Monaco Yacht Show 2024 saw the launch of GX Superyachts, a groundbreaking range of 24-56m aluminium yachts marrying opulence with environmental responsibility. The first 42m model, GX42, is under construction.

Greenline Yachts has unveiled stunning superyachts that range from 24-56m in length overall. The vessels incorporate hybrid technology and solar panels, significantly reducing CO2 emissions by 60 per cent. The innovative designs, featuring either Coupé or RPH flybridge styles, are the work of renowned designer Marco Casali.

Greenline Yachts, known for their expertise in hybrid technology, is the driving force behind this new brand of eco-friendly superyachts.

The RPH version offers a large flybridge and 353 gross tonnes of volume

Born from Greenline Yachts’ 15-year expertise in efficient hybrid vessels, GX Superyachts applies this know-how to the superyacht sector by creating a line-up of custom yachts offering alluring design and supreme comfort, championing responsible yachting.

The shipyard’s owner Vladimir Zinchenko said, “With more than 1,000 yachts delivered globally, Greenline has been at the forefront of innovation in the boating industry. Throughout that time, we have tried to further our vision of responsible yachting – from sourcing raw materials right through to the operation of the yacht itself.”

The brand has also worked with seasoned naval architect Andrea Armas as a board consultant. With 28 years of experience in yacht building supervision, Armas stated, “I’m backing GX Superyachts for their ambition and vision. My goal is to help translate their hybrid boat-building expertise into the superyacht sector.”

The GX Superyachts concept was born at the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show, inspired by Greenline’s all-electric 9.99m yacht that caught Prince Albert II’s eye. This spark has now materialised with the launch of GX Superyachts.

“Each yacht in our GX Superyacht range is equipped with our innovative hybrid propulsion system, allowing for both efficient electric cruising and powerful diesel performance when needed,” explained Chief Commercial Officer, Luca Raumland. “At 6 knots in electric mode, these yachts can achieve an incredible range of up to 100 nautical miles. In diesel mode, they can cross the Atlantic at 12 knots, while the max range is 11,571nm at 6kts.”

The GX range boasts 60 per cent lower carbon emissions than conventional yachts. Extensive solar arrays and large lithium battery banks allow for 48 hours of silent anchoring with full hotel systems running.

The Coupé has a long, curved superstructure roofed with gleaming solar panels

The first GX42 is already under construction, with the keel-laying ceremony having taken place on June 1, 2024 and delivery slated for summer 2026. After careful consideration, GX partnered with SES Yachts of Tuzla, Turkey, for the aluminium build.

This eco-conscious luxury concept, proven successful by Greenline Yachts, is now set to make waves in the superyacht sector.

The GX Superyachts project is launching at a pivotal moment, coinciding with the company’s 50th anniversary, according to Elif Yıldırım Kapucu, Managing Partner of SES. The Turkish yard’s expertise in custom and semi-custom builds aligns perfectly with the new range, underpinned by shared values of family ownership and sustainability.

The GX Superyachts range boasts an impressive line-up of design talent. Marco Casali’s sleek exterior lines marry efficiency with generous interior volumes. Two variants are available: a Coupé with a solar-panelled sliding roof revealing a hidden sundeck, and an RPH version offering a modern flybridge and 353 gross tonnes of volume. Both feature expansive beach clubs with fold-down wings.

Casali’s interior design creates a seamless flow between outdoor and indoor spaces, utilising high-end brands like Antonio Lupi, Dornbracht, Poltrona Frau, and Rugiano.

“We’ve reinterpreted Greenline’s timeless aesthetics for the superyacht market, focusing on harmony between exterior and interior,” Casali explained.

On the technical front, Francesco Rogantin of Names studio has optimised the hull design for stability and efficiency, contributing to its impressive range, even at cruising speeds.

“GX Superyachts sought a hyper-efficient, stable displacement hull,” said Rogantin. “We analysed various scenarios to optimise performance, utilising advanced tools.

The first GX42 is slated for summer 2026 delivery.

The 38m Grande Trideck, Azimut’s flagship, takes centre stage. Designed by Alberto Mancini and Achille Salvagni, it boasts innovative spaces like the Sea View Terrace and Private Patio, perfect for modern owners seeking connection with their surroundings.

The Grande 36M, also on display, embodies the Grande line’s DNA with cutting-edge design. Its semi-walkaround upper deck and opening skylounge windows offer an immersive cruising experience. Once again, Achille Salvagni crafted the interiors, while Alberto Mancini penned the exterior lines.

Both the Grande Trideck and 36M are part of the Azimut Low Emission Yachts range, with their Displacement-to-Planing (D2P) hulls and carbon fibre construction, considerably reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 30 per cent.

Vincenzo De Cotiis’ interiors feature a 270-degree panoramic view on the main deck, a first for this yacht size.

Adding an extra level of personalised service, Azimut has opened its Grande Boutique at Monaco’s Fairmont Hotel, ensuring owners of models from its 26-44m Grande Series of yachts receive dedicated support at every stage, from purchase to after-sales service.

Azimut’s boats will be on display at stand QE7 (Quai des États-Unis) during the Monaco Yacht Show until September 28, 2024.

The wallywind110, which first launched in June, boasts a sleek, modern exterior designed by reputed German racing sailing-boat designer studio judel/vrolijk & co. The semi-custom sail model boasts an all-carbon hull with a striking metallic blue paint and is complemented by a 6.95m telescopic keel, carbon fibre twin rudders, and 48m Hall Spars rig.

The 33.42m wallywind110’d deck also impresses with an 80 sqm cockpit that’s free of technical equipment – made to rival 60m sailing superyachts. Another feature is a unique overall deck layout, developed by Wally’s internal design team in collaboration with Italian Santa Maria Magnolfi yacht design studio. Below deck, more clever space planning allows for an open, light-filled interior.

The project, initiated in 2022, is a real milestone, being the first sailing boat launch since Wally became a member of Italy’s Ferretti Group family. Already, the second wallywind110 was already under construction when the first hull was readied for show in Monaco and the range will also grow to feature the wallywind130 and wallywind150.

“The launch of this first semi-custom sail model since Wally became part of Ferretti Group in 2019 is a very significant moment for us,” said Stefano de Vivo, Wally Managing Director.

“Not only does it coincide with the brand’s 30th anniversary, but it also once again confirms how relevant the sailing superyacht sector is for Wally.”

Of the eight-yacht display at Vieux Port during the Cannes Yachting Festival last week two new S-Class models drew attention. Yacht Style enjoyed the chance to board the very special, in-demand Princess S80, currently estimated to debut in Asia in the last quarter of 2025.

A maximum speed of 30-34 knots makes the most of the S80’s MAN V12 1,900 or 2,000hp twin engines

Princess Yachts, the UK’s largest luxury yacht manufacturer, showcased two world premieres at Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 this September – the first showing of the all-new Princess S80 and S65 sports yachts.

The S80, completing the Princess 80ft trilogy, follows the award-winning X80 and Y80 models, and is based on the same hull form. The S80 becomes the new flagship of the S-Class sport-yacht range which is known for a successful blend of sportiness and luxury, epitomising the brand’s commitment to performance and style, while bringing plenty of speed, fun, and excitement to the model.

At Cannes, Yacht Style loved the elegant strong dynamic exterior lines, sleek profile and spacious deck and indoor areas across its 83ft-plus length and maximum beam that is just shy of 20ft.

While the S80 shares the same hull and lower accommodation layout as her 80ft siblings, that is where similarities end. Her exterior styling and furnishings are more akin to the S72, but it is the main deck that makes the S80 a completely different proposition.

The saloon, cockpit and transom area have been designed to maximise outdoor space and on-water enjoyment, with a garage to the port side capable of holding a 4.35m tender.

A cockpit teak dining table that seats six to eight is positioned next to the saloon’s galley and bar counter, which connect or can be separated with sliding doors and a large opening window above the galley bar.

The Monaco Yacht Show 2024 celebrates the industry’s brightest superstars and biggest super yachts in the world’s most spectacular port of call, next week. Here, we share an update on some of the most exciting exhibits.

Sanlorenzo 50Steel

This year’s 33rd edition of the Monaco Yacht Show at ritzy Monte Carlo, for four days from September 25, will assemble over 560 yachting-sector companies at Port Hercule, and over 120 yachts from around the world including many of the best-known names – and largest models – in the industry, with world premieres and international debuts aplenty.

One of these is from Sanlorenzo, which will showcase its recently-launched 50Steel. The striking 49.99m long superyacht is the first to accommodate a modular Reformer-Fuel Cell system, developed in collaboration with Siemens Energy. This is capable of transforming green methanol into hydrogen and then into electrical energy to power the yacht’s hotel systems, allowing generation up to a maximum of 100kW, with propulsion engines and diesel generators switched off. The carbon-neutral system greatly increases time spent at anchor without diesel fuel consumption, covering about 90 per cent of the typical usage time of a superyacht with no emissions.

Alongside this feat of craftsmanship will be Sanlorenzo sister brand’s Bluegame BGM75. It’s the first multihull in the Bluegame portfolio and features an ultra-efficient hull derived from America’s Cup technology and is designed by Philippe Briand, a world-renowned expert in performance hulls.

Another alluring prospect will be superyacht charter Kismet, from Germany’s Lürssen shipyard, who makes her global debut. Kismet, with exterior design by Nuvolari Lenard, boasts six decks, including a two-deck master cabin, is one of the most expensive charter yachts on the market.

Veteran yacht-builder, Italy’s Benetti, returns to the show this year with two 67m custom yachts, including M/Y Kasper 7, making a world debut, and designed as an elegant, beach house with five cabins, which will be joined by M/Y Calex, and from the B.Now 50M family, M/Y Asani, also being exhibited for the first time at a boat show.

Ferretti Group’s Custom Line announced the world debut of its new all-aluminium 49.9m flagship M/YAsante at the show. Floor-to-ceiling windows are used across the yacht to create the idea of a floating island on sea, a feeling complemented by a beach club located at the water’s edge and a private lounge sprawled across the main deck.

Wally, also in the Ferretti Group brand list, will premiere its all-carbon hull, the 33.42m wallywind110 hybrid, Galma.

Damen Yachting has announced it will bring its complete portfolio to show. Its own Pink Shadow, from the Xplorer 58 range, is making its international debut, showing off an award-winning design and world-class expedition capabilities. Damen will also bring its recently delivered Five Oceans from its Yacht Support chase-boat range – and the first YS 53 to be presented – as well as its Yacht Support 5009 Shadow.

From Amels, the renowned Dutch super- and megayacht brand also owned by Damen Yachting, comes the 60m Limited Editions-range Amels 200 called Moonstone, with naval architect Tim Heywood’s iconic design, and another stunning 60m yacht, the Espen Øino-designed hybrid propulsion, Amels 60.

British boat builder Sunseeker will bring a luxury line-up of three of its largest yacht-range models, 95 Yacht, Ocean 90, and Yacht 88. The 88 perfectly captures Sunseeker’s new design direction with a vast flybridge and convertible X-TEND™ transom seating system.

And while yachts may be the show’s most obvious – and beguiling – headline acts, MYS offers a full-range of supporting entertainments and events across the show. Overlooking Port Hercule, the chic Upper Deck Lounge is earmarked as the social epicentre of the show, while hubs, like the Sustainability Hub and the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub, further industry discussion and developments.

By day, an Adventure Area, home to a selection of new and exciting equipment, speedy tenders, tantalising toys and fast cars invites adrenaline-fuelled action, while by night, glamorous soirees and cocktail parties are held within view of the spectacular yachts lining Port Hercule.

The Monaco Yacht Show 2024 will be held from September 25-28 2024.
