Fundraiser Concert Extra·Ordinary Stars Is A Different Kind of Stellar

Fundraiser Concert Extra·Ordinary Stars Is A Different Kind of Stellar

The inaugural Extra·Ordinary Stars concert by charity Extra·Ordinary People empowers youths with special needs and of less privileged backgrounds to be fearless with dreams.

Youths have the privilege to wander. They are encouraged to fumble,to trod on multiple paths, to try new things; there are no limitations to exploring how the world works, before one starts to work for the world. All it takes is a teaspoon of courage, but not all youths are equipped with the same-sized spoon to go for the jugular of limitless potential; not all youths get to start this marathon called life with the same starting line.

Pictured above: Wheel Smith

It is having this flexibility in perspective that will set in motion the youth’s truly limitless potential. Kindness is something a world closely connected — but still vastly diverse — needs for harmony, and learning to see our world from “Me” to “We” via the Unleash Your Light global movement, can be the key to harnessing that cross-border synergy, empowering personal and societal transformation. That is what the charity Extra·Ordinary People have been striving to do since July 2017, and with their latest star-studded activation, Extra·Ordinary Stars concert — a fundraiser effort to give youths with special needs and of less privileged backgrounds the training and means to stand on stage, to shine independently alongside a bevy of established artistes.

The differently abled youths will get a chance to perform alongside international artistes like popular magician Cyril Takayama and Taiwanese singer A-Lin, as well as Benjamin Kheng, Glenn Yong, Wheel Smith (seen above), Zanna Phua, Adelyn Koh, John Chan, Isabelle Lim and Daniel Teo. The concert will also feature Cantare Choir, Singapore Raffles Music College, Extra·Ordinary People’s Extra·Ordinary Light Orchestra, among others.

“Individuals with special needs and their families rarely have the inspiration, space, and opportunity to achieve independent living through their dreams. We believe in the transformative power of positivity. Our mission is to create opportunities for everyone. With Extra·Ordinary Stars, we hope the special needs and underprivileged community will be inspired to dream and share their stories,” says Wee Boo Kuan, co-founder and director of Extra·Ordinary People, an IPC (Institution of a Public Character) charity that provides life-long support to differently abled children and youths. Upon graduating from the Extra·Ordinary People Academy, the organisation continues to provide them with opportunities and assistance towards independence. Now that’s hope, glimmering and glistening with the enthusiasm of youth and possibilites.

There is also a separate effort put together by China Mobile, wherein the first 1,000 concert ticket holders will have access to a special promo plan: 100GB at $10/month. The Unleash Your Light project will also donate 500 China Mobile plans to 500 low-income families for one year as part of this concert’s fundraiser efforts. China Mobile and Unleash Your Light seek to fill the entire Extra•Ordinary Stars concert hall. If the goal of selling out the entire Extra•Ordinary Stars concert is met, Unleash Your Light will sponsor an additional 500 China Mobile plans, raising the total to 1,000 China Mobile plans donated to 1,000 low-income families for one year.

The 100-minute live performance will be held on 1 December 2023 at The Star Theatre. Tickets can be purchased here. The proceeds will be distributed equally amongst the three IPC charity organisations: Extra·Ordinary People, Happee Hearts Movement, and YMCA. There will be a 250% tax rebate with every ticket purchase.

Camper & Nicholsons has announced the appointment of Windie Tsoi as a Sales Advisor, based in Hong Kong. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Tsoi worked for four years at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group before spending almost five years with Simpson Marine, Asia’s largest yacht dealer, initially as a Sales Assistant for Sanlorenzo Asia-Pacific before becoming a Yacht Broker.

In the past year, she spent time in the UAE before returning to Hong Kong, where she will work alongside Julien Solari, Camper & Nicholsons’ Asia Chief Commercial Officer, and the local team.

“Windie is a successful sales broker and had sold many boats including several new Sanlorenzo models in Hong Kong,” Solari said. “Young, dynamic, and driven, Windie is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English, and has a good understanding of Arabic thanks to her recent experience in Dubai. Windie is a great addition to our team and is already working on some deals and listings.”

Supported by Camper & Nicholsons’ global network, Tsoi will be able to assist clients with charter, purchase and commissioning of new build yachts, as well as introduce them to the company’s wider services in yacht and crew management.

The Infynito 90 is Ferretti Yachts’ new explorer-inspired, wide-beam, solar-assisted series featuring eco-friendly materials and an ‘all-season terrace’.

Ferretti Yachts has released details of the Infynito 90, with hull one debuting at the Cannes Yachting Festival before making its way to its owner in Shenzhen in southern China. The model is the first in the Infynito series, which complements the brand’s Flybridge range and features a main-deck view sweeping from stern to bow,  an ‘all-season terrace’ covered foredeck and a skylounge.

Inspired by explorer vessels and designed to cover long distances, the yacht has an overall length overall of 26.97m (88ft 6in) and a beam of 7.33m (24ft 1in).

The design is a collaboration between Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee led by Piero Ferrari and its Engineering Department, with exterior design by architect Filippo Salvetti and interiors by IdeaeItalia, which offers Classic and Contemporary décors.

The model features Ferretti Sustainable Enhanced Architecture (FSEA), a package of environmentally friendly cruising solutions. These include an integrated system that stores the solar energy collected by photovoltaic panels on the superstructure (producing up to 7.3kW) in a 120 kWh lithium battery pack, which provide eight hours of autonomy at anchor with no emissions and no noise.

In terms of energy efficiency, this means an 80 per cent saving on fuel and a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions during typical average use of the yacht from a European boating season from May to September, according to Ferretti Yachts.

Green materials include natural and bamboo fabrics, regenerated leather and recyclable materials, ecological water-based paints and lamellar teak with FSC 5 certification used throughout the exteriors.

The transom can access a longitudinal garage that can house a Williams DieselJet 415 tender. The main deck starts with a 34sqm aft cockpit, which can be decorated with free-standing furniture or a panoramic sun pad combined with a formal dining area.

The interior is offered in three configurations. The first unit features a total open space fitted out with an aft saloon with two facing sofas, a country kitchen midships and a dining area forward with a large table seating eight. A more formal version includes an enclosed galley, while a third layout features a full-beam master suite forward.

Electrically operated windows open the interior to the all-season terrace, which features a sun pad in the forepeak. On the first unit, the terrace is fitted out with a Jacuzzi surrounded by sofas, while alternatives include a cocktail bar and four chairs, or a series of sun loungers. The hard top is available with fixed glass or tilting glass louvres, as installed on the first unit.

The upper deck has a skylounge featuring a lounge and TV, while the helm station can be closed off or open. The open aft deck can be configured with free-standing furniture to create a sunbathing and alfresco dining area.

The lower deck can offer up to four en-suite double cabins (master, VIP and two twins), while the crew quarters include three berths in two cabins, a double bathroom and a dinette.

The yacht has a fast displacement hull, while engine choices comprise two 1,550mhp or 1,800mhp MAN V12 engines, offering a range of up to 1,400nm at 10 knots and a top speed of 22 knots with the upgraded options.

Ferretti Yachts has custom designed a RINA-certified fire-safety system for the lithium battery pack in the engine room, in two watertight steel containers fitted with temperature-monitoring sensors. If a potential fire is detected, the control unit activates a pump that sends seawater directly into the battery racks. Separate from the fire system, a ventilation system helps cool the battery temperature.

Azimut has revealed initial details and images of the Seadeck 9, the largest model in a series that will start with the Seadeck 6 in 2024 and be followed by the 7 and 8 models. The Italian builder says its first line of hybrid motor yachts introduces a new ‘gentle’ era for the shipyard as it focuses increasingly on environmental sustainability.

Like its smaller sister models, the Seadeck 9 features exterior design by Alberto Mancini and interiors by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, with the series marking the latter’s debut in the yachting world.

Azimut, Seadeck, 6, 7, 8, 9, Alberto Mancini, Matteo Thun, Antonio

The Seadeck 9 also features the range’s signature ‘fun island’. The cascade of terraces offers 60sqm of surface area on three levels starting with the aft main deck, which includes an integrated pool flanked by two sunbeds that can slide to cover it. Three steps down is a full-beam deck closer to the water and a further level is offered by a hydraulic, retractable swim platform.

“The combined space is an unparalleled design masterpiece, whose elements transcend their individual functions to evoke, as a whole, the aspiration for a world of sharing, nature and freedom,” Azimut stated.

The shipyard has described the Seadeck models as its most efficient to date and new ‘ambassadors’ of its Low Emission Yacht fleet. According to Azimut, Seadeck features technological solutions that potentially reduce CO2 emissions by up to 40 per cent in an average year of use, both cruising and at anchor.

The Alberto Mancini-designed superyacht includes special features introduced on the 26M and 36M, plus M2atelier’s first interior for Azimut.

Azimut has revealed designs for the Grande 30M, the fourth model in the Italian builder’s superyacht series to feature an Alberto Mancini exterior but the shipyard’s first yacht to feature an interior by Milan-based M2atelier. The enclosed flybridge motor yacht is expected to debut in 2025 and orders include a hull sold by regional dealer Marine Italia to a Hong Kong client.

The exterior design includes the Deck2Deck™ Terrace and Infinity Skydeck, which were introduced on the Grande 26M and ‘semi-walkaround’ Grande 36M respectively, both launched in 2022. The Grande 30M’s skylounge has sliding doors on the port and starboard sides as well as aft, plus a ‘full-walkaround’ upper deck that runs flush from the stern to a bow featuring a spa pool.

The Deck2Deck™ Terrace is incorporated on the main deck, where the cockpit can be expanded aft when the teak garage door is raised to a horizontal position.

Azimut, Grande, superyacht, 30M, Alberto Mancini, Marine Italia, Hong Kong, Deck2Deck™ Terrace, Infinity Skydeck, Grande 26M, Grande 36M, M2atelier, Marco Bonelli, Marijana Radovic, Low Emission Yachts

M2atelier, an architecture and design studio founded by Italian Marco Bonelli and Serbian Marijana Radovic, has used interior language that draws from different fields, ranging from residential to contemporary art.

The wide-ranging influences have helped create fluid and informal spaces “to be lived and used in great relaxation and freedom, where time passes slowly and where the perception of light is the heart of the experience”.

Features include large, floor-to-ceiling windows and an “ethereally light” internal staircase forward of the dining area that allows light to descend from the upper to main deck. The chosen materials adhere to Azimut’s desire for a “sustainable minimalism” attentive to people’s wellbeing and respect for the environment.

The Grande 30M is one of Azimut’s Low Emission Yachts, which now account for more than half of the brand’s models. Low Emission Yachts have 20-30 per cent less consumption and CO2 emissions than similar-size models with hard-chine hulls and traditional shaft line.

The yachts’ improved fuel economy is a result of three key factors: reduced weight due to extensive use of carbon-fibre, increasingly efficient hulls, and innovative propulsion such as the POD system installed on the Grande 30M.

The shipyard unveils the fourth model in its CLB series, with the inventive Jozeph Forakis design featuring an enticing beach club and moveable indoor dining table.

CL Yachts has released the design of CLB80, which fits between the shipyard’s best-selling CLB72 (click for Review) and the series-flagship CLB88 (click for Review), and is the shipyard’s second model to offer an aft-galley layout, following the entry-model CLB65 (click for Review). Production of the first CLB80 is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2024.

Jozeph Forakis has designed the exterior and interior of CLB80, having also designed the inside and outside of the brand’s flagship CLX96 (click for Review). For the new model, the designer’s mission was to preserve the brand’s distinctive DNA while infusing the overall concept with a more streamlined, sporty aesthetic.

CL Yachts, CLB80, Jozeph Forakis, CLB65, CLB88, CLB72, CLX96

The exterior includes new ‘boomerang’ aft fashion plates and a straight line from the sky lounge windscreen to the bottom of the main-deck windscreen. Each side of the hull features two strips of parallelogram-shaped glazing, while new features include stepped windows that increased visibility and natural light in the social spaces.

Like CLB88, the yacht has an enclosed sky lounge on the upper deck, while layout options include the galley situated forward or aft on the main deck.

CL Yachts, CLB80, Jozeph Forakis, CLB65, CLB88, CLB72, CLX96

Exciting new features include a spectacular beach club with a large swim platform leading to a room offering a waterside indoor-outdoor experience. Accessed by a transom door with vertical windows, the interior offers ocean views and sea breezes, and can be customised to suit the preferences of owners.

The initial design includes a galley, concealed TV and utility wall serving as a versatile storage area for water toys and accessories. Theres also an adjustable-height table for dining, drinks or the base of a sunbed. The room can also serve as a crew area if/when not used by guests.

CL Yachts, CLB80, Jozeph Forakis, CLB65, CLB88, CLB72, CLX96

CL Yachts believes the aft-galley layout shown on the initial images on CLB80 enhances the overall dining experience while creating a family-friendly atmosphere that effortlessly bridges the interior and exterior”. The setup allows those in the galley to engage with guests, both in the indoor dining area and the aft cockpit through an electrically operated up-down aft window.

When not in use, the dining table can even be slid aft against the adjacent galley to become a high bar counter or a side table, opening the central area for entertaining.

CL Yachts, CLB80, Jozeph Forakis, CLB65, CLB88, CLB72, CLX96

Forward is the main saloon with a C-shaped sofa to port, while to starboard is a see-through floating sky lounge staircase above the lower-deck staircase.

The minimalistic elegance” of the interior design includes modular FRP pods that serve as integral elements defining interior spaces and functions, such as framing windows and the beds or integrating vanity desks and settees. The décor includes fluted oak panels throughout and glossy, high-quality marble accents.

CL Yachts, CLB80, Jozeph Forakis, CLB65, CLB88, CLB72, CLX96

Both the sky lounge and main saloon feature electrically operated up-down windows, enabling ventilation and an open connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces.

The sky lounge can contain the yacht’s sole helm station and an open lounge area with seating on three sides, and cabinets port and aft. Outside, the open sky deck serves multiple functions, doubling as both a barbecue area and an outdoor bar.

CL Yachts, CLB80, Jozeph Forakis, CLB65, CLB88, CLB72, CLX96

The aft deck is also equipped with a high-capacity davit for deploying water toys and tenders. Meanwhile, outdoor areas also include the foredeck, which has a luxurious sunbed that converts into a forward-facing cocktail lounge.

The lower deck includes four ensuite cabins including a full-beam master stateroom midships featuring generous hull windows.

CL Yachts, CLB80, Jozeph Forakis, CLB65, CLB88, CLB72, CLX96

The V-berth VIP suite in the bow features an overhead skylight, while there are two more guest cabins. The lower deck also accommodates two crew cabins between the engine room and the beach club. www.clyachts.com
