Poland’s Sunreef has appointed 2016 Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg as a Brand Ambassador for its Eco range of luxury catamarans.

Nico Rosberg signed an agreement to become a Brand Ambassador for Sunreef Yachts, having recently appeared in the Polish builder’s virtual press conference announcing an Eco range of solar-powered luxury catamarans, in both sailing and power versions.Nico Rosberg has become a Sunreef Yachts Brand AmbassadorNico Rosberg has become a Sunreef Yachts Brand Ambassador

Son of 1982 Formula 1 world champion Keke Rosberg, Nico Rosberg spent a decade racing in F1 before the German-Finnish star retired days after winning the 2016 Drivers’ Championship at the age of 31.

Rosberg, 34, has since become a sustainability and e-mobility entrepreneur, investing in the all-electric racing series Formula E and creating the Greentech Festival in Berlin, and is now proud to promote Sunreef’s new Eco catamarans.Sunreef Yachts is developing a new Eco range of catamarans; Nico Rosberg is a brand ambassadorSunreef Yachts is developing a new Eco range of catamarans

“It is great to see that the world’s most outstanding manufacturer of luxury catamarans shares my commitment to sustainable technological innovation and I am immensely proud to drive this development forward with Sunreef Yachts,” said Rosberg, who has homes in Spain and his birthplace of Monaco.

“Luxury and sustainability don’t exclude each other. Quite on the contrary. It is through the introduction of green technology and sustainable materials in the luxury sector that we create a halo effect on the entire industry and manage to meet the future demands of even the most sophisticated customers.”Sunreef has already produced eco-friendly sailing catamaransSunreef produces semi-custom luxury catamarans in Poland

The agreement was signed by both parties, with Sunreef represented by President Francis Lapp, the Frenchman who founded the company in 2002.

Starting with the new Magellano 25 Metri, Azimut is fitting new yachts with a NASA-patented system to sanitise air in interior spaces.

Scheduled to make its show debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, Azimut’s new Magellano 25 Metri is the Italian builder’s first yacht to feature a NASA-patented system to renew and sanitise air.At 83ft in length, the 25 Metri is the flagship of Azimut's Magellano rangeAt 83ft in length, the 25 Metri is the flagship of Azimut’s Magellano range

“Azimut Yachts has decided to introduce this technology in response to a growing need that reflects a new increasingly healthy and natural lifestyle,” the yard stated. “The quality of the air we breathe has an objective and material impact on the quality of our lives.”

Using technology originally developed for use on aerospace missions to sanitise the air on board, MMVS (Marine Mechanical Ventilation System) is a centralised system split across the two decks, ensuring a complete change of air every hour.Italian company BCool Engineering produces the Marine Mechanical Ventilation System being fitted to all of Azimut's new modelsItalian company BCool Engineering produces the Marine Mechanical Ventilation System being fitted to all of Azimut’s new models

MMVS is produced by Italian company BCool Engineering, which specialises in the production and marketing of onboard thermal comfort and power products. Azimut is the first shipyard to fit MMVS on board new yachts and will fit it on all of its upcoming models.

The system enables air inside the boat to remain at the selected temperature and be regularly purified by sanitisation of the air-conditioning ducts, surfaces and technical components like the fan coils.Milan-based Vincenzo De Cotiis designed the interiorMilan-based Vincenzo De Cotiis designed the interior

The Magellano 25 Metri is the new flagship of a range that includes 43, 53 and 66 models. With an exterior by Ken Freivokh and interior by De Cotiis Architects, the 82ft 9in motor yacht has a beam of 20ft 10in (6.35m) and four lower-deck guest cabins, plus two cabins for three crew.

Innovations include a cockpit with opposing sofas where guests can enjoy an infinity view aft when the retractable panel – which doubles as the garage door – drops down to create a swim platform. The cockpit has an infinity view aft when the garage door retractsThe cockpit has an infinity view aft when the garage door retracts

The yacht features carbon-fibre lamination on the flybridge, hardtop and garage, while at anchor, an innovative ‘hotel mode’ means all on board systems are sustained by lithium ion battery packs instead of generators.

Other features include a semi-displacement dual-mode hull with double chine. The upper chine provides a larger beam at low speed for stability, while at higher speed, the flow separates from a lower chine shaped for least resistance. The yacht is fitted with twin MAN V12s, each either 1,400mhp or 1,550mhp, and has a predicted top speed of 24-25 knots.

This Virtual Lounge features videos, technical data sheets and in-depth articles and was created specifically to maintain a bond with owners during restrictions on social interaction and travel due to Covid-19.

In the first month since its debut, the Virtual Lounge attracted over 11,000 visitors, with 50 per cent connecting from Europe, 35 per cent from the Americas and 15 per cent from the Middle and Far East. Virtual Lounge visitors spend on average more than four minutes in the area.

Azimut was happy with the traffic, comparing it to about 3,000 visitors to its booths at leading boat shows.

Visitors to the four-day e-boat show received real time assistance from the brand’s team of Sales Managers during Live Chat sessions, with one-to-one web meetings organised to help close sales.

Azimut was most excited by the “‘first 100% online sale” during the brand’s four-day e-boat show, during which several negotiations started before the S6 deal was confirmed.

Last year, the S6 featured in an installation in New York’s Times Square, where it was admired and photographed by over 700,000 visitors in little more than a week. The yacht features an extensive use of carbon-fibre and three Volvo Penta IPS700 propulsion units.

Azimut said the Virtual Lounge has such a success that it will keep it and continue adding new content.

It also said the e-boat show initiative proved not only to be a valid alternative until boat shows return in their traditional format but also an interesting tool for sales sessions addressed to specific markets and types of yacht.

Azimut offers models from 34-120ft within its Atlantis, Magellano Flybridge, S and Grande collections. It has a presence in 70 countries through a network of 128 sales and assistance centres, as well as direct representation and assistance branches in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Fort Lauderdale (USA) and Itajai (Brazil).

Royal Huisman will deliver the 266ft Sea Eagle II, the world’s largest aluminium sailing yacht, to Taiwanese owner Dr Samuel Yin in July.

The 81m Royal Huisman schooner Sea Eagle II is set for a July delivery to Dr Samuel Yin after the world’s largest aluminium sailing yacht concluded a successful series of sail trials in the North Sea.Sea Eagle II is Dr Yin's second Royal Huisman yacht; Photos: Tom Van OossanenSea Eagle II is Dr Yin’s second Royal Huisman yacht; Photos: Tom Van Oossanen

The three-masted Sea Eagle II is the second Royal Huisman build for Dr Yin, whose 43m sloop Sea Eagle was launched in 2015.

Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and Mark Whiteley, Sea Eagle II – Royal Huisman’s largest yacht so far – was on schedule for delivery in April, but Covid-19 restrictions in the Netherlands prevented sea trials from being completed. The 266ft Sea Eagle II is the world's largest aluminium sailing yachtThe 266ft Sea Eagle II is the world’s largest aluminium sailing yacht

Earlier this year, the 266-footer with a plumb bow was transferred from the shipyard’s headquarters in Vollenhove and launched in Amsterdam. Her three carbon Rondal masts and booms were installed and tuned at Royal Huisman’s Amsterdam facility.

Nearly all onboard systems, such as gensets, air-conditioning, waste-water treatment and electronics, were thoroughly tested in the year prior to launch to avoid any surprises during the commissioning stage.Sea Eagle II was designed by Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and Mark WhiteleySea Eagle II was designed by Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and Mark Whiteley

This spring, strict Covid-19 regulations and detailed protocols introduced eventually allowed the team to pick up where they left off. The sail handling and remaining propulsion systems were successfully tested and signed off during recent trials, which even during testing gave very promising insights into this yacht’s capabilities.

Spectacular speeds over 21 knots can be achieved by powering up Sea Eagle II’s Rondal rig, which can carry over 3,500sqm of sail area evenly distributed over her carbon Panamax masts.

The full sail area is controlled by 34 winches from sailing system integrator Rondal. The largest winches – for the yankee, staysail sheets and mizzen sheet runners – are capable of an 18-tonne pulling load.

Adamas-TISG Asia Superyacht Charters: Q&A with Traugott Kaminski

SHARE

Traugott Kaminski, CEO of Adamas-TISG Asia, explains why the new company has ordered three new superyachts from Italy for charter in Asia.

Can you start by giving an overview of the new superyacht charter company, Adamas-TISG Asia, and the parties involved.Traugott Kaminski, CEO of Adamas-TISG AsiaTraugott Kaminski, CEO of Adamas-TISG Asia

Adamas Asset Management, led by Paul Heffner and Barry Lau, is a leading financial asset manager with a global network. They believe, as I do, that there is tremendous potential in the yacht charter market in Asia, with this region boasting some of the best waters in the world and there being a gap in superyacht ownership between Asia and Europe.

Adamas’s commitment and belief in our strategy is strong, and we have three superyachts in production, all specially designed for charter.

With Adamas’s global network of clients, financial muscle, combined with The Italian Sea Group’s long experience and track record in yachting, our joint venture company Adamas-TISG Asia will provide a top-of-the-line product and service offering for only the most discerning charter customers in Asia.

What makes your charter strategy in Asia different to existing competitors?

We will be the first company in Asia that provides brand-new superyachts for charter. We will invest more than €80 million (US$90 million) in three brand-new superyachts.

One new yacht will arrive each year and each new yacht will be bigger than the previous one. This is an extremely strong commitment to our charter strategy in Asia.

A new Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition will arrive later this year and is the first of three new superyachts ordered by Adamas-TISG Asia

Arriving in Asia in spring 2021, a new Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition will be the first of three new superyachts ordered by Adamas-TISG Asia

The first yacht is Adamas 6, a Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White edition, which is 36.6m long and will arrive in spring 2021. The second, Adamas 8, will be a 55m Admiral megayacht with helipad and will arrive in 2022.

With our fleet of new superyachts for charter, we will be able to provide a unique product selection for the most discerning and demanding customers in Asia.

We are also targeting European, American and Russian superyacht owners who are used to cruising the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. They would like to explore Asia’s beautiful waters, but have no time to bring their superyachts to Asia and may not have good knowledge of Asian cruising grounds.

We will provide new superyachts for them with the full service they are used to. The much older yachts you often find in the Asian charter market may not meet their standards.

Our first Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition in Asia, La Vie, has already been cruising all around Asia from Hong Kong to Sanya, Vietnam, Singapore, Qingdao, Shanghai and Phuket. This proves the cruising ability of our yachts. She has also helped us gather a lot of customer interest because of her outstanding design.La Vie, the first Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition in AsiaLa Vie is the first Tecnomar Evo 120 Ice White Edition in Asia

Our yachts will be based in Asia and will always be available to any superyacht charter customer in Asia, combined with our bespoke levels of service. This is what we fulfil.

With this strategy, we know we will change the entire yacht charter market in Asia. As an indication, we already have six weeks of bookings on Adamas 6.

You are known for your entertainment of your Asian clients. Do your Asian clients enjoy a yacht differently from your European friends?

Yes. It has been 20 years since I entered the market, but I still love entertaining my friends and customers very much. Asian customers tend to entertain larger groups on their yachts and we have incorporated many designs to better serve them.

For example, our dining room has a large round table that can seat 12. This is ideal for larger dinner parties and can also serve as a boardroom for business meetings. We have also made an additional bar at the aft deck to increase the entertainment space.A bar (left) extends the entertainment in the covered aft deckA bar (left) extends the entertainment in the covered aft deck

Our extremely large jacuzzi on the flybridge is also extremely popular. To be able to enjoy the sun and sea, with two to three other friends or companions, is one of the highlights of being on our yacht.

On our large yachts, we will also have a complete spa and gym with full fitness facilities. The beach club design is also outstanding, although I would like to keep that under wraps until later. There is a lot to look forward to!

What are other unique strengths of your charter offering?

I have always believed absolutely in building up the best crew and technical service infrastructure for our yachts. This is the most fundamental factor for a great customer experience.

All our crew is internationally qualified, highly experienced and well-trained. The safety of our customers is our top-most priority.

We also try our very best to assist our clients with other requests that make their trip 100 per cent enjoyable, like arranging private jet travel, chauffeur service and all necessary arrangements in different locations. For us, it’s all about the customer.Adamas-TISG Asia will offer charters in key locations across AsiaAdamas-TISG Asia will offer charters in key locations across Asia

What are your key markets and cruising grounds?

Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia all possess exquisite waters to cruise in. We have a regional hub strategy for our charter services, in which customers may choose to do their business meetings in cities like Bangkok, Hong Kong and Singapore, and then hop on to our yacht for a few days of cruising or further relationship building. We intend to have our yachts present in all of these hubs in the near future.

Is it better to own a Tecnomar 120 Evo or charter one in Asia every holiday season?

We are a customer-focused company, so it all depends on us understanding the customer’s needs. There are many kinds.

We do have a lot of interest from existing yacht owners attracted to the outstanding design and features of the yacht, and they would love to take our superyachts ‘for a spin’ before making a decision.

Of course, we also have extremely affluent customers who believe in being ‘asset light’, as well as traditional charter customers looking for an unforgettable holiday on the water. For us, it’s all about satisfying the customer.

Sanlorenzo Asia has started 2020 with sales of five yachts in five months into Hong Kong, ranging in size from 76-146ft.

Asiamarine is now the official dealer for Bali Catamarans in Hong Kong and Macau, in addition to representing the French brand in Thailand and Vietnam since 2019. Asiamarine’s role in Hong Kong – where it has its headquarters – and Macau officially began on June 1, 2020.

Bali was founded by the Catana Group in 2014 and its annual sales have risen from 15 units in 2015 to 140 units in 2019, with 200 deliveries scheduled for 2020.

Boris Compagnon, Catana Group’s Sales Director, said Bali was delighted to increase the role of Asiamarine, which was founded by Eric Noyel and is represented in Thailand by sister company Asia Marine.

“We are very happy to be expanding our collaboration with Eric Noyel and Asiamarine in the general area of Southeast Asia,” Compagnon said. “Their knowledge of the local markets and their industry knowhow will clearly be an asset for Bali Catamarans in the region.”

Bali offers sailing catamarans ranging from 40-54ft (4.1, 4.3, 4.6, 4.8, 5.4 and Catspace Sail) and launched its powercat range last year with the 4.3 MY, which will be joined by the Catspace MY this year.

The brand’s notable design features include solid foredecks and a tilting, one-piece saloon door that slides under the ceiling to create a large covered area from the aft cockpit through to the saloon and galley.

Noyel, CEO of Asiamarine, which has almost 40 employees, admitted Bali’s designs attracted him to the brand. “The Bali tilting door is really one of the most intelligent features I have seen on a boat for a long time. It simply doubles your available space, 100 per cent of the time,” he said.

“With the extraordinary growth of the catamaran segment and the love for more square footage that our Asian clients share, I think we have found a winner that will please yacht owners in our part of the world. The only issue will be our ability to maintain enough production slots to enable us to deliver on the huge demand.”

Bali catamarans are built in the Catana Group’s shipyards in Canet-en-Rousillon on France’s south coast and La Rochelle on the west coast, while the group also has a factory in Tunisia.

Sanlorenzo Asia, formed in 2015 by Sanlorenzo in cooperation with regional partner Simpson Marine, also recently opened a flagship office in Singapore, designed by Lissoni Associati.

Nick Stratton, Sanlorenzo Asia’s Sales Manager, said: “It has been a turbulent year for almost everyone, so we are grateful for our continued success in Asia. Hong Kong has been a shining star with the sale of many distinctive Sanlorenzo yachts from across the range. It’s wonderful to see owners enjoying their yachts in local waters during this time.

Absolute is preparing to launch one of its most innovative models yet, with the upcoming Navetta 64 offering an optional interior ‘Beach Club’, where a sofa can convert into a double bed.

The model, which could debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, sits between the 58 and 68 in the Navetta range. The standard version of the 64’s transom has two windows and a pantograph central door, as on other Navettas.

However, the optional ‘Beach Club’ offers a full-windowed transom, with two sliding doors flanked by two fixed doors. The sliding doors are made watertight when a button activates an inflatable gasket that expands and adheres to the metal frame.

As well as offering an uninterrupted sea view, the room has a convertible sofa-cum-bed, two wardrobes, air-conditioning, stereo, TV, fridge, head and shower.

In addition to the ‘Beach Club’, there are three ensuite double cabins: a portside VIP double and starboard twin midships, and large owner’s suite forward.

Cesare Mastroianni, Absolute’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “For the owner’s cabin, we have reiterated the solution adopted on Navetta 68 and 73. The bow position has allowed us to provide huge windows that give an incomparable view of the sea but also a quietness and absolute privacy compared to the owner’s cabins of any other 64-footer.

“The full-beam bathroom, located at the extreme bow area, is large with generous windows on both sides. At first glance, even for us it was hard to believe we were able to do it.”

Aft of the twin cabin on starboard side is a crew cabin with a single bed and an optional fold-out Pullman bunk.

The main deck features a conventional cockpit that leads into an interior featuring an aft galley to port, a dining table and sofa to starboard. Forward is the main lounging area, aft of the raised twin-seat helm station.

The foredeck has a forward-facing C-shaped couch, table and adjustable triple sunpad. The flybridge has a central helm seat flanked by L-shaped sofas, while in the central area, a wet bar to port is opposite an aft-facing sofa and table. This entire forward area of the flybridge can be enclosed.

Mastroianni added: “The side wale in the cockpit has been opened, which may seem a minor feature, but in this way, we have a floor area extension of 60cm along the entire length. When you sit in the cockpit, you have a direct view over the sea from below the railing and not above it. Great, isn’t it?”

Engine options are twin Volvo Penta D13 IPS1200s or IPS1350s. The Navetta 64 could debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 8-13.

Dealer Absolute Marine, founded by Thomas Woo, revealed that an Absolute 47 Fly, a model launched at Cannes last year, is expected to arrive in Hong Kong in July, while other upcoming arrivals in the city include a Navetta 58 and a flagship Navetta 73.

Germany’s Nobiskrug, renowned for pioneering megayachts like the 143m Sailing Yacht A, has moved its 62m Project 794 from its shipyard in the northern city of Kiel to the modern climate-controlled superyacht hall of its Rendsburg facility, where the motor yacht will be outfitted.

Following the keel-laying in June last year, the construction of all sections and assembly of the complete hull took place in Kiel before the performance-driven, high-volume yacht designed by Espen Øino International was moved.

As it made its journey to Rendsburg, the 203ft motor yacht was emblazoned with a huge banner on the port hull stating, ‘The NEXT NOBISKRUG’. The trip started from Kiel Fjord with a passage through the locks, into the Kiel Canal and continuing west inland along the River Eider until it reached Rendsburg in the early afternoon.

Imperial, the owner’s representative and construction supervisor, and which also brokered the sale, says the five-deck Project 794 “features expansive exterior deck spaces and a generous open-plan layout”.

The 62m build marks Nobiskrug’s second successive superyacht with Imperial after the 77m Project Black Shark (Project 793), while the German builder and Monaco-based brokerage also worked together on the 73m Project 783 delivered in 2012.

RoMEA Making Charter Debut in Asia Through Imperial

The 81.8m RoMEA - recently listed among the world's top-10 most expensive charter yachts - is now exclusively available for charter in Asia, through Imperial, for the first time since she began operating in 2015.

Imperial, founded in 2005, has been involved in many recent high-profile superyachts including the 136m Flying Fox (Lurssen) – the world’s largest charter yacht – the 106m Amadea (Lurssen), 86m Amore Vero (Oceanco), 82m RoMEA (Abeking & Rasmussen), 67m Fast Support Vessel 6711 (Damen), 60m Arkley (Lurssen), 60m Event (Amels) and 55m Lili (Amels).

Although founded a century earlier in 1905, Nobiskrug only launched its first superyacht, the 92.5m Tatoosh, in 2000. It has since built many megayachts from 60-80m as well as larger models including the 143m Sailing Yacht A, the triple-masted, sail-assisted motor yacht designed by Philippe Starck that was launched in 2015.

Nobiskrug spent most of its first century building barges, steamboats, tugs, tankers, cargo vessels and naval training ships, but is today recognised as one of the world’s leading megayacht builders, with 900 employees.

Johan Valentijn, Nobiskrug’s Managing Director, said: “Central to Nobiskrug’s success is the integral contribution made by all of our valued employees, with whom we share our momentous 115th anniversary, and all of our esteemed clients, partners and suppliers. Today we stand together, stronger than ever, and 115 years young.”
