CL Yachtsā 20m flybridge motor yacht will make its Oceania debut at Sanctuary Cove in late May.
A CLB65 (click for Review) is on its way to Australia, where it will make its country debut at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show from May 23-26. The model had its world premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October 2022 before making its Asia debut in Hong Kong last year.
CL Yachtsā entry-level model, the brandās first to feature an aft galley, will be displayed at the Sanctuary Cove show in Queensland by Sydney Marine Brokerage, CL Yachtsā dealer for Australia.
Andrew Withers, the dealershipās Managing Director, said: āCLB65 is an interesting addition to the Australian market and offers so many features key to cruising this region. It encapsulates the essence of waterside living and delivers an incredible onboard experience, but is equally capable of taking you anywhere you want to go thanks to a carbon-reinforced, resin-infused hull and a 27-knot top end.ā
The 19.7m flybridge motor yacht has a wide, 6.05m beam, a Howard Apollonio-designed hull and twin 800hp Volvo Penta IPS 1050 engines. Outdoor areas include a large flybridge that extends all the way aft, providing shade and shelter to the cockpit below, which offers alfresco dining.
On the main deck, the interior starts with an aft galley to port opposite starboard dining, before a raised forward saloon and helm station to starboard. The lower deck includes a full-beam master suite, forward VIP and a twin cabin, all with en-suite bathrooms.
Martin Lo, Director of CL Yachts, said: āAs well as offering the very best fit and finish, and contemporary classic styling in a variety of materials to suit each clientās taste, we also consider the cruising areas and cruising style for our key territories.
āThis means that for each of our models, including CLB65, we have the capability to develop different layouts that match the culture, cruising grounds, climate and customer trends of those territories.
āAustralia is an exciting market for us and we think CLB65 is an exciting model for Australians, offering the perfect platform for the Australian boating lifestyle. We canāt wait to see the response to CLB65 at the boat shows this year.ā

The AkzoNobel brand launches revolutionary 3D Colour Visualizer for boaters and professionals.
AwlgripĀ®, the renowned yacht brand under AkzoNobel, has introduced a revolutionary 3D Colour Visualiser on its website:
https://www.awlgrip.com/colors. The innovative, industry-leading tool is designed to empower boaters and applicators by simplifying their journey to find the perfect colour for their boat.
Boat owners, applicators, boatyards and builders now have at their fingertips a cutting-edge 3D Colour Visualiser, offering instant access to tens of thousands of colours from the extensive Awlgrip colour database.
Whether it’s for a sailboat, sportfisher, motor yacht or a superyacht, users can select their vessel type and explore various colour options for the hull sides, deck, cabin and boot stripe, and including the fouling-control solution for their region.
Through AkzoNobel’s expertise in colour and utilising unique algorithms, boaters are now able to gain a visual representation of what their boat could look like in a 3D virtual environment, then download their project scheme to discuss with their retailer or client.
Unlike traditional āflatā panels, the user can manipulate the virtual boat to view colours from different angles, providing a lifelike impression of how complex curves and angles will appear.
Jemma Lampkin, Commercial Director of AkzoNobel Yacht Coatings, emphasises that the tool reflects AkzoNobel’s commitment to enriching the customerās experience when it comes to the important, often emotive subject of colour.
āThis technology development is a testament to the digital innovation and passion that AkzoNobel and our yacht team strive to deliver to boaters and professionals every day. Weāre truly excited to better assist our boaters and applicators in simplifying their journey towards finding the perfect colour and Awlgrip topcoat for their boats,ā she said.
āOur customers want to find the right colour to make the boat look its best on the water. Thatās why weāve developed this industry-first solution to inspire them to make that choice of painting their boats easier.”
Matthew Anzardo, Global Segment Manager of AkzoNobelās Yacht Coatings, said: āThe introduction of our innovative 3D Colour Visualiser signifies another step in the way we use digital technology to support our customer experience.
āExtensive data analytics, investment in our colour portfolio and capability while adapting new trends and technology are key foundations that help us stand out when it comes to colour selection and performance in the boating industry.
āThis is a 3D tool to help boaters gain a realistic representation of what their boat could look like, which is an important first step. Nonetheless, we still suggest working with your Awlgrip applicator to ensure that the colour choice is right for you.ā

āThe modelsā transatlantic range allows owners to explore the extraordinary cruising areas in Asia and Oceania in confidence. And the extra space of the NL37+ and NL45+ models will allow more space, so more customisation possibilities to meet requirements of the Asian yachting lifestyle.ā

Cryptocurrency offers an exciting new option for luxury yacht transactions, as explained by Giles Whitby-Smith of Bitcashier, whose clients include Camper & Nicholsons, Denison, SuperYachtsMonaco and Simpson Marine.
Ā
Ā
Ā
Ā
Ā
Ā
Ā
Ā
The world of luxury yachts is synonymous with opulence, adventure and exclusivity. Yet thereās a subtle but significant transformation underway within this elite industry ā the integration of cryptocurrencies.
Ā
Traditionally, yacht brokerage has been a challenging and competitive field, with brokers often funding their operations until that elusive first deal. The industry is characterised by self-employment, lack of basic salary or income certainty, and intense competition for affluent buyers.
Ā
Today, the clientele for luxury yachts spans various age groups, from traditional older yacht owners looking to upgrade their vessels to secretive business magnates seeking opulent escape options. However, a fascinating new demographic is emerging ā young, crypto-native millionaires and billionaires.
Ā
Cryptocurrency, which has created significant wealth for many under-50s in recent years, is gaining prominence as a means of conducting high-value transactions. These individuals, wary of traditional banking systems, are turning to platforms like Bitcashier to purchase assets such as yachts, aircraft, real estate and luxury cars.
Ā
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Using cryptocurrency to buy or charter a yacht is simpler than it may seem. Itās akin to a foreign exchange transaction. If you have euros and want to make a purchase in dollars, you use an FX platform to convert your currency. The process is comparable to dealing with cryptocurrencies.
Ā
Hereās a practical example: a buyer wants to acquire a US$10 million yacht and intends to use their cryptocurrency holdings for the purchase. The buyer informs the broker of their cryptocurrency preference, who, in turn, contacts Bitcashier.
Ā
After conducting Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks and wallet analysis, Bitcashier provides a cryptocurrency invoice to the broker and client, indicating the amount of cryptocurrency required for the transaction.
Ā
Ā
Once the buyer transfers the specified cryptocurrency amount, Bitcashier promptly converts it into the equivalent fiat currency and transfers it to the yacht brokerās account.
Ā
This process, completed within about 20 minutes, aligns seamlessly with standard contractual terms, ensuring the broker always receives the agreed-upon fiat sale price. Bitcashier facilitates these transactions by charging a fee to the crypto client, offering significantly faster transaction speeds compared to conventional bank transfers.
Ā
WHY CHOOSE BITCASHIER?
Bitcashier stands as a bridge between traditional luxury markets and the digital age, facilitating seamless, convenient and secure transactions. The platformās commitment to innovation and transparency makes it the preferred choice for discerning clients in various sectors.
Ā
With its real-time exchange platform and extensive experience, Bitcashier successfully completed eight superyacht sales and six charters in 18 months. Its key attributes, including the speed of transactions and continuous operation ā itās available all day, every day ā make it a valuable partner for businesses operating in high-value luxury markets.
Ā
In a world where cryptocurrency is gaining traction as an alternative financial asset, Bitcashier empowers yacht brokers and charter companies to tap into a previously untapped revenue stream. As a fully regulated, insured and trusted global partner, Bitcashier enables them to attract young, wealthy individuals who are increasingly turning to cryptocurrencies for their financial transactions.
Ā
In conclusion, the yachting industry, like many others, is adapting to the rise of cryptocurrencies. Bitcashier is at the forefront of this revolution, providing a secure and efficient gateway for cryptocurrency enthusiasts to access the world of luxury yachts and high-end assets.
Ā
Whether youāre a seasoned yacht broker, a charter company or an affluent buyer, Bitcashier is changing the game by making luxury more accessible through digital innovation.

A former investment banker in London, Whitby-Smith is CEO of Bitcashier, which he co-founded with Marc Dominic (CTO) in 2020. His strong experience in financial instruments and his successful entrepreneurial history have helped Bitcashier become a leading brand in the yachting marketplace for enabling crypto transactions. Bitcashier is a fully regulated, easy-to-use platform offering risk-free transactions for buyers wanting to use cryptocurrency to buy or manage their yachts or fleet.
Dilan Sarac of The Superyacht Life Foundation hopes the upcoming World Boating Day will help open the leisure boating sectors to the public and change perceptions of the yacht industry.

Ā
The Superyacht Life Foundation ā a non-profit dedicated to telling the positive stories of superyachting to both change public perceptions and grow the industry ā is organising the first World Boating Day on the weekend of May 25-26 in what we hope will become an annual event. This global initiative is designed to help grow all levels of the industry and serve as a global celebration of the leisure side of water and the joy of being out on it.
Ā
The aim is for local, regional and national organisations and companies across the leisure boating, yachting and superyacht sectors to engage with and educate the public. We want all sectors to introduce what boating is, how accessible it can be, the positive impacts the industry can have, and the career opportunities it offers.
Ā
This unique experience will bring industry professionals and the public together on an unprecedented scale in a celebration of everything boating and everything that the industry behind it offers. Over the coming months, The Superyacht Life Foundation will be working with industry bodies and other professional organisations to encourage participation from all levels of the marine leisure industry.
Ā
So, whether you work for a shipyard or join forces as a leisure boating community, organising local events that make waves for a global cause.
Ā
WHY WORLD BOATING DAY?
The idea of creating an internationally coordinated event stems from simple but key aims. First, by educating people and getting them enthused about boating and being on the water, World Boating Day aims to open new channels for people to discover what recreational boating is all about. We want to build a pipeline of engagement and spark a passion in potential leisure boaters, potential yacht owners and potential industry employees.
Ā
Second, World Boating Day is an opportunity to showcase the extraordinary breadth of career opportunities and depth of talent that exists within the yacht and superyacht sectors. This can help attract the next generation of employees, from trades to engineering and all the other facets that go into designing, building and operating leisure sailing school, yacht club or yacht dealer, marina or a maritime organisation, World Boating Day presents an opportunity to boats and superyachts.
Ā
Lastly, it gives the boating industry as a whole and the superyacht industry in particular an opportunity to pull back the veil and to show the human and positive-impact sides of yachting and the industry behind it. In turn, this can help change perceptions of the industry and broaden its appeal through increased understanding.
Ā
At The Superyacht Life Foundation, we see the potential for this initiative to grow exponentially year-on-year, so people all over the world will be able to learn more about boating and the careers that the marine leisure industry and superyachting offer.
Ā
HOW TO TAKE PART
The concept for World Boating Day encompasses a broad range of potential activities, from invite only events, public open days, employee days and career days to try-a-boat initiatives, sample watersports lessons, interactive yard experiences and virtual tours.
Ā
This is our chance to show that boating and yachting can be for everyone, whether itās sailing schools offering sessions on sailing dinghies or superyacht builders giving a behind-the-scenes peek at the extraordinary number of trades and craftspeople involved in the industry. The only limits are your own imagination on how youād like to take part.
Ā
While the organising team encourages all boat, yacht and superyacht builders, yards and companies to open their doors, the event will also incorporate online activities and participation for those for whom live events are not practical.
Ā
The Superyacht Life Foundation is preparing advice, guidance and practical materials for participants that will include materials, ideas and overall PR management, while we can also help attract visitors through a central platform weāre creating.
Sarac is Executive Director of The Superyacht Life Foundation, a non-profit, commercially agnostic industry body that champions the positive people, places and projects surrounding the superyachting good life. The Foundation, together with its 27 partners from different sectors within the industry, uses its unbiased status to educate, inform and engage, opening the world of superyachts to new audiences and securing the long-term health of the superyacht industry.

Massimo Perotti, Executive Chairman of Sanlorenzo
Ā
Sanlorenzo Group has announced the closing of the acquisition of 95 per cent of share capital of Simpson Marine Limited from Mike Simpson, for an equity consideration of US$10 million, plus an earn-out up to US$7 million calculated on the net profit for the 2023 fiscal year.
Ā
The payment of the equity consideration is provided entirely by Sanlorenzoās cash on hand. In the first nine months of 2023, on a pro-forma aggregated basis in accordance with local GAAP, the companies in the acquired perimeter of Simpson Marine generated an EBITDA around US$6.5 million and a net income around US$4.5 million.
Ā
The final determination of the earn-out amount will follow the completion of the Simpson Marine 2023 financial statements auditing process, expected by April 2024. The Musumeci, Altara, Desana e Associati law firm assisted Sanlorenzo with the legal aspects of the transaction.
Ā
Simpson Marine Group, representing Sanlorenzo in Asia since 2015, has been operating for 40 years as a major yacht sales and service company throughout Asia-Pacific. It provides Sanlorenzo with āplug-and-playā direct distribution in several key markets: Hong Kong, Singapore, mainland China (Shenzhen and Sanya), Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Taiwan.
Ā
Such a capillary network is strategic for the long-term growth of Sanlorenzo in APAC. The region is expected to witness the highest UHNWIs growth worldwide for the coming years, as well as a higher yachting penetration rate among the ultra-wealthy population, given the significantly lower starting basis compared to more historical yachting markets such as the Mediterranean and the Americas.
Ā
Ongoing public and private initiatives in the region, such as marina development projects along the southern Chinese coastline and the rise of Hainan as a new global luxury hub, reinforce optimism around the potential for a long-term wave of market expansion.
Ā
Simpson Marine is also expected to play a pivotal role in the further development of Sanlorenzoās service offering at international level, as it offers extensive experience and expertise in a broad range of services, such as charter, refit, superyacht brokerage and yacht concierge.
