The Hong Kong-based client has also entrusted Asia Yachting with management of the new build, which is the French brand’s flagship monohull motoryacht. “Asia Yachting operates a very good form of yacht management,” the owner said.

In Portugal, Doug DeVos’ American Magic Quantum Racing claimed its eighth world championship title.

The Rolex TP52 World Championship 2025 delivered a gripping demonstration of the purest monohull racing on the planet. Tested by powerful Atlantic swells and varied winds in Cascais off the Portuguese coast, the world’s finest sailors pushed their skills and resilience to the limit in a contest where precision, teamwork and innovation converge.

After five days of intense, high-stakes racing, Doug DeVos’ American Magic Quantum Racing from the US emerged victorious, claiming its eighth world championship title, on this occasion by a single point from the impressively combative French crew on Paprec who kept the result in doubt until the finish of the last race.

Rolex has been title sponsor of the Rolex TP52 World Championship since 2017 and is also official timepiece of the 52 Super Series, honouring those who pursue excellence on one of yachting’s most demanding stages. Winning the championship is one of the most coveted achievements in grand prix sailing – a true test of consistency and mastery within an exceptional fleet.

Every manoeuvre is executed under the highest pressure, where even the smallest error can decide the overall outcome. The 2025 edition showcased the exceptional depth of talent within the fleet. Seven races had a different winner, underscoring the competitiveness of the 10-race series.

American Magic is a worthy winner. Active in introducing young, and diverse talent to elite-level competition, the team has been a watchword for dependability over recent years. Tactician Terry Hutchinson praised his team’s focus and determination across a rigorous series.

“I could not be prouder of the entire group. We were challenged all the way through this year’s Rolex TP52 World Championship,” Hutchinson said. “Every time we did something right, something seemed to go against us. I cannot say enough about the mental strength the team showed. They just kept pushing, no matter what.”

Carrying a two-point margin into the final race, American Magic had to dig deep to hold off Jean-Luc Petithuguenin’s Paprec. In the end, despite finishing ahead, the French crew could not get the required number of boats between it and the Americans.

Hutchinson highlighted the contribution made by his younger crewmates including Harry Melges IV, the youngest helmsman to win the title, main trimmer Lucas Calabrese, and Sarah Stone, the first female navigator to win a Rolex TP52 World Championship.

“Winning is never easy,” he said. “We’re building something for the younger sailors onboard, and that makes today even more meaningful. Nothing replaces the feeling of success. It would have been so easy to lose focus on that final run, but we stayed committed. Harry did a great job, Lucas was outstanding, and Sarah made history.”

At the heart of the Rolex TP52 World Championship lies the unique blend of passionate Corinthian ownership and elite professional skill. The teams representing a true coming together of dedicated owners and world-class crew. This intense collaboration, underpinned by a relentless attention to detail and a shared commitment to perfection, defines the elite-level regatta’s enduring allure.

Tom Slingsby, a Rolex Testimonee and three-time Rolex World Sailor of the Year, has twice competed in the event, and highlights the reasons for its standing and appeal.

“I look at the Rolex TP52 World Championship as probably the best, purest monohull racing you can do,” Slingsby said. “The event really is competition at the highest level between the highly competitive owners, the best tacticians, the best strategists, the best trimmers, the best bowmen.”

Rolex TP52 World Championship, Doug DeVos, American Magic Quantum Racing, Terry Hutchinson, Jean-Luc Petithuguenin, Paprec, Harry Melges IV, Lucas Calabrese, Sarah Stone

Australian sailor Kyle Langford, who won three SailGP championships alongside Tom Slingsby, brought his high-speed foiling experience to the Rolex TP52 World Championship this year, racing aboard Phoenix. Reflecting on the contrast between the two highest-level circuits, he highlighted the authenticity and finesse required in this class.

“The Rolex TP52 World Championship is a pure sailor’s regatta. It is an authentic sailing experience. This is the highest level you can reach in monohull racing worldwide, and ranks among the top achievements in the sport,” Langford said.

“Racing at this level is all about finesse and small details. If you are a couple of metres faster, you are leading; if you are a couple of metres too slow, you are at the back. The margins are incredibly fine, and that’s what makes it so special.”

Rolex TP52 World Championship, Doug DeVos, American Magic Quantum Racing, Terry Hutchinson, Jean-Luc Petithuguenin, Paprec, Harry Melges IV, Lucas Calabrese, Sarah Stone

Agustín Zulueta, CEO of the 52 Super Series, enthusiastically reflected on the standards set by the fleet and the benefit of the enduring partnership with Rolex.

“That the Rolex TP52 World Championship is regarded the pinnacle of monohull grand prix racing is down to the common goal among all stakeholders to be the very best,” Zulueta said.

“The level of commitment from the teams this week has been extraordinary, and the race management has dealt brilliantly with a variety of conditions to deliver a complete series. Our continued collaboration with Rolex remains fundamental to elevating all involved to greater heights.”

Rolex TP52 World Championship, Doug DeVos, American Magic Quantum Racing, Terry Hutchinson, Jean-Luc Petithuguenin, Paprec, Harry Melges IV, Lucas Calabrese, Sarah Stone

The 2025 Rolex TP52 World Championship in Cascais will be remembered as a week defined by precision execution and unparalleled teamwork. American Magic’s historic victory stands as a testament to meticulous preparation, strategic brilliance and superb leadership.

With a new and valuable chapter added to the event’s rich legacy, the championship has confirmed its standing as one of the most demanding tests in sailing.

The Marche Yachting and Cruising Association recently hosted over 20 global media including Yacht Style for the 2025 edition of ‘Il Bello e Ben Fatto – Made in Marche’. Translating as ‘The Beautiful and Well Crafted’, the event promotes the yacht building industry in the Marche region, which is located on Italy’s Adriatic coast and includes Ancona, Mondolfo and Fano among its boatbuilding hubs.

Across two days of presentations, meetings and shipyard visits between Fano and Ancona, the event focused on the region’s yacht-building heritage and entrepreneurial excellence “with the aim of enhancing a sector that brings together craftsmanship, design, innovation and high-end tourism”, organisers stated.

On the first day, the Sala della Concordia at the Fano City Hall hosted a roundtable discussion among institutions, entrepreneurs and representatives of local shipyards, including Adria Sail, Cantiere Rossini, Italia Yachts, Nerea Yachts, Pershing, Silent Yachts and Wider. Key themes of the debate included the future of ports and infrastructure, the need for productive spaces, dredging, luxury nautical tourism, and education and training.

Among the participants were Luca Serfilippi, Mayor of Fano; Stefano Aguzzi, Regional Councillor for Labour; Vincenzo Garofalo, President of the Port Authority; Marco D’Orazio, UnivPM Pro-Rector; and Donatella D’Amico, Regional School Office Director. Each emphasised the importance of a joint commitment to sustainable, synergic development, starting with the younger generations.

On the second day, a talk show was held at the brand-new Fano Marine Center and hosted by Manuela Moreno, a RAI (Radiotelevisione Italiana) journalist and television presenter. The event featured some of the most influential figures in Marche and Italian entrepreneurship, who shared insights on strategic vision, regional identity and the future of their industries.

Tilli Antonelli, the innovative mind behind Pershing, based in Mondolfo, recalled his early days in regattas with Raul Gardini and the Moro di Venezia, and later his first boatyard venture with two friends. He stressed the need for bold, creative thinking to shape the future of yachting in Marche.

Federica Cantori of Cantori Spa praised the richness of local craftsmanship, powered by “golden hands and hearts of 20-year-olds”, while warning that these skills risk being lost if not passed on. Francesco Casoli of Elica highlighted the importance of building strong entrepreneurial ecosystems based on collaboration, listening and humility.

Michele Bernetti of Umani Ronchi urged local entrepreneurs to overcome parochialism, broaden their horizons, and raise the perceived value of their products.

Gian Luca Gregori, Rector of the Marche Polytechnic University, presented the ‘Marche model’ as a successful example of synergy between institutions, academia and business, noting progress made in educational offerings and international attractiveness.

Marina Santucci, Director of Agenzia Turismo ed Internazionale Marche (ATIM) – the
Marche Agency for Tourism and Internationalisation – reiterated the importance of ongoing promotion and building a network of authentic ambassadors to tell the story of the region.

In addition to attending the forums, guests enjoyed tours of three Ancona shipyards – Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard, Cantiere delle Marche and Palumbo Superyachts – where they had the chance to see yachts under construction, in delivery or already launched.

At the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard, the event opened with remarks from Giovanni Zinni, Ancona’s Deputy Mayor; Andrea Maria Antonini, Regional Councillor for Economic Development; and Stefania Bussoletti, Regional Economic Development Department Director. Each emphasised how yachting can drive regional growth through the integration of craftsmanship, innovation and quality tourism.

“It was a valuable opportunity to show the world the strength of Marche’s manufacturing sector and its ability to foster strong public-private partnerships,” organisers stated.

“Il Bello e Ben Fatto – Made in Marche proved that Marche has all the right ingredients to become a key player in the international yachting scene. It has the infrastructure to develop, skills to enhance, a dynamic and united entrepreneurial network, and a strong identity that still needs to be fully told.”

Conceived and promoted by the Marche Yachting and Cruising Association, the event was supported by ATIM (Agenzia Turismo ed Internazionale Marche), Municipality of Fano and Central Adriatic Port Authority, under the patronage of RAI.

Monaco Yacht Show 2025 exhibitors revealed

Organisers of the Monaco Yacht Show have revealed the exhibitor list for the 34th edition of the world’s leading superyacht spectacle.

The list of exhibitors for this year’s Monaco Yacht Show (September 24-27) has been made available on the official website, with the list continuing to be updated ahead of the show. Organisers say the list “already provides a representative snapshot of the industry’s elite including shipyards, designers, equipment manufacturers, tech companies, luxury brands and bespoke service providers”.

Exhibitors can be searched on the website by company name or by ‘activity’, with the categories comprising equipment, shipyard, yacht broker and charter, service, refit shipyard, luxury products and services, tenders, naval architecture and yacht design, toys, media, and technological provider.

The Monaco Yacht Show is a key annual event for private clients and the wider yachting community, and the list has been publicised to enable visitors to plan their schedule by arranging meetings and boat tours.

Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show since 2010 and part of the organising body since 1999, said: “The Monaco Yacht Show remains the ultimate setting to move a project forward or make it a reality, within an exclusive, structured and innovation-driven environment.

“With the exhibitor list, future owners and investors can identify the key players they’ll want to meet, whether they’re exploring custom builds, refits, acquisitions or charters.”

As of the start of July, the online exhibitor list already topped 400 companies, with organisers expecting the show to eventually feature between 500-600 companies.

“Port Hercule will once again become the global epicentre of superyachting, with the Monaco Yacht Show offering an unrivalled showcase to refine a project or fast-track a decision to purchase, charter or build a yacht,” organisers stated.

“For visitors – whether seasoned owners, prospective buyers, repeat clients, industry professionals or curious newcomers – the exhibitor list offers a first glimpse of the must-see brands, innovations and experts to meet on site.”

Recent editions of the event indicate that this year’s Monaco Yacht Show will feature about 120 superyachts – with organisers expecting nearly half to be 2025 premieres – and 60 luxury tenders.

This year, the four-day show will again reinforce its commitment to environmental responsibility. Initiatives include highlighting exhibitors certified by Blue Wake, a new programme developed with the Water Revolution Foundation that spotlights the most impactful eco-responsible solutions in the yachting industry.

In Port Hercule, the show’s thematic zones are designed to provide an immersive dive into the superyacht lifestyle and include the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub, designed to showcase bold, forward-thinking concepts from leading international designers.

The Adventure Area will feature more than 40 luxury vehicles alongside an exclusive selection of water toys and exploration gear to inspire future owners with a taste for adventure.

The Upper Deck Lounge – located at the entrance to the Parvis Piscine tent dedicated to luxury goods and services – provides a window into the refined lifestyle that surrounds the superyachting experience.

Across other exhibition pavilions, visitors can discover the latest advancements in onboard technology, cutting-edge equipment and bespoke services, presented by the industry’s leading experts.

The Monaco Yacht Show was first held in 1991 and is held in Port Hercule each September. Organised under the High Patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, the show is renowned for the exceptional quality and impressive size of its superyachts.

The event attracts private visitors interested in purchasing or chartering superyachts, as well as market experts. The show is also committed to promoting innovative and sustainable solutions for yachting.

Ferrari has announced it will be breaking into the world of high-tech sailing with its new Hypersail. Designed by French naval architect Guillaume Verdier and set to splash in 2026, the Hypersail is a 30m carbon-fibre and titanium monohull with a 20m beam.

The ocean-racing, foiling prototype is designed to ‘fly’ on three contact points, with one foil linked to a canting keel while the others are supported by a rudder and two lateral foils.

John Elkann, Ferrari’s Chairman, said: “We are bringing into existence a unique boat that will fly across the oceans, representing a real opportunity for innovation in both the nautical and automotive worlds.

“Hypersail is a new challenge that pushes us to go beyond our boundaries and expand our technological horizons. At the same time, it perfectly aligns with Ferrari’s tradition, drawing inspiration from our Hypercar. Designing a yacht for offshore racing is perhaps the ultimate expression of endurance.”

According to Ferrari, the yacht will be the “first-ever full-foiling boat capable of complete energy autonomy”. The vessel will be powered entirely by solar, wind and kinetic energy, with no combustion engine on board.

Giovanni Soldini, who has participated in two solo round-the-world races and completed over 40 transoceanic crossings in three decades of racing, is the Team Principal for Hypersail. Calling the project “an exciting challenge”, Soldini stated that “the meeting of different cultures and advanced technologies is enabling us to build a yacht that is revolutionary in many respects”.

The Italian added: “Our top priority is to strike the right balance between the pursuit of extreme performance and maximum reliability.”

Soldini is assisted by Team Leader Marco Guglielmo Ribigni, a mechanical engineer at Ferrari for almost 20 years, and Hypersail CTO Matteo Lanzavecchia, Ferrari’s Head of Sports Cars Vehicle Engineering and Deputy Chief R&D Officer.

Ferrari’s previous boating projects included collaborations with Castoldi in the 1950s to create the Arno XI hydroplane, and with Riva to produce the limited-edition Riva Ferrari 32 speedboats, first launched in 1990.

The 58’ Capri was among four new models unveiled during a nighttime parade at the Riva Private World Premiere, which was held at the Ferretti Group brand’s historic Sarnico shipyard on Lake Iseo in northern Italy. The Iseo Super (27ft), Aquariva Special (33ft) and Cento (38ft) rounded out the cast of new models, which were displayed on the water in front of the shipyard where they were built.

The special event featured an “immersive live music show” by Inspiration Music & Arts with artistic direction by Jimmy Bitton, fine food and wine by the Alajmo brothers, and a showcase of Land Rover models.

Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group’s CEO, said: “This night of incomparable beauty will live on in the history of the Sarnico shipyard. Four Riva [yachts] in one night is an absolute delight and the happiest of events for everyone who loves yachting and Italian excellence. I can’t wait for the boats to spark the same excitement in yacht enthusiasts that I felt with all our friends and guests.”

Riva described the 58’ Capri as the “sleek and sculpted first model of the brand’s new open sport yacht series”, with the open design featuring a streamline hardtop. The Iseo Super is an upgraded version of the brand’s entry model, with the 27ft runabout featuring many of the new technologies and style solutions evident on the El-Iseo, the brand’s first fully electric boat.

The Aquariva Special is an upgrade of the 33ft Aquariva, which has been in production for 24 years since its debut in 2001 and was a successor of the brand’s iconic Aquarama. The new model has been restyled by Officina Italiana Design, which has designed all Riva models for over three decades.

The limited-edition Riva Cento is based on the 38ft Rivamare and features an updated beach area and upgraded soft furnishings.

Jiang Kui said: “This magnificent day celebrates the huge success for Riva and Ferretti Group as a whole. We are very proud and congratulate the management and all employees on these achievements.

The Republic of Singapore Yacht Club’s annual Commodore’s Day celebration returns for its 2025 edition on July 5-6. The two-day event is family-friendly and designed to welcome new members of the club and committee to the iconic institution dating back to 1826.

“This year, the festivities promise to be bigger than ever, offering an exciting mix of eco-friendly competitions, high-energy water sports, interactive family activities and delicious halal-friendly food – all in a relaxed, carnival-like setting,” RSYC stated.

A major draw of this year’s Commodore’s Day will be the new “recycled regatta”. On July 5, attendees are invited to design their own eco-friendly boats from recycled and upcycled materials. The vessels will then be raced on July 6, with a S$2,000 cash prize for the winner.

Also on offer during the event are shopping opportunities with a lifestyle bazaar, food stalls serving local favourites and a display of marine equipment by brands such as Yamaha and La Marca Marine. Those looking to take part in high-octane activities can view and rent water toys like the Seabob F5S and SipaBoards, or enjoy 15-minute jet-ski and RHIB rides.

For families, there will be carnival-inspired activities designed to entertain young children, as well as underwater scooters or inflatable obstacle courses on offer in the pool. From 5pm, the foreshore area will transform with a pool party and Beer Pong tournament accompanied by live DJ performances.

The year’s Commodore’s Day will also be an opportunity to showcase the club’s upgraded RSYC facilities following a major renovation in 2024. The nine-month project was “driven by the need to accommodate the rising demand for recreational pleasure craft berths while also considering the increasing presence of visiting superyachts in the region,” explained Khoo Peck Khoon, RSYC’s General Manager.

The renovation included an 85m seawall extension and the installation of a significant number of new pontoons. The RSYC marina facilities now have a total of 206 dry berths and 140 wet berths, including 18 for superyachts measuring up to 91m. According to Khoon, “this new layout provides us with the flexibility needed to meet market demands effectively”.

Access to the RSYC facilities for the Commodore’s Day will be provided by complimentary shuttle bus services, available for all guests travelling from Clementi MRT station.

AI and autonomous boats are the focus of the 12th edition of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (July 1-5, 2025), an event organisers describe as “a catalyst for sustainable yachting”.

The five-day event at Yacht Club de Monaco features a series of races and rallies to showcase innovative, sustainable vessels developed by students specifically to race on the occasion. The team that develops a project with the most effective technologies for energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction wins €25,000.

This year’s edition includes four categories, with the new AI Class (autonomous boats) added to the Energy Class (new technologies on standardised hulls), SeaLab Class (floating laboratories) and Open Sea Class, for CE-certified, zero-emission prototypes up to 25m with room on board for at least three people.

This year’s event is expected to feature up to 24 teams and over 1,000 students from 29 different universities. Of all the teams competing, 30 boats will be powered by electricity, 12 will operate on hydrogen and 12 prototypes will be on foils.

Other event highlights include conferences on yachting technologies and alternative fuels, as well as tours of the Energy Observer catamaran. Launched in 2017 and having already cruised 68,000nm, Energy Observer is considered the first self-sufficient yacht fuelled by a mix of solar, wind, hydro and hydrogen power.

As well as being hosted by Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM), the event is supported by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Swiss bank UBS, German car manufacturer BMW and Dutch deep-sea infrastructure expert SBM Offshore.

Two major shipyards are also involved, with Sanlorenzo collaborating with teams from the universities of Bologna and Genova, while Azimut|Benetti Group supports the team from Politecnico di Torino.

Massimo Perotti, Sanlorenzo’s Executive Chairman and CEO, said: “We absolutely must empower future generations through education, and encourage them to think outside the box to find innovative solutions for leisure boats that reduce our impact on the environment. By investing in students, we are paving the way to a better future.”

Bernard d’Alessandri, YCM’s General Secretary, added: “We are delighted to see the growing involvement of major shipyards. This collaboration is essential to the transition to more responsible yachting.”

The new 46 Yacht flybridge powercat will have its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

Aquila Power Catamarans is scheduled to stage the world premiere of its 46 Yacht at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival (September 9-14), followed by its US premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (October 29-November 2).

The flybridge power catamaran is billed as a little sister to Aquila’s 50 Yacht, which debuted at last year’s Fort Lauderdale show. The 46 Yacht features a similar explorer-style aesthetic but in a smaller package, with an overall length of 47ft 2in and a beam of 23ft 3in.

Jean Raas, Chief Product Officer and CEO of Aquila USA, commented: “The Aquila 46 Yacht represents our commitment to bringing larger yacht innovation to a more accessible platform.

“This yacht delivers the spaciousness, capability and luxury our customers expect from Aquila, while maintaining the intimate scale that makes it perfect for couples or smaller groups seeking premium experiences on the water.”

The 46 Yacht has been designed for long-range cruising and has CE Category A ocean certification. In the standard configuration, the yacht will be powered by twin 320hp Volvo Penta D4 engines.

A generous beam helps allow for up to 24 guests to be hosted on board when at anchor, while varying cabin configurations – including a full-beam master suite forward – can accommodate up to 10 guests overnight.

Interior spaces have been designed in an open-plan style, with a saloon and galley flooded by light due to panoramic windows. Owners can also opt for an added interior helm, in addition to the flybridge station.

A sliding door creates a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, with further alfresco entertaining areas in the aft cockpit and up on the shaded flybridge, where additional features include a wet bar and sunpads.

Advanced options include the Aquila Hydro Glide Foil System for enhanced efficiency and a greater cruising range, fully-integrated and standard-issue C-Zone digital switching, and a lithium battery system to enhance sustainability.

Alain Raas, Aquila’s Global Brand Director, stated: “The 46 Yacht perfectly captures what makes Aquila special – meticulous attention to the details that matter most to boaters. From the expansive beam that creates remarkable interior volume to the flexible cabin configurations that adapt to different cruising styles, every element has been designed to enhance the owner’s experience.”

Aquila’s dealers in Asia include Marine Italia in Hong Kong and Singapore, Primus Marine in Thailand, Europa Yachts in the Philippines and Indonesia, and Tam Son Yachting in Vietnam.
