Fairline’s newly configured F//Line 33

Fairline will unveil the 2021 edition of its F//Line 33 for the first time at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, which will be held from September 7-12. The British builder’s display will also include four Targa sports cruisers – a 45 Open, a 45 GT – a model recently sold into China by Simpson Marine – a 50 Open and the range’s flagship 65.

However, much of the attention will be focused on the new F//Line 33, a model designed by Fairline collaborator Alberto Mancini and first unveiled in Cannes in 2019, showing off a top speed of 48 knots with its upgraded engine options.

The new cockpit features a C-shaped sofa and adjustable backrests

This year, the model has been redeveloped with a new cockpit layout, which provides both sunbathing and seating options simultaneously. The layout features C-shaped seating to the starboard side with the aft backrest doubling up as a headrest for the two-person sunbed. The cockpit will comfortably seat four to six people around a teak table.

There is also an optional cantilever pedestal, which stows the table behind the seat cushions when not in use. A wet bar to the port side includes a fitted sink and folding tap as standard and can be upgraded to include a fridge and electric griddle, with a drawer icemaker in the seat base opposite.

The F/Line 33 is also available with outboard engines

Other new options include a hard top, an electric hob and sink below deck and up to two 12-inch Garmin touchscreen displays at the more spacious helm.

Peter McNulty (Leader, Issue 56), CEO of Fairline, said: “We’re looking forward to showcasing this new-layout F//Line 33 at Cannes Yachting Festival this year. Having taken onboard feedback from customers to further improve upon this category-defining weekender, with this practical new layout we have answered every question asked of us while still retaining the F//Line’s exhilarating performance and award-winning pedigree. We can’t wait to hear what visitors to the stand think.”

Jeanneau unveils new flagship

The French shipyard is developing a new flagship sailing yacht that builds on the exterior and interior options available on the 60 launched earlier this year.

Jeanneau is developing a flagship Jeanneau Yachts 65 that is set to be launched at Groupe Beneteau’s Monfalcone facility in Italy by the end of the year. Like the Jeanneau Yachts 60 launched earlier this year, the 65 is designed by Philippe Briand with interior styling by Andrew Winch of Winch Design.

The leisure version features a hard top

Also like the 60, the model features Jeanneau’s walk-around deck and is offered in two versions. The performance version has an open cockpit, fixed attachment for the mainsheet and high-performance rigging choices. The leisure option includes a mainsail arch with a hard top, a self-tacking jib and an outdoor galley.

The leisure version’s aft bench doubles as an outdoor galley

Twin helms are located far aft, close to the winches, allowing space for a large cockpit. Forward of the two large storage lockers are two cockpit tables, which can be electrically lowered to transform the area into a sundeck. Aft, the transom converts into a big swim platform with access to the tender garage.

The interior benefits from 12 deck hatches, complemented by an additional hatch in the sail locker or skipper’s cabin, which provide “a level of light and ventilation that is unique aboard a monohull”, according to Jeanneau.

The transom doubles as a swim platform

There’s a choice of four accommodation layouts including a two-cabin version with owner suites fore and one aft. Three-cabin options include the owner’s cabin forward or aft, while there’s also a four-cabin option.

Midships is an open C-shaped galley to port, while forward the saloon features a C-shaped sofa and a dining table to starboard and a sofa to port. The woodwork in teak or white oak, both open-pore, are matched with a choice of floorboards and a wide selection of leather upholsteries.

The French shipyard has revealed details of the upcoming X60, the second model in the new X-Line and smaller sister of the brand’s ground-breaking X70.

The Prestige X60 will debut in February 2022

Prestige has unveiled the details and images of its upcoming X60, which will debut at the Miami International Boat Show from February 16-20, 2022.

Only the second model in the French builder’s X-Line, the X60 is the smaller sister of the X70 (Review, Issue 57), whose pioneering design included no side decks on the main deck. The X60 is also by Garroni Design and features just one full-length side deck, to port.

A sliding door opens to the one side deck

Erik Stromberg, Director of Prestige Product Marketing, said: “We created this concept that is inspired by new ways of living: with more space, a closer connection to nature, and a life centred around sharing with family and friends.”

The long cockpit can also fit a dining table

Like the X70, the X60 features a much longer cockpit that its competitors, with the builder saying the space is 40 per cent larger than on a classic 60-footer. The infinity cockpit features an island sun lounger with adjustable backrests while a dining table is an additional option.

The aft flybridge can be used in multiple ways

The builder also describes the flybridge as 30 per cent larger than on a traditional 60-footer. The flybridge features L-shaped seating starboard of the twin-seat helm station, an outdoor galley and central dining table, while the aft area is available with either sun beds, an island sun lounger or facing sofas.

The foredeck sunpads have adjustable backrests

The foredeck has facing sunbathing areas with adjustable backrests that can convert them into sofas, while the beach club has a drop-down sofa, shower and independent sound system.

The saloon can be opened aft and to port

The saloon has sliding doors aft and to port, facing sofas and a dining table, while forward is a large open galley, the helm to starboard and a corner sofa to port. The lower deck features a full-beam master cabin midships with its own private stairways from the aft end of the saloon, a VIP en-suite cabin in the bow and a twin to port with the option of an en-suite bathroom.

Forward is the galley, helm and corner sofa

Interior decoration is by Valentina Militerno, whose creative interior design is featured in luxury villas and who also worked on the X70. Furnishings and materials have been selected from prestigious brands and include Duvivier sofas, Roda exterior furniture, Foglizzio leather and Bowers & Wilkins audio systems.

The starboard side deck starts forward of the saloon

Powered by two Cummins 600hp engines (shaft propulsion or ZEUS pod propulsion), the X60 is expected to have a cruising speed of 20-21 knots. The X60 is equipped with Ship Control and options include a Seakeeper gyrostabiliser.

The limited Asian participation in the 49th Rolex Fastnet Race has increased following the entry of Milai in the Class40 division as her three-strong crew prepare to compete in the 2022-23 Globe 40 round-the-world race.

A record fleet of over 450 boats are expected to compete in this year’s Rolex Fastnet, which starts in Cowes on August 8 and will conclude for the first time in France. The new finish in Cherbourg – instead of Plymouth – extends the course from 608nm to 695nm.

Masa Suzuki and Koji Nakagawa will race the Rolex Fastnet for the first time

Early entries with an Asian connection included Japan’s Hiroshi Kitada, who returns to the UK with his Pogo S3 Kiho as he competes in the popular Class40, which featured 41 entries as of mid-June.

US-based Hiroshi Nakajima will skipper Hiro Maru – a Sparkman & Stephens 49 launched in 1971 as Scaramouche – in IRC 3 again after making their Rolex Fastnet debut in 2019, fresh from winning their class in the Transatlantic Race from Newport to Cowes.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong-flagged Double Edge, a Corby 38 owned by Chris Schram, will compete in IRC Two-Handed, a hugely popular class with 89 entries by June.

Masa Suzuki completed the Mini Transat in 2019

However, Milai was a relatively late addition to the line-up and will feature Japanese duo Masa Suzuki and Koji Nakagawa with French sailor Anne Beaugé, who manages the 2010-built Pogo S2 from its base in Lorient, France.

Team Milai was formed after Suzuki and Beaugé, both accomplished solo sailors, finished the Mini Transat in 2019. Nakagawa, a businessman based in Japan with a strong sailing background, then approached the pair about creating a team to race around the world in the Globe 40.

Team Milai, Rolex, Fastnet, Race, Masa Suzuki, Koji Nakagawa, Anne Beaugé, Class40, Pogo S2

“The Rolex Fastnet is legendary, part of the history of sailing,” says Suzuki

Suzuki said: “We’re competing in the Rolex Fastnet Race for the thrill of a great event that features so many boats and classes. We aim to finish safely, have fun on the water and develop our skills on the boat as we aim to qualify for the Globe 40.

“The Rolex Fastnet is legendary, part of the history of sailing. It’s an interesting mix between sailors from the UK and France and elsewhere, and between professionals and amateur sailors. The starting line looks to be a challenge itself along with the strong current in the English Channel.”

Zoë d’Ornano – the 12-year-old daughter of Malaysia-born Lay Koon Tan – is set to become the Rolex Fastnet Race’s youngest competitor in August when she competes with her parents on one of the Tall Ships Youth Trust’s two Challenger 72s in a record 450-plus entry list.

Polish builder Sunreef has revealed plans for a range of catamarans featuring a new ‘level’ – a full-beam lower deck created by bridging the two hulls.

Sunreef’s new line will range from 60-90ft

Sunreef Yachts has shared layouts from a new range of 60-90ft luxury catamarans that offer “extreme living space” by taking a fresh look at catamaran design over the past three years.

The most notable developments include the creation of a large amount of additional living space by creating a lower-deck ‘bridge’ linking the two hulls, so creating full-width living spaces on three instead of two levels.

Plans reveal a full-beam lower deck

The GAs showed the aft part of the lower deck containing a lateral starboard garage for a RIB and jetski, the galley and crew quarters, while forward are four double guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms. Aft is a multi-level beach club.

With an innovative main deck design, the saloon features full-height glazing and opens wide onto the sides and the lounging area of the aft cockpit. All living spaces can be fully customised.

Francis Lapp, founder and President of Sunreef Yachts, said: “Innovation is the core of the Sunreef Yachts philosophy. It is the source of all our concepts and creations. Conor McGregor revealed his new yacht on Tuesday when he posted ‘My Lamborghini yacht is ready’ with a photo of the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 being wheeled out of the production sheds.

The Irish MMA star is one of the world’s most recognisable and outspoken sports stars and is currently recuperating from an operation on an injured ankle sustained in his UFC fight against Dustin Poirier earlier this month. He was named by Forbes as the world’s highest-earning athlete for the 12 months up to May 1, 2021.

The Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 recently hit the water

McGregor’s yacht features a gold and black hull. Announced last year, the sleek motor yacht was developed by Lamborghini and Tecnomar, with its design influenced by the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 supercar.

Featuring twin MAN V12 2,000hp engines, the 63-footer is Tecnomar’s fastest model and expected to reach 60 knots. The use of carbon-fibre material – typical of Lamborghini super sports cars – enables the ultra-lightweight yacht to weigh just 24 tonnes.

The yacht’s super sporty exterior is characterised by a sporty silhouette, with an aerodynamic hardtop is inspired by Lamborghini roadsters. The hull and superstructure are created from a high-performance shell developed by naval engineers specialising in hydrodynamic sciences.

Two units of the restyled Ferretti Yachts 780 are scheduled to arrive in Singapore in August and September through local dealer Hong Seh Marine, which completed the ‘remote’ sales last year.

The original 780 was launched in 2017, but the model has been redesigned following the stylistic hallmarks introduced by the Ferretti Yachts 500 that launched last year and the brand’s flagship 1000 that premiered at this year’s Venice Boat Show.

The 500 and 1000 are the brand’s first models to feature interiors by IdeaeItalia, which worked with Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee and Engineering Department on the new-look 780 to “align it with the family feeling of the new fleet”.

The new features introduced by the restyling range from the extensive glazed surfaces in the hull, giving the yacht an even sportier look, to the new layout and decor of the flybridge, with a larger central bar area in the standard layout.

The aft section of the spacious flybridge is furnished with sun loungers and poufs, while the area sheltered by the hard top has a dining area on the left and a new bar unit on the starboard side facing a multifunctional space in which a dining area with a low coffee table can be transformed into a rear-facing sun pad. The external helm station on the port side features the new Poltrona Frau seat.

All the exterior furnishings, such as a modular sofa for the dining area and the armchairs in teak and batyline fabric, are from the collection customised by Roda exclusively for Ferretti Yachts.

INTERIOR RESTYLE

The major redesign of the interiors introduces several highly appreciated new features found on the latest models in the range, including a choice of two decor moods: Classic, with warmer and more traditional colours; and Contemporary, a more urban and modern look with cooler colourways inspired by Taormina in Sicily. The two units for Singapore will feature a Contemporary interior.

On entering the lounge on the main deck, big glazed surfaces surround a living area furnished with a freestanding L-shaped sofa and a Living Divani coffee table facing a 65-inch TV. Behind it, the dining area seats up to eight people around a table with a Silk Georgette marble top and dark green leather chairs.

Midships, a sliding door on the left provides access to the lower deck, while the new galley on the starboard side is a multifunctional space available in three configurations: closed; with a fixed glass partition; or with a sliding glass partition that reveals a bar counter. A day head is another option.

On the lower deck, the standard guest area layout includes four cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms, although there’s an option to replace the owner’s cabin with an entertainment room. The cabins reprise the design of the lounge, with walnut wood and a greater emphasis on stainless steel surfaces, plus flush doors and fine fabric cladding on the walls and ceilings.

Other visual and tactile high points are the beige and pale grey lacquered ribbing on the furniture, the dark green Lealpell leather upholstery, and design objects by Poltrona Frau. The Gentili Mosconi Home Collection of fabrics for Ferretti Yachts includes a selection of custom-made components created in precious natural fabrics.

Twin 1,400mhp MAN engines offer a top speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 24, while optional 1,550mhp versions deliver 31 knots and a cruising speed of 27.

Hong Seh Marine is also selling a pre-owned Ferretti Yachts 780 (2018 build) with Tai He Ban layout through its brokerage department.
