Boat Lagoon Yachting hosted the invitation-only Asia premiere of the Princess Y95 at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, where guests were able to see and tour hull one of the British shipyard’s latest 95ft model.

An open-flybridge version of the X95, the Y95 had its show debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September featuring a second unit sold by Boat Lagoon Yachting.

The regional dealer, which has represented Princess in Southeast Asia since 1994, has since confirmed a third sale of the Y95, which is expected to arrive in the region in 2024.

Vrit Yongsakul, Group Managing Director of Boat Lagoon Yachting, said: “We’re very confident in the Southeast Asia market for luxury yachts in the 95ft category, as we’ve seen particularly high movement recently at the upper end of the market.

“Over only the past two years, we’ve arranged the sale of five 95ft Princess yachts, with two of the X95 and three Y95s. This is why we feel that the Princess Y95 is so important here at this time, so we’re really thrilled to be introducing it in Singapore.”

Like most recent Princess models, the Y95 was designed by the Plymouth shipyard in collaboration with Olesinski for naval architecture and Italian design house Pininfarina for exterior styling.

“Luxury yachts and the Singaporean lifestyle can be a perfect combination for those seeking an extravagant and culturally rich experience. Singapore is considered as the financial hub for the yachting business in this region,” Vrit said.

“Moreover, owners have idyllic sailing waters here. They can explore islands like Lazarus, St John’s, Seringat and Kusu, as well as Semakau, which offer pristine beaches, clear waters and opportunities for snorkelling and water sports. Or with a large-capacity yacht like the Y95, owners can easily cruise up to the beautiful Andaman Sea coast off Thailand and other destinations where the yachting conditions are perfect such as Phuket or Phang Nga Bay.”

The first Riva 102’ Corsaro Super in Hong Kong is expected to arrive in spring 2024 and is expected to be followed by another hull in spring 2025, following sales by local dealer Starship Yachts. Ferretti Group Asia Pacific confirmed the yachts are the second and third units sold in Asia, and will follow the upcoming delivery of a hull to Taiwan through Amal Yachting.

Launched last year during Riva’s 180th anniversary before its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the 102’ Corsaro Super is the successor to the 100’ Corsaro, which had its global debut in Hong Kong in April 2017.

Built at Riva’s La Spezia shipyard, the original Corsaro spearheaded the builder’s currently Flybridge series – which includes the new 82’ Diva, 90’ Argo, 110’ Dolcevita and 130’ Bellissima – and was followed by the steel-hulled 50Metri and all-aluminium 54Metri in build at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona.

Like all Riva models for the past two decades, the 102’ Corsaro Super is a collaboration between Officina Italiana Design founders Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee led by Piero Ferrari, and its Engineering Department.

Featuring an overall length of 30.24m (99ft 3in) and a beam of 6.70m (22ft 0in), the Corsaro Super features a complete design makeover of the superstructure, based on a sporty concept and more generous dimensions, and including new glass fashion plates aft to improve aerodynamics.

A new-look beach club covers more than 35sqm and features a lowered 15sqm swim platform, contributing to almost 100sqm of outdoor social space for guests.

This Is It will be available for charter through IYC from April 2024, with rates starting from €450,000 per week plus expenses. The radical 143ft Tecnomar will become the largest power catamaran available for charter and is represented by Fotis Geranios, IYC’s Head of Charter Management – Greece.

Sold to her current owner by Michel Chryssicopoulos, IYC’s Global Managing Partner, This Is It debuted at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, even before her official handover. The yacht features an eye-catching silhouette, over 600sqm of glass windows and an asymmetrical layout.

The interiors, crafted by Mattia Piro and Gian Marco Campanino, offer enormous volume and make the most of the yacht’s beam of 14.5m (47ft 5in). The main deck has a lounge, bar, game area, swimming pool and formal dining space.

The upper deck includes a spa with a treatment area, sauna, and sensorial shower, as well as a versatile ‘playroom’ or additional guest cabin. For an added flair when entertaining, the galley features polarised glass for show cooking.

The third Beneteau Cup Hong Kong featured 19 boats racing in solid sailing conditions, with Easy Breezy II retaining her overall title. By Guy Nowell.

Beneteau Asia-Pacific and regional dealer Simpson Marine celebrated a day of brand camaraderie with the third annual Beneteau Cup Hong Kong. This is when every Beneteau owner in Hong Kong is invited to join in an event that includes a little light-hearted racing followed by some après-sail socials that are just as important as the on-water activity.

Beneteau Cup regattas have been a successful item in the European sailing calendar for some years, and the addition of the Hong Kong edition has been welcomed enthusiastically by local sailors.

It was a good sailing day. Warm, but not too hot. Breezy, but not overpowering. A little more sunshine would have been welcome, but let’s not be churlish. The racing part of the Beneteau Cup was organised by Aberdeen Boat Club and its Marine Services Manager, Alex Johnston, who is well experienced in this sort of thing.

From a start outside Deep Water Bay, a 12nm course left Chesterman Buoy and Castle Rock to port, a rounding mark in Tai Tam Bay to starboard, and then retracing the steps all the way back to the finish.

The breeze was moderate, but enough to be useful. It’s worth remembering that not all the sailors in this fleet are diehard racers, and there were plenty of guests on board, so 8-10 knots was just what the doctor ordered. It was ‘white sails’ all the way to the Tai Tam turning mark and Castle Rock, and spinnakers all the way home.

The nature of the course made little call for tactical decisions. Tak Chung Leung’s vintage Beneteau 47.7, Polar Star III, took line honours in just 99 minutes, ahead of Philippe Grelon’s undiluted racing machine, the Figaro Beneteau 3 Rosy Sky.

Richard Allen, Simpson Marine’s Group General Manager, skippered a new, very sporty Beneteau First 36 and was third over the line after covering some extra distance on account of an ‘unforced error’. Handicap honours went to Alfred Lau and Castor Kong’s beautifully turned-out Easy Breezy II, a Beneteau First 41 S5, having completed the distance in a splash less than two hours.

Then it was time for some après-sail. The Aberdeen Boat Club’s outstation at Middle Island is a wonderful venue for sipping a glass or two of chilled rosé, and offered quite the most magnificent charcuterie buffet that we’ve seen in a long while. The restaurant terrace is a very special space for some alfresco dining, accompanied by the race postmortem conversations at which sailors excel!

Erwan Her and Richard Allen

Erwan Her, Sales Director of Beneteau Asia-Pacific, added: “Building on the success of the previous editions, this event once again brought together our passionate community of sailors. It goes beyond mere competition; it is an opportunity to forge lasting connections and create a vibrant social community for Beneteau owners who share a deep love for sailing and the sea.

“As always, the Beneteau Cup enhances the thrill of racing in Hong Kong waters, creating unforgettable memories to be enjoyed over the year ahead.”

Allen added: “The third Beneteau Cup went a long way to cementing the reputation of these excellent boats, with a day of first-class racing and even better socials afterwards. Owners and their crews enjoyed near-perfect sailing conditions and even the occasional splash of sunshine. We’re already looking forward to the 2024 Beneteau Cup!”

Sunreef Yachts has been commissioned to build a hybrid Ultima 88 powercat for Tim Ciasulli, the former powerboat racer and multiple world record holder. Designed in-house by Sunreef, the sleek 88-footer with a 30ft beam is the largest model in the Polish builder’s new Ultima series of power catamarans, which also includes 44, 55 and 77 models.

Ciasulli is a serial yacht owner, having owned five monohull superyachts, and the American made headlines in 2021 as the owner of the first Benetti Oasis 40M, Rebeca, named after his wife. However, having raced powercats for much of his life, he has now ordered his first multihull, which offers 4,166sqft of living space across three levels.

Ciasulli said: “Who else builds a yacht that has almost 400sqm of living area where you can cruise responsibly, economically and sustainably on solar-powered electric motors and go 35mph on traditional engines when you need to? I’m thrilled to be a part of this game-changing exciting project where I can have both speed and sustainability on a huge platform!”

One of the yacht’s notable features is a walkaround ‘ocean lounge’, where the large, curved swim platform can connect to two opening bulwarks and offer easy access to water toys.

Lenny, a new Beneteau First 44 Performance owned by Charles-Etienne Devanneaux, has arrived in Sydney following a successful journey from Hawaii, where the yacht had completed the biennial Transpacific Yacht Race (Transpac). Lenny’s upcoming schedule includes the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race starting on December 26.

An experienced ocean racer, Devanneaux is the founder and CEO of Naos Yachts, the Beneteau dealership in California. Devanneaux and his crew led Lenny to second place in Division 7 – Boatswain Locker (ORR Transpac) in this year’s Transpac, a three-start 2,225nm race from San Pedro in California to Diamond Head in Hawaii that was held from late June to mid-July.

From Hawaii, Lenny and crew made stopovers in Fiji and New Caledonia, and faced challenging weather conditions including 40-knot-plus winds before reaching Sydney on October 20. With the crew encountering minimal technical issues throughout the voyage, Devanneaux was full of praise for the yacht, highlighting its safety features along with its well-designed deck and cockpit.

Currently docked at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA), Lenny has been lined up for multiple events in the coming month including the Beneteau Cup Sydney at CYCA on October 27.

Both the First 36 and First 44 sailing yachts debuted at last year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.

Lenny’s racing calendar includes the Rolex Sydney Hobart, with Devanneaux skippering a strong team including his regular French crew and Yann Masselot, Chief Brands and Communication Officer for Groupe Beneteau’s Boat division.
