The specialist superyacht law firm is celebrating its first anniversary, having advised on more than 25,000GT of vessels in its debut year.

Teji | Cowie, the superyacht law firm launched in September 2025, is celebrating its first anniversary after a year in which it advised owners on matters representing approximately €1.5 billion in yacht value and more than 25,000GT of vessels.

The firm opened its doors with a straightforward proposition: that owners, family offices and industry professionals want lawyers who are as commercially minded as they are technically expert; and who are ultimately judged on whether the deal gets done. 

In practice, that has meant an end to the hourly rate, a technology-led approach to how the work is delivered, and a senior team on every matter. Twelve months in, the model is working. 

“We set out to build the firm we would have wanted to instruct – quick to respond, clear on cost, and focused on getting to signing,” said Alex Teji, Founding Partner. “The most satisfying part of year one hasn’t been the numbers. It’s the clients and referring intermediaries who have come back to us a second and a third time.”

That growth has been matched by rapid recruitment. Teji | Cowie has made a series of hires across both its London and Hong Kong offices during its first year, with further appointments to be announced in the coming months as the firm continues to build capacity in both hubs. 

“Our clients and their yachts move between Europe and Asia constantly, so having real strength in both London and Hong Kong isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s the job,” added Antony Cowie, Founding Partner. “We are hiring in both offices, and we’re not finished yet. We’re building a firm for the people who work here, not for the people who founded it. Get that right and the rest follows.”

It has also been an active year across the international superyacht calendar. The team attended the Singapore Yachting Festival, Palma International Boat Show and Cannes Yachting Festival, and will be at the Monaco Yacht Show (September 23-26), where it will mark the anniversary with clients and friends of the firm.
