Northrop & Johnson, the venerable yacht brokerage firm, has announced the appointment of Brian Zhuang as its newest Yacht Sales and Charter Broker. This strategic addition to the team comes as the company marks a significant milestone – its 75th anniversary.
Zhuang will leverage his international perspective with clients to find the perfect yacht for their needs
Shenzhen-born Zhuang, a rising star in the yachting world, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With a background in mechanical engineering and experience living in China and the US, Zhuang, who is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English, is well positioned to develop the burgeoning Asian market.
He established Omnia Marine in 2008, a yacht dealership with offices in Shenzhen and Hainan. In the following years, Zhuang represented prestigious European and American yacht brands, providing comprehensive services, including yacht sales, management, and after-sales support.
Zhuang brings with him a deep understanding of the yachting lifestyle with invaluable expertise in yacht design, materials, and construction gleaned from a decade spent investing in one of Italy’s renowned yacht builders, making him an exceptional advocate for his clients, looking to buy, sell or charter a yacht.
Jim Northrop and George Johnson opened their first office on Madison Avenue New York and now operate globally
As Northrop & Johnson celebrates 75 years of sales across the seas, the company has reflected on its journey from a small brokerage house to a global leader in luxury yachting. Founded in 1949, by visionary yachtsmen, Jim Northrop and George Johnson in Manhattan, the firm has consistently pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in yacht sales, charter, and management.
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Northrop & Johnson grew rapidly in the US and by the late 1970s had also opened offices in France and Spain.
In 2020, the brokerage was acquired by MarineMax and following launches of Fairport Global in 2023 and the MarineMax Superyacht Division in 2024 today runs offices globally in locations including Italy, Monaco, Thailand and Turkey.
