Camper & Nicholsons has announced the appointment of Benjamin Bensahel as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Bensahel takes the helm following the acquisition by China’s Sea Expandary Group of a majority stake in Camper & Nicholsons earlier this year.
Bensahel succeeds Paolo Casani, “who has decided to leave Camper & Nicholsons after successfully leading the company and completing its sale to its new majority shareholder”, according to the international brokerage house.
Bensahel’s appointment follows six years of leadership within Camper & Nicholsons, most recently as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for Europe & the Middle East. Having joined the company in Monaco as Sales Manager in 2020, he was promoted to Head of Sales Europe, subsequently extending his responsibilities to include the US and the Middle East, before his appointment as CCO.
As CEO, Bensahel will assume responsibility for the company’s worldwide operations, overseeing its brokerage, charter, new construction and yacht management divisions.
“It is a tremendous honour to take on the role of CEO of Camper & Nicholsons, a company with such an extraordinary heritage and an exceptional team of people around the world. Having been part of the business for the past six years, I have seen first-hand the talent, dedication and expertise that make Camper & Nicholsons so special,” Bensahel said.
“As we enter this new chapter with the support of Sea Expandary Group, my priority will be to build on these strengths, expand our presence in existing markets, develop new markets and opportunities, and foster greater collaboration across sales, charter, new construction and yacht management to deliver an even more comprehensive and seamless experience for our clients.
“I am grateful to the Board for their trust, and to Paolo for his leadership and support over the years. I look forward to working alongside our teams to drive the next phase of growth and reinforce Camper & Nicholsons’ position as a leading name in the global yachting industry.”
Camper & Nicholsons stated that the company “extends its sincere thanks to Casani for his leadership and dedication”.
Appointed President of the Board in 2015 and CEO in 2017, the Italian led the turnaround of Camper & Nicholsons, overseeing the expansion of the company’s international network with the opening of new offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Athens, Cannes and Viareggio.
Under his leadership, the company broadened its service offering through the creation of the New Build, Design, Insurance Solutions and Corporate Services divisions.
