The Group acquired long-time suppliers Il Massello and Canalicchio to strengthen its supply chain and ensure ‘stability and reliability, and insourcing of expertise’.

Ferretti Group acquires two suppliers

Alberto Galassi, CEO, Ferretti Group

Ferretti Group has acquired the majority stake in Massello S.r.l and Fratelli Canalicchio S.p.A, two companies that are part of its supply chain.

Il Massello is based in Fano, close to several of Ferretti Group’s Adriatic coast facilities, and specialises in wooden nautical furnishings, recently launching an innovative onboard assembly service. Canalicchio is based in Narni, north of Rome, and specialises in static exteriors and automatic kinetic systems for yachts.

The two transactions are aimed at improving overall profitability and gaining even more control over the production and procurement phases for Ferretti Group. As of 2021, the combined revenues of the two companies amounted to about €13 million, but Ferretti Group believes the two companies could generate sales of around €30 million by 2025.

Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group, said: “We have finalised these two transactions because the acquisition of control of a strategic supplier ensures stability and reliability, improves industrial performance and insourcing of expertise. We are confident that the upstream integration will allow us to express even more quality and optimise costs and time.”

Amal Yachting, which represents Ferretti Yachts, Riva and Pershing in Taiwan, has secured the sale of a Riva 102’ Corsaro Super, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. The first Riva 102’ Corsaro was launched in La Spezia in May (click for article) and the yacht ordered for Taiwan is hull number five, which will be the first in Asia.

Among several new Riva models launched during the year of the brand’s 180th anniversary, the 102’ Corsaro Super is an update of the 100’ Corsaro, which had its world premiere in Hong Kong in 2017. The 102’ Corsaro Super can reach 26 knots with its standard 2,435mhp MTU 16V 2000 M96 engines, while two 2,638mhp  MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines produce a top speed of 28 knots.

The five-cabin yacht has a length of 30m, a beam of nearly 7m and 100sqm of liveable open-air spaces, with new updates including an upgraded beach club area covering 35sqm. The superstructure and the hull have been completely renewed, and new glass fashion plates aft improve aerodynamics.

The 102’ Corsaro Super features a new beach club and expanded glazing

The new model features over 140sqm of glazing and glass surfaces. The glazing in the owner’s suite has been redesigned and extended to 2m in length, amplifying the sense of space in the widebody configuration and offering views on both sides of the yacht.

Interior innovations include a choice of two saloon layouts. One focused on the dining space has a table for eight aft, while the lounge has views through extensive windows that open onto the lateral walkways. The second layout features the lounge aft and dining space central. Options include special gunwales that swing out on either side of the main deck to create terraces.

The dominant wood inside is Canaletto walnut, with its warm tones set off by satin-effect titanium ceilings or glass surfaces and cool colours.

In celebration of the Singapore Grand Prix, Sunreef Yachts and Hong Seh Marine hosted an intimate evening with two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso, a Sunreef ambassador and owner of an upcoming 60 Sunreef Power Eco.

The event was held at Dolce Vita restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, where VIPs included Dimitri Jansen, Sunreef’s Chief Marketing Officer, and Karim Hamza, Sunreef Sales Representative in the UAE, along with Edward Tan and Della Pearce, Hong Seh Marine’s Executive Director and Director respectively.

Alonso shared his vision of electric yachting, with the F1 star emphasising that he believes Sunreef leads the way in sustainable without compromising luxury.

“Sunreef is the only company that takes sustainability to a very serious level,” Alonso said. “For me, the multihull platform is also important because it provides exceptional comfort, ultimate stability and unlimited possibilities for customisation.”

Alonso commissioned his 60 Sunreef Power Eco last year (click for article), with a public signing at Yacht Club de Monaco, as the Spaniard joined the likes of fellow F1 world champion Nico Rosberg and tennis legend Rafa Nadal as a Sunreef ambassador.

This year, Alonso said in an interview that he was committed to Sunreef’s focus on clean energy and embraced buying his all-electric yacht, admitting that his customised catamaran’s must-haves include a barbecue, top-class audio system and water toys.

The world is moving in this direction. We are more aware and want more sustainability. We have seen important changes over the last years in global mobility, and to me it makes perfect sense to go for an electric catamaran. This type of vessel gives you a closer bond with the seas. The world is going electric and yachts should also follow,” Alonso said.

“Sunreef is known for high quality and has earned a great reputation over the last two decades. I really wanted to build a catamaran because I wanted to enjoy more space and all the other advantages that multihulls bring. At the same time, my vision was to build a luxury craft of the highest quality. Sunreef matched all my requirements in terms of space, catamaran expertise, lifestyle and luxury. It was a no-brainer for me.”

Hong Seh Marine was appointed as Sunreef’s Singapore dealer in August 2022 (click for article). The dealership agreement includes Sunreef Yachts’ full range of sailing and power multihulls and its new Eco range of solar-powered luxury catamarans.

Founded by Francis Lapp in 2002, Sunreef is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year (click for article) following two decades of designing and manufacturing high-end custom catamarans in Gdansk in northern Poland, where it currently builds across two production facilities. Sunreef is also developing a new production facility in the UAE (click for article).

Sunseeker reveals Ocean 460 superyacht

SHARE

The British builder has unveiled its designs for the Ocean 460, a 42m tri-deck superyacht with an asymmetrical beach club and 460GT of interior volume.

The 42m Ocean 460 has an almost vertical bow

Sunseeker International has revealed details of the Ocean 460, whose name references its volume in gross tonnage, a designation also used on the smaller Ocean 182 and Ocean 156 models (click for article).

The Ocean 460 has an overall length of 42m and boasts expansive exterior space and remarkable interior volume, with 460GT particularly spacious for a 138-footer with a 31ft (9.5m) beam. The new superyacht has 25 per cent more interior volume than Sunseeker’s 131 Yacht, while a successful 42m model from a competitor brand has a volume closer to 300GT.

The tri-deck superyacht has a volume of 460GT

The Ocean 460 has a sleek, sporty and futuristic exterior on a round-bilge semi-displacement hull with a vertical bow, the first on a Sunseeker superyacht.

The tri-deck model is available with MAN 12V engines, which can provide a top speed of 21 knots and a range of 3,200nm at a cruising speed of about 12 knots, with a fuel capacity of 24,600 litres or up to 30,000 litres. Optional hybrid options will also be available, with benefits including extended range, a period of silent running or handling the hotel load while at anchor.

The beach club has a fold-down side to port

The asymmetrical beach club is a standout feature and features a hydraulic portside balcony that folds out at the water line to expand the on-water area. Curved seating and an integrated bar can be combined with slot-in bar stools, multiple sun loungers and freestanding furniture, with room for several groups of guests to socialise.

Options include a large rectangular spa half recessed into the deck and a transformer platform that can extend to become boarding steps or submerge to provide easy access to the sea. On the starboard side is a side-opening tender garage that accommodates a Williams DieselJet 625, two jetskis and more toys.

The saloon on the main deck

Curved portside steps lead to the main deck, which offers space for alfresco dining. Double doors slide open to welcome guests to a spacious lobby and interiors created by Design Unlimited and Sunseeker’s in-house interior design team.

The interior starts with the main saloon while the formal dining area is midships. A starboard hallway leads to the central feature staircase that links the lower, main and upper decks. Forward on the main deck is the full-beam master suite (or VIP suite), an open-plan, one-level space with full-height glazing.

Full-beam master suite forward on the main deck

Features include dedicated office space, a luxurious ‘couture’ walk-in wardrobe, vanity desk and a forward en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath. Owners can opt to make this very light and subtle or incredibly dramatic with considered recessed lighting and stunning light and dark natural stone, woods and opulent textures.

Side decks on the main deck lead to steps that head up to the foredeck, which is on the same level as the upper deck and has seating and sunpads in a hexagonal layout, while a spa tub is among options.

The upper deck can include a lounge or master suite

The upper deck interior can be customised to offer either a spectacular large saloon or a ‘penthouse-style’ master suite, with the open aft deck acting as a vast private veranda. Forward is the wheelhouse, an optional captain’s cabin and a day head.

The sun deck offers multiple arrangements with options for a spa tub, wet bars, dining and social spaces with free-standing modular or bespoke furniture.

The lower deck includes four guest cabins

On the lower deck, guest accommodation consists of four equally sized en-suite double or twin guest cabins. The crew quarters include four comfortable en-suite bunk cabins, a large crew mess and dedicated laundry room.

The Ferretti Group brand has developed the wallywind130 and wallywind150, with the latter boasting a remarkable aft owner’s suite with seaside terrace.

Wally has released the first renderings of its wallywind130 and wally150 sailing superyachts, which follow the announcement that the first wallywind110 is under construction.

Luca Bassani, who founded Wally in 1994, heads the brand’s in-house design team, which has developed the new models with Germany’s Judel/Vrolijk for naval architecture and Italy’s Santa Maria Magnolfi for the interiors.

Wally, wallywind130, wallywind150, sailing, yacht, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, Judel/Vrolijk, Santa Maria Magnolfi, terrace on the sea, TiketitanWallywind130

Both models are entirely built in carbon-fibre composite, so are light enough to start sailing in light winds and have huge speed potential. True to Wally tradition, the models have a clean, sleek exterior with a sheerline that runs from the plumb bow to the open ‘terrace-on-the-sea’ transom, dipping at the last moment.

The foredeck is totally free of obstacles or features that could challenge the eye, while the low profile, glass-set coachroof barely troubles the exterior lines.

Stefano de Vivo, Managing Director of Wally, said: “Wally is re-affirming its sailing roots with the launch of these designs. Alongside the wallywind110, the wallywind130 and wallywind150 represent the pinnacle of carbon composite construction for blissful cruising and exhilarating racing.

“We liken the boats to the Gran Turismo cars – powerful and supremely comfortable. I believe these are the best round-the-world sailing machines ever created.”

Wally, wallywind130, wallywind150, sailing, yacht, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, Judel/Vrolijk, Santa Maria Magnolfi, terrace on the sea, TiketitanWallywind130 aft deck

The design of the bulwarks is such that the coachroof hides a huge, raised saloon that flows smoothly into the cockpit without a single change in levels.

At least three social zones occupy more than a third of the boat’s length to create an entertaining space that is unparalleled on yachts of this size. Among them is the ‘terrace-on the sea’ that Wally pioneered in 1998 with Tiketitan.

Wally, wallywind130, wallywind150, sailing, yacht, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, Judel/Vrolijk, Santa Maria Magnolfi, terrace on the sea, TiketitanWallywind130 aft deck

Twin helm stations are discreetly positioned just inside the raised bulwarks, with sail controls and navigation displays set midships, although there’s barely a rope to be seen.

Wally’s original Magic Trim system means the main and self-tacking jib are set and adjusted at the push of a button, using hidden hydraulic rams, while there are large, custom-made spinnaker sheet winches on the quarter.

Wally, wallywind130, wallywind150, sailing, yacht, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, Judel/Vrolijk, Santa Maria Magnolfi, terrace on the sea, TiketitanWallywind150 foredeck lounge and tender garage

Beneath the foredeck is a tender well for storing a generously sized tender – up to 4.5m on the wallywind130 and 5m in the wallywind150. On the larger superyacht, this well doubles as a forward guest cockpit that can be converted into a cushion-lined dining area or lounge. In the transom, the hydraulic passarelle stows flush and can be angled up to the quayside or down for elegant access to the water.

The full carbon lay-up ensures exceptional hull stiffness, rapid acceleration and great response on the helm. Full pre-preg vacuum lamination with careful post curing at 85°C ensures flawless lamination and reduced weight.

Wally, wallywind130, wallywind150, sailing, yacht, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, Judel/Vrolijk, Santa Maria Magnolfi, terrace on the sea, TiketitanWallywind130 cockpit

A retractable keel system allows both yachts to switch from performance to shallow-waters cruising mode, while the twin-rudder setup balances fingertip control under way with easy access. A variable pitch propeller provides thrust under power while folding under sail to offer almost no drag.

Bow and stern thrusters round out the manoeuvrability of the new wallywind line, which uses Wally’s underwater anchor launching system to keep the purity of the lines around the bow and move the weight aft to reduce pitching.

Wally, wallywind130, wallywind150, sailing, yacht, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, Judel/Vrolijk, Santa Maria Magnolfi, terrace on the sea, TiketitanWallywind150 saloon

Central to both boats’ design is Wally’s ‘double deck’ layout, which puts the key social areas up under the spectacular coachroof, combining carbon ribs with vast curved panes of glass and delicately lit panels. The result is a panorama that takes in the whole horizon, plus the sails overhead.

Below decks, both the wallywind130 and the wallywind150 offer comfortable accommodation for guests – up to eight in the 130 and 10 in the 150. The 130-footer gives the owner the choice of a cabin forward or right aft, where the broader beam allows facilities including a private TV lounge and a vast his-and-hers bathroom.

Wally, wallywind130, wallywind150, sailing, yacht, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, Judel/Vrolijk, Santa Maria Magnolfi, terrace on the sea, TiketitanWallywind130 saloon

On the wallywind150, the cabin is always aft to provide access to the owner’s private cockpit, which can be left open to maximise alfresco living or closed off to create an indoor/outdoor space between the owner’s quarters and the exterior.

With room for walk-in wardrobes, a private office and multiple seating areas, the breathtaking owner’s suite is more akin to those found on 200ft yachts. The TV or playroom forward can also be easily converted for kids or a nanny to create a fifth cabin.

Wally, wallywind130, wallywind150, sailing, yacht, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, Judel/Vrolijk, Santa Maria Magnolfi, terrace on the sea, TiketitanWallywind150 owner’s area

Bassani, Wally’s founder and Chief Designer, said: “The wallywind150 is the natural evolution of the Wally144 Kauris IV launched in 2020. It includes some Wally iconic features, such as the cockpit protected by the high bulwarks, the terrace-on-the-sea and the raised saloon

“On the other hand, it also introduces a few more revolutionary features such as the forward guest area, which doubles as a tender garage when not in use, a truly private owner’s terrace aft, and a new interior layout to enhance flexibility for the owner.”

Wally, wallywind130, wallywind150, sailing, yacht, Luca Bassani, Stefano De Vivo, Judel/Vrolijk, Santa Maria Magnolfi, terrace on the sea, TiketitanWallywind150 owner’s cockpit

Finish is a matter of taste for the eventual owner, but Wally’s renderings show what can be achieved with the sort of clean, natural styling for which the brand is famous. Teak, fine woods and neutral upholstery combine to create a sense of space, wellbeing and casual sophistication.

Ferretti Group has announced the sales of 85m (CRN M/Y 144) and 70m (CRN M/Y 145) superyachts to be built by CRN at the 77,000sqm Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona.

Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group, said: “Our investments in the large yachts segment are paying off handsomely and I’m pleased to announce the sale of two CRN yachts, one 85m in length and the other 70m.

“We are the only yacht-building Group with a range spanning 8-90m and as a boat lover myself, I really do understand our owners’ enthusiasm when they enter the Ferretti Group boutique. My own eyes also light up when I see our fleet.”

This year, CRN’s launches in Ancona have included the 62m Rio (click for Review, Issue 67) and the 52m Ciao (click for article), which both had world premieres at the recent Monaco Yacht Show and feature exterior design by Dutch studio Omega Architects. The builder’s most recent launch is the 60m all-aluminium M/Y 141 designed by Nuvolari Lenard (click for article).

Damen Yachting has confirmed the sale of the first Amels 80 as well as the sale of another Amels 60, further evidence of the success of the Limited Editions range.

The Amels 80 was announced in early 2022

Damen Yachting has confirmed the sale of the first Amels 80, a model that premiered online this year before building of its hull began in Romania in June. The all-new 80m (261ft) Amels Limited Editions is scheduled for delivery in 2025, with Burgess representing the owner and acting as project manager.

Rose Damen, Managing Director of Damen Yachting, said: “We are incredibly pleased to be sharing the news that the first Amels 80 has sold. This new Limited Editions design really reflects our continuous drive to adapt and evolve to ensure that we continue to reshape our pedigree, experience and knowhow for future generations.

“We very much look forward to continuing the build journey with our client and the team at Burgess. This is a proud moment for everyone who has been involved in the project so far.”

Espen Øino designed the Amels 80 exterior

The Amels 80 features exterior design by Espen Øino and custom interiors by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, the Dutch studio working with Amels for the first time.

Features include a 200sqm (2,153sqft) sun deck, a beach club that opens on three sides and includes wellness and spa areas, huge framed panoramic views over the ocean on main deck, and a dedicated owner’s deck. The yacht has also been designed to carry multiple watercraft and toys, while there is a helicopter landing area on the foredeck.

Øino said: “The Amels 80 is a design that will not age. Her modern strong lines will look as good in 10 years as the day she departs the yard. She is a big ship, full of features, with an impressive interior volume at 2,175GT. She is everything and more that you will expect from an 80m yacht. There is a sense of scale, but nothing is wasted.”

The first Amels 80 is scheduled for delivery in 2025

The Amels 80 sale announcement followed the confirmation of another sale of the Amels 60, a 197ft, 830GT Øino design introduced in 2019. Scheduled for delivery in 2024, the recent sale represents the sixth hull from this new generation of Amels Limited Editions.

Jorrit Pilaar, Damen Yachting’s Sales Manager, worked closely with the new European owner throughout the sales process.

“This latest Amels 60 is a wonderful example of our Limited Editions concept,” Pilaar said. “The owner has been able to step into a new build just a couple of years before delivery and still benefit from the opportunity to make a number of customisations to the yacht to suit his and his family’s needs as a world cruiser.”

The new Amels 60 will feature the same window design as the first hull while a striking colour scheme and minor exterior features such as windbreakers and swim stairs will differentiate her from the Amels 60s to date.

The owner has appointed Winch Design to create the custom interiors, which also include slight modifications to the interior layout to accommodate the owner’s intention to cruise worldwide.

Sunreef Yachts has announced the sale of the 43M Eco, a project announced earlier this year (click for article). The Polish builder has described the 42.7m (140ft) superyacht with a 15.4m (50ft 6in) beam as the ‘world’s biggest electric leisure catamaran’.

The Sunreef 43M Eco is a solar-electric version of the Sunreef 43M (formerly Sunreef 140), a design unveiled late last year, which showcased the model’s spectacular three-sided beach club.

Equipped with composite-integrated solar panels, a hydro-generation system, electric engines and performance sails, the will offer unlimited autonomy and superyacht luxury. Its electric propulsion comes from two 200kW engines, which allow for e-motoring at a cruising speed of 11 knots and a top speed of 14 knots.

The design incorporates a unique alfresco lounging and dining space in the aft cockpit. Below, with the large hydraulic platform lowered and two fold-out bulwark terraces open, the Sunreef 43M Eco creates a vast walkaround beach club, billed as an ‘ocean lounge’.

The 43M Eco has a huge aft cockpit

The relaxation area can be entirely customised and can welcome a drinks bar, gym or a generous storage room for water toys and diving gear. Underneath the aft cockpit, the discreet garage accommodates two jetskis.

The interior décor will incorporate a variety of sustainably-sourced materials and fabrics, while the 43M Eco can accommodate up to 12 guests. The Sunreef 43M Eco will be also equipped with an energy-saving air-conditioning system.

Francis Lapp, founder and President of Sunreef Yachts, announced the sale of the 43M Eco at the builder’s 20th anniversary party in Monaco, where he said most enquiries for new Sunreef catamarans were for solar-electric models from the new Eco range.

Lapp and his son Nicolas, the builder’s Chief Technical Officer, also announced a groundbreaking hydrogen yacht project. Sunreef was recently commissioned to build an 80ft sailing catamaran combining hydrogen power and electric propulsion “to achieve unrivalled autonomy for a new level of eco-conscious cruising”, according to the builder.

Hydrogen will be used to power both the appliances and the catamaran’s engines. The yacht will also use Sunreef’s patented solar-power system with cells fully integrated with the composite bodywork. The company’s R&D department is currently developing a system to use solar power to produce hydrogen on board.

Sunreef exhibited its first Eco sailing catamaran, the 80 Eco Marie-Joseph, alongside an 80 Sunreef Power, Kokomo, at both this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival and Monaco Yacht Show. In Monaco, Marie-Joseph hosted viewings of many VIPs including an official visit of HSH Prince Albert II.

Benetti announced that it expects to launch a record 23 superyachts – almost two a month – from September 2022 through August 2023. In September, the Italian builder launched another B.Now 50M and expects to launch a B.Century 68M next August, as the new series designed by Giorgio Cassetta starts to make its mark.

Marco Valle, CEO of Azimut-Benetti Group, said: “We have invested heavily in R&D in recent years to develop new boats and the results are outstanding. The order backlog is trending upwards, with new model deliveries planned until 2027.”

The B.Now 50M had its world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show, with Sebastiano Fanizza, Benetti’s Chief Commercial Officer, announcing at a press conference that the model has already secured 16 sales to date. The shipyard unveiled designs for the B.Now 60M and the B.Now 67M Oasis, the latter featuring the open aft deck with integrated pool pioneered by the Oasis 40M and now available on multiple Benetti models.

“The B.Now family is a significant achievement for Benetti, comprising 50M, 60M, 67M and 72M models, and is now one of the brand’s bestsellers,” Fanizza said.

Fanizza then presented the evolution of the B.Century family, created in partnership with Cassetta Yacht Designers. Born out of the architecture shared by the likes of the 63m Metis, 65m Zazou, 67m Calex and the 65m Triumph – another world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show – the B.Century family includes a range of models.

Two 55M projects comprise one with a generous sun deck open on all sides and another in which the top deck is transformed into an owner’s deck, with the master suite forward and a private aft terrace. The range also includes 62M, 68M and 75M models, the latter offering a Pool Club on one level and a Sea Club by the water.

“Their distinguishing character trait is the formal clarity of the sweeping lines that describe the yachts’ contours, featuring an uninterrupted flow of lines that define volumes expressing Benetti’s unmistakable stylistic identity,” Fanizza said.

Following the Group’s commitment to low-emission yachts, the B.Now and B.Century families are available with traditional, hybrid or diesel-electric propulsion systems.

Meanwhile, the Group unveiled the 85m Project Oro, also by Cassetta, which features a remarkable exterior design characterised by continuous curves and slats, as well as a multi-level aft area open on both sides.

Cassetta said: “During the development of Project Oro, we wanted to seize the opportunity to express numerous innovative concepts, aspiring to bring them together in a unique yacht.

Benetti 85m Project Oro

“By developing a language of style featuring great visual purity and strong characterisation of the main masses, and by renouncing the criteria of civil architecture in favour of a freer and more fluid approach, we have tried to propel the project into an attainable future.

“We hope the bold content recognises a series of desires that customers in this size range frequently express and are unlikely to have found fulfilled by the boats they have looked at so far.”
