RSYC hosts Christmas Boat Light-up
Republic of Singapore Yacht Club is organising a Christmas Boat Light-up including a parade of boats along the West Coast Park waterfront.
Republic of Singapore Yacht Club is hosting a Christmas Boat Light-up from December 9-11 from 7pm-10pm each evening. On December 10, the event will include a boat parade on the waterfront by West Coast Park for the first time. The event is expected to include about 16 boats and yachts of different sizes decked out in Christmas lights and decorations.
There will be a static boat display on December 9 and 11, while on Saturday, December 10, the West Coast Park waterfront parade will depart from RSYC at about 7.30pm, when Minister for Transport, S Iswaran, will officiate the light-up.
The parade route will start at RSYC’s marina, proceed to the West Coast Park waterfront and turn back into RSYC’s marina. The recommended viewing points will be at the promenade lookout jetty at West Coast Park. “Viewing of the parade from the promenade lookout jetty is free of charge, making this a great family event to embrace the spirit of the holiday season,” RSYC stated.
The participating boats will be judged by a panel of judges between 8.45 pm and 9.15 pm, and the boats stand a chance to win attractive cash prizes. The event will culminate with an awards ceremony at the foreshore to recognise all participants’ efforts and celebrate winning yachts.
RSYC Marina will be open to the public for the event, so everyone can chance to see the participating boats up close. Marina entry tickets cost S$5 on December 10 and include a lucky draw ticket to win a two-day/one-night stay in RSYC Marina Lodge.
All entry ticket funds will go directly to the Children’s Wishing Well, a registered charity providing support to children and focused on the holistic education of the children and youth from disadvantage background. About 20 beneficiaries from the Children’s Wishing Well will join the event and watch the boat parade at the marina.
