Gulf Craft announces Majesty 160

As it celebrates its 40th anniversary, the UAE builder has revealed its second-largest superyacht, which follows the Majesty 175 delivered last year.

Gulf Craft unveiled its plans for the all-new Majesty 160, which will be the company’s second largest superyacht and follows the announcement of the Majesty 111 at this year’s Dubai International Boat Show.

Designed by Italy’s Cristiano Gatto, the Majesty 160 goes into production this year at Gulf Craft’s main production facilities in Umm Al Quwain. The UAE builder is renowned for building the world’s largest composite-built production superyacht, the Majesty 175 delivered late last year, also designed by Gatto.

Mohammed Alshaali, the co-founder and Chairman of Gulf Craft, said: “The Majesty 160 is an evolution of our Majesty 155 and follows the new design precedent of our Majesty line-up, which was introduced earlier this year with the Majesty 111.

Cristiano Gatto designed the exterior of the 50m superyacht

“The Majesty 160 will be our second-largest vessel and will be a class apart in its segment, catering to the needs and requirements of customers through its exceptional design, architecture and state-of-the-art engineering and technological features.”

Dutch studio Van Oossanen Naval Architects handled the hull design of the Majesty 160, which has an overall length of 164ft (50m) and a volume of 498GT. Twin 2,000hp MTU 16V 2000 M87 engines provide a top speed of almost 20 knots and a range of 3,500nm at 12 knots or 4,300nm at 10.8 knots.

The Majesty 160 has two pairs of zero speed carbon fin stabilisers, twin 100kW generators and solar panels at the top of the sun deck roof capable of powering one of the generators, so reducing fuel consumption.

Outdoor areas include a three-sided beach club

Exterior areas include an expansive sun deck with modular and moveable furniture along with an infinity pool and a customisable, multi-purpose beach club that can be used as a lounge, bar area, gym or health club. The swim platform provides easy access to the water, while fold-down balconies on both sides expand the sunbathing and social areas.

The smart layout has an innovative climate control system and accommodates up to 12 guests across its seven staterooms, which include a full-beam master suite forward on the main deck that includes a private lounge, retractable balcony and a large bathroom with both bath and shower room. The yacht can also accommodate up to nine crew.

Interior of the Majesty 160

Wing stations on the main deck aid manoeuvring in and out of tight marinas and ports, while options include a helm station on the sun deck. The Majesty 160 draws just 2.3m so can cruise shallow areas, enabling close beach access due to its ground-breaking engineering and use of a lightweight, sturdy composite hull.

“Our ongoing expansion plans, extensive global dealer network and a distinct product portfolio have seen us build a strong foothold in international markets, especially in Europe and the United States, where we have witnessed a demand for larger lightweight yachts which provide competitive fuel economy and easy access to shallow waters,” Alshaali said.

“We have listened to our customers and have created the Majesty 160, which reinstates our position as the world’s leader in composite hull production.”

Sub-50m superyachts in demand in Asia

SHARE

Yacht Style rounds up sales and deliveries in Asia of sub-50m superyacht models available from leading shipyards, with Italian and British builders among the favourites of buyers in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand.

Note: The following article is adapted from the original article that appeared in Yacht Style Issue 66

Azimut Grande Trideck

Even in the face of ongoing supply issues for yacht builders, heavy shipping delays and other pandemic-related complications, demand for superyachts in Asia remains strong. For many of the world’s leading luxury yacht production builders, the region remains a key market distinguished by an appetite for larger models compared to other markets around the world.

AZIMUT-BENETTI

Azimut’s superyacht offerings are focused on its Grande series, although it now produces large models in other ranges such as the new Magellano 30 Metri. Yet even before the model has debuted, Marine Italia has sold a unit that’s scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong in 2024.

Azimut Magellano 30 Metri

The Grande 26 Metri and 36 Metri were among Azimut’s premieres at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival and a unit of the former has already been ordered for Hong Kong in 2023 through Marine Italia, which also operates in the city as Azimut Yachts Hong Kong.

However, the company also represents Azimut in Macau, China’s Guangdong province, Taiwan and Singapore, where late last year it sold a 38m Grande Trideck. Asia’s first unit of the Italian builder’s biggest-ever model is scheduled to arrive next year for an owner upgrading from a smaller Grande.

Azimut Grande 26 Metri

Such sales build on the huge success of other Grande models across Asia, which include two hulls of the former flagship 35 Metri in Hong Kong, multiple hulls of the 32 Metri in Singapore and further hulls of those two models along with the 27 Metri and 25 Metri in markets across the region, sold by Marine Italia and other dealers.

Furthermore, recent mainland China sales include a Grande S10, which is the super-sleek flagship of Azimut’s S Collection of sportbridge models and has an overall length of almost 29m (94ft).

Benetti Oasis 40M

Benetti, Azimut’s sister company, is one of the world’s leading superyacht and megayacht builders, earning headlines in recent years for delivering a trio of 100m-plus ‘gigayachts’ – the 108m Luminosity, 108m IJE and 107m Lana.

Its recent sales into Asia include the globally successful Oasis 40M, with one delivered to a North Asia buyer who’s currently keeping it in Europe, and another sold last year to Singapore for a 2023 delivery, a deal secured in collaboration with Marine Italia for an owner upgrading from an Azimut.

Benetti B.Yond 37M

Furthermore, a unit of the upcoming B.Yond 37M, the first model in the brand’s new ‘Voyager’ series, has been sold to Southeast Asia, with delivery expected next year.

Benetti’s other new models include the Oasis 34M that debuted at Cannes in September, while the patented Oasis Deck® has become available across the B.Now family (50M, 60M, 67M, 72M), meaning the ‘beach club extraordinaire’ can be incorporated on models from 34-72m.

FERRETTI GROUP

Ferretti Group includes seven yacht-building brands and five of them sell sub-50m superyachts into Asia, while CRN’s custom builds are also popular across Asia-Pacific, but its recent models are too big to be included in this feature.

Ferretti Yachts 1000 in Taiwan

Asia’s first Ferretti Yachts 1000 is among this year’s most exciting new arrivals, especially as the brand’s flagship only debuted at the Venice Boat Show last year before being shown at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

This region’s first FY1000 was delivered in April to Taiwan, where the 30m flybridge motor yacht began its cruising around the southwest city of Kaohsiung. The yacht was bought by an owner with experience of chartering superyachts in Europe and the sale was completed by Amal Yachting, which has represented Ferretti Yachts, Pershing and Riva in Taiwan since 2019.

The Taiwan unit has a colourful interior full of paintings and includes a beautifully appointed full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck and four roomy guest cabins on the lower deck.

Pershing 140

However, hull one of the sensational Pershing 140 is arguably the most powerful and mind-blowingly innovative new superyacht in Asia in recent years, with the streamline ‘rocket-ship’ among a growing family of superyachts that reside at the new Lantau Yacht Club in Discovery Bay.

Chorusline was bought by an experienced owner who had also acquired multiple Rivas including the first 100’ Corsaro, the brand’s flagship when its world premiere was held in Hong Kong in 2017. The first Pershing 140 was sold by Starship Yachts founder and owner Edwin Ho, while the interior of Chorusline was designed by his wife Edith Ho and features a customised layout.

Other large Pershing models sold in Asia include a Pershing 108 in Thailand, while the builder’s new superyacht models include the GTX116 scheduled to launch in early 2023.

Custom Line Navetta 30 in Hong Kong

Custom Line could lay claim to Asia’s most popular superyacht of recent years with the Navetta 30 model that debuted in late 2020 already securing five sales in Hong Kong and Singapore alone. After the world-premiere hull arrived in Hong Kong in early 2021, a second hull was sold late last year to a first-time yacht owner by Fraser Asia and Ferretti Group Asia Pacific soon after it arrived in the city.

In Singapore, a Navetta 30 bought by a repeat Ferretti Group client is due to arrive in late 2022 following a sale by local dealer Hong Seh Yachting that marks the first new Custom Line bought in the city. The unit will feature an ‘Asia-Pacific layout’ and incorporate a range of tailor-made features.

Custom Line Navetta 42

Two more units of the Navetta 30 are set to arrive in Hong Kong in 2023 and 2024 following sales by Ferretti Group Asia Pacific and local dealer Starship Yachts respectively. The brand’s other sales into the region include a Custom Line 120’ in Hong Kong and Navetta 33 units in Hong Kong and Thailand.

However, the biggest Custom Line model sold in Asia to date is a Navetta 42, which is set to arrive in Asia by the end of 2023 and was the brand’s 137ft flagship until the recent launch of the Custom Line 140’, which debuted at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.

Riva 90’ Argo

All three of Riva’s superyachts from its Flybridge range have proved popular in Asia. The first hull of the current trio, the 100’ Corsaro, even had its world premiere in Hong Kong back in 2017, although the model has since been succeeded by the brand-new 102’ Corsaro Super, which premiered at Cannes this year.

The magnificent 110’ Dolcevita has been sold to Hong Kong and mainland China, while the 90’ Argo is also present in Hong Kong and mainland China.

If there was one model to match the excitement of the arrival of the Pershing 140 into Asia, it could be Wally’s groundbreaking four-engine Wallywhy200.

Wallywhy200

A world premiere at Cannes last year, the first Wally Hybrid Yacht (WHY) introduced the world to an 88ft 8in semi-displacement widebody with a 25ft-plus beam, 15ft 5in-high bow and a staggering volume of 200GT.

Ferretti Group Asia Pacific expects the first Wallywhy200in Asia to arrive in early 2023, with the tailored unit featuring Loro Piana interiors and a formal dining area in the bow of the main deck, which has 270-degree views and was configured as a master suite on hull one and other units.

SANLORENZO SUCCESS

Sanlorenzo’s rapid rise to rank among the world’s leading luxury yacht builders has been reflected in the brand’s success in this region, where it has been represented by Simpson Marine as Sanlorenzo Asia since 2015.

A Sanlorenzo SX112 arriving in Hong Kong

Sanlorenzo Asia’s largest sale is a 52Steel set to launch in Italy this summer before making its way to its new home in Southeast Asia, but the model is just above this feature’s size limit.

Sub-50m models from Sanlorenzo’s Superyacht range that have sold into Asia include the Alloy, a 44.5m, 440GT model that debuted in 2020, with hulls already present in Singapore and Hong Kong. Others include the first 47m 500Exp, Ocean Dreamwalker 3, for an Asian owner who continues to use it in remote regions around the world.

Sanlorenzo SX112 in Hong Kong

Among the builder’s various Yacht ranges, all three current SX models have been sold into Asia, led by the imposing SX112, a model that debuted at the Genoa International Boat Show in October 2020 before two hulls arrived in Hong Kong in late 2021 and June 2022.

Most of the brand’s SD semi-displacement models have been sold into the region, including the 38m series-flagship SD126, with a 2018 build sold into Singapore and a hull arriving in Hong Kong last year, while the SD96 that debuted in 2019 has been sold into Hong Kong and Thailand.

Sanlorenzo SL90A in Hong Kong

However, the newest SD model sold into Asia is the SD118, which was among Sanlorenzo’s three world premieres at the 2021 Cannes show. Sanlorenzo Asia soon sold two units of the SD118, with the first expected to arrive in Asia later this year followed by the second in 2023.

The SL90A, from the builder’s range of planing yachts, was also among Cannes premieres in 2021 and Sanlorenzo Asia quickly sold a unit of the new asymmetric model, which arrived in Hong Kong earlier this year.

Other SL units in Asia include the pioneering SL102A and the SL96A that debuted at Boot Dusseldorf 2020, with a hull of the latter arriving in Asia in 2021.

BEST OF BRITAIN

Sunseeker’s newly launched 100 Yacht only had its global debut at Cannes in September, yet the Poole shipyard has already secured the sale of a hull into this region, which is scheduled to arrive in North Asia in late 2023.

Sunseeker 100 Yacht

NextWave Yachting was appointed as Sunseeker’s dealer in Hong Kong last year and recently secured the sale of Asia’s first 88 Yacht, which was among the brand’s ‘Famous Five’ models launched last year and features one of the most refined interiors of any of the builder’s yachts.

The 100 Yacht and 88 Yacht are part of a new-look Yacht range from 76-100ft that also includes the beamy, high-volume 90 Ocean and its enclosed version, the Ocean 182, representing its volume in GT.

However, demand continues for the builder’s popular 116 Yacht and 131 Yacht models, which have each sold multiple units in Asia including a brand-new, black-hulled 116 destined for Japan that has been described as the model’s most customised edition to date.

In total, Sunseeker has sold 18 units from 100-131ft (30-40m) to Asia, while new designs in its Superyacht range include the 42M Ocean and 50M Ocean, with updates to be revealed at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.

Princess X95

Princess transformed its superyacht offerings when the Plymouth builder stopped production of the 100ft-plus M Class range (30M, 35M, 40M) and switched its focus to the new X Class and larger Y Class models. The decision has proved a winner, with Asia already welcoming multiple units of the widebody X95 – a model premiered online in July 2020 – and more coming.

Southeast Asia’s first X95 arrived in Phuket earlier this year through long-time dealer Boat Lagoon Yachting, which confirmed that two more units of the 29m ‘super flybridge’ flagship will arrive in Singapore and Thailand in 2023.

A representative of Princess since 1994, Boat Lagoon Yachting has also secured the ‘world premiere’ hull of the Y95 – which recently exited its shed in Plymouth – as well as an X80 due to arrive in Southeast Asia in early 2023. Meanwhile, the dealership has secured a remarkable six sales of the Y85 in the region in the past couple of years.

Hong Kong’s first Princess X95 arrived last year and was followed by two more deliveries earlier this year. An X80 is also scheduled to arrive in the city later this year, while Japan’s first X95 was delivered to her owner in June.

Ferretti Group is to continue to use Rolls-Royce MTU engines and propulsion systems to power its yachts, with the companies extending their framework agreement through 2027. Rolls-Royce’s MTU engines and propulsion systems are widely used by Ferretti Group, especially in its larger models.

Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group, said: “I am extremely happy to announce the renewal of the agreement with Rolls-Royce for MTU products and solutions. The five-year term is crucial, because it offers the guarantee that supplies are always available, and prices are sheltered from market swings. This agreement also further increases the efficiency of our supply chain, with clear benefits for us and our customers.”

Andreas Schell, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, said: “Ferretti Group’s renewal of this framework agreement is a tremendous vote of confidence in us and in our MTU products, in a challenging market and a challenging technological environment.”

Ferretti Group said the internal combustion engine will be the power source of choice for applications – including yachts – that require maximum performance from a compact power pack, and will also have an important part to play during the move into sustainable boating. In 2024, a Ferretti Group yacht is scheduled to be built with an MTU hybrid propulsion system.

Moreover, by 2023, the MTU Series 2000 and 4000 yacht engines are scheduled to be approved to run on synthetic sustainable fuels complying with the EN15940 standard. These include fuels such as HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) and e-diesel.

Denise Kurtulus, Vice President of Global Marine at Rolls-Royce Power Systems, said: “Working together, we will meet the climate and environmental challenges that lie ahead.”

From 2024, Ferretti will be equipping smaller yachts with complete MTU NautiQ bridge systems developed together with bridge specialist Team Italia, with whom Rolls-Royce has a close partnership.

ClubSwan 80 races at Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup

The newest Swan racing yacht is among a dozen or sailing models at the Monaco Yacht Show, having already competed in two regattas this month.

The ClubSwan 80 designed by Juan Kouyoumdjian makes its world premiere at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, alongside a Swan 98, after competing in two regattas earlier this month.

My Song, owned by Pier Luigi Loro Piana, competed in the 13-strong Maxi class at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo in early September. Fitted with a canting keel and a single tack-able lifting daggerboard, she won the last of the five races and eventually finished fifth in a class won by Lord Irvine Laidlaw’s Reichel/Pugh 82 Highland Fling XI.

In the subsequent Rolex Swan Cup, also in Porto Cervo, My Song finished third in the Maxi class behind the Swan 90 Freya and the Swan 80 Plis-Play.

Unlike most Swan models, which are built by Nautor in Finland, the ClubSwan 80 was built by Italian builder Persico Marine inland in Nembro, near Bergamo.

Persico Marine’s technology included the Coriolis robot used in the aerospace industry to laminate carbon. The construction method for the yacht was the same used for the carbon ‘arm’ on the current America’s Cup boats.

ClubSwan 80 has a 4.75m canting keel, twin rudders – as per the ClubSwan 36 – and a retractable bowsprit. While the keel is canted, the side-force appendages chosen by the My Song sailing team consist of a rotating canard for upwind performance in light air and tacking ability in tactical situations, common in Maxi fleet racing.

Marcello Persico, CEO of Persico Marine, said: This boat is built to the same standard we use for America’s Cup boats and IMOCA 60s engaged in the toughest ocean races such as The Ocean Race and Vendee Globe.”

My Song had a private launch at La Spezia on Italy’s west coast in late June, as the ClubSwan 80 joined a racing range including the ClubSwan 36, ClubSwan 50 and the ClubSwan 125, Skorpios.

Giovanni Pomati, CEO of Nautor Group, said: “This pure 80ft racer marks another important milestone for us. We have broadened our range to get closer to meeting every need and lifestyle choice of our customers. The market is always asking for something different out of the box, and our ClubSwan Yachts range can offer a fresh, bold and innovative solution, setting the bar high.

“The team of brilliant international minds working on this performance sailing yacht with the goal of building something unique has been quite special. The ClubSwan 80 is a pure racer but is also an incredible yacht for fast sailing, shorthanded sailing and comfortable sports cruising.”

Sanlorenzo’s 73Steel is due for delivery in 2026

Sanlorenzo’s Superyacht Division and Fraser have announced the sale of a Sanlorenzo 73Steel, which is the shipyard’s largest build to date and due for delivery in 2026. Bought by an existing Sanlorenzo yacht owner, the 73Steel is the ninth metal yacht sold by Sanlorenzo this year, increasing the fleet currently under construction to 23 superyachts from 44-73m.

Featuring exterior lines by Zuccon International Project, Sanlorenzo’s new 73m flagship will have a diesel-electric propulsion system aimed at minimising emissions and a “completely unconventional layout that will take the connection between interior and exterior and between man and nature to another level”, according to the shipyard.

Bernardo Zuccon said: “The design of the new 73Steel represents a fascinating new chapter in the yard’s history, not only because of its size, which is currently the largest ever built, but also because it is a testament to how strongly the company believes in the evolution and importance of a complex market such as the superyacht market.

“As designers, we’re proud to participate in this new adventure, basing our project research on the development of a design that, despite the large volumes available, is able to convey extreme dynamism, sportiness and contemporaneity.”

Sanlorenzo is participating at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show with a new 62Steel, Alchemist, and an Alloy, Sailing Grace, launched in 2021.

The 62Steel has a volume of 1,350GT and six decks including an upper deck dedicated to the exclusive use of the owner. The main deck starts with a large pool featuring a transparent floor.

The first 62Steel, Cloud 9, was premiered at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show (click to read Review). Four units have been sold to date, the third of which is scheduled for delivery in early 2023. The fourth unit has grown to a length of 64m and will be renamed 64Steel.

The Alloy has sold 10 units to date. Made entirely of aluminium, the 44.5m superyacht has a Bernardo Zuccon exterior. Special features include an owner’s cabin conceived as a private apartment of 147sqm and organised on three levels connected to each other, with an indoor and an outdoor area.

Simpson Marine represents Sanlorenzo and sister brand Bluegame in Asia.

MYS returns to Port Hercule

As reviewed in Yacht Style Issue 66, the 115m Ahpo by Germany’s Lürssen is the biggest vessel at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show from September 28-October 1, as the superyacht spectacle continues its three-year development programme ‘to promote superyachting among a new generation of clients’.

With no event in 2020, the 30th edition was held last year against the backdrop of slowly-easing restrictions for international travel, with the first post-pandemic edition attracting 19,000 visitors and 101 yachts to Port Hercule. It was a well-received return for the show, although figures were down on the 31,000 visitors and 125 yachts of 2019, then described as the biggest edition since the show started in 1991.

This year, organisers expect over 450 exhibitors and around 115 superyachts including about 40 new models. The show is again preceded by the Monaco Yacht Summit at Yacht Club de Monaco, where show visitors with a yacht project (purchase, charter or construction) receive advice and insights from industry experts including designers, brokers, builders and financial advisors.

The first day of the show is invitation-only, with private clients holding ‘Discover’ passes and their parties (‘Advise’ passes) granted access to the Dockside Area while other areas are open to all passes. From the Thursday to the Saturday, the Dockside Area is open to all visitors.

ADVENTURE AREA, SUSTAINABILITY HUB

This year, organisers have introduced an Adventure Area and a Sustainability Hub. Dedicated to adventure, exploration and leisure activities on board a superyacht, the Adventure Area spans two sites at Port Hercule.

Adventure Area

Quai Antoine 1er on the south side of Port Hercule includes an Adventure Area linked to the former Car Deck and Tenders & Toys exhibitions, bringing luxury cars and motorbikes, yacht tenders and water toys together in one location. The other Adventure Area features about 20 tenders moored at Quai Jarlan, as in previous editions.

The Sustainability Hub is for companies specialising in technology aimed at reducing superyachts’ environmental footprint and covers 200sqm in Darse Sud, the southern tent dedicated to equipment, technology and yachting services.

Other changes this year include an upgrade of the Dockside Area, the relocation of the Sailing Yacht Area to the protected inner side of Quai l’Hirondelle, and a doubling of the size of the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub, which includes a new 100sqm conference area at Virage Louis Chiron. The three themed areas were introduced last year as part of the organisers’ three-year revamp.

This year’s Southampton International Boat Show featured 83,000 visitors over nine days, after the Monday of the scheduled 10-day event was closed as a mark of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The UK observed a national mourning period of 10 days and the Queen lay in state in Westminster Hall for six days, with the period overlapping the first few days of the Southampton show.

“Despite the sad circumstances of recent weeks, we are delighted to have welcomed so many people to the show. It’s apparent that there continues to be is a real appetite for all things marine and people looking to find different ways to get out on the water,” said Lesley Robinson, CEO of British Marine, the show organiser.

Set in Europe’s largest purpose-built show marina, this year’s edition featured a record number of exhibitors, boats and debuts. A total of 685 individual stands and berths covered the show’s 70,000sqm-plus footprint, with over 650 craft on display including 300 in the marina. The show hosted 167 UK and world debuts, while also welcoming 126 new companies.

“There has been a fabulous atmosphere at this year’s show and the feedback we’ve received from exhibitors from across the industry has been exceptional, with many indicating very strong sales,” Robinson said.

“The show has put a real smile on everyone’s face with a fantastic mix of products, talks, entertainment and refreshments, plus our stunning new VIP experience. We’ve welcomed everyone from boating newbies to seasoned sailors and watersports enthusiasts. The wide choice of sailing yachts, motorboats, accessories, paddle boards, kayaks and services has been incredibly well received.”

The new Quayside Club VIP experience was a new addition and proved a hot ticket for many visitors, with the exclusive waterfront lounge offering some of the best seats in the venue and delivering five-star hospitality.

“We have been delighted with how well the new VIP experience has been received at the show,” Robinson said. “The food, atmosphere and hosting staff has been exceptional, and we hope that in future years even more visitors will take advantage of it and add a real touch of luxury to their visit.”

British builders were again the dominant exhibitors, with Sunseeker, Princess and Fairline fielding impressive line-ups at Mayflower Park, having all participated at the Cannes Yachting Festival earlier in the month.

Sunseeker’s large display featured the UK debut of the Predator 65, which had its world premiere in March at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in the US. The nine-yacht line-up also included the 65 Sport Yacht, Manhattan 55 and Manhattan 68, while the Poole builder’s largest models on show were a Predator 74, Predator 74 XPS, 76 Yacht, 88 Yacht and 95 Yacht.

The Sunseeker family thrive when they are together as a team. Nowhere is this demonstrated more than at boat shows when we get to spend time with our valued clients,” Sunseeker stated.

“Our head-turning displays at both Southampton and Cannes have seen us achieve great success across the range. There’s great confidence in the industry and Sunseeker’s phenomenal range coupled with a strong product plan for the future is once again seeing us lead the way.”

Princess’s seven yachts in the water were headlined by the global debut of the F65 and the world premieres of the F55 and F50, all from the F Class series of flybridge yachts. The Plymouth builder’s other models include the V50 Deck (show debut) and V55 sports yachts, S66 sportbridge and the Y72 (show debut) from the larger Y Class flybridge motor yachts.

“We were thrilled to be back in force at the Southampton International Boat Show,” Princess stated. “This year’s show was back to normal, so it was fantastic to see visitors enjoying everything that makes this particular show so special.”

Fairline staged the Southampton debut of its newly upgraded flagship Squadron 68, soon after the model’s official world premiere at Cannes. The builder’s line-up at the show also included the F//Line 33, Targa 45 Open and GT models, Targa 50 Open and Squadron 50.

It’s great to see the show back to its pre-pandemic levels with large visitor numbers,”Sales for new and used boats both in the UK and Med are strong and we are very happy. Southampton is a really well run show and we’ve been very lucky with the weather. It’s a shame it’s all over so soon and we can’t wait for next year.”

As well as craft of all shapes and sizes from paddleboards and kayaks to superyachts, plus an array of products and services from engines and life rafts to clothing and rigging, the show again placed a real emphasis on giving people the opportunity to get out on the water.

Through the Get Afloat, Try-A-Boat and Try-A-Boat+ experiences, the show hosted over 14,000 visitors on the water, trying everything from dinghy sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking to RIB rides, yacht cruising and motorboating. Visitors were also able to get out aboard fascinating and historic craft like the 48m Morgenster tall ship, F8 landing craft, motor gun boat 81 and the High-Speed Launch (HSL) 102.

Robinson said: “I would like to offer my thanks to Rockley Waterports, Flexisail and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard for making the on-the-water experiences such a huge success.”

The 2023 Southampton International Boat Show will be held from September 15-24, overlapping both next year’s Cannes Yachting Festival (September 12-17) in France and the Genoa International Boat Show (September 21-26).

Sunreef’s new Supreme 70 Eco

Sunreef Yachts, which recently appointed Hong Seh Marine as its dealer in Singapore (click to read article), has unveiled the first CGIs of the Supreme 70 Eco, the newest addition to its green line of solar-electric craft. The yacht’s dynamic, futuristic hull design includes vertical bows and forward-raked windscreen.

The model includes the same green tech as featured on other Eco models including large flat surfaces covered in the shipyard’s patented composite-integrated solar panels, delivering up to 30kWp. The solar power is used both for the appliances on board and the electric propulsion.

The garage is a standout feature

One of the yacht’s standout features is an aft garage able to accommodate a tender, personal watercraft, diving gear and water toys. With the garage door open, the Supreme 70 Eco offers an 11.4m-wide private beach.

Even compared to similar-length Sunreef models, the Supreme 70 Eco stands out with impressive amounts of living space on board. Her main deck features a generous full-height panoramic glazing, while layout options include a master suite on the main deck.
