Prestige has appointed Amal Yachting as its official partner in Taiwan, where the dealership is established as one of the leading yachting companies. Founded in 2014 by Tee Tzer-yu, a naval architect, Amal Yachting also represents three Ferretti Group brands – Ferretti Yachts, Riva and Pershing – as well as Leopard, Beneteau, Axopar, Delta and Targa.

The representation of Prestige was announced in late March at a signing ceremony and press conference in Amal’s flagship showroom in Taipei, where it also operates a shipyard and a marina.

The appointment was Prestige’s latest in Asia, where its dealers include Asia Yachting in Hong Kong and Thailand, Speedo Marine in mainland China, Vietyacht in Vietnam, Yamaha Motor in Japan, Hyundai Yachts in Korea and Marine Solutions in India.

Tanguy Tertrais, Asia-Pacific Sales Director for Prestige, said: “We’re excited to expand our footprint in Taiwan though our partnership with Amal Yachting, a collaboration that strengthens our presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Amal Yachting’s expertise and dedication to the yachting industry make them an ideal partner for Prestige.”

Founded in 1989 as part of the Beneteau Group, Prestige built its global reputation on flybridge motoryachts from 40-70ft and is a world leader in the sector.

As well as its F-Line of flybridge models – currently undergoing a revamp – and its S-Line of coupe versions, the French builder has introduced two new lines in recent years: the X-Line of beamy, widebody flybridge models with reverse-raked windscreens, and the M-Line of multihull motoryachts.

Tee said: “We’ve been closely following Prestige’s evolution over the years, and we’re impressed by the continuous improvements in their product lines. The interior layouts are particularly well suited to the needs of clients in the Asia-Pacific region, offering both refined design and exceptional value.

“In Taiwan, there has been a clear gap in the market for mid-sized luxury yachts and Prestige fills that space perfectly. We’re proud to officially bring Prestige Yachts into our portfolio and look forward to introducing this world-class brand to more clients in Taiwan.”

The April 15-18 on-water show will be held across three marinas as part of the China International Consumer Products Expo.

The first Sanya Boat Festival will be held in Hainan from April 15-18 as part of the fifth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), a fast-growing international event expected to feature more than 4,100 brands from over 70 countries and regions.

The Sanya Boat Festival has been billed as the official on-water component of the CICPE and is expected to feature 150 yachts and 45 exhibitors across three venues: Sanya International Yacht Center, Visun International Marina and Serenity Coast Marina.

Formally known as CICPE Sanya Boat Festival, the four-day boat show will be organised by the Hainan International Economic Development Bureau and the People’s Government of Sanya, and hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, and the People’s Government of Hainan Province.

The four-day boat show has been described as “a vital showcase and implementation platform for yacht-related policies under the Hainan Free Trade Port initiative”. Since 2020, the island province has been developing as a Free Trade Port, and is the country’s largest special economic zone.

The theme of the first Sanya Boat Festival is ‘Yacht +’, a concept “merging marine lifestyle, fashion culture, investment and watersports into a dynamic and immersive showcase”, according to organisers.

Show visitors will be able to witness Vera Wang’s haute couture debut on a floating runway and take romantic cruises aboard rose-themed yachts, or even combine luxury yachting with diving and undersea exploration.

Special highlights include an exhibition of innovative water toys and marine technologies; a Clipper Race ambassador sharing the extraordinary journey between everyday people and the sea; and the ‘Sanya Boat Night’ investment salon, which will unite top industry figures and HNWIs. On-water activities will include fishing tournaments, sailing regattas and water displays.

“Sanya’s harbour will come alive like never before with global maritime energy,” show organisers stated. “Powered by unique policy advantages, sailor-friendly weather conditions, and continuously upgraded infrastructure, Sanya is emerging as one of Asia-Pacific’s most dynamic marine destinations.”

Derani Yachts has announced its Singapore Yachting Festival line-up, which comprises two Greenline flybridge models, two Axopar adventure boats, and a brokerage yacht.

Greenline 48 Fly

Derani Yachts has confirmed that it will display five models at this year’s Singapore Yachting Festival, which will be held at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove from April 10-13. The region’s leading boat show will follow the two-day Southeast Asia Yachting Conference (April 8-9) and Yacht Style Awards on the Wednesday evening (April 9).

Derani, founded in Thailand in 2004, has represented Greenline in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia since 2023. A pioneer of hybrid motoryachts since 2008, the Slovenian shipyard offers all its models from 39-58ft with either hybrid, electric or diesel drives, with hardtop solar panels and LiPo batteries powering all electrical appliances including air-conditioning.

Greenline 45 Fly

The dealership’s Singapore display will include a two-cabin Greenline 45 Fly with hybrid propulsion and a three-cabin Greenline 48 Fly powered by Yanmar diesel engines, with the yachts docked at D13 and D14 respectively. Both the Greenline 45 and 48 models are also available from the Slovenian builder in Coupe versions, offering larger solar panel coverage on the hardtop.

Derani is also a dealer for Axopar and is exhibiting the Finnish brand’s new 29 Cross Cabin and 37 Sun Top models, which will be berthed at D11 and D12 respectively at the Sentosa Cove marina.

Axopar 29 Cross Cabin

Axopar staged the world premiere of the 29 in its enclosed Cross Cabin and open Sun Top versions at Boot Dusseldorf 2024, with the model succeeding the iconic Axopar 28, the brand’s first and best-selling model. The 29 Cross Cabin features a fully enclosable walk-around wheelhouse, a single 400hp Mercury engine and two cabins.

The Axopar 37 Sun Top is the hard top version of the brand’s second-biggest and second-most popular model, having been launched in 2015 and upgraded for 2020. The latest 37 Sun Top includes an extended full-length roof and smart storage solutions, while also offering the driver-centric performance and handling the brand is renowned for.

Axopar 37 Sun Top in Thailand

Derani’s line-up in Singapore is completed by an “exceptional brokerage yacht”, a three-cabin Selene 62 Ocean Explorer located at D15. Built in Zhuhai, the full-displacement, trawler-style boat was delivered in Hong Kong in May 2024 and completed her maiden voyage to Singapore alongside Selene Yachts founder Howard Chen.

Powered by twin John Deere 180hp engines, the 62 Ocean Explorer – which has an overall length of almost 70ft – cruises for up to 2,000 nautical miles at nine knots or more than 4,000 nautical miles at seven knots, and is “presented in outstanding condition” according to Derani.

The dealership encouraged visitors to its stand at the ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, stating: “We warmly invite visitors to our exhibition area and exclusive line-up of luxury yachts and high-performance motorboats at the Singapore Yachting Festival. Explore the intricate details of our boats and take advantage of our special show offers.”

Headquartered in Phuket and led by founder Hakan Lange, Derani also represents Wider (Italy), Horizon (Taiwan), Fleming (USA) and Brabus Marine, the German-founded tuner producing upgraded versions of Axopar models. Derani provides sales of new and used boats, handover and training, warranty and service, yacht management, insurance, crew and maintenance.

Silent Yachts launches SY62 3-Deck Closed

The Italian shipyard has splashed the first Closed version of its SY62 3-Deck, as the solar-electric catamaran builder embarks on a pivotal year of production.

The SY62 3-Deck Closed features an enclosed flybridge

Silent Yachts, a world leader in solar-electric powercats, has launched the first unit of its SY62 3-Deck Closed in Fano on Italy’s east coast. The model is distinguished by an enclosed flybridge, which “makes the new variant perfect for hotter climates such as Asia”, according to the Italian shipyard, whose dealers in the region include MAG Subsea in Singapore.

On the first SY62 3-Deck Closed, the forward part of the upper deck is dedicated to an owner’s studio apartment, with sliding glass doors opening to a covered aft deck. The SY62 is also available in the original 2-Deck version, featuring a small flybridge covered by a retractable roof, plus the popular 3-Deck Open edition, which has a large flybridge covered by a hard top.

The seventh SY62 3-Deck Open was launched earlier this year, ahead of the first SY62 3-Deck Closed. The shipyard plans to splash another seven SY62 models and the first SY80 later this year, for a total of 10 launches in 2025.

The bold prediction follows the launch of six SY62 3-Deck Open yachts last year and the model’s world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, as the company revived productivity since being acquired by new owners in March 2024.

Fabrizio Iarrera, CEO of Silent Yachts, said: “The incredible work we have put in to build the brand back into serious business health has paid off, and the arrival of the new Closed version of the SY62 3-Deck is a really proud moment for us.

“It has been less than a year since we stepped in, but this new addition highlights the quality and innovation of our models, which stand as the world’s most advanced solar-powered serious cruising catamarans.”

The Sanlorenzo-owned shipyard has teamed up with Edmiston to promote 40m-plus alloy sailing yachts, starting with a Malcolm McKeon design.

Massimo Perotti (Sanlorenzo), Giovanni Pomati (Nautor Swan), Bruce Brakenhoff and Jamie Edmiston (Edmiston)

Nautor Swan and Edmiston, a global brokerage house, have announced a collaboration to promote a new line of alloy Swan sailing yachts, starting from 40m (131ft). The Finnish shipyard stated that the venture “represents a bold step into a new market, not just in terms of size but also material, introducing a new range of sailing yachts designed for a discerning and forward-thinking clientele”.

The first proposal in the alloy range is a 42m offering by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design and is based on a design philosophy that “combines performance, comfort and innovation with elegance and modernity”.

Nautor Swan stated that sustainability will be at the core of each design, with options including hydrogeneration and the likes of methanol and hydrogen, both of which Sanlorenzo – Nautor Swan’s parent company since 2024 – is already using on its motor yachts.

Massimo Perotti, Sanlorenzo’s Executive Chairman, said: “We acquired Nautor Swan to complement our product offering, entering the sailing segment with the most iconic brand. Sanlorenzo and Nautor Swan share similar values, catering to a club of ‘connoisseur’ yachtsmen who are passionate about the sea.

“We are actively exploring new markets and have exciting plans, with sailing also positioning itself as a sustainable choice. Our partnership with Edmiston is a natural progression of our shared vision, which opens new opportunities for the future of both brands.”

Nautor Swan has built more than 2,350 yachts between 28-131ft since it was founded in Finland in 1966, and is represented across Asia-Pacific by Simpson Marine. The first Swan 128, designed by German Frers, is nearing completion in Pietarsaari and is the shipyard’s second-longest model to date, following the Swan 131 Aristarchos launched in 2006.

The shipyard currently produces three lines of sailing yachts – Swan Yachts (48-65), Swan Maxi Yachts (80-128), and ClubSwan Yachts (28-125) – and builds most models in Pietarsaari, while producing its motor yachts in Italy.

Building on its experience in sailing superyachts, the shipyard says its new range of 40m-plus alloy yachts is based on a “shared vision to elevate Nautor Swan’s global presence, furthering its legacy in the maxi yacht segment”.

The commercial partnership was announced at the Palm Beach International Boat Show

Giovanni Pomati, CEO of Nautor Swan, said: “This partnership with Edmiston is vital to completing a strategic operation that will leverage the collective expertise of Sanlorenzo in the superyacht industry. The collaboration will create a powerful synergy of knowledge, ensuring the success of an ambitious global project and technology transfer opportunities to the sailing segment.”

US-based Bruce Brakenhoff is Edmiston’s primary contact for the project. Edmiston’s office in Newport, Rhode Island, will serve as the operational hub for the promotion and sales activities of the new yacht range, marking a significant return for Nautor Swan to Newport, a renowned sailing hub in the northeast.

Jamie Edmiston, Chief Executive of Edmiston, said: “Nautor Swan is one of the iconic names within the sailing yacht world. We are excited to embark on this journey with Sanlorenzo and Nautor Swan to establish the brand at the pinnacle of performance sailing yacht production. Working closely with Massimo and Giovanni, with Bruce leading from Edmiston, we are optimistic and excited for the future.”

In other news, Sanlorenzo has appointed Renato Bisignani as Group Chief Marketing & Communications Officer. Leading the Brand, Marketing & Communications division, Bisignani will work closely with the company’s top management to develop and implement new strategies aimed at further strengthening the brand identity and enhancing the Group’s global visibility.

“I am extremely proud and enthusiastic to work alongside such a visionary entrepreneur and a true innovator in the yachting industry like Mr Perotti,” Bisignani said. “Over the past 20 years, he has transformed Sanlorenzo into a symbol of Italian excellence and a global leader in the sector. Together with a highly skilled team, we now embrace the challenge of projecting Sanlorenzo into a future vision, while respecting the authentic values of the brand.”

The Polish shipyard has revealed major upgrades to its existing models, starting with the Sunreef 80 sailing catamaran.

Sunreef Yachts has announced its Next generation of catamarans, “reimagining the range to push the boundaries of design and functionality”. Sunreef builds most of its sailing and large power catamarans in its two shipyards in Poland, while it has a UAE facility dedicated to its Ultima powercats.

The Next generation introduces major upgrades to existing models, starting with the Sunreef 80 sailing catamaran, which debuted at the 2018 Cannes Yachting Festival. The first hull of the Sunreef 80 Eco, featuring the shipyard’s proprietary integrated solar panels and other energy-saving technology, debuted in 2022.

However, the Next design has introduced a series of design and layout changes, starting with an aft cockpit now featuring foldout platforms that create a 13.4m ‘walkaround private beach’ when combined with the hydraulic aft platform.

The redesigned cockpit is now significantly larger and includes lounging chairs on each side that offer stunning ocean views. The yacht also features a garage, allowing it to carry a jetski and a variety of water toys. The galley can now be directly accessed from the cockpit, offering more privacy for guests and easier service.

On the foredeck or bow terrace, owners can choose between the classic trampoline layout or opt for oversized sunpads, while the sunken seating and lounging area now includes thicker seats and backrests for increased comfort.

On the top deck, the flybridge has been redesigned with a flush surface, creating a sleeker look and a more open space that can be customised with freestanding furniture.

The new-look master suite can include a bathtub

Meanwhile, the master suite has been redesigned to include a more spacious stateroom, with enough room to accommodate a bathtub, while a drop-down terrace is another appealing aspect. Sunreef plans to release further updates on its Next evolution.

Following the debuts of the GTX116 in 2023 and GTX80 in 2024, Pershing has launched the first GTX70 in Fano, after the yacht was transported 20km along on Italy’s east coast from the brand’s main production facility in Mondolfo. The hull was produced at the Ferretti Group Plug and Mould facility located an hour away in Forlì, home of the Ferretti Group headquarters.

Featuring an overall length of almost 72ft and a near-18ft beam, the GTX70 is the third and smallest model in Pershing’s ‘sport utility yacht’ series, and another collaboration between Vallicelli Design and the Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee led by Piero Ferrari and its Engineering Department.

“GTX70 delivers the sporty spirit and incredibly liveable spaces of the previous models, but in a more compact format that promises a sensational new on-board experience,” Pershing stated.

Fitted with three 900hp Volvo Penta D13-IPS1200 units, the GTX70 has a cruising speed of 30 knots and a top speed of 35 knots based on preliminary data. The CE class A yacht has a lower deck with three en-suite guest cabins, a main deck and a sportbridge.

Hull one is finished in classic Pershing grey and shows off an exterior design that reprises some of the styling of other GTX models including the near-vertical bow of the GTX80. The slightly convex, stanchion-free sheerline runs from bow to stern, joining up with the aft bulwarks, which open out on either side of the cockpit to form two terraces and expand the beach area.

When the side terraces are open, the beach club has a total surface area of 23sqm, with the first unit including an optional sunpad. The stern swim platform with dual linear lift technology increases the available space by aligning the platform with the beach area and can also be used to launch a jetski or a Williams TurboJet 325 tender.

The GTX70 includes a 16sqm sportbridge

On the main deck, the aft cockpit has a C-shaped sofa and a table, and is fully shaded by the sportfly. As on the GTX80, the cockpit and interior areas are connected via the galley and its up-down glass window.

The widebody structure increases space in the saloon, which contains two facing L-shaped sofas, which are finished in dark nubuck leather upholstery on the first unit. The ceilings of both the saloon and lower deck are decorated with LED light strips that deliver diffused light.

The 16sqm sportbridge is split into three spacious areas, for sunbathing, dining and the helm station. The first hull also features the innovative electric bimini top with prepreg carbon poles, available as an option, which can be used to shade the dining area and helm.

Damen Yachting launches first Xplorer 60

The first Xplorer 60 has been launched at Damen Yachting’s build facility in Antalya on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast.

Damen Yachting has launched hull one of the Xplorer 60, a model formerly known as the SeaXplorer 60 before the luxury explorer series was rebranded. Available for a summer delivery, Xplorer 6001 is now entering its final outfitting phase in Turkey, including commissioning and sea trials.

Featuring naval architecture by Damen Yachting, the 60m superyacht has hybrid power and propulsion, a fully certified helideck, an Ice Class steel hull, and IMO Polar Code-compliant engineering.

Rose Damen, Managing Director of Damen Yachting, said: “Since introducing our SeaXplorer concept in 2015, Damen Yachting has become well-established as the luxury explorer yacht leader.

“We expect the future will see more owners demanding the autonomy, safety, flexibility and luxury that the Xplorer series offers, which is why we decided to build the Xplorer 60 on spec for fast delivery. Xplorer 6001 is the only luxury explorer yacht available in her class and an amazing opportunity.”

Dutch studio Azure Yacht Design drew the exteriors of the 1,160GT yacht, while H2 Yacht Design – which has offices in the UK and France – handled the interiors including accommodation for 12 guests and 16 crew plus a captain.

Exploration-focused features include a crow’s nest and an observation lounge with direct access to the foredeck and which allows owners and guests enticing views of wildlife and spectacular scenery. The open aft main deck can be used to store and deploy a limo tender, crew tender and jetskis, while the aft bridge deck can include a special spa area, with the option of a full-size whirlpool.

The Xplorer 60 follows the SeaXplorer 58 Pink Shadow and SeaXplorer 77 La Datcha, which have both enjoyed significant success on the charter market.

Salih Saim Kaya, Damen Yachting Project Manager Xplorer 6001, said: “Being involved in the creation of this new series of Xplorer yachts has been a delight. The possibility of new owners having access to an Xplorer yacht of this calibre and luxury will be industry changing.”

Damen Yachting, the yachting division of the Damen Shipyards Group, builds Amels superyachts, Xplorer luxury expedition yachts and Yacht Support vessels.

Built on the same platform as the upcoming Eighty 2 sailing cat, the Eighty 3 will become the French builder’s flagship motoryacht.

Lagoon is scheduled to stage the world premiere of its Eighty 3 power catamaran at the 2026 Miami International Boat Show, which will be held in Florida from February 12-16. The Eighty 3 shares the same 23.91m (78ft 5in) hull as Lagoon’s upcoming Eighty 2 sailing catamaran, which will have its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival from September 9-14.

Like the Eighty 2, the Eighty 3 is a CE-certified yacht (A:14, B:18, C:24, D:40) and features naval architecture by VPLP Design, exterior design by Patrick le Quément and interiors by Italy’s Nauta Design.

However, the Eighty 3 offers more living space than its sailing sister, with a solid foredeck and a bigger flybridge – that can be covered in solar panels – contributing to 430sqm (4,628sqft) of living space. Fitted with two 580hp John Deere engines, the powercat has a transatlantic range of 3,500 nautical miles with a 8,500-litre fuel capacity.

The yacht’s design includes an open aft cockpit and a huge swim platform, of up to 22sqm, which can be configured to accommodate a jetski or a tender or simply as a waterside lounge area.

The portside staircase offers a safe, gentle incline to the flybridge, which offers 50sqm of space that can be personalised and configured by an owner and include a Raymarine-equipped helm station with joystick, dining table, outdoor galley and social areas.

The flybridge also offers large areas for solar panels including on the hard top and the aft overhang, with a Lithium battery pack also part of the yacht’s energy-saving technology.

The solid foredeck – accessed by two wide side decks and also from the saloon – has a sunken lounging area while the forward area can be dressed with loose furniture.

A huge modular saloon connects the aft cockpit and foredeck, and can be configured with a long dining table to port and a large lounge area to starboard, with the whole area illuminated by large windows. The forward area can include a bar area and lower helm station.

Interior furnishings feature fine materials including a marble table, armchairs with braided leather backrests, decorative glass panels, natural stone countertops, and woodwork in a brushed finish.

In the hulls, the Eighty 3 can provide four, five or six guest cabins, as well as crew accommodation. Like on the Seventy 7 and Seventy 8 models, the owner’s suite includes a king-sized bed with sea views and a large drop-down balcony that offers a private sanctuary over the water.

The Eighty 3 is in production at the Construction Navale Bordeaux, which builds all of Lagoon’s 50ft-plus catamarans. Bio-sourced resin and hemp fibre are being used in the hull, as well as on-structural parts, which dramatically lowers the CO² emissions in production.

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC) has announced details of the first Eastern Asia Offshore Race, a 350nm eastern run from Hong Kong to Tainan in southwest Taiwan. The race is set to begin in Hong Kong on May 29, with the start line in front of RHKYC’s Kellett Island Clubhouse and the start signal sounding at 11.20am.

With the race starting in late May, organisers hope the fleet will be able to make the most of the south-westerly monsoon, which could provide a fast downwind passage. The 350nm race is expected to take competitors between two to three days to complete.

Participating yachts can also take advantage of joining the Taiwan Ryukyu Regatta, another popular offshore race in the region, which will start on June 8.

The Eastern Asia Offshore Race is organised by RHKYC with the cooperation of Argo Yacht Club in Tainan, and provides competitors with a new and exciting offshore race destination.

RHKYC has a long history of organising races and regattas, both locally and offshore. Since 1962 it has organised races to the Philippines, while in the 1990s it created offshore races to new destinations including Vietnam and Hainan in southern China. In 2011 and 2012, it held races to Kaohsiung, south of Tainan, with the Eastern Asia Offshore Race marking a return to Taiwan. hktaiwanrace.com
