Daniel Sambu from Kenya’s Big Life Foundation will be among speakers at The Elephant Foundation Gala Dinner in Hong Kong on November 24.

The Elephant Foundation is again hosting the Elephant Week in Hong Kong, where the highlight will be a Gala Dinner at Island Shangri-La in Pacific Place on November 24.

The theme of Elephant Week this year is ‘Community in Conservation’ and Daniel Sambu from Big Life Foundation returns to Hong Kong to talk about developments in this area in the Amboseli region of Kenya.

During Elephant Week, Sambu will make presentations at many schools alongside Colin Dawson, founder and Director of The Elephant Foundation, and one of Asia’s leading yacht insurance specialists.

Sambu has participated in Elephant Week several times and is now playing a greater role in advising the Kenya government on human-wildlife conflict matters. His current positions include Coordinator of the Predator Compensation Fund at Big Life Foundation.

A 10-person Maasai Table at the gala dinner costs HK$22,500, the equivalent of HK$2,250 per head. A Rhino Table for HK$45,000 includes 12 people per table, six elephant adoptions for a year, six ranger insurances for a year and 12 ‘Friends’ of The Elephant Foundation.

An Elephant Table costs HK$56,000 and covers everything included in the Rhino Table along with two student education sponsorships for a year, each worth US$1,000.

“In keeping with some requests for greater involvement year round from guests at the dinner, we’ve added some table options over and above our standard table,” Dawson said. “These offer special value, especially considering what they will mean to those on the ground living with wildlife.”
