Singapore to welcome first Galeon 500

Singapore to welcome first Galeon 500

Regional dealer Asiamarine expects the first Galeon 500 Fly in Singapore to arrive in October, underlining continuing regional demand for the innovative builder.

The aft sides on the Galeon 500 Fly fold down to increase the living area

Asiamarine has sold the first Galeon 500 Fly into Singapore and expects the yacht to arrive in October, introducing the builder’s original ‘transformer’ yacht to a new market in Southeast Asia.

The regional dealer represents the builder in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, and says over 40 Galeon yachts have been delivered to Asia in the past four years.

The portside fold-down wing helps create a waterside bar with stools

The Galeon 500 Fly is known for its beach mode, in which its fold-down sides dramatically expand the yacht’s surface area and create an open bar to port. Another iconic feature is the 360-degree rotating aft sofa.

The drop-down wings and bar have since been included on newer models including the Galeon 400 and 640, while the original ‘transformer’ continues to prove popular across Asia as it sits in the popular 50ft sector.

The Galeon 500 Fly also features a rotating sofa in the aft cockpit

Eric Noyel, founder and CEO of Asiamarine, said: “When the first Galeon 500 in Singapore arrives later this year, it will enable our clients there to experience, feel and try the Galeon quality, and enjoy its innovations. I am excited by the prospect of more lucky Singaporean owners having the chance to join the growing ranks of Galeon owners.

“It makes me proud that Galeon is now one of the most established players in the industry, with over 40 units now in Asia in less than four years and growing at an accelerating speed.”

Fairline unveils new F//Line 33 layout

SHARE

The British builder is offering an alternative main-deck layout and new features on its F//Line 33, its smallest, fastest yacht.

Image of the new main-deck layout on the Fairline F//Line 33

The Fairline F//Line 33 is now available with an alternative main-deck layout, which simultaneously provides both sunbathing and seating options, and a larger helm. Other new options include a sleek hardtop and a below-deck galley with an electric hob and sink. All are available on the F//Line configurator.

The new cockpit features C-shaped seating to starboard, with the aft backrest doubling up as a headrest for the two-person sunbed. The cockpit comfortably seats up to six people around a fixed-height teak-top table. There is also an optional cantilever pedestal, which neatly stows the table behind the seat cushions when not in use.

The original main-deck layout (top) and the new option (bottom)

A wet bar to port includes a fitted sink and folding tap as standard, which can be upgraded to include a fridge and electric griddle, with a drawer icemaker in the seat base opposite. A more spacious helm allows for up to two 12in Garmin touchscreen displays.

Peter McNulty, Fairline’s COO, said: “Having taken onboard feedback from customers to further improve upon this category-defining weekender, with this practical new layout we have answered every question asked of us, while still retaining the F//Line’s exhilarating performance and award-winning pedigree. Flexible options such as the below-deck galley and stylish hardtop ensure owners can configure the F//Line 33 to perfectly suit how they go boating.”

Illustration of the hardtop option

The first model in the F//Line range, the 33-footer has been highly praised for its design and impressive performance, achieving speeds of 48 knots with twin Volvo Penta V8 430hp petrol engines. Furthermore, there’s below-deck accommodation for four in a midships cabin and a forward dinette that can be converted to a double bed.

A collaboration between Fairline and Italian designer Alberto Mancini, the F//Line 33 had its world premiere at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival, while an outboards version was revealed at Boot Dusseldorf in January 2020. Regional dealer Simpson Marine ordered the first F/Line 33 in Asia, which is now in Thailand.

Damen unveils SeaXplorer 105

Damen unveils SeaXplorer 105

SHARE

Damen Yachting has revealed designs for its largest SeaXplorer model so far, a 345-footer that combines the best of luxury yachting with explorer capability.

The Damen SeaXplorer 105 has a volume of 6,500GT

Damen Yachting has revealed the SeaXplorer 105, a 105m explorer yacht with a 17m beam and a volume of 6,500GT. The concept has evolved from Damen’s previous SeaXplorer 90, 95 and 100 designs with input from its SeaXplorer exterior design partner Azure Yacht Design, operational design partner EYOS Expeditions and clients.

Enrique Tintore, SeaXplorer Design Manager at Damen Yachting, said: “The SeaXplorer 105 is a fully developed design. However, the scope for client customisation is massive – that’s a key part of our proposition throughout the design process.”

Potential garages and storage spaces

Along with a 13m chase boat, the yacht can carry four 8-12m tenders, such as a limousine, RIB, landing craft and sports tender, which can be stored in the forward garage and tender bays. The yacht can carry a huge collection of toys including a submarine, and has a scuba dive deck with watersports centre and waterline embarkment.

The aft platform leads to an indoor beach club

Built under PYC rules, the SeaXplorer 105 offers 5,775sqm of surface area over her eight decks and large staterooms for 24 guests including two expansive owner suites. She has huge onboard stores for all provisions and luggage parts, as well as helicopter fuel, tender fuel and tanks for a trans-Pacific range of 8,000nm.

The viewing deck in the bow

As part of the SeaXplorer series, the 105 shares the unique observation lounge with outside bow point deck, but on a bigger scale, with an area of 123sqm devoted to enjoying spectacular views. The space includes a bar and multimedia centre.

The yacht complies with IMO Polar Code category B

The SeaXplorer 105 is fitted with the latest hybrid diesel-electric pod propulsion and complies with the IMO Polar Code category B requirements for polar safety and environmental protection. Her hull is built with Polar Class 7 ice strengthening with double-acting stern icebreaking for safety in fast-changing ice conditions.

The powerful stabiliser fins retract where difficult-to-detect ‘growlers’ – truck-sized fragments of icebergs or glaciers – float beneath the surface and can prove significant hazards for fixed fins. Below deck, the garbage stores and large greywater tanks ensure zero-discharge operations for long periods between port calls.

The yacht can accommodate two helicopters

The fully certified twin helideck (primary surface and standby area) is suitable for two fast twin-engine helicopters. Below deck, a weathertight double hangar with hydraulic lift system keeps both aircraft protected from the elements. Two helicopters offer increased flexibility, redundancy and safety when out of range of rescue services. In Antarctica, regulations require two helicopters when flying far or landing in the mountains for skiing.

Features can include an outdoor cinema

Having a 300sqm twin helideck also means the owners can host parties for 200 guests with an ultra-lounge layout. There is also plenty of room for an outdoor cinema, full-size doubles tennis court or basketball half court. The transom is not only a swim platform but also an open bar area with upstairs lounge.

The SeaXplorer Spa includes an 8m swimming pool and gym

Equal in size to the huge twin helideck is the indoor SeaXplorer Spa, a 300sqm main deck wellness space. The indoor swimming pool is 8m in length, while the space also includes a gym with folding terrace, whirlpool, steam room and sauna, with folding terrace, massage room, hairdresser and beauty salon and treatment room.

Bali 4.4 to launch in autumn

SHARE

Continuing a busy period for Bali, the French builder is scheduled to launch its 4.4 sailing catamaran in the autumn.

The Bali 4.4 features a solid foredeck and a flybridge

Bali has scheduled an autumn debut for its 4.4 sailing catamaran, which will fit between the 4.2 and 4.6, new models only launched earlier this year and late last year respectively.

Like other models from the French brand, the 4.4 was conceived by founder Olivier Poncin (Leader, Issue 58), owner of Catana Group. Featuring hulls with sleek bows and elegant lines, the 45ft 1in yacht has a 24ft 3in beam and features naval architecture by Samer Lasta of Lasta Design Studio and interior design by Xavier Faÿ.

The saloon and aft cockpit offer seating on all four sides

The Bali 4.4 features the brand’s distinctive features including the lift-and-tilt aft saloon door, sliding side windows, solid foredeck and flybridge, the latter two areas contributing to 946sqft of useable space. The main helm is port side on the flybridge.

The platform connecting the sugarscoops offers another social space with a large bench seat incorporating lockers. The brand estimates that the Bali 4.4 offers 10 per cent more usable space than its direct competitors.

The galley is forward to port, with the fridge to starboard

A maxi-sized saloon/lounge can accommodate up to 10 guests, a fridge/freezer up to 615 litres is to starboard, while forward is a large L-shaped galley to port and a lower helm to starboard.

The ‘Bali door’ and sliding windows provide great ventilation through the interior, while there’s also a forward saloon door to the foredeck to connect the two zones. The yacht is available in three and four-cabin versions.

The master cabin in the three-cabin version

Rig details include maximum upwind sail area of 150sqm (1,615sqft), standard mainsail area of 76sqm (818sqft), Code 0 of 74sqm (797sqft) and standard self-tacking jib of 42sqm (452sqft). Engine options range from twin 40hp to twin 57hp.

Asiamarine represents Bali in Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. The regional dealer is importing a stock unit of the Bali Catspace Sail into Hong Kong in June, having earlier delivered the first Bali Catspace in Asia to its owner, also in Hong Kong.

Italian builder reveals two units of its new metal superyacht are already sold, with a third under construction.

Cloud 9 is Sanlorenzo’s first 62Steel; Photos: Guillaume Plisson for Sanlorenzo

Sanlorenzo has delivered the first 62Steel, Cloud 9, to its owner, who has previously owned a 46m superyacht from the Italian shipyard. The new five-deck, 1,300GT model has an overall length of 61.5m and a beam of 11.9m.

The 62Steel has been designed by Sanlorenzo’s technical and style departments, with long, banded windows extending across three decks contributing to a slender profile elegance. Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini handled the décor and furnishings of Cloud 9.

The 62Steel has five decks

The beach club is among the yacht’s standout features and is lit by the transparent bottom of the guest swimming pool, situated at the aft end of the main deck and designed with a sliding cover that transforms it into an extended sunbathing area.

The covered beach area on the lower deck spans 92sqm and includes relaxation areas, a bar area, gym and hammam. There’s another 40sqm of outdoor space on folding terraces aft and to either side, offering guests the chance to enjoy swimming, diving and sunbathing by the water.

The 92sm covered beach club is connected to 40sqm of fold-down decks

To free up space in the beach area, the 62Steel has been designed with two midships garages, which contain the main 9m tender to starboard and the service tender and jetski to port.

The saloon on the main deck shares the 90sqm area with the dining room, which seats up to 16. The dining area is separated from the living area by a glass window with a thin metal mesh that allows all the light from the adjacent area to be captured while maintaining privacy.

The main-deck saloon (above) is separated from the dining room (below)

The main deck also features six cabins, five of which are guest cabins and a massage room, two with king-size beds and three twin cabins with single beds.

The upper deck, reached by a lift, is dedicated to the owner and includes the vast 215sqm master suite, which has a forward-facing double bed with stunning views, two bathrooms, a walk-in dressing room, study and living area.

The owner’s suite is forward on the upper deck

The owner’s suite is connected to the 140sqm outdoor area in the bow, which features large sunbathing and relaxation areas and a swimming pool. Aft is the 67sqm Sky Lounge, a space reserved for entertainment and games, while outside is an open-air al fresco dining area.

Owner’s-suite view of the swimming pool forward on the upper deck

Paszkowski and Casprini opted for natural materials and colours in neutral tones that create a bright, relaxing atmosphere, balanced by the warm, rich grain of ebony with a glossy finish used to cover some of the furnishings.

The main material, together with oak, is Jerusalem stone, which is used to cover walls, bathrooms and niches, as in the guest cabins. The furnishings combine a selection of Minotti products with pieces designed by Paszkowski and Casprini and custom-made elements from local artisans.

Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini chose the décor and furnishings

Paszkowski said: “Creating the interior design for the 62Steel was an exciting process. Our long-standing collaboration with the shipyard and our knowledge of the owner allowed us, in collaboration with Margherita Casprini, to move into uncharted territory and create interiors with a distinctly contemporary feel.

“Principal materials such as marble, stone and oak are combined with glass and leather, while made-in-Italy brand furniture coexists with custom furnishings designed by our studio. Working with high-level professionals, an important shipyard and an experienced owner is always a very rewarding experience.”

The second 62Steel is also sold and will be delivered in the autumn, while a third unit is scheduled for early 2023. Sanlorenzo is represented in Asia by Simpson Marine, under Sanlorenzo Asia.

The sale of the first Wally 101 was among a 40 per cent rise in first-quarter revenues, while the first Ferretti Yachts 1000 and second Riva 50 Metri were among 56 launches from January to March.

The Wally 101 design was unveiled in late 2019

The Ferretti Group has reported first-quarter revenues of €186 million (about US$224 million), a 40 per cent increase on the €133 million generated in the same period last year. Europe and the Middle East accounted for more than half of revenues. First-quarter EBITDA stood at €18 million, compared to €5.5 million for the same three months last year.

As of April 21, new orders this year totalled over €300 million, pointing to “an extremely positive trend in 2021”, the Group stated. The figure represents 56 per cent of the entire 2020 order intake.

An early render of a cherry interior for the Wally 101

New sales included a Wally 101, the first Wally sailing yacht sold since the brand became part of the Ferretti Group and the brand’s 48th custom sailing superyacht since Luca Bassani founded the company in 1994. Over 30m long, the 101ft sloop has a sail area of 630sqm and is built entirely from carbon-fibre.

Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group, said: “Record-breaking first-quarter EBITDA and equally extraordinary new order growth – including an extremely significant order for a large Wally sailing yacht – tell the story of a Ferretti Group with the wind in its sails. Everything points to a very positive 2021.”

The second Custom Line Navetta 30 was among Q1 launches

From an industrial perspective, Ferretti Group reported a record 56 launches in the first quarter, compared to 43 in the same period last year. Almost all the Group’s shipyards and main brands contributed to this record, with major launches including the first Ferretti Yachts 1000, the second Riva 50 Metri, Fifty, and the second Custom Line Navetta 30, following the first sold into Hong Kong.

“The launches are like the dates of a successful show, because this record number in just three months attests to the huge appreciation our boats enjoy and the strength of our production strategies,” Galassi added.

Riva launches second 50 Metri

Ferretti Group has launched Fifty, the second Riva 50 Metri, less than two years after the debut of the first

“After excellent performance in 2019 and a basically stable 2020, we were expecting to grow, but this fantastic acceleration has beaten all our forecasts and gives everyone who works in Ferretti Group twice the satisfaction and energy.”

Time Off is the ninth hull of Damen Yachting’s 55m Yacht Support design.

Time Off was launched in the Damen shipyard in Antalya, Turkey

Damen Yachting has launched the ninth hull of the 55m Yacht Support model, Time Off, in its shipyard in Antalya on Turkey’s south coast. Following her final outfitting, the 182-footer will be available for immediate delivery this summer.

Time Off is the ninth hull of the 55.5m Yacht Support design

Wouter Kleijpoel, Design Manager Yacht Support, said: “The fact that Time Off is the ninth Yacht Support to be launched from our YS 5009 design speaks volumes. The flexibility this design offers our clients to really make the vessel work to their own yachting needs and requirements is what continues to make it so popular. We are all very proud to see her hit the water in Antalya and look forward to seeing the finishing touches come together.”

The yacht is distinguished by a multipurpose hangar on the main deck

With naval architecture, exterior and interior by Damen Yachting handled, the 499GT Time Off has a large, multipurpose main-deck hangar, which is technically ready for stern A-frame installation and allows for a flexible deck layout.

Configurations can include submersible and dive operations, vehicle garage or workshop facilities, stowage of equipment, space for social engagements or even transport of relief goods. Other new features include a new accommodation layout for up to seven guests and four staff plus crew.

The 55m superyacht features a Sea Axe hull form

Further design and mechanical enhancements also distinguish Time Off from Damen Yachting’s previous Yacht Support deliveries. Yachting features incorporated to enhance onboard comfort include generator sound enclosure, upgraded AV and navigation systems, and updated engine room installations.

As with all Yacht Support vessels, of which 16 in total have already been delivered in the last 10 years, Time Off’s seakeeping benefits from her Sea Axe hull form.

Time Off is now undergoing final outfitting

She is configured for flexibility and a blend of adventure and superyacht support functions. For example, the 50sqm aft area can be accessed via the swim platform can be tailored to suit onboard needs including a fully equipped dive centre, additional storage, additional activity facilities and a laboratory and research area.
