The 33.9 Moon Sand Too was delivered in 2016

Burgess has been appointed as the central agency for the sale of the 33.9m Feadship Moon Sand Too, which is available for viewings in Hong Kong. De Voogt handled naval architecture and exterior design of the 111ft Dutch build, while the interiors are by Bannenberg & Rowell.

Moon Sand Too was the first of Feadship’s Lagoon Cruiser Series of yachts and features extensive use of glass, transforming both her appearance and the guest experience inside. Aluminium construction increases strength and reduces weight, while a shallow draft of 1.8m expands the cruising possibilities in the likes of Florida, the Bahamas and much of Southeast Asia.

A large sun deck has a lounge forward partially shaded by the hardtop. It also has a bar, barbecue, shaded dining for up to 10 guests, and a versatile space aft for exercise equipment, yoga, entertainment or loose furniture like sun loungers. The aft cockpit on the main deck also offers alfresco dining.

Her volume of 262GT is almost 25 per cent more than on standard designs of this length, with the interiors offering spectacular views due to the extensive use of glass. The saloon includes an L-shaped sofa port aft opposite café seating to starboard and a formal dining area forward.

Off the lobby is a day head, while forward is the full-beam owner’s suite with en-suite shower and bath, and a walk-in wardrobe. The lower deck includes three en-suite guest cabins comprising a full-beam VIP double with walk-in wardrobe, a double and a twin.

A pair of 1,800hp MTU diesel engines provide a top speed of 21 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots. The yacht was built to Bureau Veritas classification and delivered in 2016.

Newly formed VP Yachts has enjoyed a solid start to life as the exclusive Sessa Marine dealer in Hong Kong following its appointment by the Italian builder at the end of last year.

VP Yachts has represented Sessa since November 2020

VP Yachts has signed its third sale of a Sessa motor yacht in seven months in what has been a busy period for the newly formed company since it was appointed as the Italian builder’s exclusive dealer for Hong Kong in November 2020.

The company started strongly by selling a Fly 68, the flagship of the Flybridge line, which also includes the Fly 42, Fly F47 and Fly 54 models. A unit was already in Hong Kong and proved an attractive proposition to an owner who bought it in December.

The Sessa C47 was premiered at this year’s Venice Boat Show

Early this year, VP Yachts secured its second Sessa sale when it sold a Fly 47, which is due to be delivered to Hong Kong in early 2022.

And recently the company sold a C38, which is part of the builder’s line of small Cruiser yachts along with the C35. Sessa also produces a Yacht line of cruiser models ranging from the C42 to the C68.

VP Yachts, Vivian Chan, Sun Hing Shipyard, Hong Kong, Sessa, Marine

VP Yachts recently sold a Sessa C38

“It has been an exciting time for us because although my family and I have a lot of experience in the yachting industry from a service and maintenance perspective, VP Yachts is a new company specialising in sales. We’re happy to have started quite well with some sales for Sessa,” said Vivian Chan, founder and Director of VP Yachts.

SERVICE BACKGROUND

Chan, who named the company after the initials of her and her daughter’s first names (VP), is also General Manager of the Aberdeen-based Sun Hing Shipyard, which was founded by her father in 1981. Sun Hing has worked with many of Hong Kong’s leading yacht dealers and is the official North Asia service centre for Dufour sailing yachts.

Interior of the Sessa C47

VP Yachts believes Sessa Marine has a strong range of models to offer Hong Kong owners, having recently staged the world premiere of the C47 at the second Venice Boat Show in June. The three-cabin yacht is distinguished from its sister models by a door and electric window that separates the cockpit from the saloon, while Chan has other favourites from the Sessa range.

“The C47 is brand new and looks like a great boat and I also like the Fly 54, which is really sporty and sleek,” Chan says. “The size of the Fly 54 means it can be driven in Hong Kong on a Grade Two licence. It’s a good-sized family boat and can easily be handled and manoeuvred by a new boat owner.”

A new Yacht Design & Innovation Hub will be among the new features of this year’s Monaco Yacht Show from September 22-25, when the world’s leading superyacht show returns to Port Hercules for the first time since 2019. Over the four days, designers will hold free 15-minute talks about design in yachting, their experience and their projects.

Located in the show’s dockside area close to the Parvis Piscine, the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub will complete the show’s Designer Gallery where visitors meet up with designers and naval architects at their booths.

The ClubSwan 125 Skorpios, Rambler 88 and several 105ft Ultime trimarans are among the high-profile ‘fliers’ in the record 450-plus entries for this year’s Rolex Fastnet, as the historic race founded in 1925 finishes in France for the first time.

The first ClubSwan 125, the black-and-yellow Skorpios, will be among the most high-profile yachts in this year’s Rolex Fastnet Race as the 43m Juan Kouyoumdjian design makes its race debut soon after its launch.

The biennial race starts in Cowes on August 8 and will conclude for the first time in France, with the new finish in Cherbourg – instead of Plymouth – extending the course from 608nm to 695nm.

Skorpios can have at least 20 crew

Nautor’s Swan believes Skorpios, which features a canting keel and single curved foil, could be the fastest monohull ever built. Owned by Russian Dmitry Rybolovlev, it will be raced by a professional crew headed by Fernando Echávarri, tactician on the ClubSwan 50 Skorpios that won the ClubSwan 50 World Championship in 2019 and which is also owned by Rybolovlev.

Echávarri and Antón Paz Blanco won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Tornado class and were named the ISAF Sailor of the Year in 2005 after winning the Spanish, European and world titles that year. Skorpios is also entered in the Rolex Middle Sea Race starting on October 23 and its crew features multiple sailors with experience in round-the-world races.

Rambler 88 has won monohull line honours in the last two Rolex Fastnet Races

Competing in IRC 0, Skorpios will be under pressure to live up to expectations and will face competition from American George David’s successful Rambler 88, monohull line honours winner in the last two editions of the Rolex Fastnet and current holder of the monohull record to the Fastnet Rock.

ULTIME TRIMARANS

Meanwhile, the race will also feature the French grand prix classes due to its proximity to the Brittany region where many are based. These include the 32m Ultime trimarans, which have a 23m beam and are renowned as the world’s fastest offshore racing yachts.

Maxi Edmond de Rothschild set the Rolex Fastnet multihull record in 2019

Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, skippered by Volvo Ocean Race winners Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier, returns this year after setting the outright multihull record for the Rolex Fastnet Race in 2019 with a time of one day 4hrs 2mins 26 secs.

Francois Gabart’s MACIF – currently holder of the singlehanded non-stop around the world record – narrowly lost out in the multihull line honours battle two years ago, but the boat returns this year as Actual Ultim 3, skippered by Yves Le Blevec.

Actual Ultim 3 will be skippered by Yves Le Blevec

Meanwhile, there are 15 entries in the Two-Handed IMOCA 60 class, 60ft boats famous for competing in the Vendée Globe.

Among those entered are this year’s ‘two’ Vendee Globe winners: Charlie Dalin’s Apivia, which was first home to Les Sables d’Olonne, and Yannick Bestaven on Maître CoQ, which was declared the overall winner after receiving time compensation from earlier in the race.

The new finish in Cherbourg has extended the race from 608nm to 695nm

There are also two IMOCA 60s from US-based 11th Hour Racing including a newly launched model for Charlie Enright who skippered Wizard, the overall winner of the 2019 Rolex Fastnet Race, while Britain’s Alex Thomson is back with a newly refitted Hugo Boss.

RACE-START SEQUENCE BROADCAST LIVE ONLINE

The start of the 2021 Rolex Fastnet Race will be shown live on August 8 on the RORC’s website, YouTube channel and Facebook page. The British builder’s display will also include four Targa sports cruisers – a 45 Open, a 45 GT – a model recently sold into China by Simpson Marine – a 50 Open and the range’s flagship 65.

However, much of the attention will be focused on the new F//Line 33, a model designed by Fairline collaborator Alberto Mancini and first unveiled in Cannes in 2019, showing off a top speed of 48 knots with its upgraded engine options.

This year, the model has been redeveloped with a new cockpit layout, which provides both sunbathing and seating options simultaneously. The layout features C-shaped seating to the starboard side with the aft backrest doubling up as a headrest for the two-person sunbed. The cockpit will comfortably seat four to six people around a teak table.

There is also an optional cantilever pedestal, which stows the table behind the seat cushions when not in use. A wet bar to the port side includes a fitted sink and folding tap as standard and can be upgraded to include a fridge and electric griddle, with a drawer icemaker in the seat base opposite.

The French shipyard is developing a new flagship sailing yacht that builds on the exterior and interior options available on the 60 launched earlier this year.

Jeanneau is developing a flagship Jeanneau Yachts 65 that is set to be launched at Groupe Beneteau’s Monfalcone facility in Italy by the end of the year. Like the Jeanneau Yachts 60 launched earlier this year, the 65 is designed by Philippe Briand with interior styling by Andrew Winch of Winch Design.

The leisure version features a hard top

Also like the 60, the model features Jeanneau’s walk-around deck and is offered in two versions. The performance version has an open cockpit, fixed attachment for the mainsheet and high-performance rigging choices. The leisure option includes a mainsail arch with a hard top, a self-tacking jib and an outdoor galley.

The leisure version’s aft bench doubles as an outdoor galley

Twin helms are located far aft, close to the winches, allowing space for a large cockpit. Forward of the two large storage lockers are two cockpit tables, which can be electrically lowered to transform the area into a sundeck. Aft, the transom converts into a big swim platform with access to the tender garage.

The interior benefits from 12 deck hatches, complemented by an additional hatch in the sail locker or skipper’s cabin, which provide “a level of light and ventilation that is unique aboard a monohull”, according to Jeanneau.

Fraser has announced the sale of 40m (131ft) Silentworld, which was one of the largest yachts for sale in the Pacific region and will be delivered to her new owner in Hong Kong. Built by Spain’s Astilleros M. Cies in 2006 and most recently refitted in 2018, the yacht accommodates 12 guests in six staterooms.

Silentworld has been based in Tahiti and was sold by Fraser Australia brokers Peter Redford and Eugenio Cannarsa, who were representing the seller. Adam Blackmore and Jacqueline Lee from Fraser’s Hong Kong office represented the buyer, who is expected to keep the yacht in Hong Kong and explore the likes of the Philippines and Indonesia.

“It was a pleasure to work closely with the clients to search and acquire their first yacht,” Blackmore said. “It had been a family dream for many years to own a yacht and explore the oceans. Helping them make this a reality is a career highlight for me. Eugenio and Peter’s team were the icing on the cake. Their level of professionalism and clarity at all times helped to facilitate such a complex deal.”

Alberto Mancini designed the exterior of the 68ft 10in model, following his work on the 78 and 53 Flybridges, Grande Trideck and new S models. Achille Salvagni designed the interiors and the exterior furniture, while Pierluigi Ausonio was responsible for naval architecture.

The 68 Fly offers three different saloon layouts on the main deck to suit different lifestyles, with a forward galley either open or closed, or an open aft galley. In the Lanterna layout, the living area is by the entrance, with the forward galley hidden behind a surface of ribbed wood and plexiglass. The galley is closed off but still enables light to flow through the interior.

Another option is an open version of the forward galley that opens directly onto the dining area, which can also be converted into a second lounge zone.

The other option is the aft galley to port, which serves both indoors and outdoors, while keeping the cook connected with the social area. The dining table is across from the galley, with the saloon situated on the raised, forward level.

The yacht has a top speed of 32 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots with twin Volvo IPS 1350 pods. The materials include extensive use of carbon-fibre in the upper parts including the superstructure, hard top and part of the deck, which helps lower centre of gravity for greater stability.
