New Ferretti Yachts and Pershing motoryachts are among world premieres at this year’s Venice Boat Show.

Ferretti Yachts 940

Ferretti Group is displaying seven yachts including two world premieres at the Venice Boat Show, which will be held in the heart of the Arsenale over four days from May 29-June 2. The Ferretti Yachts 940 and Pershing GTX70 are both marking their global debuts at the sixth edition of the Venice show, which has been strongly supported by Ferretti Group since its inception.

The Ferretti Yachts 940 is making her first public appearance after the hull’s launch in January from the Cattolica shipyard. Ferretti Yachts’ second-biggest Flybridge model, the 940 is another design collaboration between Filippo Salvetti for exterior styling, IdeaeItalia for interiors, Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee chaired by Piero Ferrari, and its Engineering Department.

Featuring an overall length of 95ft 1in (28.97m) and a beam of 22ft 3in (6.78m), the Ferretti Yachts 940 has a top speed of 25 knots and a cruising speed of 21 knots with twin 2,000mhp MAN V12 engines. Like on the flagship 1000, the master suite is forward on the main deck, while the four lower-deck guest cabins include one with sliding beds.

Pershing GTX70

With Pershing celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the first hull of the Pershing GTX70 was launched in the water in March and is the third model in the brand’s Sport Utility Yachts range, complementing the GTX116 and GTX80.

Featuring an overall length of almost 72ft and a near-18ft beam, the GTX70 is another collaboration between Vallicelli Design and the Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee and Engineering Department. Ferretti Group’s seven-boat line-up in Venice also includes a Pershing 8X (84ft), wallywhy100 (70ft), Riva’s 68’ Diable and Dolceriva (48ft), plus an Itama 45RS.

Ferretti Group’s participation at the show includes collaborations with Dolce & Gabbana, Hotel Gritti Palace (home to a Riva Lounge), Lavazza, Range Rover, La Scolca, Aperol, Seabob, Frette, Lanerossi, Zimmer + Rohde, Atelier Rebul, Venini/Murano, Zanta, Bang & Olufsen, Flexjet and Torello.

Following the deliveries of Bad Company Support 175 and Five Oceans in 2024, Damen Yachting’s third YS53 has begun sea trials and remains on course for a summer 2025 handover. Like the first two 53m Yacht Support vessels, the third YS53 was built at Damen Yachting’s Turkey facility in Antalya.

Pim Oostra, Damen Yachting Project Manager for the third YS53, said: “We are delighted that this YS53 has started the sea trial phase of her build. It’s an important step towards her imminent build completion set for this summer. She is the third from this all-new YS53 design and is a great example of our Yacht Supports, which are built for purpose and non-stop reliability.”

Damen Yachting is responsible for exterior and interior design, and naval architecture of the 497GT support vessel, which “has been specifically developed for owners with an active, dynamic lifestyle who seek capability and multifunctionality”.

The exterior features sharp, angular lines and is fronted by an axe bow design engineered to slice through waves and reduce vertical motion for a smoother ride. The high bow and pronounced spray rails keep the deck dry, ensuring safety and comfort while protecting sensitive equipment from salt water.

As well as an extensive aft deck space, the 175ft superyacht has a top speed of 19 knots, a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, and accommodation for eight guests and 10 crew plus a captain.

Damen Yachting, the yachting division of the Damen Shipyards Group, has built over 20 Yacht Support vessels, while its other lines include Xplorer luxury expedition yachts and Amels superyachts.

Amor à Vida leaving the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona

CRN’s 67m Amor à Vida embarked on its first cruise in the Mediterranean in May, having been delivered earlier in the month. Formerly known as Project Maranello, the full-custom, six-deck superyacht was handed over to the owner after completing tests and trials at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, on Italy’s east coast.

Moran Yacht & Ship acted on behalf of the owner and oversaw project management throughout the construction process. The brokerage house’s involvement spanned from technical evaluations and approvals to hands-on project coordination, including onsite supervision and support in managing external contractors.

The Group’s superyacht engineering team handled the naval architecture of the steel and aluminium displacement superyacht, while CRN worked with Nuvolari Lenard for the exterior styling. “Amor à Vida’s exterior design is sleek, dynamic and elegantly sculpted, reflects a strong and distinctive identity in perfect alignment with the owner’s vision, personal tastes and lifestyle,” CRN stated.

Nuvolari Lenard designed the yacht’s exterior and interior

Nuvolari Lenard also designed the interiors in collaboration with Valentina Zannier, who spent over two decades with the Venice-based design firm before establishing her own studio in 2023.

Featuring an 11.8m beam, Amor à Vida has a volume of 1,450GT and accommodates up to 12 guests within the owner’s suite on the upper deck, a full-beam VIP cabin (convertible into two cabins) on the main deck, and five guest cabins on the lower deck.

The propulsion and onboard energy management are developed around a hybrid propulsion system, which increases the fuel efficiency of the two MTU 12V 4000 M63 diesel engines and the generators, and improves guests’ comfort while underway. IMO Tier III certified, the yacht has a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 16 knots.

An advanced heat-recovery system enhances the efficiency of hot-water management across the pools and plumbing network. By repurposing excess heat, the system significantly reduces energy consumption and operational costs, while streamlining hot-water supply throughout the yacht.

Part of the Ferretti Group since 1999, CRN was founded in Ancona in 1963 and designs, engineers and builds fully custom steel and aluminium superyachts from 50m up at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard.

The 80,000sqm-plus Ancona shipyard also produces Riva and Pershing metal superyachts, and is home to Custom Line’s fibreglass and metal yachts. Ferretti Yachts, Itama and Wally are also among brands within Ferretti Group, which owns seven shipyards across Italy, has about 60 dealers and exports to more than 70 countries.

Benetti’s Livorno shipyard welcomes the public

Benetti kicked off the second World Boating Day a week ahead of schedule, but set the bar with a stunning event that featured over 2,000 people visiting the builder’s Livorno shipyard on Italy’s west coast.

Benetti hosted the special event earlier than the official World Boating Day date of May 24 so it could double up as a highlight of the final day of Blu Livorno, the city’s new biennial event dedicated to the sea and water. Blu Livorno focused on the marine economy and was aimed at citizens, public administrations, private companies, schools and local associations.

Last year, Benetti participated in the first World Boating Day, and this year again played a major role in the Superyacht Life Foundation initiative, hosting a wide range of activities that all enjoyed strong attendance.

Employees of Benetti and the Lusben refit shipyard took centre stage, serving as speakers and guides. All age groups were engaged and inspired by activities including painting workshops for children, seaside pilates sessions, storytelling at the Museum, plus visits to the Isola della Vela sailing boat and Leonardo, a NATO research vessel.

The day continued with a round table discussion with maritime institutes and ISYL (Italian Super Yacht Life Institute) students and concluded with a concert by the young musicians of the Mascagni Orchestra.

“It was a day for the whole family but above all an opportunity to promote a culture of boating among young people, encourage them to discover the world of yachting, and attract new talent, potentially turning into future job opportunities in a sector that is vital to the entire economy,” Benetti stated.

During the closing ceremony of the Blu Livorno at the Aquarium Terrace, Livorno Mayor Luca Salvetti, alongside Lusben General Manager Ferdinando Pilli representing the Azimut-Benetti Group, announced the symbolic handover of five French naval cannons, currently preserved by Benetti, to the Livorno community.

Furthermore, the Mayor and Angela Rafanelli, Livorno’s Councillor for Culture, presented the Vitelli family with a prestigious honour, ‘To Those Who Love the Sea and Water’. Giovanna Vitelli is Chair of Azimut-Benetti Group, which was owned by her father, the late Paolo Vitelli, who founded Azimut in 1969 and bought Benetti in 1985.

Maritimo stages premieres at Sanctuary Cove

SHARE

Maritimo stages premieres at Sanctuary Cove

SHARE

The Australian shipyard is hosting the world premieres of the new M50 and S60 at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Words: Bruce Maxwell; Images: Maritimo

The M50 is capable of cruising in any conditions while those onboard enjoy a high level of comfort

For more than 60 years, Maritimo has designed and handcrafted stylish and luxurious long-range motoryachts on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Founder Bill Barry-Cotter and his team ensure that their passion for being on the sea shines through with every ocean-going vessel they build, including the M50 flybridge due to premiere at the 2025 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (May 22-25).

Maritimo has always been a brand of evolution and the M50 – which has an LOA of 15.7m (51ft 6in) and a beam of 5.22m (17ft 2in) – takes cues from the brand’s sporty sedans, such as the flagship S75 and the recent Black Editions of the S55 and S60, while adding its own unique elements to the formula.

Collaboration with current and prospective Maritimo owners, following the global announcement of this new model at last year’s Sanctuary Cove show, has cultivated further refinements and enhancements.

The M50’s saloon is bright and spacious

A key design focus was creating one deck level from the cockpit all the way through to the galley. Other refinements include maximising the headroom throughout the vessel (to 1.9m minimum), benefiting the staterooms, galley, saloon and bridge. The exterior design prioritises safety and exploration, with walk-around decks that grant easy access to the foredeck, making it ideal for families and pet owners.

The accommodation floor plan delivers a class-leading, full-beam master stateroom space with a walkaround king-size bed and en-suite, along with a large VIP stateroom featuring a double bed that splits into two singles, and an abundance of overhead storage lockers. The scale and grandeur of both bathrooms have also been increased.

“The two-stateroom format frees up space for use by the primary occupants,” said Neil McCabe, Maritimo’s Design Office Manager. “The entire length of the master is filled with light from the huge through-hull window, which has two opening portholes on both sides to deliver ample fresh air when at anchor. A single-level floor, two large hanging wardrobes, and a massive bathroom ensure the owner enjoys an elevated level of comfort and satisfaction that Maritimos are renowned for.”

The fully enclosed flybridge doubles as a second-storey retreat

The M50’s fully enclosed flybridge doubles as a second-storey retreat. This innovative feature provides a sheltered, serene environment regardless of weather conditions, with an optional foldout sofa bed to accommodate more guests.

The addition of an integrated hydraulic lifting and hinged swim platform reduces the overhang and vessel length when docked. The twin 800hp Volvo D13 engines, super-efficient ZF 325 shaft drive, and hull-design technology ensure the best fuel consumption in its class.

“In all, 24 knots cruising, with 30 knots at full pace, seems to be the order of the day from the twin 800hp inline sixes that fit so well into the engine room,” McCabe said. “We should be around 25 metric tonnes dry weight. This is very much part of our client expectations.”

S60 SEDAN

The S-Series is Maritimo’s single-level experience. Socialising and entertainment flows seamlessly inside and out from saloon to cockpit on essentially one deck. Feedback from owners has largely led to enhanced layouts that support the amount of time spent and activities pursued in key areas of these boats.

Maritimo, M50, S60, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Neil McCabe

Inheriting sweeping contours of the S-Series, the S60’s new hull design features a variable deadrise, deep keel and sharp bow entry

Another essential aspect, when designing for long-range capability, is storage options for additional supplies, water toys, fishing gear, safety equipment and tenders, using particularly the aft garage lazarette. The expansive aft adventure deck can be lifted via electric actuators to reveal the largest garage lazarette in any Maritimo to date.

It can house a 3.2m tender, or select two-person jet skis, when optioned with a 350kg rear davit, or alternatively, the fully-lined garage space can be used to store additional supplies and other adventure toys such as kayaks, SUPs and Scuba gear.

Maritimo’s design division has enabled the mostly unused sedan hardtop to be pressed into service as deck space, accessed via an overhead hatch and ladder from the ‘upper cockpit’, which is where the only one-step level change occurs. The hardtop itself can carry a 350kg davit and tender, freeing up the adventure deck and aft garage space for other purposes.

The upper cockpit comes in three separate options including a U-shaped dining lounge area for six. Connected to the aft galley and luxurious lounging area, this integrates as the social hub of the vessel.

Versatile adventure deck and lazarette aft combine with extra storage options on the reinforced roof

“The S60 further advances Maritimo’s experience in long-range cruising design,” said a spokesman. “The variable deadrise hull with deep keel, sharp bow entry and flattened progression aft focuses on offshore cruising performance, comfort and stability.

“Engrained in the Maritimo ethos of reliability and dependability, the S60’s new hull design and engineering are designed around straight shaft drive technology, with the standard Volvo Penta D13-800mph power units transferring power to the water via an ultra-efficient eight-degree straight shaft angle to the 5 Blade Nibral Propellers.”

The relatively low eight-degree shaft angle also reduces overall draft to a very versatile 1.35m, allowing anchoring in shallower water. Apart from Volvo Penta power, the S60 is available with CAT units to 1,000hp or 1,150hp Scania engines. Her 4,550-litre fuel capacity, combined with Maritimo’s efficient systems, should ensure owners reach distant destinations with minimal stops.

The Custom Line 50 superyacht and Azimut’s Seadeck 7 were among award winners during the four-day Blue Design Summit, which was held in La Spezia on Italy’s west coast from May 13-16. An annual event focusing on yacht design, innovation and culture, the Blue Design Summit again attracted industry leaders, top companies, designers and international shipyards.

The Blue Design Awards gala dinner was held at Teatro Civico on the event’s second evening. Custom Line’s 50m aluminium flagship won the Living Innovation category “for the architectural vision behind a revolutionary interior layout that introduces unprecedented living solutions in this market segment”, according to the Ferretti Group brand.

Custom Line 50 owner’s suite

“What convinced the panel of judges was the deck devoted entirely to the owner, with a 75sqm suite at the bow featuring a private terrace, spaces flooded with natural light, and separated crew and guest flows to ensure maximum privacy,” Custom Line stated. “This exclusive design approach revisits the onboard lifestyle through a contemporary lens.”

Azimut’s full-hybrid Seadeck 7 won the General Concept award by embodying the series’ ‘Gentle at Sea’ philosophy, which focuses on an “authentic experience in close connection with nature with the best solutions to reduce CO emissions by up to 40 per cent”, the shipyard stated. The yacht features a full-hybrid system developed with Volvo Penta, advanced naval architecture and extensive use of carbon.

Alberto Mancini’s exterior design includes the line’s signature ‘Fun Island’ beach club area, while Azimut’s focus on natural, recycled and recyclable materials led to the choice of Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez to design the interiors for both the Seadeck 6 and Seadeck 7.

Nautor Swan – represented in Asia-Pacific by Simpson Marine – has splashed the first hull of its new flagship Swan 128 at its Boatbuilding Technology Centre in Pietarsaari, where the entire fibreglass Swan line and full-carbon Maxi Swan models are produced.

The brand’s second-longest model to date, after the Swan 131 (2006), will be fully classed under RINA and remains on course for its world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show from September 24-27. The 39m superyacht heads an upgraded Swan Maxi range that includes the Swan 108 (2023), the Swan 88 (2024), as well as the new Swan 80 set to show in 2026.

Giovanni Pomati, CEO of Nautor Swan, said: “We consider the new Swan 128 the ultimate expression of our evolution. She combines the purity of our design lines with comfortable interiors and a wide use of advanced technologies. We are truly proud and see this yacht as a benchmark in the world of maxi sailing.”

Following the launch, the shipyard stated that “in just a few weeks, she will be ready to sail, heading to the Mediterranean for cruising, racing, and eventually reaching her home port in Porto Cervo”.

The Swan 128 features naval architecture by German Frers, deck and coachroof styling by Micheletti+Partners, and interiors by Misa Poggi, with significant contributions from the in-house design and product development teams.

The design philosophy behind the new Swan 128 aligns with the core principles established for the Swan 108 but with greater attention devoted to performance, aesthetics and interior layout.

Frers has enhanced performance through a detailed CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis, conducted by Cape Horn Engineering, which allowed for the optimisation of the canoe body’s shape under all dynamic sailing conditions.

The adoption of a double rudder system improves control, even at high speeds, while a moderate heel angle – around 20° in optimal conditions – enhances onboard comfort under sail. The VPP polars are “exceptional”, according to Nautor Swan, with peak speeds well above 17 knots.

The exterior has been refined by focusing on the relationship between the hull and the superstructure, achieving a sleek, agile and sporty look, while incorporating a semi-raised saloon. The bow has been designed to ensure optimal separation between the headstay and the code zero without requiring a bowsprit, so enhancing performance and sail handling.

The cockpit layout follows the classic three-area division that defines all Swan yachts. The forward area, close to the deckhouse, is dedicated to guests and protected by a sprayhood and a bimini top (with an optional retractable rigid structure). The standard configuration includes C-shaped sofas, a double table and an aft-facing sundeck, while the flat floor offers multiple options for owners.

The central cockpit area houses all the essential controls for handling the yacht, including panoramic helms and sheet winches. A second companionway in this area provides direct access from the crew quarters to the helms.

The stern is dedicated to the beach club, which connects to the large swim platform, an area that can be further extended with an optional double-action platform, exclusive to the latest Swan models, while the tender garage can accommodate a 4.9m RIB/tender.

The interior is a collaboration between Poggi, Frers, Nautor Swan’s interiors department and the owner’s team.

The elevated saloon benefits from three levels of natural light and panoramic views, with the lounge and dining areas well separated in the standard configuration, although the layout allows for numerous customisation options. Day beds can be included to take advantage of the large hull windows. The TV lounge, directly connected to the raised living room, can be converted into a large dining room that comfortably seats up to 10 guests.

The forward owner’s quarters feature a master cabin and a full-beam bathroom, and can be customised due to few structural constraints and bulkheads that offer design flexibility. The guest cabins can be arranged to suit individual preferences, offering single or double beds, additional pullman beds, and en-suite bathrooms that can be equipped with bidets.

The entire aft area is dedicated to the crew, with three double cabins, each with its own en-suite bathroom and shower compartment. A double crew mess includes a forward section capable of converting into additional stowage space. The crew area includes a large galley with central island, a walk-in laundry room, and a navigation desk near the stern companionway.

The engine room spans the entire midships area below the saloon, with double-filtered access through a workshop area. The Swan 128 features the latest SCR technology to reduce emissions, in compliance with the latest IMO III regulations. The yacht is equipped with a variable pitch propeller and advanced sound-insulation technologies.

Ferretti Group Asia Pacific hosted a spectacular China premiere for the wallywhy200, which was shown with two other leading models in Shenzhen Bay.

Ferretti Group Asia Pacific and dealer Speedo Marina hosted a memorable China premiere for Wally’s wallywhy200 at the Shenzhen Bay Yacht Club, with the 200GT flagship of the brand’s ‘spaceship’ line looking spectacular as the late afternoon blended into sunset then evening.

First presented globally at Cannes Yachting Festival 2021, the model only made her Asia premiere at Singapore Yachting Festival in April 2024 before following with her China unveiling this May.

Guests enjoyed live jazz, fine wines and gourmet delicacies at a spectacular poolside venue that also offered dramatic views of the golden-hued sunset over the South China Sea, along with daytime and nighttime views of the wallywhy200.

“The vibrant ambience, alive with music and merriment, transformed the night into a truly enchanting Italian-style midsummer celebration,” Ferretti Group Asia Pacific stated.

Wally’s biggest motoryacht since joining Ferretti Group, the high-volume 27m flybridge model was designed to ‘redefine expectations of mid-sized vessels’ and drew gasps from champagne-sipping guests with her revolutionary shape and volume.

Ferretti Group stated that the yacht offers 50 per cent more living space utilisation than traditional yachts of her length yet without making the speed concessions of a displacement yacht.

On the other side of the pontoon from the wallywhy200, Ferretti Group Asia Pacific also showed a Riva 76’ Perseo sport-fly and a Ferretti Yachts 1000, the brand’s flagship Flybridge model, which were both toured by guests and easily visible from the poolside.
