes! I am turning 50 and people have been complimenting me on how good my skin is.” You only need to look at these before and after photos to see that the results speak for themselves:

To try its complexion-perfecting powers and get a celebrity glow-up, shop the LYMA Laser Starter Kit here. The US$2,499 kit includes the LYMA Laser, accessories, a travel pouch, and a Membership card which gives you exclusive access to member-only pricing.

Immersion in Raja Ampat, Indonesia

Immersion in Raja Ampat, Indonesia

Following earlier festivals along the Amazon River and in the Sahara desert, the latest edition of Immersion was held in Raja Ampat, which provided a spectacular backdrop for an alluring cocktail of dancing and diving, meditation and music.

Isolated within the towering karsts of Raja Ampat, a commune of over 100 travellers have arrived by boat on Wayag Island. On this uninhabited and near-inaccessible atoll, the wayward wanderers are performing a cacao ceremony.

Participants are gathered in a circle, praying, singing and meditating while sipping on the natural elixir sanctified by the ancient Aztecs and Mayans. This esoteric exercise, taking part in an unspoiled corner of the globe, is part of a New Age festival known as Immersion.

It might seem like a scene straight out of Danny Boyle’s film The Beach, but rather than gathering a group of backpackers in Thailand, Immersion has attracted these luxury charter guests to West Papua in east Indonesia.

MORE THAN MUSIC

Three luxury phinisis, Prana (55m), Dancing Wind (45m) and Nala (37m), plus the liveaboards Seaisee (45m) and Raja Manta (36m), played host to the Immersion community as they journeyed through the sapphire seas of this remote corner of the world.

Nala was among five superyachts organised by Yacht Sourcing

Raja Ampat was the seventh Immersion gathering organised by Greg Habib, a French-Brazilian entrepreneur. Previous editions of the music and wellness event have taken place in adventurous regions including along the Amazon River, amid the dunes of the Sahara desert and on the salt flats of Bolivia.

And while there are always parties and performances, Immersion events are not simply a music festival. Habib calls them an invitation to “immerse yourself in a cultural universe”. They’re also a maritime festival, often tied to superyachts that serve as their primary mode of accommodation and transport.

Immersion, Raja Ampat, Indonesia, Greg Habib, Aztecs, Mayans, Danny Boyle, The Beach, phinisi, Prana, Dancing Wind, Nala, Seaisee, Raja Manta, Olivia Michel Photos: Nicolas de Panam

“As a festival that seeks to showcase epic locations off the beaten path, Immersion chose Raja Ampat this year for its spectacular natural beauty both on land and underwater,” Habib says.

“However, Immersion events are more than just gatherings in beautiful locations. Immersion is a global community that aims to bring people together to experience new cultures, nature, music, gastronomy, self-knowledge and friendship, and to give back to the local community.”

Immersion, Raja Ampat, Indonesia, Greg Habib, Aztecs, Mayans, Danny Boyle, The Beach, phinisi, Prana, Dancing Wind, Nala, Seaisee, Raja Manta, Olivia Michel Photos: Nicolas de Panam

The six-day programme included a give-back initiative, encouraging participants to volunteer in a local village. The group then continued sailing around the archipelago and indulging in a variety of activities to fully experience the stunning scenery.

Diving, snorkelling and feasting were complemented by holistic experiences such as cacao drinking ceremonies, sound healing rituals, primal movement sessions and massage therapies.

Immersion, Raja Ampat, Indonesia, Greg Habib, Aztecs, Mayans, Danny Boyle, The Beach, phinisi, Prana, Dancing Wind, Nala, Seaisee, Raja Manta, Olivia Michel Photos: Nicolas de Panam

Each day was followed by a hedonistic evening of dancing under the stars, be it on a beach or a boat, or in the water.

The guests represented over 40 different nationalities, with their ages ranging from six months to 73 years. Attendees were joined by a production crew, professional musicians and spiritual leaders, although Habib emphasises that there’s little distinction between guests and staff at Immersion events.

YACHT SOURCING

The phinisis were among the main attractions. Yacht Sourcing is the worldwide charter Central Agent for the gorgeous five-cabin Nala launched last year.

However, the company coordinated the logistics for all the hosting superyachts including the white-hulled, nine-cabin Prana, which the company built at its own shipyard in south Sulawesi and launched in 2018.

Together with the white-and-blue-hulled Dancing Wind, the presence of these wooden phinisis flying their sails added an aesthetic charm to the event and fulfilled Habib’s desire to immerse participants fully in the local culture and traditions.

While each vessel boasts luxurious spaces to unwind, from outdoor cinemas and alfresco cocktail bars to spa rooms and yoga decks, they were also equipped with full gear for diving and other water sports to help guests fully experience the destination.

Yacht Sourcing’s access to Indonesia’s finest superyachts and intimate knowledge of Raja Ampat’s cruising grounds made it “the ideal fleet partner for Immersion,” according to Habib.

“We needed a partner who could understand and accommodate our complex needs, and Yacht Sourcing went above and beyond in helping us create an unforgettable experience for all participants,” he says.

Immersion, Raja Ampat, Indonesia, Greg Habib, Aztecs, Mayans, Danny Boyle, The Beach, phinisi, Prana, Dancing Wind, Nala, Seaisee, Raja Manta, Olivia Michel Photos: Nicolas de Panam

“From negotiating and securing the perfect vessels, to assisting with logistics, menu planning and licensing requirements, Yacht Sourcing’s understanding of the remote location of Raja Ampat was critical in enabling us to make the event accessible to as many people as possible.”

By the end of the event, Habib received feedback from guests “describing the experience as the most beautiful trip of their lives”.

Immersion, Raja Ampat, Indonesia, Greg Habib, Aztecs, Mayans, Danny Boyle, The Beach, phinisi, Prana, Dancing Wind, Nala, Seaisee, Raja Manta, Olivia Michel Photos: Nicolas de Panam

The success of the festival, the support of the local Indonesian yachting community and the pristine beauty of the region have encouraged Habib to consider returning for another edition of the festival in the future.

“While Immersion is committed to exploring new locations, Raja Ampat is likely to be revisited due to its exceptional appeal,” says Habib. “It’s a destination that many people dream of visiting.”

Poland’s Sunreef Yachts is developing a hydrogen version of its 80 Eco sailing catamaran, which will also include solar power, hydrogeneration, lithium batteries and electric motors.

Sunreef Yachts is building the first Sunreef 80 Eco Hydrogen for owners seeking to use it for “long cruises and exploring new cruising grounds”.

The sailing catamaran will combine high-tech hydrogen fuel cell (75kW), a hydrogeneration system, custom battery bank (440kWh), two 120kW electric motors and the builder’s unique solar skin (32kWp), already seen on the first two units of the 80 Eco and first 60 Eco.

“The yacht will be used for private cruises and exploration. She will often sail into less sunny areas of the world, which is why it was important for the owners to rely on hydrogen,” said Nicolas Lapp, Sunreef’s Chief Technical Officer and son of company founder Francis Lapp.

“The owner wanted an autonomous craft that won’t use any fuel. The idea is to be able to go far and rely on clean energy, even when there’s not enough sunlight to generate solar power. Hydrogen yachts are a very exciting and promising sector.”

The Sunreef 80 Eco Hydrogen will have six carbon tanks offering 55kg of compressed hydrogen (350bar), which will also be used to power both the appliances and the catamaran’s engines. Sunreef is developing a system to produce hydrogen from sea water, using solar power and hydro-generation.

The yacht is based on the hull and superstructure of the Sunreef 80, the most popular of the builder’s current range of sailing catamarans, which also include 50, 60 and 70 models. The 78ft 4in yacht has a beam of 37ft 10in, while the rig includes a 200sqm mainsail and 155sqm genoa.

“The Sunreef 80 is one of our bestsellers. One of the reasons for this is the amount of space she provides. Her beam translates into massive relaxation space on the flybridge, main deck and aft cockpit. At the same time, she offers a lot of room and flexibility within the hulls. There will also be one very important factor contributing to comfort – she will cruise in total silence.”

Francis Lapp, founder and CEO of Sunreef, added: “Our philosophy goes far beyond boat building. We craft experiences. Before we design a tangible object, we always take the time to think about the aura we want to create.

“The Sunreef 80 Eco Hydrogen delivers a message of respect and responsibility. She is the synonym of comfort and silence. At the same time, this yacht uses the latest technology, so she appeals to all those who like to look into the future.”

Sunreef’s current builds include the 43M Eco (click for article) and 100 Eco.

IYC has announced that it has simultaneously sold three units of the new Admiral GC-Force 70 to a European family. The deliveries of the 70m superyachts are scheduled for 2026, 2027 and 2028.

Michel Chryssicopoulos, IYC’s Global Managing Partner, will be supervising the build processes of the three projects, which represent the latest chapter in the company’s relationship with The Italian Sea Group, which also includes Tecnomar, NCA Refit, Perini Navi and Picchiotti.

This incredible deal brings The Italian Sea Group and IYC even closer together, solidifying a relationship that started 12 years ago,” Chryssicopoulos said. “We have absolute faith in the vision and goals set by [founder and CEO] Giovanni Costantino and The Italian Sea Group team. Together, we’re looking forward to these successful deliveries.”

The Admiral GC-Force 70 was developed by The Italian Sea Group’s in-house Centro Stile (Style Centre). Each yacht has seven guest cabins and 10 crew cabins, and is characterised by elegant lines, expansive deck spaces and extensive use of glass.

Raphael Sauleau, CEO of IYC, said: “Our partnership with The Italian Sea Group is incredibly successful, demonstrating just how exceptional their service and products truly are. These recent sales speak to the quality of their yachts and are a testament to the dedication and hard work of their team. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship and to our future endeavours together.”

The triple-order transaction increases IYC’s current builds with TISG to seven superyachts, which include two 72m projects in collaboration with Giorgio Armani.

Filippo Menchelli, Chairman of The Italian Sea Group, said: “The first sales of the Admiral GC-Force fleet represent a significant milestone, which we were able to reach thanks to the professionalism of our team and the high-quality profile of our yachts. It demonstrates the trust owners from across the globe have in our organisation.”

Giovanni Costantino, founder and CEO of The Italian Sea Group, said: This important transaction, finalised in Europe, confirms the validity of our development journey in the megayacht market and The Italian Sea Group’s positioning as a global reference in this segment.”

iAqua launches Lithium Safety Store™

iAqua launches Lithium Safety Store™

A world leader in sea scooters, iAqua has now introduced the world’s first lithium battery fire and fuel safety storage box, with four independent early warning signals.

iAqua, Lithium Safety Store™, lithium fires, fuel fires, explosions, flammable liquids, lithium, battery, Kevlar, UL 94VO, fibreglass, carbon-fibre, Seabob

IAqua has released its patented Lithium Safety Store™, which has been designed to contain lithium fires, fuel fires and explosions. It can also reduce insurance premiums and prevent claim denial for improperly stored flammable liquids or lithium battery-related incidents.

Designed to store all a yacht’s lithium battery products, the iAqua Lithium Safety Store™ prevents fires caused by the thermal runaway associated with damaged, degraded, old or poorly designed and manufactured lithium batteries.

Lithium Safety Store™ is constructed with an inch-thick wall to contain all uncontrolled fires and heat, while the inner lining is made of a thick shell of Kevlar designed to withstand over 1,000°F for lithium fire, fuel fire and explosion protection.

Kevlar is lightweight yet five times stronger than steel, so ideal for containing gas or flammable liquid explosions. Due to its strength, lightness, heat-protection properties and low thermal conductivity, it’s the leading material used for bulletproof vests and fire-protection equipment, such as fire-fighter suits and gloves.

iAqua, Lithium Safety Store™, lithium fires, fuel fires, explosions, flammable liquids, lithium, battery, Kevlar, UL 94VO, fibreglass, carbon-fibre, Seabob

A core of specially formulated UL 94VO-rated insulation prevents heat reaching the outside casing. UL 94VO is the highest-rated level of flame resistance and means the material will self-extinguish in less than 10 seconds once the flame is extinguished, with no dripping of flaming particles.

The outside casing is made of weatherproof, high-gloss fibreglass or carbon-fibre, a lightweight option for the largest of three models.

Fitted with side handles and twin wheels, the Lithium Safety Store™ can be safely handled with normal protective gloves – even while an internal reaction/fire is underway – due to its ambient outer temperature design. This allows the unit to be moved to another area or even discarded overboard in case of emergency. The box is also equipped with ventilation ports to prevent gas entrapment.

The Lithium Safety Store™ has four non-slip rubber mounting feet and boxes are stackable. There are four lifting points moulded into the base, while the two side handles can also be used for lifting and as tie-down points. Heavy-duty marine 316 grade stainless-steel hinges and locks keeps contents secure.

iAqua, Lithium Safety Store™, lithium fires, fuel fires, explosions, flammable liquids, lithium, battery, Kevlar, UL 94VO, fibreglass, carbon-fibre, Seabob

It also features four independent early warnings, with the first remote signal provided by an in-built temperature sensor wirelessly connected to a phone. This unique feature can alert up to 10 people to any fire even if they’re not onboard.

By adding a SIM card as a back-up for the Wi-Fi, the Safety Store will send a text message as a second remote early warning, again to as many as 10 people. Thirdly, a 100-decibel fire/smoke detector provides a local audible alarm, while fourthly, a temperature-activated flashing red light provides a local visual alarm, which is helpful if boxes are stacked.

The Lithium Safety Store™ is available in three sizes and fits all iAqua and Seabob sea scooters plus drones, toys, power tools, larger e-foil/e-board removable batteries, flares, gas canisters, gas bottles, flammable liquids and fuel cans.

The LF18 model, measuring 40cm x 30cm x 25cm, has an internal capacity of 18 litres and weighs 5kg, while the larger models are the LF120 (65cm x 50cm x 50cm) weighing 15kg and the LF335 (1.3m x 56cm x 57.5cm) weighing 42kg.

A lightweight, carbon-fibre version of the 335-litre-capacity LF335 weighs 30kg. High-gloss light grey, navy blue and beige colours are available by special order.

Leading the pack is Lamborghini with 46.1 per cent which amounted to €260 million and it is the best one yet.

The luxury sector is resilient. In the first quarter of 2023, major players in the field like LVHM, Hermès and Kering have beaten analysts’ expectations and achieved significant growth. In particular, LVMH, the parent owner of Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Tiffany & Co., is now Europe’s most valuable company at US$500 billion. What this means is that despite mounting inflationary pressures and economic uncertainty, the demand for luxury goods still remains high.

Extending beyond personal luxury goods like fashion, beauty and accessories, the sector for luxury cars is also seeing positive growth. Car makers like Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche and Ferrari have posted double-digit growth for their respective first quarters. Leading the pack is Lamborghini with 46.1 per cent which amounted to €260 million. The Italian marque also mentioned that this was its best first-quarter result ever.

Stephan Winkelmann, the Chairman and CEO of Lamborghini said: “2023 will go down in Lamborghini as a landmark period in our history, and starting off our anniversary year with these figures can only make us proud. These results will allow us to tackle the upcoming challenges with increased enthusiasm. These include the start of the second stage of the “Direzione Cor Tauri” program, the most important investment plan in the company’s history, which will help Lamborghini to grow and develop even further.”

Bentley Batur

At British marque Bentley, its operation profit grew by 27 per cent to €216 million year-on-year while its revenue increased by 9 per cent to €882 million. The company said that “much of this was due to continued strong interest in model customisation, higher specification derivatives and higher option uptake, including the sales of unique Mulliner Coachbuilt and Limited Edition models.”

Porsche Macan S

While for German marker Porsche, it has been a great start so far as the company recorded a 25.5 per cent increase in revenue over the same quarter last year to €10.10 billion while the operating profit surged by 25.4 per cent to €1.84 billion. Among the different models, the SUVs are the most popular model with the Macan taking the lead at 23,880 units delivered to customers.

Ferrari Purosangue

For Ferrari, the company’s core earnings rose by 27 per cent to €1.42 billion when compared to the same period last year. As for the Prancing Horse’s operating profit, it is €385 million — a 25.3 per cent increase. The Italian luxury sportscar maker said it was reopening orders for the Purosangue, which had been suspended due to initial “unprecedented” demand. As one of the top models from the brand, Ferrari further shared that its order book filled up to the end of 2025 and those who had placed their order will have to wait until 2026 for it to be delivered.

With such a stellar first quarter, the financial performances of these luxury car brands show that the once perfect correlation between the stock market and luxury spending has been debunked. This is likely because the rich hold a more diverse portfolio and are less susceptible to market headwinds.
