The first Beneteau Cup Hong Kong from May 15-16 will support the Splash foundation, while Voyager Risk Solutions is among a strong list of event partners.

Splash provides learn-to-swim and water safety courses for under-served communities

The organisers of the first Beneteau Cup Hong Kong have announced that the inaugural edition from May 15-16 will support Splash, a charitable foundation teaching under-resourced communities how to swim.

Splash currently works with domestic workers, children from low-income families, and youngsters with special needs. The Beneteau Cup will donate to its 2021 programmes, while Splash volunteers will join the first day of the regatta to help with the fun water activities prepared for the teams in the free time between the end of the race and the Awards Dinner Ceremony.

Open to all Beneteau owners and hosted by the Aberdeen Boat Club (ABC), the two-day regatta is organised by Beneteau Asia-Pacific and regional dealer Simpson Marine.

The first day features an Island Race and an Awards Dinner Ceremony with live music at ABC’s Middle Island clubhouse, which will be set up as a tropical island as part of the evening’s French Antilles theme. The Best Dressed Crew Award will be presented to the team with the most imaginative outfits.

Day two includes a Pursuit Race and a beach barbecue including prizegiving and the announcement of the overall winner. Organisers expect the regatta to become an annual event.

The Beneteau Cup will be held from May 15-16

Richard Allen, Simpson Marine Group General Manager, said: “There are Beneteau Cups taking place all over the world, but we have never had a dedicated Beneteau owners event in Hong Kong and that had to change. With the support of Beneteau and the Aberdeen Boat Club, we invite all Beneteau owners with their crew, friends and family to the Beneteau Cup Hong Kong.

“With two days of fun racing, big social events, a treasure hunt, a white sails pursuit race and a beach barbecue, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy. The event is aimed at having a fun time and growing the owners community around Hong Kong, so everyone is welcome, regardless of their racing experience.”

Vianney Guezenec, Director of Beneteau APAC, said: “On May15, Beneteau, together with Simpson Marine, will fire the starting gun of the first Hong Kong edition of the renowned Beneteau Cup. For the first time in Hong Kong, we will have the pleasure of celebrating the Beneteau family with a unique two-day experience of sailing and fun.

Beneteau APAC, Simpson Marine and Aberdeen Boat Club are co-organising the event

At Beneteau, we are very proud to see such an amazing event being held by Simpson Marine, our historical partner in the region, and are looking forward to connecting or reconnecting with all the owners in Hong Kong.”
