Following associations with sport stars Rafa Nadal and Nico Rosberg, Sunreef is collaborating with Formula One star Fernando Alonso.

Fernando Alonso has commissioned a custom 60 Sunreef Power Eco catamaran. The Formula One star signed the build contract with Sunreef Yachts founder and President Francis Lapp at the Yacht Club de Monaco. Alonso’s model will be fitted with electric engines, the shipyard’s solar power system and custom-engineered ultralight batteries, and an energy-saving air-conditioning system.

Sunreef Yachts’ ability to combine quality and technology is impressive. I have been observing the evolution of this brand for a while and I appreciate their commitment to push innovation forward with the Sunreef Yachts Eco range,” said Alonso, a two-time Formula One world champion.

“I’m excited to embark on this project as I know the 60 Sunreef Power Eco represents everything I am looking for: top engineering, amazing know-how and an amazing eco-friendly product.”

The 60 Sunreef Power Eco is based on the 60 Sunreef Power

Last year, Sunreef delivered an 80 Sunreef Power to tennis star Rafa Nadal and appointed Nico Rosberg an ambassador of the Eco range. Alonso now joins the stable of sports stars associated with the Polish-built luxury catamarans.

Lapp, who founded Sunreef in 2002, said: “We are very proud to welcome Fernando Alonso into our family. We begin a great journey together as we start a new electric 60 Sunreef Power Eco project. We take another big step towards a more sustainable yachting experience and are thrilled to take it together with an outstanding and inspiring ambassador on board.”

Splendorous and speedy, the G700 sets two transatlantic speed records.

Gulfstream’s G700 aircraft had just set two transatlantic records for flying at 6,711 nautical miles nonstop at Mach 0.88 or 1,086 kilometres per hour, for 13 hours and 16 minutes. The aircraft took off from Savannah, Georgia to Doha, in Qatar.

It then set another record for flying from Doha to Paris, 2,935 nautical miles in six hours and 15 minutes, at an average speed of Mach 0.90 before returning back to its headquarters in Savannah.

Powered by two Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, the G700 is capable of flying 7,500 nautical miles and can carry up to 13 passengers. It also flew on low-emissions aviation fuel to comply with the original manufacturer’s sustainability commitment.

The transatlantic flights were Gulfstream’s way of showing that the jet lives up to the hype it has attracted in 2019. And visiting the capital of Qatar is intentional as The Qatar Airways group has already placed an order to include the G700 into its fleet of business jets. The delivery of the first G700 aircraft will take place next year and it is priced at US$78 million.

Unveiling the G700 flagship aircraft at a press conference in Doha, Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker said, “Qatar Executive grew exponentially during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

“The average monthly block hours reserved grew by 76 per cent year-over-year and the booking enquiries increased by more than 100 per cent.” Despite growing concerns over the safety of travelling, business aviation remains resilient and demand for it is expected to remain strong.

The cabin is currently the largest in business aviation. With a length of 57 feet and 8-foot width, it provides ample and spacious seating and a “grand suite” in the back of the aircraft that serves as a bedroom. It also has an extra-large galley, 20 oval windows, and circadian lighting that helps reduce overall jetlag.

Paris-based rival, Dassault, announced its own long-range business jet this year, the Falcon 10X. These two, along with Bombadier’s Global 7500 will soon be competing in private aviation’s farthest, fastest, and most expensive category of business jets. Under the right conditions, the G700 can fly from London to Chile nonstop — an incredible feat in aviation.

Here is a short clip about the Gulfstream G700

The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver is a full-black lume-drenched delight made for the world under 300 metres of water.

Revealed earlier this year, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer collection gets a little more depth — and night vision — with the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver. We covered the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer collection earlier this year, and it was the subject of the cover story in WOW, but this is something new. Briefly, the TAG Heuer Night Diver is a full-black lume-drenched delight made for the world under 300 metres of water.

The 43 mm Night Diver is a proper dive watch, but it also has plenty of charisma, as evidenced by the DLC-coated case, crown, bezel, caseback and clasp. The fully lumed dial adds a bit of flash in the guise of functional legibility — the dial glows green while the hands are filled with blue lume. The hour markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock are also filled with green SuperLuminova, like the dial, while the octagonal markers are blacked out.

TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver
Image: TAG Heuer

For a time-only timepiece with date, the TAG Heuer Night Diver is a lot of watch. The Aquaracer Professional 300 series is already quite flavorful, with the Tribute to Ref. 844 finding lots of fans. Like that watch, the Night Diver is full of quirky charm, this time in full 21st century mode. We saw it at the TAG Heuer offices in Singapore and can report that the lume is impressive, and needs to be seen in person as photographs do not do it justice — even the nice ones you see here from TAG Heuer. Needless to say, you absolutely need to see — and test — how this looks in the dark so bring a UV torchlight with you, if you can. The boutique will probably be able to sort you out but do not leave it to chance.

This brings us to another important point. This is not a safe queen, as they say. In other words, if you buy this watch you better wear it. The real pleasure of having a high performance lumed-up watch is in seeing it change character in different lighting. It is not a gradual shift. It works wonders during presentations, for example, although you will have to be a bit mindful not to steal the show.

In all other ways, the TAG Heuer Night Diver is just like a standard Aquaracer Professional 300 collection watch. It is powered by the automatic Calibre 5, protected by the scaphander-bearing 12-sided caseback. The bezel insert remains in black ceramic, with the steel structure itself covered by the DLC coating; the bezel shape remains in the same 12-sided shape.

Monte Carlo Yachts’ Signature Style

Monte Carlo Yachts’ Signature Style

The MCY 105 Signature Edition is the new owner-centric offering from Italy’s Monte Carlo Yachts, which works closely with clients to customise its Nuvolari Lenard-designed models from the MCY 66 to the flagship MCY 105 and Skylounge editions.

Ever since it was founded in 2008, Italy’s Monte Carlo Yachts has had a unique offering to owners – Nuvolari Lenard. Long established as one of the world’s leading superyacht design studios, the Venice-based firm headed by Carlo Nuvolari and Dan Lenard has designed every Monte Carlo Yachts model, from the first MCY 76 launched in 2010 through to the second-generation models that began to unveil in 2019 and the Skylounge editions that premiered last year.

Nuvolari Lenard’s style is a huge attraction for owners of MCY models and the studio is responsible for the exterior and interior designs of the full size range, from the MCY 66 to the flagship MCY 105.

The duo has created one of the most easily recognisable brands in this sector of the market with consistently recognisable, flowing exterior lines and a hull stamped by the iconic overlapping circular

windows midships. These ‘Future Classics’ are easy to spot in any marina or bay.

Just as important for owners is that the shipyard and the design studio work hand in hand with owners to customise the interior and exterior as well as the made-in-Italy furniture, high-end décor and top-quality materials. However, Monte Carlo Yachts’ owner-centric offering recently moved to a new level with the release of the MCY 105 Signature Edition.

“This yacht boasts three signatures in one: the signature of Monte Carlo Yachts, the one of Nuvolari Lenard and the one of the owner,” says Sergio Loiacono, Monte Carlo Yachts’ Sales and Marketing Director.

“MCY 105 Signature Edition reflects the dreams and desires our customers have expressed for more than a decade. It embodies all the aspects a client is looking for. Clients sometimes love to immerse themselves and explore first-hand the unlimited customisation possibilities, while sometimes they love to receive a dedicated tailormade proposal from the designers’ expertise. This offers both.”

Carlo Nuvolari and Dan Lenard

Nuvolari, a naval engineer and architect, and Lenard, the designer, are also convinced of the Signature Edition concept, having spent the past decade listening to feedback from Monte Carlo Yachts owners.

Lenard adds: “MCY 105 Signature Edition is conceived to meet the ultimate requests and taste of customers, celebrating Italian heritage and featuring a more contemporary, essential style. This interior design emphasises the presence of natural light to create a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere to enhance well-being on board.”

BUILDING AROUND THE OWNER

While the MCY 105 Signature Edition takes tailored proposals and client engagement to a new level due in large to the scale of the flagship yacht, Monte Carlo Yachts has always offered clients the ability to choose the configuration and look and feel of their yacht, whatever its size.

Monte Carlo Yachts, MCY, 105, Signature Edition, Dan Lenard, Carlo Nuvolari, Serio Loiacono, customisation, personalisation

The entire MCY range allows every owner to tailor their yacht to suit their lifestyle. Customisation options range from the main deck, lower deck, flybridge and exterior areas to technical equipment and special features.

“Every Monte Carlo Yachts unit is built around its owner. It responds to their personal way of enjoying life onboard. Consumers want products tailored to their own specific needs and style, so Monte Carlo Yachts distinguishes itself from the competition by offering customisation,” Loiacono says.

PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Since its inception, Monte Carlo Yachts has had a particularly personal and owner-centred approach, seemingly bringing the custom superyacht service mentality to a semi-production operation. This approach is possible due to the brand’s worldwide presence and an efficient dealer network that offers one-to-one meetings and support.

Monte Carlo Yachts, MCY, 105, Signature Edition, Dan Lenard, Carlo Nuvolari, Serio Loiacono, customisation, personalisation

The personal approach is also replicated the other way, as Monte Carlo Yachts traditionally welcomes its yacht owners to attend its model premieres and come to the shipyard to visit its purpose-built, state-of-the-art factory in Monfalcone, which specialises in a revolutionary modular construction process inspired by lean manufacturing.

In fact, each new build typically begins with a meeting with the prospective owners, as the shipyard listens to their ideas and wishes, and shows them around the waterfront facility. “These meetings are the basis of the relationship that gives the owner a leading role in the planning and development of their yacht,” Loiacono says.

Monte Carlo Yachts, MCY, 105, Signature Edition, Dan Lenard, Carlo Nuvolari, Serio Loiacono, customisation, personalisation

Some owners, he explains, love to be involved and experience first-hand the customisation process, guiding the choices from the layout to small details. In other cases, the owner wants the customisation driven through Monte Carlo Yachts and Nuvolari Lenard proposals, which start with a client profile study.

“The reason we can propose almost unlimited tailor-made solutions, such as the MCY 105 Signature Edition proposal, and a unique customisation experience – as much as the client wants – is because of the unique MCY Collection design and the innovative naval architecture and production process. This is the added value of choosing Monte Carlo Yachts.”

BRINGING CHOICES TO LIFE

The other major attraction is that any trip to Monfalcone can also enable the owner to have an immersive visit to the Nuvolari Lenard studio in Venice, just 1½ hours away by car. The customisation process continues here as owners can see, feel and choose from the incredible array of luxurious materials and finishes that the design studio typically proposes to its superyacht and megayacht clients.

Monte Carlo Yachts, MCY, 105, Signature Edition, Dan Lenard, Carlo Nuvolari, Serio Loiacono, customisation, personalisation

There are plenty of choices to be made as the interiors of MCY models are characterised by natural woods, stone and marble, luxurious fabrics, and high-end Italian indoor and outdoor furniture. Large, lacquered surfaces, refined hand-stitched leather inserts and decorative glass and metal details, selected from top design firms and leading Italian suppliers, are also on the menu.

“Literally unlimited material choices await the client, which makes the personalisation process a truly fascinating experience that can’t be found with any other production builder,” Loiacono says. “The MCY style office works closely with the Nuvolari Lenard studio, providing painstaking attention to every single detail. The result is an exceptional experience for even the most demanding owners.”

Monte Carlo Yachts, MCY, 105, Signature Edition, Dan Lenard, Carlo Nuvolari, Serio Loiacono, customisation, personalisation

Personalised layouts and decors, 3D views, décor boards and made-to-measure brochures are developed together with the client. Lenard emphasises: “No detail, no matter how small, is overlooked. We are there all along with the shipyard, to make sure that each yacht is exactly as the owner wants it to be.”

LOCAL CONNECTIONS

The shipyard also works closely with its dealers, who can also play an important part in the customisation process. In this region, dealers are led by Asia Yachting, which represents Monte Carlo Yachts in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Monte Carlo Yachts, MCY, 105, Signature Edition, Dan Lenard, Carlo Nuvolari, Serio Loiacono, customisation, personalisation

One of the builder’s leading dealers globally, Asia Yachting has hosted an array of spectacular Monte Carlo Yachts events in Hong Kong in recent years. These include a spectacular evening on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront that featured tailor-made stands for marble, carpet, leather, wood and fabric, each showing dozens of options typically offered for MCY models.

The harbour venue also hosted various interactive displays including an MCY steering wheel where guests could imagine driving a yacht while seeing ‘their’ boat move on a screen. It underlined the importance the builder puts on owners taking control of their yacht from the concept stage.

Monte Carlo Yachts, MCY, 105, Signature Edition, Dan Lenard, Carlo Nuvolari, Serio Loiacono, customisation, personalisation

“For the majority of MCY owners, the customisation process has been an added value. It’s a unique experience to be guided by the Nuvolari Lenard studio and to really customise the layout and every single detail of their new yacht,” Loiacono concludes.

“The shipyard’s innovative naval architecture and leading-edge production process means we can then create the yacht of their dream without having to compromise on quality and delivery time. Each creation captures the owner’s dreams, while staying true to MCY’s distinguished signature and character.”

Nicole van de Wall explains the appeal of chartering and owning private jets in Thailand.

Private Jets, Nicole van de Wall, Engel & Völkers, Sonny Souvannasong, Vonn Jets, MJets Private Jet Terminal, Dom Mueang, International Airport

The calm elegance of the MJets Private Jet Terminal in Don Mueang International Airport embraces you after a busy day in Bangkok. A porter takes the luggage out of the taxi, and with only a small day pack, you walk to the reception.

The meeting in town took longer than expected, but there was no rush. Your pilot already changed the booking for the take-off slot, allowing plent
y of time to finish your business.

While you take a shower and relax, the staff efficiently takes care of all the paperwork and makes sure any favourite food and drinks are brought on board and ready. A car with a driver will transport you over the tarmac to the plane. Is this a dream?

Flying in a private jet is becoming more popular in Asia and booking a flight is easier than you might think. According to Sonny Souvannavong from VönnJets, there is a growing demand in the market for private jet charter. It’s no wonder.

Private Jets, Nicole van de Wall, Engel & Völkers, Sonny Souvannasong, Vonn Jets, MJets Private Jet Terminal, Dom Mueang, International Airport

With travel opportunities opening again, travellers will still be cautious about their safety. Flying with a private jet offers a great alternative. Using an app like Victor, you can easily make a comparison.

The typical benefits of flying in a private jet are:

• Safety: Private jets fly at a higher altitude and adhere to strict safety regulations

• Privacy: Check-in goes through a dedicated private jet terminal; you have the plane for yourself and your party

• Time and flexibility: There’s no need to wait in the terminal for a long time as the plane remains waiting for you; furthermore, the cruising speed is faster than a commercial jet

• Service: Imagine having a gourmet dinner at altitude or super-fast Wi-Fi; in-flight catering by a private chef is often a highlight of the experience

Flying a private jet is a real luxury and the perfect way to start a weekend away or go on a business trip. When catching up with Sonny over Zoom, the importance of the right plane for your trip quickly became clear.

Private Jets, Nicole van de Wall, Engel & Völkers, Sonny Souvannasong, Vonn Jets, MJets Private Jet Terminal, Dom Mueang, International Airport

When searching for your charter flight, keep these questions in mind to avoid booking the wrong type of plane:

• Usage: Is the flight for leisure, business or cargo?

• Length: How long will my flight be?

In Asia, there are many planes available for charter that will suit even the most demanding guests. Private jets roughly have three categories: short range for flights from two-three hours, mid-range for three-six hours and long-range for six-15 hours.

The planes go up in size, affecting the number of seats and more, so the price per hour is different for these three categories. For me, the most significant similarity is that planes and yachts are incredible pieces of engineering.

Being onboard a luxury yacht or a private jet is an exhilarating experience. Ask Sonny when you talk to him how long I kept smiling after he took me flying. Your plane is waiting for you!

Canada is the perfect location for an adventure holiday. Check out some of these extreme activities next time you’re visiting the country.

Looking to take an adventure holiday in Canada? From swimming with whales to bungee jumping to sleeping in an ice cave, Canada offers plenty of opportunities to step out of your comfort zone. If you’re not sure where to start, however, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite adventure activities available in Canada. Read on to find out more.

Bobsleighing, Calgary

Calgary, Alberta, which is famous for its yearly stampede, hosted the Winter Olympics in 1988. Calgary Olympic Park continues to attract thrill-seekers who want to speed down its bobsleigh, luge and skeleton tracks.

Calgary Olympic Park includes bobsleigh runs with a qualified expert directing the cart as well as the more intense luge run, which sends people hurtling down the slick track at speeds of up to 60 km/h. If speed and excitement is what you’re after on your adventure holiday in Canada, bobsleighing is a must.

The thrills of folly are available all year round at Calgary Olympic Park.

Trekking the West Coast Trail, Vancouver Island

The Canadian West Coast has some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.

The Pacific Rim National Park has thankfully conserved much of the landscape, including the famous West Coast Trail, a 75-kilometer (47-mile) hike through forests, bogs, up and down ladders, through rugged and sandy shoreline, and more. Accessing more challenging-to-reach places will require a brief boat journey or helicopter ride, but this adds to the sense of adventure.

The week-long trek is not for the faint of heart. It requires physical strength and stamina, so don’t take it lightly, because you will likely see few people on your walk. Everything you need, from supplies to meals, is carried on your back.

The West Coast Trail is open from May to September, and only allows 52 hikers per day.

Swimming with whales, Newfoundland

Canada, with its extensive coastline, offers numerous opportunities to watch whales on their migratory routes or on their food quests. The bulk of passengers simply board a huge ferry or a smaller, more manoeuvrable Zodiac. However, those looking to check ‘swimming with whales’ off their bucket list can dive in and swim alongside the majestic creatures.

It’s best to schedule this kind of trip with adventure holiday pros, and Ocean Quest Adventures in Newfoundland, Canada’s most easterly (and perhaps friendliest) province, is one of the best.

Rick and Debbie Stanley have a long history with the whales. They enjoy hosting visitors and educating them about the whales, as well as marine conservation and sustainable tourism.

Exploring the CN Tower EdgeWalk, Toronto

Simply staring down from the CN Tower’s sky-high glass observation decks is enough to make some people nervous.

However, for those seeking their adventure holiday to the next level, EdgeWalk is the place to go. EdgeWalk is known as the world’s highest full-circle, hands-free walk, and this activity requires visitors to walk on a 1.5 m wide ledge encircling the top of the Tower’s central pod — 356m or 1,168ft (116 stories) above the ground.

EdgeWalk is both a terrifying and exhilarating experience, as participants walk around the 360-degree perimeter of the Tower while strapped to a track. Enjoy unrivaled views of Toronto by leaning back or over the side.

Staying at the Ice Hotel, Quebec

Ice Hotel QuebecHôtel de Glace. Credit: Québec City Tourism

Sleeping in an ice hotel could be lovely and comforting, or it could be completely insane. Make your own decision by booking a room at the Quebec Ice Hotel. The Ice Hotel is rebuilt each year as the temperatures drop in January, and as every year passes, the design gets more and more opulent.

Start your adventure at the bar, like the rest of this freezing architectural wonder, which is made entirely of ice. Temperatures in the hotel vary between -3 and -5 degrees Celsius, but no one is ever cold.

The hotel invites guests to dip in the outdoor hot tubs and sauna before retiring for the night. Deep and restful sleep is guaranteed.

Bungee jumping, Nanaimo

WildPlay Nanaimo, Bungee JumpingCredit: WildPlay Nanaimo

Jumping 50m from a bridge with nothing but a long elastic cord linked to your ankle qualifies as “extreme”. Although Canada does not claim ownership of bungee jumping, it does have some excellent locations, including the famous WildPlay Elements Jump.

The WildPlay Elements Park in Nanaimo, British Columbia, encourages brave visitors to freefall 150 feet off a bridge, and brush up against the Nanaimo River before rebounding up and down. Nothing really screams ‘adventure holiday’ quite like a bungee jumping experience.

In February, visitors to Nanaimo who are on a budget will be interested to learn that WildPlay Nanaimo offers giant bungee jumping discounts, as part of a mental health fundraising and awareness event, benefiting the British Columbia Schizophrenia Society. You must, however, jump naked. There appears to be no scarcity of interested parties. Tickets for spectators are also available.

Riding rollercoasters at Wonderland’s Leviathan, Toronto

The country’s largest amusement park, Canada’s Wonderland in Toronto, Ontario, is home to this incredibly steep and narrow rollercoaster. Leviathan is Canada’s tallest and most exciting roller coaster, measuring 5,486 feet (1,672 m) long, 306 feet (93 m) tall, and reaching a high speed of 92 miles per hour (148 km/h).

The Leviathan’s engineering is sound, to be sure. There have been no accidents, and driving a car on a Canadian highway is far riskier than riding a rollercoaster at Canada’s Wonderland. Still, something about willingly boarding this skinny combination of steel and fibreglass, even for three and a half minutes, seems wrong.

But that’s a minority viewpoint — the rollercoaster’s wait is notoriously long, and some visitors ride it a dozen times per visit.

Surfing in the Bay of Fundy

The legendary Bay of Fundy tides, the world’s highest, generate the tidal bore phenomenon. As the tide comes in, the outflowing Petitcodiac River surges back upstream, causing a tremendous, lengthy, continuous wave. Surfers have taken notice.

Whitewater rafting, Ottawa

Did you know that Ottawa is one of the best spots in the world to go whitewater rafting?

You’ll get wet, and it’ll be physically demanding, but the adrenaline rush will keep you going down the Ottawa River. Regardless of your skill level or expertise, the surrounding region offers various options for you to conquer the river.

Canada should be top of your list when planning an active holiday in a foreign country. With plenty of extreme activities on offer, you’ll need a holiday after going through them all.

Sunseeker’s 90 Ocean shows at both Cannes and Monaco, the rest of the ‘Famous Five’ are at Cannes and Southampton, while Fairline and Princess also unveil new models.

Sunseeker’s 90 Ocean shows at both Cannes and Monaco

Sunseeker’s 90 Ocean is the biggest of its ‘Famous Five’ new models on display at the Cannes Yachting Festival (September 7-12) and is also appearing at the Monaco Yacht Show (September 22-25).

Although listed as part of the Yacht range, the 90 Ocean is part of a new, volume-focused series of designs by Sunseeker. She offers 20 per cent more volume and 25-30 per cent more deck space than typical designs of this length, according to the builder, due to a substantial 23ft 6in beam and an upright bow that allows for more interior space forward.

Sunseeker also says the flybridge, which can include an infinity spa pool, is 25 per cent larger than on a comparable yacht. A large swim platform features the new X-TEND™ system, which can fold out to create a sunbed or be raised to offer a sunbed facing into the cockpit.

The 88 Yacht is the second biggest of Sunseeker’s new models

Rounding out the ‘Famous Five’ that premiered online in May, the 88 Yacht, 65 Sport Yacht, Manhattan 55 and Predator 55 EVO™ are all on display at both Cannes and the overlapping Southampton International Boat Show (September 10-19), not far from the builder’s home in Poole.

The 88 Yacht (Review, Issue 60) – which has a beam of 21ft 3in – also offers the X-TEND option and is the brand’s first model to feature a forward galley, where it shares the same space as the lower helm. Boasting a much larger saloon and dining area than the former 86, the 88 Yacht also represents a huge upgrade in finishing, detailing, lighting and materials for Sunseeker.

The reconfigured lower deck features four cabins of which the most memorable may be the forward VIP suite, which features a private lobby, stairway and an etched-glass screen that hides the bedroom. Starboard is a desk unit with vanity, while aft is a walk-in dressing room, a rare feature on a VIP suite in a yacht of this size.

The 65 Sport Yacht with the Sky Helm option

The 65 Sport Yacht is most notable for the optional SkyHelm™, which features twin bolstered seats set low on either side of a central console that give the feeling of driving a sports car. The driver can raise the fully-carbon steering arm to ease entry into the racing-cockpit design or keep it locked in a raised position for helming while standing. The flybridge windscreen can also tilt up and down.

The main deck has a large sunpad aft, while the interior has an aft galley, saloon and twin-seat lower helm. The lower deck has a full-beam master midships, guest to starboard and VIP forward.

The Manhattan 55 was the Issue 58 cover story

The three-cabin Manhattan 55 (Cover & Review, Issue 58) builds on the platform of the Manhattan 52, but is quicker than Sunseeker’s fastest-selling model, reaching 32 knots with two Volvo Penta D13-800 engines.

It offers the brand’s popular Beach Club option with barbecue, drop-down bench seat and overhead shower. The cockpit has a sofa and adjustable table plus the option of bar stools by the aft galley, which doubles as a bar once the window is electrically lowered. The interior features the new lighting and detailing seen on other new Sunseekers.

The Predator 55 EVO™ rounds out the ‘Famous Five’

The sporty Predator 55 EVO™, which had its world premiere at Palm Beach in March, has an overall length of almost 56ft and a top speed of 32 knots with twin Volvo Penta D11-725 engines. The boat’s Hydro-Pack utilises a fly-by-wire steering system and independent rudders for greater agility, while optional thrusters, joystick and a Humphree Automatic Interceptor System also add to performance.

The yacht features a spacious cockpit and an enhanced bathing platform, which offers easy launching of a Williams TurboJet 325 tender from the garage. A hinged door and fold-up window connect the saloon and cockpit, complemented by an optional wet bar with grill, fridge and storage.

The interior is topped by a carbon-fibre opening roof, while the lower deck has a master suite midships, VIP forward, galley to port and either a dinette, storage or Pullman guest cabin to starboard.

Fairline is unveiling the 2021 edition of the F//Line 33

Fairline’s new model at Cannes is the upgraded F//Line 33, a model designed by Alberto Mancini and first unveiled at the 2019 show, showing off a top speed of 48 knots with its top engine options.

As well as offering a hard top, as seen on the model in Cannes, the 2021 model has a new cockpit layout featuring C-shaped seating to starboard with the aft backrest doubling as a headrest for the two-person sunbed. The cockpit seats up to six around a teak table that can be stowed behind the seat cushions by an optional cantilever pedestal.

A wet bar to port can be upgraded to include a fridge and electric griddle, with a drawer icemaker in the seat base opposite. Other new options include an electric hob and sink below deck, and up to two 12-inch Garmin touchscreen displays at the more spacious helm.

The Y72 is a new model from Princess

Also at Cannes, Princess is staging the world premiere of the Y72. Designed with naval architecture partner Olesinski and Italian design house Pininfarina, the model features similar design language seen on the Y78 and Y85, plus full-length hull windows.

The open-plan galley, with hinge-up aft window, includes an island bar with optional stools and is opposite the dining area. In the saloon, a private staircase to port leads to the owner’s stateroom midships, while stairs by the helm lead to three guest cabins forward. The Y72 is fitted with twin MAN V12 engines, either 1,400mhp or 1,650mhp, the latter powering the yacht up to 34 knots.

The Sanlorenzo 62Steel premieres at the Monaco Yacht Show

After previous articles on Azimut-Benetti and Ferretti Group, this article focuses on new models from other Italian motor yacht builders. Sanlorenzo’s new models in 2021 include three world premieres at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the first 62Steel, Cloud 9, which is making its global debut at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Part of the builder’s Superyacht range, the 62Steel (Review, Issue 61) has an overall length of 61.5m and a beam of 11.9m and was designed by Sanlorenzo. Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini handled the décor and furnishings of Cloud 9.

The beach club is among standout features and is lit by the transparent bottom of the guest swimming pool, which is situated at the aft end of the main deck and has a sliding cover that transforms it into an extended sunbathing area.

The covered beach area on the lower deck spans 1,000sqft and includes relaxation areas, a bar, gym and hammam. There’s another 430sqft of outdoor space on folding terraces aft and to either side, while two midships garages contain the main 9m tender, service tender and jetski.

The main deck features an almost 1,000sqft saloon with a dining room that seats up to 16 as well as six guest cabins, although one can double as a massage room.

Reached by a lift, the owner’s deck includes a 2,300sqft master suite, which has two bathrooms, a walk-in dressing room, study and living area, and a forward-facing bed with views of the pool in the private foredeck. Aft is the 720sqft sky lounge, a space reserved for entertainment and games, while outside is an open-air al fresco dining area.

CANNES PREMIERES

Among Sanlorenzo’s Cannes premieres, the SL90A and SL120A are new additions to the builder’s fast-expanding planing line. Featuring exterior design by Zuccon International Project, the SL90A has a length of 27m, a beam of 6.5m and a top speed of 29 knots with twin MAN V12 2,000hp engines.

The yacht’s asymmetric design, featuring just one side deck on the main deck, has created an additional 330sqft of living space, according to the shipyard. The cockpit and saloon together provide 540sqft of space, while new features include a raised pilot house.

The SL120A is the flagship of the planing line, with a length of 36.9m. The 279GT superyacht has a top speed of 27 knots and a range of 1,800nm at 10 knots. The yacht features an expansive 500sqft beach area with a side terrace, while the main deck offers almost 1,000sqft of living space.

Meanwhile, the 290GT SD118 joins the builder’s semi-displacement line. The tri-deck yacht has a top speed of 19 knots and a range of 2,500nm at 10 knots. The yacht has a convertible 380sqft beach area with extra-wide sliding doors, full-height glazing and an upper deck with only a side deck to port.

On the main deck, the owner’s cabin forward features a 460sqft area with the option of openable windows and a walk-in wardrobe, while there’s also private access to the external bow area through a sliding staircase.

Bluegame, Sanlorenzo’s sister company, is staging the world premiere of its BG72 at Cannes, two years after debuting the BGX70 at the same show. The open-style BG72 also has a large aft platform that leads into a lower-deck saloon and three guest cabins including a forward master. An alternative lower-deck layout has the master aft, a twin cabin and lounge midships, and VIP forward.

The open main deck has a large sunpad aft, a covered lounging and dining area, and an enclosed helm station, while the foredeck has a large sofa and sunpad.

ABSOLUTE, SESSA

Absolute is staging the world premieres of the 48 Coupé and 60 Fly at Cannes. The three-cabin 48 Coupé is the first in a new range focused on sporty, highly versatile designs, with special features including solar power, opening saloon windows, a clean ‘terrace’ cockpit and a master suite forward on the lower deck.

The 48 Coupé is one of Absolute’s two premieres at Cannes

The roof is covered in solar panels – including transparent central ones to let in natural light – that offer a clean source of additional energy, particularly useful at anchor. The wide cockpit allows modular furniture to be arranged as desired, while new glazed balustrades aft and opening side gunwales offer a direct view of the sea, even from the saloon and the helm station.

Absolute’s 60 Fly also features a full-beam master suite forward on the lower deck and a clean aft-deck terrace with no fixed furniture. Furthermore, solar panels can also be integrated into the hardtop and feature on hull one.

The first hull of Absolute’s 60 Fly also has solar panels

The flybridge has a similar clear area for furniture aft plus a wet bar and twin helm station to port, while starboard is a table and C-shaped sofa adjoining a forward sofa and large sunpad. The foredeck has a forward-facing sofa and a triple sunpad with adjustable backrests.

The main-deck interior features an aft galley and dining table to starboard, while up a step is the saloon with a C-shaped sofa to port and a cabinet with TV to starboard.

Sessa is showing its new C47 at Cannes, having premiered the new model at the Venice Boat Show in June.

A successor to the brand’s popular C44, the 47ft cruiser features a sunroof above a saloon with a dining table for four, while the new design is distinguished from its sister models by a door and electric window that separates the cockpit from the interior. The lower deck features three cabins and two bathrooms.
