Having celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2023, CRN is preparing to launch four superyachts ranging from 67-86m in the next three years.

The 67m Project Maranello at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard

CRN expects to launch the 67m Project Maranello in the first half of 2025, with the hybrid superyacht the first of four large superyachts expected in the water in the coming three years. The yacht, known internally as M/Y 143, features exterior and interior design by Venice-based Nuvolari Lenard and naval architecture by CRN Engineering.

The hull and superstructure arrived at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona on Italy’s east coast last year, since when CRN teams have focused on carpentry, fitting out, machinery, systems, equipment and hull priming and painting. Moran Yacht & Ship is the owner’s representative and project manager.

Project Maranello features exterior and interior design by Nuvolari Lenard

Built for an owner concerned about safeguarding the environment, Project Maranello will feature a hybrid-propulsion system for enhanced energy efficiency and significantly improved fuel economy. The megayacht features accommodation for up to 14 guests and 17 crew.

CRN’s other projects include the 86m M/Y 144, which is the brand’s biggest build to date and is expected to launch in 2026. The yacht features exteriors designed in collaboration with Italy’s Vallicelli Design and naval architecture by CRN Engineering.

The 70m Project Thunderball at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard

In 2027, CRN is scheduled to stage two launches including the 70m Project Thunderball (M/Y 145), whose hull and superstructure arrived in Ancona earlier this year. Ongoing work includes carpentry, the fitting-out and installation of machinery, systems, equipment and furniture, as well as priming and painting of the hull. Y.Co is the project manager and owner’s representative.

Italy’s Nauta Design handled the interior design and outdoor furniture, while Dutch studio Vripack designed Project Thunderball’s external lines and developed the naval architecture in collaboration with CRN Engineering. Technology features a Peak Shaving System, an energy-saving solution that keeps the electricity curve as flat as possible.

The 67m M/Y 146 is Nuvolari Lenard’s 10th design for CRN

CRN also expects to launch the 67m M/Y 146 in 2027, three years after signing the project earlier this year with Moran Yacht & Ship, which also sold and represents Project Maranello. The yacht marks the 10th CRN yacht designed by Nuvolari Lenard, which handled both exteriors and interiors, while CRN Engineering developed the naval architecture.

Technology includes hybrid propulsion and a heat-recovery system that reduces fuel consumption by using the thermal energy from the generators to heat the water in the pools, water boilers and deck-washing system. Standout features include a touch-and-go helipad on the upper deck, a dive centre and an extensive beach club with water toys.

The executive offices opened in December 2023

The CRN facilities also constructs metal yachts by other Ferretti Group brands, with current projects including several all-aluminium builds: hull five of the Pershing 140, the second Custom Line 50 and the first two hulls of the Riva 54Metri.

The Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard is also home to Custom Line’s composite range, with typically about 25 of the brand’s superyachts simultaneously under construction in the sheds or at the finishing and testing stages on the docks before delivery.

The new building houses offices, meeting rooms and hospitality areas

The Ancona site also features new executive offices and hospitality areas, which opened in December 2023. Offering about 4,200sqm of floor area across three levels, the new building houses over 150 employees and features a majestic glass entrance leading to a custom steel staircase that connects all the floors and is finished in marble.

Warm tones of cognac are used for common areas like the entrance, lobby and stairs, while shades of air force blue are used in the offices and meeting rooms.

The annual Beneteau Cup Hong Kong started a new chapter this year, with the event now run by Asiamarine, the brand’s new local sailboat dealer.

With Beneteau celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2024, the French brand’s annual Hong Kong sailing event changed hands as the event was organised for the first time by Asiamarine.

Founded in 2021 and held each autumn, the Beneteau Cup Hong Kong adopted a new rally format this November under the new organisers, with the dealership hosting the event in collaboration with Beneteau’s Asia-Pacific office.

The fourth edition welcomed 14 Beneteau sailboats ranging from 26-51ft and “over 100 enthusiastic sailors, uniting seasoned professionals, enthusiasts and sailor families,” according to Asiamarine, which was announced as the Beneteau sailboat dealer for Hong Kong in March.

The day began with a rally departing from Repulse Bay. With wind ranging from 4-7 knots on the day, participants navigated a scenic course to Cape D’Aguilar and Castle Rock, then back, completing the rally within a four-hour timeframe.

VIP guests followed the course of the rally aboard the official spectator boat, a beautiful Lagoon 560, sponsored by its owner and now for sale with Asiamarine. The celebrations continued with a prizegiving ceremony and afterparty at Aberdeen Boat Club’s Middle Island clubhouse.

Erwan Her, Beneteau’s Asia-Pacific Sales Director, attended the event and highlighted the significance of the fourth Beneteau Cup Hong Kong during his speech at the closing ceremony.

“This year’s Beneteau Cup was a unique one as we celebrate Beneteau’s 140th anniversary, blending the brand’s legacy of craftsmanship with the shared passion for the sea,” Her said. “Congratulations to all the participants and to the Asiamarine team for making this such a memorable occasion.”

Asiamarine impressed participants as the dealership successfully took over organisation of the event. Alexandre Tricot, Brand Manager of Beneteau and Lagoon at Asiamarine, was a key part of the organising team, having previously won the Beneteau Cup Hong Kong as a participant.

“Sailing has always been a personal passion of mine, which is why this event holds such special meaning,” Tricot said.

“It’s an honour for Asiamarine to organise this, bringing together the sailing community in Hong Kong. We’re thrilled to expand this community even further next year, not just increasing the sale of Beneteau sailboats across Hong Kong and Singapore but having more people fall in love with the sport.

The Beneteau Cup Hong Kong also raised over HK$11,000 for the Heep Hong Society, a local charity supporting children and youth with diverse needs.

Beneteau Cup, Hong Kong, Asiamarine, Alexander Tricot, Erwan Her

The event’s sponsors included LQV, Clean Max, Optical 88, Vines & Terroirs, Ullman Sails, Taittinger, Only Beverage, Mystic Island, Mazu, Corona, Determinant, Franck Muller, Pedro and Bain Marie.

“Asiamarine extends its gratitude to all participants, sponsors and partners for making the Beneteau Cup a spectacular success,” the dealership stated. “With the overwhelming support received, the Beneteau Cup is set to become a flagship annual event in the Hong Kong sailing calendar.”

Headquartered in Hong Kong with offices in Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore, Asiamarine specialises in sales of new and pre-owned yachts, yacht management in Asia-Pacific, and charters across the world, also specialising in superyachts as Fraser Asia.

Van der Valk’s Dutch courage

From humble small-boat production in the Netherlands conceived by founder Wim van der Valk to this year’s management buyout when he stepped down, the Van der Valk shipyard, now known for its customised hulls, builds on the bravery at its core.

With the August 2024 announcement by Van der Valk shipyard that it was embarking on the new 35m tailor-made yacht Jangada – the third hull of the same name for the same St Tropez-based owner – there is no doubt that both craftsmanship and design have loyal patronage. Custom designs are the lifeblood of the Dutch yard, and a jet-stream pool on the aft flybridge is among feature requests for the latest Jangada.

The following month, during this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, the newly launched 34m One was awarded the accolade of Most Achieved Yacht at the 2024 World Yachts Trophies.

Situated an hour south of Amsterdam in Waalwijk, in the south-central province of North Brabant, the Van der Valk facility has an office and seven state-of-the-art production halls.

Van der Valk is one of a handful of yards in the world with the capacity and flexibility to build fully bespoke superyachts between 25 and 45m in length above the waterline. Its reputation for yachts of premium quality has been honed over more than five decades of evolution that began with humble vessel builds and led to the offering of custom production over a decade ago, dealing with clients directly or through their representatives.

Launched in May 2024, the 34m One went on to win an award during the Cannes Yachting Festival

Van der Valk applies cutting-edge solutions, systems and materials to meet a client’s budget, and shipyard staff are encouraged to follow training courses and research new possibilities and applications. This ensures that their technical and client-service know-how is up to date. Today, its yard builds high-quality aluminium hulls in-house and takes care of all outfitting and finishing.

THE HISTORY

The shipyard founder, a passionate yachtsman and watersport enthusiast, Wim van der Valk launched the eponymous company in 1967. Over more than half a century, with the reputation for quality builds emerging across five model lines in the 1970s, Van der Valk progressed with a range of striking steel and aluminium motoryachts, attaining popularity and respect from other Dutch shipyards.

Founder Wim van der Valk retired in early 2024 but still serves as President Emeritus

In the mid-1980s, it launched the Vitesse series – steel and aluminium semi-displacement motoryachts for the high-end segment, which commanded high resale value.

Embracing new design, tech and materials is part of the yard’s signature modus operandi. The 2015 launch of the 37m Santa Maria T, the world’s first motoryacht to feature a two-axis fin antiroll damping system, was a great example of its forward-thinking philosophy.

Van der Valk was also one of the first yards to acknowledge the potential of the revolutionary Volvo Penta IPS propulsion when it was introduced, developing a special hull and new models for this drive system.

Following its series in the 2010s, with the Raised Pilothouse, Flybridge, Explorer and BeachClub lines, as more owner additions and specifications became part of the sales pattern, semi-custom lines were offered, which then evolved into today’s fully-custom build options. Alternatively, customisation of the general finish and interiors of some existing current models – the Edge 65 and models of the BeachClub line – are also available.

On April 18, 2024, a management buyout of the founder’s shares in Van der Valk shipyard took place, financially supported by a collective of experienced yacht owners who previously commissioned three custom superyachts from the yard: the 27.5m Leven, a customised 19.6m Edge 65 and the 34m Lady Lene.

Today, Van der Valk appeals to clients around the world who are looking to build a luxury yacht up to 45m in length. The yard’s fully-custom options allow the creation of an entirely bespoke superstructure and interior, with a selection of propulsion types, swim platforms, balconies and bars, among other features.

Van der Valk partners with top Dutch naval architecture and design talent in the premium yacht and superyacht studios, including Guido de Groot, Carla Guilhem, Ginton Naval Architects, Cor D Rover, Diana Yacht Design and Van Oossanen. Clients are also welcome to bring their own designers into the tailor-made motoryacht creation process.

THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT

With a full order book stretching well into 2027, including the largest superyacht build to date – the 40m Project Evo – confidence in the future appears positive. Totalling more than 9,000sqm of state-of the-art facilities, the yard opened its seventh construction hall in November 2023.

Enrico Theuns, Bram Kooltjes and Yoeri Bijker took over the shipyard’s management in April 2024

The management team of Enrico Theuns, Bram Kooltjes and Yoeri Bijker draw on decades of combined experience in the high-end yachting industry and continue to enjoy the ongoing support of President Emeritus Wim van der Valk as an advisor to the board.

“The significant capital investment will enable Van der Valk to continue growing our unique niche in the market for bespoke yachts between 25 and 45m,” commented Yoeri Bijker, Head of Sales, at the time of the acquisition.

Van der Valk’s facilities cover over 9,000sqm

“The new primary shareholders fully understand our yard’s ethos having built several award-winning yachts with us and are committed to ensuring Van der Valk retains its Dutch structure, heritage and quality. We have a solid financial future as an independent entity with various options available for further expansion. Wim’s unrivalled legacy could not be in safer hands.”

BREAKDOWN OF CURRENT SHIPYARD FACILITIES

Three assembly halls include a state-of-the-art one opened in 2017 that measures 42m x 36m, with a height of 16m, enabling builds of motoryachts up to 40m in length with up to three decks.

The second hall covers 42.5m x 25.6m and, as well as building boats between 20-40m, contains a standalone carpentry factory and is used for exterior painting of yachts above 25m.

Hall three measures 35.5m x 36.4m and is dedicated to the construction and outfitting of yachts ranging from 15-25m. A new facility, hall seven, is 50m x 50m. Yachts below 25m are painted in Van der Valk’s exterior painting facility, which measures 30.5m by 22.7m and houses the paint coordination office.

Launched in 2023, the 34m D Rolli was delivered in 2024

There is also a 17.2m x 13.4m interior spray painting hall, used for smaller exterior elements and non-fixed interior components, including varnishing and veneering as well as complete repainting.

Van der Valk’s premises include a paved open area of 7,000sqm and there is access to the river via 120m of dock, which includes a crane with a capacity of 30 tonnes. The warehouse is the main location where parts are delivered.

Van der Valk practices ‘just-in-time delivery’, which means that the necessary components arrive when they are effectively needed. Just-in-time delivery eliminates excess inventory and minimises stock-related overhead costs. The warehouse is 35.5m x 15.6m. With such facilities and an expanding order book in the past few years, the evolution of this shipyard appears to be in good shape.

“The Van der Valk owner today is international. We have clients from Asia – Hong Kong and Japan – but also North America and South America, and from the EU. In the past we often worked directly with the clients. These days it’s often with owners’ representatives, family offices and law firms,” Bijker explained.

Designed by Guido de Groot, the 34m Blue Jeans now resides in Hong Kong

“Projects have become larger and all the requests more complex. We adapted to this over the years, and today we have everything in line and all the specialists in house to serve our high-demanding UHNWI clientele.”

Hull infusion on the Sunreef 43M Eco

Sunreef Yachts has announced the successful completion of the 43M Eco’s composite hull infusion process (click for video), which it described as “the biggest single-shot hull infusion project in yachting history”.

Francis Lapp, Sunreef’s founder and President, said: “We achieved an important milestone on our journey to build a truly groundbreaking yacht. The scale of the hull-infusion project is unique in the industry, and underscores our pioneering role in shaping the future of energy-efficient yachting.”

Francis Lapp founded Sunreef in Poland in 2002

Under construction at the builder’s main shipyard in Gdansk on Poland’s north coast, the Sunreef 43M Eco is set to become the world’s largest electric catamaran. The biggest model to date in the builder’s Eco series, the 43m-long hull has a 15.4m beam and 1,700sqm of composite surface area.

The yacht’s innovative design features a custom-engineered foam core that reduces weight while improving performance. Infusion produces a stronger, lighter hull due to more even distribution of resin, which is sucked into the fibreglass and coring using vacuum pressure. The unmoulding of the hull is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.

Designed to accommodate up to 12 guests, the hull will incorporate over 120sqm of integrated solar panels, almost half of the total of 250sqm across the entire yacht.

The advanced solar technology and electric propulsion are among the superyacht’s emission-free, energy-saving features, with Sunreef stating that the 43M Eco “will redefine the superyacht experience, making it cleaner, more responsible, and energy-efficient”.

Following the GTX116 and GTX80, the Ferretti Group brand is adding a third model to its Sport Utility Yacht series.

Pershing has revealed details and designs of the GTX70, the third and most compact model in its Sport Utility Yacht range. The series kicked off with the launch of the GTX116 in 2023 and was followed by the GTX80, which had its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.

Equipped with three 900mhp Volvo Penta D13-IPS1200 engines, the GTX70 is expected to have a top speed of 35 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots.

Pershing, GTX70, GTX, Cannes Yachting Festival, Vallicelli Design, Ferretti Group, Piero Ferrari, Sport Utility Yacht

The CE Class A yacht is a design collaboration between Vallicelli Design, the Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee led by Piero Ferrari and its Engineering Department, with the hull built at the Ferretti Group Plug and Mould facility. Pershing believes the yacht has 30 per cent more exterior areas and 10 per cent more interior spaces for guests compared with other models of the same size.

The exterior design echoes the styling of the larger models in Pershing’s Gran Turismo line and includes a sleek, arch-shaped deckhouse. A vertical bow and its connection with the keel line “give the boat’s silhouette an unprecedented lightness and elegance reminiscent of sporty sailing boats”, according to Pershing.

Pershing, GTX70, GTX, Cannes Yachting Festival, Vallicelli Design, Ferretti Group, Piero Ferrari, Sport Utility Yacht

The slightly convex sheer line runs from bow to stern and joins with the aft bulwarks, which can fold out to provide two lateral terraces and create a 23sqm beach club. The waterside area includes an integrated, aft-facing sofa or sunpad and a high-low swim platform. The foredeck has a large sunbathing area, while moveable cushions can unveil a table when needed.

The sportsbridge offers 16sqm of space and contains a triple-seat helm station, wet bar, an L-shaped sofa around a dining table, and a large sunpad aft. Shade can be provided by an electrically operated bimini top with a prepreg carbon structure.

Pershing, GTX70, GTX, Cannes Yachting Festival, Vallicelli Design, Ferretti Group, Piero Ferrari, Sport Utility Yacht

Three steps up from the beach club, the covered aft cockpit has a three-sided sofa, while the aft galley has an up-down pocket window that can be lowered to link the outdoor area with the interior. The saloon has two inverted L-shaped sofas facing each other.

The lower deck includes three en-suite guest cabins “designed with input from a study that mapped the volumes and identified innovative solutions for maximum space optimisation”, Pershing stated. The study also led to the creation of a laundry room that can be entered from the hall.

Pershing, GTX70, GTX, Cannes Yachting Festival, Vallicelli Design, Ferretti Group, Piero Ferrari, Sport Utility Yacht

“This new Pershing is the result of a unique design effort to take full advantage of the available surface areas and add value to the exterior spaces, offering even more contact with the water,” Pershing stated.

“The transitions between exterior and interior are even more fluid, increasing liveability and creating a continuous open space, above all on the main deck. Every space on board Pershing GTX70 is designed for maximum comfort, bringing volumes together in a way that creates an experience of incredible comfort.”

Tanguy Tertrais, Asia-Pacific Sales Director for Prestige, said: “Multihull motoryachts have proven to be a popular choice in the Asian market, and our sales record with the Prestige M48 is testament to this. They offer more generous space compared to monohulls of the same length, as well as more privacy on board.

Asiamarine has declared the Lagoon 51 sailing catamaran as “officially the largest boat you can operate with a Pleasure Vessel Operator Grade 2 Certificate in Hong Kong”. The yacht’s new categorisation follows Lagoon’s new option to reduce the extension at the aft end of the boat, so bringing the yacht’s length to just under 15m (50ft), satisfying Grade 2 criteria.

“This exciting development simplifies the process for sailing enthusiasts, allowing for easier self-operation or the recruitment of a crew,” Asiamarine stated. Grade 2 is the entry-level Pleasure Vessel Operator Certificate (PVOC) available from Hong Kong’s Marine Department.

Alexandre Tricot, Lagoon Brand Manager at Asiamarine, said: “This is a game-changer for sailors in Hong Kong. When you buy a yacht with a Grade 2 licence, you want to make the most out of your licence, and this boat is the best you can get.

“The Lagoon 51 not only offers comfort and style but also opens up new possibilities for exploration on the water. We are glad to provide our customers with this exceptional opportunity.”

The Lagoon 51 (click for Review) debuted in 2022 and spearheaded the French builder’s new era of sustainability, with the model offering the option of integrated solar panels on the coachroof and flybridge hard top. The fully developed flybridge is among many developments upon the Lagoon 50, which the 51 succeeded.

The Lagoon 51 offers over 1,000sqft of living space and one layout with a huge owner’s suite occupying the starboard hull and featuring a large, walk-in closet, along with a further three guest cabins in the port hull. The Lagoon 51 is also available in a more symmetrical four-cabin, four-head layout or even with six cabins.

A Lagoon 51 is available for a viewing in Hong Kong through Asiamarine, which has represented the world’s leading pleasure catamaran builder since earlier this year. Headquartered in Hong Kong, Asiamarine also has offices in Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore, and covers new and pre-owned yacht sales, charter and yacht management, as well as superyachts as Fraser Asia.

The builder continues to splash a wide range of planing and displacement models at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Italy.

Custom Line hosted its 15th launch of the year in October, as the 23rd hull of the Custom Line 106’ planing model hit the water at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, on Italy’s east coast. The yacht is part of Custom Line’s planing series, which also includes the 120’, 125’ (project) and 140’.

Featuring an overall length of 32.8m and a 7.4m beam, the Custom Line 106’ is a design collaboration between the Ferretti Group Engineering Department for the exterior styling and Custom Line Atelier for the interior design. Furnishings in the 23rd hull include materials such as Travertino bronze and Silk Georgette marbles – used extensively in the owner’s area – and American walnut.

In late September, the shipyard launched the fifth hull of the Custom Line 140’, the planing-range flagship that had its world premiere at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival and quickly secured a sale to Asia.

The Custom Line 140’ is a design collaboration between Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee for the exterior styling and the Group’s Engineering Department for the interior design, supported by Custom Line Atelier, which works directly with the owner, project management and production teams, and craftsmen.

Materials on the new yacht include natural teak, leather and eco-leather, while Invisible Grey, polished Azul Cielo and vibrant Blue marbles feature in the bathroom areas. The combination of pale and muted colours, tending to grey and butter, is set off by the petrol and sapphire shades of the bed headboards and freestanding elements, according to Ferretti Group.

Custom Line’s two previous launches were the 32nd hull of the Navetta 33 in August and the 21st  Navetta 30 in early September.

The Navetta 33 launch was held with the owner’s family in attendance, along with shipyard employees and outside contractors who worked on the yacht. The 33m yacht with a 7.5m beam is another design collaboration between Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee and Engineering Department, with Custom Line Atelier helping personalise the interior.

The Navetta 33 owner asked for a special focus on the design of the social areas, so the spacious indoor and outdoor areas are furnished with large, custom-designed dining and coffee tables that open and extend to accommodate up to 10 guests. Furnishings and panelling materials include fine Taj Mahal and Essential Grey marble, wood varieties such as Canadian maple, and leather.

The Navetta 30 is a design collaboration between Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Department and Engineering Department, exterior styling by Filippo Salvetti, interior architecture by ACPV (Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel) and Custom Line Atelier consulting on interior design.

Featuring a length of 28.43m and a beam of 7.3m, the Navetta 30 debuted at the 2020 Cannes Yachting Festival, with the first hull sold to Asia, followed by several more sales to the region. Custom Line’s Navetta series comprises the 30, 33, 38 and 42 models.

Numarine journeys to the east with Camper & Nicholsons

SHARE

In Türkiye – the world’s second-largest superyacht producer – Numarine looks eastward in a new partnership with Camper & Nicholsons that’s set to turn the heads of potential explorer-yacht owners in the Asia-Pacific.
Words: Charlie Harris; Photos: Camper & Nicholsons / Numarine

The popular Numarine 37XP has a striking steel-hull profile and six guest cabins

Camper & Nicholsons, the renowned global yacht brokerage, charter and services company headquartered in Monaco, and Numarine, the Turkish builder of luxury explorer yachts, announced in September that Camper & Nicholsons will exclusively represent the shipyard in the Asia-Pacific region with immediate effect. The first seeds of this collaboration were planted during Monaco Yacht Show 2023.

Bengü Özdoğan, Numarine’s Sales and Marketing Director, explained to Yacht Style: “The partnership between Numarine and Camper & Nicholsons for Asia-Pacific marks a significant development, reflecting both companies’ recognition of the region’s growing potential in the luxury yachting market.

“This collaboration aims to enhance the strength of Numarine yachts in this emerging market. We are certain that Numarine’s innovative yacht designs and growing reputation, coupled with Camper & Nicholsons’ established relationships and local expertise, will be very successful in navigating the diverse and complex markets within the Asia-Pacific.

Bengü Özdoğan, Numarine’s Sales and Marketing Director

“Camper & Nicholsons is one of the most respected names in the yachting industry, with credibility and trust built over centuries. This gave us the confidence that our yachts would be represented with the highest standards of professionalism and expertise.

“It is also a great value for us that Camper & Nicholsons’ extensive global network is particularly strong in the high-growth markets of the Asia-Pacific. Camper & Nicholsons’ deep understanding of these markets and their established relationships with potential buyers were critical in Numarine’s decision.”

NEW MODELS ADD TO THE ALLURE

Numarine has plenty of potential appeal as a superyacht producer in the Asia-Pacific, according to Camper & Nicholsons, prompting the global brokerage house’s own enthusiasm for the partnership.

Julien Solari, Camper & Nicholsons’ Chief Commercial Officer Asia, said: “Interest in Numarine yachts among Asian owners has surged, reflecting a growing appreciation for the brand’s unique offerings.

Julien Solari, Camper & NicholsonsChief Commercial Officer Asia

“The 2024 Global Order Book Türkiye’s rise as the second-largest superyacht-building nation, surpassing the Netherlands. This achievement underscores the exceptional quality of Turkish-built yachts and the trust owners place in Turkish shipyards, with Numarine emerging as the leading brand in the 24-45m segment.”

Beyond these reputations, the Asia-Pacific’s seascape lends promise. “Its vast, breathtaking coastlines are a haven for exploration,” Solari said. “After experiencing traditional planing-hull yachts, many Asian yacht owners are now drawn to vessels offering greater range to uncover these less charted waters.

“The challenge lies in balancing the desire for extended voyages with the region’s limited marina accommodation, which often necessitate yachts under 50m. Numarine meets this need perfectly, offering range, reliability and comfort at sea.

The 37XP’s upper helm station

“Moreover, in cities like Singapore and Hong Kong, where socialising on board is a cherished tradition, Asian owners value yachts with ample space for entertaining. The spacious upper deck and flybridge of Numarine’s larger XP models provide ideal spaces for such gatherings.”

Solari added that with this strategic alliance, Camper & Nicholsons intends to leverage its extensive market presence and expertise in the Asia-Pacific region to exclusively promote and sell “Numarine’s exceptional yachts”.

At this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, Numarine showed its flagship 37XP and debuted its 30XP, the shipyard’s first model to feature diesel-electric propulsion.

On the 37XP, outdoor lounging sofas and armchairs are generously proportioned

“We were thrilled to introduce the new, highly-anticipated 30XP – with its significantly expanded exterior areas, clever aft arrangement and nifty side garage – at the Cannes Yachting Festival, alongside the yard’s current flagship, the 37XP. Many clients from the Asia-Pacific have expressed interest in the XP range.”

PARTNERSHIP BUILT ON PAST PROJECTS TOGETHER

The relationship between Camper & Nicholsons and Numarine spans a number of years, but it is in recent months that this collaboration was formalised. With the Turkish yard achieving great success in the US and European markets over the past few years, both sides were keen to take the discussions forward when the opportunity arose for the Asia Pacific-market collaboration.

The 37XP offers a warm palette and luxurious textures in its lounge and dining areas

According to Camper & Nicholsons management and brokers, the XP explorer superyachts are proving Numarine’s most enticing models for Asian owners.

“The 32XP and 37XP have proven to be highly successful steel-hull ‘pocket explorers’, achieving remarkable success in Europe and even greater acclaim in the US,” Solari explained. “Notably, most of these buyers were not first-time purchasers; they knew precisely what they wanted in their next yacht, from range to comfort, stability and toys-carrying capacity.

“In selecting Numarine, their choice reflects the depth to which this shipyard can meet the needs of even our most experienced yachting clients. Numarine’s collaboration with Hot Lab, a design studio with whom Camper & Nicholsons have worked closely in recent years, has resulted in contemporary and elegant interiors for these yachts.

The 37XP’s communal indoor areas have very large windows and can easily be opened up to deck space

“Looking ahead, the upcoming 40MXP is emblematic of a natural evolution from the 37XP, retaining its core and successful features, while introducing a large beach-club terrace on the main deck with a pool.”

PERFECTLY SUITED TO THE ASIA-PACIFIC

Looking forward to the collaboration, Solari agreed that the Asia-Pacific’s diverse cruising opportunities await in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong and China.

“One of the advantages of this region is that yacht owners can enjoy their vessels throughout the year, with peak season always somewhere nearby. With a yacht boasting a 6,000nm range, there’s an incredible amount to explore throughout the Asia-Pacific,” he said.

Numarine’s flagship 40MXP explorer is due to launch in 2025

Numarine is just as keen to get more widely known in this part of the world: “The Asia-Pacific region is one of our untapped markets today,” Özdoğan said. “We have had clients from the region, but we are committed to increasing the numbers with the help of our Camper & Nicholsons’ partnership. This reflects the company’s strategic focus on this growing market.

“Hong Kong and Singapore, in particular, stand out due to their established maritime infrastructure and large populations of high-net-worth individuals (HNWI). With a healthy population of ultra-HNWIs and an expanding yachting culture, Southeast Asia is a market where we’d like to see our yachts.

“This demographic is increasingly interested in not just owning a yacht but also in the idea of adventure and exploration, which aligns perfectly with Numarine’s brand message of both innovation and exploration. It is also true that there is a cultural shift in the region towards embracing a marine lifestyle.

The upcoming 40MXP will offer large volumes

“Regarding the trends in yachting, APAC will be one of the largest markets for explorer yachts since these regions are ideal for the capabilities of explorer yachts, which are designed for long-range cruising. Growing interest in charter is also an opportunity for owners, since most of the XPs we sold are on light charter, and they are rapidly chartered during available times.”

Numarine believes the upcoming 30XP will be very welcome in the region as sustainability becomes an ever-increasingly important factor in luxury purchasing decisions in APAC countries – particularly with millennials and younger HNWIs, who are more inclined to invest in products that reflect their values, including sustainability.

The 40MXP has plenty of deck and beach club space

The 30XP is designed to provide quietness when underway, as sustainable energy provisions within its contemporary design include solar panels that contribute to fuel efficiency.

“Additionally, Australia is emerging as what looks like a significant market for Numarine in the near future,” Özdoğan hinted.
