Jeanneau takes on TH powercat series

Following a Groupe Beneteau decision, the historic French brand has taken over the TH line and will showcase a powercat for the first time at Boot 2026.

Jeanneau has taken on the TH series of powercats from Four Winns, also within Groupe Beneteau. Following Lagoon, Excess and Prestige, Four Winns became the fourth Group Beneteau brand to produce catamarans when it staged the world premiere of the TH36 – TH standing for twin hull – at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival.

At the Cannes show in September 2025, the American brand staged the global debuts of the TH33 and TH38, two models that will now be offered under Jeanneau, which will display the TH33 at Boot Dusseldorf (Hall 1, Stand B54) from January 17-25, 2026.

“Four Winns wishes fair winds to the TH range,” the American brand stated. “We are proud to entrust the future of this innovative power catamaran range to our friends at Jeanneau. We send our very best wishes for success to the new Jeanneau TH range and look forward to seeing its future flourish.”

The TH series joins Jeanneau’s motorboat ranges, which include Cap Camarat, Merry Fisher, Merry Fisher Sport, the DB Yachts series of luxury dayboats launched in 2022, and the Sea Loft series, which joined the brand’s portfolio in 2025.

Like the DB/43 and DB/37, the TH33 and TH38 feature exterior design by Italy’s Garroni Design, which help the powercats look like a natural fit within Jeanneau, which was founded in 1957.

“Jeanneau’s strong brand recognition, its nearly 70-year heritage, its undisputed know-how,

and the passion of its teams are powerful assets that will enhance the visibility and success of

the TH range,” the brand stated.

“It will also benefit from the expertise of Jeanneau’s extensive worldwide distribution network,

comprising more than 400 dealerships offering a wide array of services and advice to all customers

and owners.”

Erik Stromberg, Groupe Beneteau’s Product Strategy Director, said: “Sailing, cruising and living on a TH is a unique experience. Of course, a catamaran offers more space, but what truly makes the difference is its stability, both at anchor and underway. Moreover, its specially designed hull ensures easy planing while remaining perfectly stable, guaranteeing a sailing comfort unmatched by a monohull.”

Only the brand’s second yacht to feature a Harrison Eidsgaard interior, Amels 6008 is scheduled for delivery in 2026.

Damen Yachting has announced the sale of the eighth hull in its Amels Limited Editions series, known internally as Amels 6008. The 60m superyacht is currently undergoing final outfitting at the Damen Yachting shipyard in Vlissingen in the Netherlands ahead of its scheduled 2026 delivery.

Jorrit Pilaar, Damen Yachting’s Commercial Executive EMEA, said: The sale of this latest Amels 60 is a great example of our collaborative approach. This owner was able to take a proven platform and, through a close partnership with us, customise the yacht, even though they came in at a late stage. This project truly showcases the flexibility and appeal of our Limited Editions concept.”

Following Memories, delivered in mid-2025, Amels 6008 is the second hull from the series to feature interiors by Harrison Eidsgaard. However, Ben Harrison, Director of Harrison Eidsgaard, described the design for Amels 6008 as notably different from the British studio’s first project for the shipyard.

“Marking a shift from the natural hues of the previous Amels 60 we designed, this yacht is really something different – an elevated level of sophistication and glamour with navy accents and rich walnut,” Harrison said.

Exteriors for the Amels 60, which has a 10.4m beam, are by Espen Øino and feature the series’ characteristic trapezoid windows. Amels 6008 has a volume of 853GT, and accommodation includes cabins for up to 12 guests and 13 crew members, with the owner’s suite offering a fold-down private balcony.

As well as the Amels 60’s distinctive sundeck, features on Amels 6008 include a jacuzzi, a touch-and-go helipad, and a generous waterside beach club. Powered by a low-emission hybrid MTU propulsion system, the superyacht has a top speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising range of up to 4,500nm at 13 knots.

Top builders by total length of construction in Global Order Book 2026; c/o Boat International Media Ltd

Azimut|Benetti Group retained its position as the world’s leading producer of 24m-plus yachts in the latest edition of the Global Order Book, the international ranking compiled by Boat International and based on data from 190 shipyards operating on five continents.

Topping the list of builders of 24m-plus yachts for the 26th successive year, Azimut|Benetti Group maintained its shipyard leadership in total length of under construction (5,924m) and units under construction (163). The Group’s 24m-plus builds average 36.3m in length and represent 23 per cent of the global market considered by the Global Order Book.

Fellow Italian builder Sanlorenzo (including sister brand Nautor Swan) is second on the list with a total length of 4,698m (130 yachts), while there’s a large gap in total length before Lürssen (Germany), Feadship (Netherlands) and The Italian Sea Group (Italy), whose builds have a much higher average length.

In a ranking of top countries by volume (gross tonnage), Italy tops the table with 240,560GT (568 yachts) followed by the Netherlands (107,796GT; 66 yachts), Turkey (82,383GT; 141 yachts) and Germany (78,651GT; 18 yachts).

AZIMUT|BENETTI GROUP SERVICE DIVISION

Meanwhile, Azimut|Benetti Group has announced its Service Division, which is led by Massimiliano Casoni and builds on the legacy left by the late Paolo Vitelli, who acquired refit shipyard Lusben (2000), founded styling and art advisory studio Yachtique (2008), and developed marinas as destinations for yacht tourism.

Created in response to owners seeking operational simplicity, immediacy, intelligent solutions and greater freedom of use, the Azimut|Benetti Group Service Division has been described by the shipyard as “an ecosystem designed to ensure peace of mind – the intangible new paradigm of luxury”.

Collaborating with specialist partners to walk the owner through every stage of the journey, the Service Division covers end-to-end solutions ranging from administrative management to innovative usage formulas, and from technical services to tailor-made experiential packages.

The three pillars of the division are Protecting Asset Value, Crew Management and Owner Experience.

Protecting Asset Value is focused on controlling running costs and preserving a yacht’s value over time, with a programme combining preventive maintenance, AI-based and other predictive systems, and warranty extension. The practical benefits are fixed maintenance costs, worry-free performance and mid-to-long term protection of the yacht’s residual value.

The comprehensive Crew Management programme includes selection, continuous training through the Crew Academy, and operational coordination of on-board crew. This service makes a crucial contribution to the quality of the everyday experience, structured around the specific construction and technological features of Azimut and Benetti yachts.

For Owner Experience, Yachtique is the Service Division’s styling and art advisory, where the owner can choose furnishings, fabrics, materials and artworks in conjunction with the designers. After the yacht’s handover, the journey can continue with the concierge service provided by the Group’s global partners or through the Owners Club programme.

In Thailand, the family-owned Port Takola Yacht Marina & Boatyard offers a relaxing base for exploring “old town Krabi charm” along with nearby islands, Railay peninsula and Ao Nang town.

“There, that’s where we will soon have the superyachts,” says Polawat ‘Matthew’ Na Nagara, owner and General Manager of Port Takola Yacht Marina & Boatyard in Krabi, along Thailand’s southwest Andaman Sea coast.

The genteel boatsman points past existing docks where a few dozen premier sailboats, mid-sized boats and fishing pleasure craft are moored. There is an expanse of calm waters with flashes of silvery seabass leaping about, framed with rolling, grassy embankments and a verdant, high canopy jungle peppered with coconut palms.

“This is my home and a slice of paradise. I never need to travel anywhere,” says Matthew, who is past Chairman of the Thai Yachting Business Association (TYBA).

Nestled across 100 acres of family property, going back to his grandfather’s coconut oil plantation, Port Takola is situated close to the mouth of the rivers that run through and around Krabi town.

The family-owned marina presently has 50 berths, with expansion in progress for 150 berths with stable 3m of minimum depth at all tides. It has a standing dockyard for repairs and that can lift boats up to 38 tonnes. The expansion of the marina features extra-wide concrete pontoons to accommodate yachts from 10m to 45m.

In 2026, Port Takola is set to launch a new marina clubhouse called the ‘Capitainerie’, which includes a 15m-long swimming pool. The single-storey building will feature a Thai architectural blend of “traditional heritage with modern functionality” and include a marina office, bathrooms and a meeting room.

“Many people don’t know about us or Krabi, thinking mainly of Phuket for sailing and yachting,” Matthew remarks. “But we’re happy to be changing that with ongoing upgrades and expansion here.”

ACROSS FROM PHUKET

Just 30nm east of Phuket across the Andaman Sea, Krabi has seen an uptick in interest for family travel from Europe, South Asia and the Middle East, bringing luxury appetites for quieter and pristine getaways in stunning nature. Renovations at the Krabi International Airport, which now features a third terminal, mean it has the capacity to accommodate 4 million to 8 million passengers per year.

“We can see ourselves leveraging new customers who can fly here in about 6½ hours directly from Dubai without the need to land in Bangkok or Phuket first. Singapore is about 1hr 50m away by plane,” he says.

Port Takola currently has 50 berths and is in its next phase of expansion

“We also welcome the regional boom of yachting and sailing in Phuket for taking trips here or coming in for boat servicing. There is so much to do here in Krabi province, which has over 150 islands and islets alone.”

To get a feel for the surrounding area, my host takes me southwest of Krabi in a sports boat to visit several small islands including Koh Poda and Koh Kai (chicken island), ringed by white powdered sand and ideal for diving and snorkelling due to their turquoise waters with multicoloured fish.

They also offer stunning frames of a horizon dotted by the karst limestone islands that this region is famously laden with.

Heading back north to the mainland, we moor at Railay Beach on the famous Railay peninsula, southeast of the bustling beach town of Ao Nang.

“Even though this is a peninsula, the beaches and its caves and rock climbing can only be reached by sea,” Matthew says. “We envision our expansion for superyachts at Port Takola with concierge and boutique services to pristine natural spots like this, which are popular for couples or families.”

Families and young students cavort through a path cutting through towering rock formations, ending at a beach with rock climbing ropes and training, as we take in the sun-kissed scenery.

Railay, a peninsula east of Ao Nang, is an iconic beach and rock climbing destination, only accessible by water

In many ways, Krabi will be able to balance nature with the more mature travellers who are coming, he says. It’s no longer purely backpackers and budget travellers inspired by the likes of The Beach movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Regionally, Thailand’s Andaman Sea coast is also seeing more private yachts for hire, with luxury cruises that feature exquisite seafood dining arranged by concierge services.

Visitors can enjoy crystal-clear water around Krabi

With regular regattas and other major boating events in Phuket, Matthew is confident that growing awareness through word of mouth will result in more people trickling over from the island for more exclusivity and privacy in the Krabi area without compromising standards of service.

LAID-BACK THAI CHARM

In fact, current customers at Port Takola include business executives from Singapore and Bangkok, as well as affluent retirees from Europe, Australia and the US.

The new Central Krabi mall has elevated shopping options in the area, while both Krabi and Ao Nang are honeycombed with restaurants running the gambit seaside glamour to alley-way authentic, whether traditional or modern Thai, European, Middle Eastern, Japanese or Korean.

Port Takola offers a relaxed vibe

There are also dozens of Indian and South Asia restaurants currying up distinction in the foodie scene. Guests can also luxuriate in traditional Thai massage and wellness treatments, including local saltwater spas.

At present, there are more than a dozen boats in Port Takola’s 10,000sqm dry-berth maintenance area, which is set to expand to 15,000sqm and include a boat lift that can carry 60 tonnes. This upgrade will include a 25m boatshed plus ancillary support businesses for diving and fishing, plus homes for proper seaside living.

“We are planning to build residential properties here for coastal living,” he says, pointing to a grassy plateau overlooking the harbour, which is graced by a statue of the Indian god Ganesha atop a classic China treasure ship that Admiral Zheng He sailed across the Indian Ocean on in the early 15th century.

On the Port Takola site, the family home created by Matthew’s grandfather has been refurbished

Past it, down a small road with a lake and lush jungle of coconut groves, Matthew has refurbished his grandfather’s family home made of old timber with fresh lacquer and lights as a tribute.

“Both my grandfather and father were in the Royal Thai Navy, so boating is my blood. I want to share old town Krabi charm and the easy-going sea and river way of life here.”

Designing and engineering a yacht is a complex business at the best of times. Throw in an owner’s demands for volume and deck space in a relatively small package, and that task becomes a challenge.

This is what confronted the team behind the 35.31m Lalabe (pronounced la-la-bee) when experienced owners approached them back in 2022 and challenged them to create a project that ported waterside residential living to a yacht suitable for extended, multigenerational family cruising.

The team comprised Van der Valk shipyard, selected for the build, using a round-bilged, fast-displacement aluminium hull developed by Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects, and with Guido de Groot Design taking on everything above the waterline, both exterior and interior.

Lalabe debuted at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2025

Guido de Groot, the studio’s founder, has a strong history with Van der Valk, designing recent builds such as the 34m One (2025), the Hong Kong-based 33m Blue Jeans (2022) and the 34m Lady Lene (2022), which proved an inspiration for Lalabe’s owners.

“We first met the owners at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2022,” begins Guido de Groot. “We were sat on the aft deck of Lady Lene and the clients said that they really liked her aft deck and wanted something similar because they were outdoor people. That desire for a large aft deck became the starting point for Lalabe.”

The aft main deck on Lalabe

That wasn’t all, though. The list of requirements included several elements that seemed incompatible, such as extended outdoor areas but also 299GT of indoor volume in a relatively short overall length.

In addition, there needed to be ample space for a large master suite and four good-sized guest cabins, plus accommodation for eight crew in quarters large enough to ensure they would be happy during extended family stays on board.

The designers and the shipyard have met all these challenges – and then some. Stepping on board Lalabe is to forget her 35m LOA because she offers the facilities, volumes and feel of a much larger yacht.

Overview of the aft sundeck and upper deck, and swim platform

The effect is almost mind-bending, further enhanced by De Groot’s clever exterior styling tricks that disguise the yacht’s volume and front-loaded superstructure, and the seamless blend of inside-outside living achieved in the layout and styling.

“We used graphics and shapes to make the yacht look longer and more elegant, with white and dark style elements inferring a sleeker line,” says Guido de Groot. “Also, all the lines and shapes we used in the sculpted profile curve up at the ends, which make the design look more friendly.”

FAMILY FRIENDLY

That family living was very much central to the project is clear in her build name, Project Samba, which was chosen to reflect the rhythms of life that would be central to the onboard experience for the family.

The main saloon includes a large L-shaped sofa in the forward port corner

“They see this boat as another house,” confirms Paulo Calado, a designer at Guido de Groot Design. “They’re not looking for Lalabe to be a showroom, and that’s reflected in the materials and the layout. They also focused on the practical elements, particularly when considering that the yacht will be enjoyed extensively with children on board.”

That led to several safety features and dictated layout choices, explains Bram Kooltjes, Van der Valk’s Technical Director. “With four generations on board, the owners wanted all the family to be able to gather on the sundeck and for there to be entertainment for all of them up there,” he says.

Motoryacht, superyacht, Van der Valk, Lalabe, Diana Yacht Design, Ginton Naval Architects, Guido de Groot Design

Forward view of the sundeck

“The steering position is perfect for the owner when cruising, with his friends seated at the bar nearby, facing forward. The older children can chill on the sofa while the younger kids enjoy the spa pool, and all the stairways are gated to make sure no children can stray where they shouldn’t! The yacht also features high bulwarks, another child-friendly consideration.”

SOCIALISING AREAS

In place of a tender garage on the aft lower deck, the owners opted for a sizeable and well-equipped beach club with a full sauna.

The indoor beach club includes a sauna

To compensate, Lalabe can be served by a tow-along tender-cum-chase boat that allows for more flexibility. Also, there’s space for two jetskis in the bow – including one forward of a large C-shaped dinette in front of the wheelhouse – but they will only be carried on charters.

The aft main deck or cockpit features the vast yawn of entertaining space that the owners desired, complete with aft seats and an aft-facing sofa, plus an alfresco dining table before the saloon doors.

The extended aft deck means a shorter saloon, but that’s offset by the omission of a formal indoor dining area which De Groot says the family would never use. The loose furniture can serve both inside and outside, giving casual flexibility to saloon and cockpit areas.

Motoryacht, superyacht, Van der Valk, Lalabe, Diana Yacht Design, Ginton Naval Architects, Guido de Groot Design

The aft upper deck offers seating and sunbathing,

The indoor-outdoor focus is further realised on the bridge deck where the upper saloon or skylounge is openable on three sides via large glass doors. Here, a dining table enjoys that semi-alfresco prospect, while there’s also a TV lounge to starboard.

Forward, the bridge – behind which there’s a captain’s cabin – includes guest seating. “The owners, who have driven all their previous yachts, will spend a lot of time here,” De Groot notes.

Accommodation is split between two large VIPs and two twin/double guest cabins (one with a Pullman) on the lower deck, and a generous master suite forward on the main deck complete with office space so the owner can work while enjoying extended stays on board.

Motoryacht, superyacht, Van der Valk, Lalabe, Diana Yacht Design, Ginton Naval Architects, Guido de Groot Design

The skylounge includes formal dining and has sliding glass doors on both sides and aft

Each guest cabin has a sliding bathroom door, meaning the sink areas can be open to the bedroom to confer a greater sense of space. The lower-deck lobby includes a fridge so guests can help themselves to drinks without have to trek up to the main deck or call the crew.

WARM AND HOMELY

The interior style is bright, warm and practical, again reflecting function and homely style rather than over-embellished finishes. “It’s all based on earth tones and terracotta,” Calado says. “We’ve used predominantly oak for the walls and the floor, while suede with visible stitching is a feature that brings a homely and soft feeling to the interior.

Motoryacht, superyacht, Van der Valk, Lalabe, Diana Yacht Design, Ginton Naval Architects, Guido de Groot Design

Forward on the main deck, the master suite includes a sea-facing office to starboard

“As well as select stone and marble for the bathrooms, we used grey high-pressure laminate (HPL) for a feature wall in the main saloon that looks like stucco up close yet is very easy to maintain.”

It’s remarkable that Van der Valk and the design teams have managed not only to create voluminous guest spaces alongside generous outdoor areas but also spacious crew quarters with a mess big enough for them all to sit together for dinner.

Motoryacht, superyacht, Van der Valk, Lalabe, Diana Yacht Design, Ginton Naval Architects, Guido de Groot Design

The stunning master suite has a forward-facing bed

In addition, a professional chef was brought in to assist with the technical design, layout and equipment selection for the galley, which will be in constant use and cater to both family and crew. There are pantries on every level, while dumb waiters were omitted in favour of more storage space.

Underpinning the yacht is the fast, efficient hull that allows for a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 16.5 knots, while still allowing the possibility of transatlantic range at lower speeds.

Motoryacht, superyacht, Van der Valk, Lalabe, Diana Yacht Design, Ginton Naval Architects, Guido de Groot Design

The full-width owner’s bathroom is in the bow

Power comes from twin 1,450hp MAN V12s and the engines are fitted with SCR systems that meet IMO Tier III and EPA 4 environmental regulations. Comfort is enhanced by a double stabiliser installation comprising Humphree fins in tandem with two Seakeeper 40 gyros – a key consideration for a multi-generational family.

Lalabe is proof that clever design and considered styling can marry the needs of family life with the demands of extended cruising in a tidy 35m package. Building a yacht may be complex, but Lalabe is a demonstration of what’s possible. She’s a triumph, a truly delightful place to spend time, and a perfect reflection of the rhythm of life lived on board.

Sarah Flavell, Damen Yachting’s Marketing Manager, said: “Damen Yachting is delighted to return as main sponsor of the Superyacht Lounge. To raise the profile of the regional show, organisers will host promotional events in Jakarta in January, Bangkok in February and Singapore in March, targeting yacht owners, high-net-worth clients, industry leaders and media.

Smooth running with the new AB 95

A star of both the Cannes Yachting Festival and Monaco Yacht Show in 2025, the AB 95 is an adrenaline-pumping yet smooth-running 50-knot addition to an AB Yachts portfolio now offering luxury sport yachts from 80-130ft.

The AB 95 reaches up to 50 knots with three 2,000hp MAN V12 engines

Speed or serenity? It’s a decision that yacht owners often have to make when determining their preferred mode of travel at sea. Fast yachts can be thrilling, but they are usually louder and less comfortable than a slow-going displacement yacht. A world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival, the AB 95 was designed to bridge the gap between high performance and high comfort.

AB Yachts has built its reputation on exhilarating performance, and with 6,000hp and a 50-knot top speed, the AB 95 stays true to the pulse-quickening spirit that shaped its legacy. Yet with an added focus on noise dampening and what the shipyard calls an “almost total absence of vibrations”, the Italian builder aims to redefine what highspeed yachting can feel like.

“Every model in the AB Yachts range has always been defined by speed and high performance,” says Marco Casamonti, Creative Director of Archea Associati, who created the exterior and interior of the AB 95 and likens the company’s design evolution to that of the Porsche 911 – refined over time while staying true to its essence.

The propulsion system includes two steerable waterjets and a central booster

The 28.45m AB 95 slots into the shipyard’s range between the AB 80 and AB 100, explains Giorgio Mattei, Deputy Chairman of Next Yacht Group, AB Yachts’ parent company. “It completes the range with a model that combines the sporty spirit of our smaller yachts with the comfort and space typical of the larger ones,” Mattei says.

For the AB 95, AB Yachts wanted to evolve its design language and onboard experience without abandoning the DNA it has spent more than 30-plus years refining. The AB 95 needed to look fast, feel fast and be fast, without living in service of speed alone.

“Working with Archea Associati, we created a yacht that merges architectural sophistication with AB’s unmatched naval engineering,” Mattei says. “Every detail, from the reverse-angled windshield that expands the flybridge to the seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, is conceived to enhance contact with the sea while ensuring the highest comfort.”

CRUISE AND SPORT

The AB 95 will be available in two versions: cruise and sport. The cruise version was launched first, with the sporty AB 95S due to be introduced in 2026. “The sport version is dedicated to those who appreciate the classic lines and traditional design of AB Yachts,” Casamonti says.

Designed by Archea Associati, the AB 95 has a low profile with a reverse windscreen

One easily identifiable difference between the two, the designer points out, is the windshield. The sport version has the traditional look of a high-performance yacht with a backward-slanted windscreen that conveys its own sense of speed, while the cruise version has a forward slanted windscreen. Not just about style or increasing space in the bow, Casamonti says this choice also speaks to sustainability.

“Traditional windshields, slanted backward, tend to absorb heat and transfer it to the interiors, increasing energy consumption for cooling,” he says. “With this new solution, the AB95 reduces overheating and improves overall efficiency.”

Meeting the need for the boat to “look fast”, the AB 95 boasts an extremely sleek hull that sits low on the water. The exterior needed to be “capable of conveying a sense of speed even when stationary,” Casamonti says.

The yacht is topped by a discreet, helm-free flybridge

The exterior lines have a gentle undulation that’s meant to mimic the movement of water. The long window that runs along the hull from bow to stern was chosen to create a sense of dynamism, as if the glazing represents the motion of a yacht’s wake. Contrasting tones between the hull paint and darker superstructure further stretch the AB 95’s profile, making the yacht appear even more streamlined.

WATERJET POWER

At the heart of any yacht in the AB lineup is its waterjet propulsion, a key attribute that makes AB stand out from other go-fast yacht builders. The AB 95 is powered by triple 2,000hp MAN V12 engines, with two steerable waterjets and a central booster by MJP.

“Waterjets have always been central to the AB Yachts philosophy,” Mattei says. “They offer a unique combination of speed, manoeuvrability, comfort and safety that traditional propulsion simply cannot match.”

A giant sunpad dominates the beach club, with most of it sitting on a high-low central platform that allows access to the garage

Waterjets reduce vibration and noise by eliminating exposed propellers and shafts, which can cause cavitation – the formation and collapse of air bubbles that create rumbling and vibration underwater. By drawing water in and expelling it through a controlled jet, the system delivers smoother thrust with less structural vibration, resulting in a quieter, more comfortable ride at speed.

There’s also a bonus of waterjets requiring a reduced draft compared to external propellers, making it easier for waterjet-powered yachts to cruise and anchor in shallow waters. The AB 95 draws only 1.35m at full load.

But it wasn’t enough for AB Yachts to rest on its waterjet laurels when it came to more cushy seakeeping. The AB 95 also benefits from the Seakeeper 26 stabilisation system, which works at rest and underway, cutting roll dramatically to make the boat feel steadier and more comfortable for guests and crew. And putting a priority on noise dampening and low vibrations was also key to the brief for the interior.

Aft view of the cockpit, which has symmetrical staircases to the flybridge

“The use of ultra-lightweight materials with specialised coverings provides excellent acoustic insulation, delivering an unprecedented level of sound comfort for a sports yacht,” Casamonti states.

CALM INSIDE AND OUT

Step inside, and the AB 95 subverts the usual expectations of a fast yacht. Here, the driving idea is calm, not aggression. The interiors are simple and refined, with a minimal colour palette. White deckheads and panelling complement the darker colours chosen for the furniture and the high-gloss black bar that sits at the forward bulkhead, separating the main saloon from the wheelhouse.

The saloon includes a lounge to starboard, dining area to port and high-gloss bar and galley forward

“The interiors of the AB95 are surprisingly spacious and comfortable, proving that extreme performance and liveability can coexist in perfect harmony,” Casamonti says.

Alcantara – a soft, synthetic, suede-like microfibre material known for its durability – envelops the wooden surfaces, eliminating sharp edges. “This choice is fundamental at high speeds, ensuring smooth and safe movement onboard,” he adds.

The triple-seat wheelhouse is forward on the main deck

For Casamonti, a guiding vision of the interior was to create harmony between the inside and outside living areas on the AB 95, showcased in the use of teak floors continuing from the exterior to the interior. “They are not two separate entities but parts of a single design idea where function and aesthetics merge,” he says.

Forward of the wheelhouse, two staircases clad entirely in teak from wall to floor with curved steps lead to the accommodation below. The teak is also used in a waterfall effect, flowing from the wall behind the wheelhouse into the ceiling of the lower-deck passageway.

The AB 95 is offered with three or four cabins for up to 10 guests, supported by two crew cabins for four crew. A full-beam owner’s cabin straddles the boat amidships.

The master suite (pictured) is midships, complemented by two guest cabins and a forward VIP

Outdoor spaces weren’t any less considered, with two floating carbon-fibre staircases leading from the aft cockpit to the spacious flybridge, which spans the entire roof, while there’s also a foredeck lounge with lots of lounging space. Guests could happily sit in either of these spots and feel the breeze as the yacht flies across the water.

“What defines AB Yachts is not only speed but also the emotion, the thrill of driving a yacht that feels alive under your command,” Mattei says. Equal parts thrilling and composed, the AB 95 proves that speed and comfort can share the same wake.

The 26th Hong Kong International Boat Show (HKIBS) – held from December 4-7, 2025 – featured 25 on-land stands and close to 50 in-water vessels. These included five flybridge motoryachts from 78ft upwards, after a couple of large yachts and other models set for regional premieres were unable to attend due to shipping delays.

Club Marina Cove again hosted the event, which was first held in 1982 and which in recent years has featured a diverse range of yachts representing many of the world’s leading shipyards alongside stands displaying marine toys, yacht components, accessories and services.

Winnie Ng, Club Marina Cove’s General Manager, said that as China’s ‘southern gateway’, Hong Kong – long a vibrant yacht trading and services centre, with a consistently high number of buyers and boating enthusiasts – is an ideal place for the development of marine tourism and yacht economy.

Ng added that the Club is committed to promoting the yacht culture, pooling the resources of the yachting industry, and – with the support of the Hong Kong Boating Industry Association, and government initiatives – to help develop the yacht economy. Along with a Korean boat-show delegation, this year’s free-entry event also attracted visitors from China, Southeast Asia, Europe and Russia.

The opening ceremony, on the early afternoon of the first day, hinted that elements of the event would be pared down, out of respect for the recent Tai Po District fire tragedy.

Eric Noyel, Asiamarine’s founder and CEO, said: “I noticed a very positive revival in interest from Hong Kong-based buyers, a contrast with the prevailing mood of the past two years. It seems the excess from the COVID period has now been digested by the market.

“In addition, an impressive influx from first-time Chinese buyers based in Hong Kong added to the positive sentiment. Congratulations to the organisers for the most productive boat show in the region in terms of quality of visitors.”

The German shipyard is set to deliver the two-helipad superyacht in 2026.

Lürssen, Boardwalk, Bremen, German, Frank Woll, Amy Halffman, 2026

Lürssen, which has been celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, launched the 117m Boardwalk at its Bremen facility in early December, sharing a sequence photos of the superyacht being transported from its shed and into the Weser river.

Boardwalk has two helipads – a certified one on the forward end of the upper or guest deck, plus a smaller one on the aft end of the second-highest deck. Its exterior features include a large, uncovered swimming pool on the aft main deck.

Boardwalk is rooted in tradition, styled with classical lines and timeless design principles created by the design studios of Frank Woll and Amy Halffman,” Lürssen wrote. Frank Woll and Amy Halffman also designed the interiors of the 76.5m Feadship Boardwalk, which was delivered in 2021.

Lürssen stated that the experienced owner has been deeply involved throughout the design process, contributing to everything from the general arrangement and onboard flow to the interior and exterior styling, which includes an elongated bow.

“Designed as a family retreat on the water, Boardwalk has expansive decks and many entertainment areas,” Lürssen continued. “She also features numerous lifestyle features, such as a spacious gym, a putting green and two helipads.

Boardwalk will next undergo final outfitting at the shipyard’s pier ahead of her delivery in 2026.

When Camper & Nicholsons opened its new location in Viareggio earlier this year, it marked an evolution of how the company builds and delivers custom yacht projects and refits. Its new studio in Europe’s shipbuilding heartland brings design development, specification review and project management into one environment, linking concept and build more directly.

Under the direction of Daniela Duck, Group Head of New Build, the division has evolved into a full-service design-to-delivery platform that supports owners through every stage of a project. The Viareggio studio brings clients, the in-house design team and shipyards into the same workflow, allowing projects to move forward with greater speed and ease.

“The goal is to align design ambition with technical execution from day one,” Duck explains. “When the design and technical sides of a project collaborate from the first brief, it sets a clear direction that carries through every stage of the build.”

The approach limits the fragmentation that can occur when a project moves between separate teams. With the same specialists overseeing design development, technical detail and construction progress, decisions remain consistent and information stays intact throughout the build. “We maintain one continuous dialogue from the first sketch to delivery,” says Duck.

DESIGN STUDIO

The new hub combines two office suites and a dedicated materials lounge, where clients can explore nearly 50 partner collections spanning fabrics, marbles, leathers and décor, from silver cutlery and crystal glassware to fine linens. Each session is supported by an in-house digital configurator that renders materials and finishes directly onto a 3D model. Clients can watch their design choices take shape in real time.

“What once required several meetings can now unfold in a single interactive review, whether in Viareggio or remotely,” Duck says. “It’s a practical way to simplify decisions and avoid costly missteps. When clients can visualise their yacht with such clarity, the process becomes faster and far more intuitive.”

This new capability forms part of Camper & Nicholsons’ broader new-build approach. From Viareggio, the division manages new-build and refit programmes end to end, keeping sales, design, technical support and project oversight running in step.

For new build projects, specialists work alongside shipyards and owners from the first sketches through contract, construction and completion. A dedicated new-build sales function feeds directly into the project management team, many of whom have shipyard experience, with a network that extends across Europe’s leading shipyards in Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Turkey.

That technical fluency, Duck believes, is what sets the company apart. “Understanding the logic of a yard allows us to anticipate challenges and make informed recommendations,” she notes. “Our in-house team brings together specialists who understand both the creative and practical sides of yacht construction.”

Bringing both design instinct and a builder’s mindset ensures that every concept is not only beautiful but buildable. It’s a balance that helps owners confidently make decisions throughout the process, while keeping projects on time and on budget. Owners are also free to bring their own designers, with Camper & Nicholsons providing technical, project management or outfitting support as required.

PERSONAL TOUCH

While Viareggio may be home to the company’s New Build division, its scope reaches beyond new construction. Owners with existing yachts can use the digital configurator to reorder bespoke glassware, linens or finishes ahead of the season, while the Camper & Nicholsons design team supports refit projects with both exterior and interior design proposals, modelling new layouts and updating materials.

A dedicated outfitting service adds another layer of personalisation, sourcing everything from furniture and artwork to tableware and accessories. Integrated into the same digital platform as the design configurator, it creates an e-commerce-style environment where clients can browse, select and reorder items with the support of an in-house specialist.

The studio also extends its expertise ashore through Camper & Nicholsons’ partner network, with the first villa project already underway. “Our clients see their yachts as part of a broader lifestyle,” Duck says. “They want continuity between sea and shore, so we’ve expanded our service to include residential projects as naturally as we approach yachts.”

Wherever a project takes shape, Viareggio remains the creative core. Its concentration of specialist artisans, from cabinetmakers and upholsterers to Carrara marble experts and custom furniture ateliers, gives the studio direct access to exceptional craftsmanship. “The strength of the region lies in its network,” Duck notes. “Proximity allows ideas to move quickly from design to prototype to finished piece.”

For owners, the advantages are clear: fewer interfaces, greater transparency, and one accountable partner guiding every stage of a project. “We want clients to feel supported from the first conversation to the first voyage. The new studio lets us do just that.”

In a market where projects often pass between separate hands, this approach closes the gap between imagination and build. The idea that starts the project is the one that reaches the water.
