Designed by Italians Roberto Biscontini and Lorenzo Argento, who also collaborated on the First 53 and Oceanis Yacht 54, the brand’s new sailing flagship is distinguished by notable features including a master cabin in the bow with a forward-facing bed.

Based on a 43ft 2in hull with a beam of almost 14ft, the First 44 is offered in standard and Performance versions with an overall length of 46ft 5in and 48ft 1in respectively. The Performance version offers a different deck plan and options for keels and masts (aluminium or carbon).

Beneteau First 36

The shipyard’s first new sailing yacht of the year was the First 36, which premiered at the Palma International Boat Show and exhibited at Cannes. The yacht has received rave reviews for its performance, the result of an international design team including Argento, naval architect Sam Manuard, Slovenia’s Gigodesign for the interior, and New Zealand’s Pure Design & Engineering.

The Jeanneau Yachts 65 (click for Review) is the French builder’s new flagship, the model appearing a year after the 60 and ahead of the upcoming 55, all three models designed by Philippe Briand and Winch Design. Like the 60, the 65 offers numerous semi-custom options, including a hard top with sliding sunroof.

Nautor premiered its Swan 55 at Cannes, a year after debuting the Swan 58 at the same show. Another Swan design by German Frers, the 55 has a 54ft 6in hull, an overall length of 58ft 2in and a beam of 16ft 5in. The model is offered in a performance set-up, which includes a square-top mainsail and bowsprit for light weather and downwind sails.

The Finnish builder also launched the first ClubSwan 80, My Song, for owner Pier Luigi Loro Piana. Designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian, the stripped-down racer competed in the 13-strong Maxi class at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in early September before finishing third in the Maxi class at the subsequent Rolex Swan Cup. The yacht had its official world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Grand Soleil GS 72

Italy’s Grand Soleil released its new flagship GS 72 at Cannes, with the model then displayed at the Genoa International Boat Show. The Nauta Design interior features a spacious saloon with sofas on both sides and a dining table to port. Aft is the galley and two twin cabins, while forward is another guest cabin and the master in the bow. The GS 72 is part of the Forli-based shipyard’s Performance line, which is complemented by a Long Cruise (LC) series.

Other Cannes premieres included the Dufour 37 (click for article), the second-smallest model in the French builder’s portfolio. The 35ft 4in model has a 32ft 9in hull with a beam of 12ft 6in, which follows the form of offshore racing boats but with a slightly rounded lower hull. The 37 is available in three different versions: Easy, with two winches and a self-tacking jib, the more traditional Ocean version, and a racing-focused Performance version with six winches and high-performance equipment.

The French builder showed its focus on sustainability as it debuted the First 44e and Oceanis 30.1e sailing yachts at the Nautic Boat Show in Paris.

Beneteau First 44

Beneteau hosted the world premieres of the First 44e and Oceanis 30.1e at December’s Nautic Boat Show in Paris, with the sailing yachts showcasing sustainability in terms of the construction materials and propulsion systems.

Gianguido Girotti, Managing Director of Groupe Beneteau’s Boat Division, said: “We cannot force our customers, but we can win them over, which is why we need pioneering projects to develop new technologies and prepare the future leap forward. The transition is underway. The whole of the industry will need to change.”

The First 44e is the first production boat to be built from recyclable Elium resin, as part of Beneteau’s exclusive partnership with Arkema. Instead of teak, an exotic wood predominantly produced in Myanmar, the decking is made of Iroko from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified forests in Congo.

The yacht has a Torqeedo series hybrid propulsion system, where two pods are powered by a 20kW battery bank that can be recharged at harbour or at sea with a diesel generator.

Beneteau Oceanis 30.1

The Oceanis 30.1e uses an all-electric Torqeedo pod engine, with a 5kW battery that can be recharged at harbour or by solar panels. The Oceanis 30.1e is designed to be used initially for inland sailing, although Beneteau is considering rolling out the materials and technology used on the two boats on an industrial scale for production models.

Yann Masselot, Managing Director of Beneteau, said: “Reducing the environmental footprint of the nautical industry is a succession of challenges and small steps. Each innovation involves inventing valid technical solutions, creating partnerships and making investments, and, of course, receiving the support of customers.

“A demand for a new style of sailing is emerging. It is our responsibility to pave the way and not to impose changes in the way we sail, but to make them possible.”

Marcelo Martin Burgos: Sculpture of the Golden Age

“My aim is to elicit images and feelings that will take those who observe my art back to the most creative, awe-inspiring, and frightening time of their lives: the golden age of childhood.”

Artist Marcelo Martin Burgos

Argentinian artist Marcelo Martin Burgos now lives and works between Buenos Aires and Madrid. He has been practising sculpture for some thirty years, while also pursuing a career as a filmmaker. He finds his equilibrium through this alternation between immobility and movement, solitary work and teamwork, gesture and speech.

His artistic world is deeply rooted in childhood. The artist spent his early years in an orphanage where his father was the director and he was in contact with the children who lived there, who were also his friends. He remembers: “The place was on a hill, surrounded by trees but far from idyllic; it was eternally overcast by a heavy atmosphere of sadness. I’ve always remembered those kids with admiration. The way they would seek refuge in fantasy. The same way I found solace in art when just a few years later I lost my own father. Those children were the most resilient and brave of all the people I have met in my life.” Marcelo Martin Burgos continues to be fascinated by the imagination of children, which “helps them to make sense of the enormous, mysterious and overwhelming world they are thrown into.”

Polycephalous by Marcelo Martin Burgos. Bronze sculpture, 2017.

To rekindle the power of that imagination and to recapture the joy and freedom he felt in creating as a child, the artist has spent years shedding the academic baggage he received as an art student. A path which is not as easy as it seems: “it takes years to “unlearn” an education in the Fine Arts. The hand and the eyes are trained in a certain tradition, we are taught art history, we learn to imitate. Even worse, we are taught art is a struggle, and that to be a good artist means to cut an ear or drink oneself to death. I spent years trying to be a “serious” artist, I grew tired and bored. Until one day I stumbled upon some chalk drawings a kid had made on the floor of a park, and it struck me. Like a Proust’s Madelaine moment, I went back to the years I would draw just to amuse myself or to escape a reality that was too difficult to comprehend for a child. I had a voice, but for years I was trained to ignore it, to dismiss it.”

Dragoness by Marcelo Martin Burgos. Bronze sculpture, 2022.

His sculptures are crafted in bronze, a noble metal that he values for its versatility and above all, for its golden, mirror-like appearance once it is polished. Long before the invention of glass, the Etruscans were already using polished bronze to create mirrors. The reflective aspect of his creations is a way of inviting his viewers into his works and transforming his sculptures into sensory cues that trigger a memory. “My aim is to elicit images and feelings that will take those who observe my art back to the most creative, awe-inspiring, and frightening time of their lives: the golden age of childhood.”

Winged Demon by Marcelo Martin Burgos. Bronze sculpture, 2017.

This “golden age” is interpreted literally in his sculptures, which resemble statuettes in gold, a material traditionally associated with spirituality and the sacred. This dimension is particularly evident in his latest series, entitled “Monsters.” Although they evoke the spontaneity of children’s drawings, the pieces in this series are also reminiscent of the votive statues of ancient civilisations, which were meant to provide protection and comfort. The art of Marcelo Martin Burgos draws from multiple sources: manga and pop culture, dinosaurs, Toltec and African art. This power of evocation is precisely what gives his sculptures their capacity to resonate in everyone who views them: the sculptures become the means of escape into the memories, the dreams and the meanderings of our inner world.

Menschenfresser by Marcelo Martin Burgos. Bronze sculpture, 2017.

Marcelo Martin Burgos does not worry about the common critique expressed by viewers of contemporary art: “A kid could have done that”. “I would like them to know that that is the greatest compliment that you could ever give an artist, especially me”.

Marcelo Martin Burgos is represented by Artistics contemporary art gallery in Paris.

Following a remarkable early order book, the B.Now 50M has been described as the ‘most popular 50m model in history’. But whereas hull one Iryna has a traditional aft deck, most subsequent orders have chosen the Oasis Deck® option.

The B.Now 50M debuted at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show

A world premiere at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show, the B.Now 50M is the first in a family of four steel B.Now models, which also includes the 60M, 67M and 72M. UK-based studio RWD designed all four and each is available with a traditional aft deck or the Oasis Deck®, which was pioneered by the shipyard’s Oasis 40M and rolled out on the new Oasis 34M.

Benetti announced in Monaco that a staggering 16 units of the B.Now 50M had been sold as of late September, also stating that B.Now construction times are 30 per cent shorter than market standards due to advanced construction technology and hull engineering solutions.

The stunning early sales figures make the 499GT, four-deck superyacht “the most popular 50m model in history”, according to Sebastiano Fanizza, Benetti’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Benetti, B.Now, sales, 50M, 67M, 75M, RWD, Sebastiano Fanizza, Azzurra Beani, Andrew Collet, Oasis Deck®

British studio RWD designed the exterior of the B.Now 50M as well as its 60M, 67M and 72M sisters

“It’s elegant, it’s dynamic, it’s a 50m steel yacht, it’s a Benetti designed by RWD,” Fanizza says. “That’s all I need to start a discussion with a buyer.”

Iryna, hull one, shows the steel and aluminium hull by P.L.A.N.A and RWD’s clean, sporty exterior lines to good effect. Andrew Collet, RWD Project Manager, admits: “B.Now has automotive design cues, stripped-back surfaces. There’s no fuss or unnecessary details; everything you see is there for a reason.”

TRADITIONAL OR OASIS

The vast exterior spaces include an aft beach area with a glass-walled pool, an enormous forward lounge on the upper deck, and an open sun deck. About 40 per cent of the yacht’s ‘walkable’ living space is outdoors, according to Azzurra Beani, Benetti’s Project Manager for the B.Now 50M.

Iryna, the first B.Now 50M, features the traditional aft deck

When viewing from a dock or boarding, it’s the beach club that first welcomes you and Iryna features the model’s traditional aft deck. As well as the pool, the beach area includes an internal zone that can be accessed through a gullwing hatch on the starboard side as well as a stairway from the main deck.

The covered area includes a sauna and a service area complete with shower, while a drop-down side platform to starboard can expand and open the beach club to offer sea views, breeze and access to the water.

However, the Oasis Deck® option for the aft area has been chosen for the majority of the first 16 orders, according to Beani.

With the Oasis Deck®, the aft deck starts with a flat swim platform and a wide swimming pool, which is flanked on each side by four steps up to the main part of the beach club. On both sides, the curved bulwarks can drop down, so everyone on the two main lounging sofas, in the pool or any sunbeds can enjoy a 270-degree view of the sea.

A four-step central stairway then leads up the main deck, which starts with an aft cockpit with bar and seating area that feels connected to the rest of the beach club – or Oasis Deck®. “The Oasis Deck® option spans a remarkable 150sqm of outdoor area, which is a lot compared to any other 50m yacht,” Fanizza says.

DETAILED BUT RELAXED

The main deck starts with a partially covered aft deck or cockpit. On Iryna, the area features two curved sofas and two chairs around an oblong coffee table, with guests able to enjoy views of the pool and sea.

On Iryna, the aft main deck overlooks the pool

All the indoor and outdoor social areas, furniture and décor can be customised and outfitted by each owner, as it was on Iryna.

The interior, which RWD designed in collaboration with the Benetti Interior Style Department, starts with the saloon, with Iryna’s owner choosing a sofa and two chairs on port facing a TV on starboard side. Forward is a short hallway and then the formal dining area, which has full-height windows on either side.

On Iryna, interior claddings and ceiling panels are made with a variety of woods including silk coloured frisé maple and a smoked oak featuring contrasting dark shades. The ceilings feature tanned ivory leather, while the recesses are treated with satin-finish sheet palladium, the platinum family’s most precious metal.

The colourways in each setting play on ivory, brick and moka nuances, from the walls to the dark honey coloured silk and bamboo carpet.

Iryna’s owner, who upgraded to the B.Now 50M from within the Azimut-Benetti family, has added to the décor with nautically themed works of art including several beautiful and valuable maps.

A starboard hallway leads past the staircase to the owner’s suite, which has an integrated private balcony with sliding glass door, an indoor seating or coffee area, a large dressing room and en-suite bathroom, and a luggage area in which every detail is personalised.

The master suite has an integrated balcony with a sliding door

“It’s basically a private saloon for the owner,” Beani says. “The philosophy of the yacht is to live outside, so even when you’re inside in the master suite, you can completely open the verandah door and have the room fully open to the outdoors.”

A midships elevator links the lower, main and upper decks, while there are separate interior stairways for guests and crew. The lower deck features four nicely designed en-suite guest cabins midships, while in the bow are the crew quarters, which include four twin cabins, a captain’s cabin, laundry area and a good-sized crew mess.

OUTDOOR LIVING

The upper deck features two of the yacht’s largest outdoor areas including a vast aft deck that guests can reach from the main deck by an external staircase to port.

The aft upper deck leads into the skylounge

Aft is a long sofa facing an oblong coffee table and two chairs, while forward in the covered area is a large dining table arranged lengthways that can seat up to 10 people. The area can even become a cinema because of a pop-up TV to starboard.

The alfresco dining area leads into an elegant skylounge, where there’s a chair and a huge L-shaped sofa to starboard around a wooden table with fish carvings, while to port is a large TV. However, the room’s winning piece is a gorgeous map of the world on the forward bulkhead.

The skylounge features another ornate map

Forward is a gym with private shower, the ship office and the wheelhouse, which features standing room only by the wheel, a helm chair on each side, three console screens and five stand-up monitors.

The deck’s other outdoor space is forward of the wheelhouse, where the enormous open foredeck features two L-shaped sofas facing a large sofa cum sunbathing area.

The bow lounge features elegant sofas and sunpads

Upstairs, the large sun deck has a covered central dining area with a media space, an uncovered aft area with sunbeds and a large barbecue, plus a forward bar counter offering impressive views. The garage is located forward on the main deck and can house a 6.25m tender, a jetski, a rescue boat and four Seabobs.

Fitted with twin 1,400hp MAN V12 engines, the B.Now 50M has a top speed of 15 knots and a range of 4,500nm at a speed of 12 knots, with a fuel capacity of 60,000 litres.

However, like all B.Now, B.Century and B.Yond models and Benetti custom yachts, the B.Now 50M is available with the E Mode Hybrid system, which offers a variety of operating modes that mix the use of diesel engines, electric engines, diesel generators and advanced lithium-ion batteries.

Based on annual use of 400 hours under way and 600 at anchor, the shipyard says fuel consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) can be reduced by up to 24 per cent and nitrogen oxides (NOx) by up to 85 per cent, according to data supplied by the B.Yond 37M’s E-Mode Hybrid system.

Traditional propulsion or hybrid? Traditional aft deck or Oasis Deck®? Even if your mind is made up and the production time is impressive, there’s a huge backlog of orders, which is why B.Now 50M’s big sisters are becoming increasingly popular in the wake of the world’s most popular 50m yacht.

Like the 11, 12 and 15, the Excess 14 has twin helm stations aft, while innovations include asymmetric hulls with redesigned windows. The model has an-almost 44ft waterline length, while her overall length can range between 46ft-52ft depending on the bowsprit and swim platform. The model has an aft-set coachroof, while a ‘skylounge’ option offers lounging space on the top for use while the boat is anchored or moored.

Note: The New Models 2022 series will conclude with sailing monohulls released this year.

Custom Line enjoyed a very productive year

Custom Line recently launched the Navetta 37 Regina, which marked the 20th and final launch for the Ferretti Group builder in 2022. Bought by an American owner, the 14th unit of the popular Navetta 37 model was Custom Line’s sixth launch – all different models – at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona in just under two months, as the builder concluded the year with a wave of activity.

In late October, Custom line launched the 10th unit of the Navetta 30, which features an exterior by Filippo Salvetti and interior by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, and is the smallest of the brand’s displacement models. A Navetta 30 was also the builder’s first launch of 2022 (click for article) and is a popular model in Asia, with four units sold in Hong Kong and one in Singapore.

November 10 featured the launch of the eighth Custom Line 120’, the middle offering in the brand’s planing line, featuring exterior styling by Francesco Paszkowski Design and interiors by Paszkowski, Margherita Casprini and the Custom Line Atelier.

The seventh Navetta 30, Wolfpack, was Custom Line’s first launch of 2022

Six days later, Custom Line launched Our Way, the 25th unit of the Navetta 33, with its American owner in attendance. Two weeks later, on November 30, the builder launched M Together, the ninth unit of the Navetta 42, bought by a European owner. The Navetta 42 is currently the brand’s largest displacement model, with the company now developing the Navetta 50.

On December 13, the 15th Custom Line 106’ planing yacht, My Mistake, was launched, bought by a European owner, before the year’s launches concluded a week later with the Navetta 37 Regina.

“The success of Custom Line is unparalleled. The brand’s superyachts confirm their appeal for owners due to a mixture of unique and distinctive factors, the standouts being innovative onboard technology, excellent performance and sophisticated design,” the builder stated.

“The high level of customisation is the result of strategic contributions by the Custom Line Atelier, which supports the owner in every stage of the process and every decision, with the aim of creating the superyacht of their dreams.”

The French builder has released its second-smallest model, which follows the release of its acclaimed flagship.

Dufour has released its new 37, which is the second-smallest model in the current portfolio and follows the French builder’s larger new models like the 470, 530 and flagship 61 (click for Review).

The Dufour 37 has an overall length of 35ft 4in (10.77m) and a hull with a length of 32ft 9in (9.99m) and a beam of 12ft 6in (3.8m).

Dufour, sailing, yacht, 37, 61, 470, 530, Cannes Yachting Festival, Genoa International Boat Show, Grand Pavois La Rochelle, United States Sailboat Show, Annapolis

The modern, stable hull follows the form of offshore racing boats, but with a slightly rounded lower hull that “favours her passage through the water, while reducing the sound inside the yacht”.

The new hull form allows for a greater power/weight ratio for this boat, while Dufour says the feel at the helm is improved. In comparison with other models of her size, the mast has been lengthened to give an increased sail area and make the yacht even more powerful.

Dufour, sailing, yacht, 37, 61, 470, 530, Cannes Yachting Festival, Genoa International Boat Show, Grand Pavois La Rochelle, United States Sailboat Show, Annapolis

Like her predecessor the Dufour 360,the Dufour 37 has a single rudder and twin steering wheels with lift-up bench seats and a connecting bench in-between.The model is also available in three different sailing plans.

The Easy version features two winches and a self-tacking jib, while the Ocean version is more traditional, with the sheets positioned on the coamings and the halyard and mainsail traveller manoeuvres close to the helm station, plus more sail area.

Dufour, sailing, yacht, 37, 61, 470, 530, Cannes Yachting Festival, Genoa International Boat Show, Grand Pavois La Rochelle, United States Sailboat Show, Annapolis

The Performance version has six winches, a clew at the bottom of the cockpit and high-performance equipment, designed for pure racing.

The Dufour 37 also has many features seen on other recent Dufour designs such as the plancha grill on the aft deck, as well as fully inflatable cockpit upholstery such as the sunpad on the foredeck.

Dufour, sailing, yacht, 37, 61, 470, 530, Cannes Yachting Festival, Genoa International Boat Show, Grand Pavois La Rochelle, United States Sailboat Show, Annapolis

The hull and deck windows have been enlarged to make the saloon a very bright space. The galley is to port of the stairs, while the saloon features sofas on both sides and a fold-out table along the centreline.

There are two interior layouts available including a two-cabin version has a very large bathroom and a large exterior storage locker, while six berths are possible due to the transformable table in the saloon.

Dufour, sailing, yacht, 37, 61, 470, 530, Cannes Yachting Festival, Genoa International Boat Show, Grand Pavois La Rochelle, United States Sailboat Show, Annapolis

In the three-cabin version, up to eight guests can be accommodated. Both layouts feature a forward owner’s cabin, with Dufour stating that its “size and comfort is rarely found on a yacht of this length”. The interior decor is also available in three ‘Atmospheres’.

The Dufour 37 debuted at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival, also exhibited at the Genoa International Boat Show and Grand Pavois La Rochelle, before making its US debut at the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis.

Owned by Fountaine Pajot, Dufour is overseen in Asia by Kevin Corfa, while Sun Hing Shipyard in Hong Kong is the brand’s North Asia service centre.

Following the launch of the Wallywhy200 and announcement of the upcoming Wallywhy150, the Ferretti Group builder has revealed the third model in the ‘Wally Hybrid Yacht’ series.

The Wallywhy100 can top 27 knots

Wally has revealed details of the new model wallywhy100, which follows the 200GT Wallywhy200 that debuted in 2021 and the 150GT Wallywhy150, set to launch in early 2023.

The Wally-Ferretti Group Engineering team handled the exterior and naval architecture of the three-cabin Wallywhy100, with Studio A. Vallicelli & C. responsible for interior design of the new ‘Wally Hybrid Yacht’ (why). As a crossover product, the 100GT yacht combines the qualities of a 60-70ft coupé boat with the volume of the Wallywhy design, offering a voluminous cruiser in the sub-70ft range.

Wally, Wallywhy, Wallywhy200, Wallywhy150, Wallywhy100, 2021, 2023, launch, Stefano De Vivo, Luca Bassani

Wallywhy100 has a volume of 100GT

A twin D13 Volvo IPS configuration offers a cruising speed of 24 knots and a top speed of over 27 knots with the upgraded IPS1350 engines. A tall, slightly reversed bow ensures a dry and safe ride, while a joystick system and Volvo Penta technology offer an easy navigating experience, making her ideal for owner-operators.

Stefano de Vivo, Wally’s Managing Director, said: “The Wallywhy100 was born from a gap in the market. While beautiful and sleek, traditional coupés do not offer the comfort and liveability that today’s owners expect from their boats, while larger and more voluminous boats generally don’t offer speed or usage flexibility. This leaves owners with a tough choice: do they want to compromise on comfort or performance?

Wally, Wallywhy, Wallywhy200, Wallywhy150, Wallywhy100, 2021, 2023, launch, Stefano De Vivo, Luca Bassani

The beach area has fold-out sides

“Through the Wallywhy line, we’ve solved this problem by harnessing all the product and market knowledge we’ve accumulated over the years. Like the Wallywhy200 and Wallywhy150, the Wallywhy100 will be a game changer in many different markets due to its compelling value proposition and infinite usage cases for a wide demographic. In 20 years, the industry will look at the Wallywhy100 as a yacht that dared to be different.”

The covered main deck area can either be enjoyed closed or fully open to enable relaxed al-fresco dining, while the 14sqm beach area is home to a large hydraulic platform for launching and retrieving tenders and toys up to 3.6m.  A hydraulic passarelle/swim ladder ensures easy access both to and from the dock as well as from the water. The beach area is completed by folding wings that increase the space by almost 50 per cent.

The foredeck features a multi-use lounge that can be transformed into an aperitivo area with an elevated table in the middle or into a sunlounge by lowering the table to seating height

On the lower deck, the full-beam master cabin is located aft. The cabin’s en-suite bathroom is made from electrically regulated glass, so it can be fully transparent to enlarge the room or opaque when in use – a first for a sub-70ft yacht. The master also has wide array of closet and storage, and good views through large side windows. The VIP stateroom to port and the twin on starboard also have en-suites and large windows.

Luca Bassani, Wally’s founder and Chief Designer, said: “The yacht’s appearance is 100 per cent derived from its function. The closed cockpit is pushed far forward to provide space for inside/outside living, which gives the Wallywhy100 an eye-catching, sleek but still aggressive look. This is further emphasised by a large, inviting beach area close to the water

The master suite on the lower deck

“Thanks to its innovative design, the wallywhy100 is a ‘jack of all trades’. It’s a spectacular day or weekend boat for those who want to use it as a support vessel for their larger yacht. At the same time, its ample cabins, generous crew quarters, relaxation areas, and garage and toy storage capacity make it the perfect vacation home away from land. The wallywhy100 is a boat for owners who understand their own needs and aren’t afraid to break the mould.”

Breaking News: Singapore Yacht Show sets sail again!

SHARE

Asia’s biggest and longest-running boat show returns to Singapore from April 27-30, 2023.

Singapore Yacht Show, Verventia

When the long-awaited 10th edition of the Singapore Yacht Show (SYS) was forced to shut down just a few weeks before opening back in March 2020, nobody thought it would have to be postponed more than a few months. Finally, a full three years after the beginning of that awful period, the show can finally go on.

Much has changed on the boating industry landscape in all that time, but it has been a highly positive change. SYS organisers had worked flat out over the whole year following SYS 2019 to promote the 10th edition, and somehow, coupled with the lifestyle changes that were enforced on everyone, all the yacht brands, retailers and brokers alike have had three of their best business years in history – without the region’s main yacht show even taking place.

Going forward, to ensure that the Singapore Yacht Show and its sister events in Thailand and Hong Kong will be sustainable and secure for the future, Verventia’s Andy Treadwell says he is joining forces with all the experienced, respected and professional boat show organisers and marketers in the region.

Singapore Yacht Show, Verventia

“It will be a team in which the global industry can have total faith as genuine partners with all the necessary local knowledge, and we will be operating one combined event platform called Asia Yacht Shows,” said Treadwell.

“With the huge amount of interest from many new players as well as from all the long-standing exhibitors, sponsors and supporters of SYS since its inception 10 years ago, the show needs to grow.

“And with our push to get foreign superyachts coming to Asia to cruise and charter, which they can now do legally in Thailand, we are already seeing a big influx of large yachts here, and interest from Asian buyers and charterers is growing fast. The show needs to grow with it. The choice of the best venues for all three shows is still under discussion and will be announced shortly.”

YACHT STYLE will post any updates on the boat shows as additional information is confirmed.
