Poland’s Conrad Shipyard has announced a new build contract with Frank Neubelt Yacht Designs and Neubelt’s German Yacht Couture project agency for C-130, an innovative 40m sailing superyacht.

Neubelt and German Yacht Couture affiliate Lyacht are handling exterior and interior design, and naval architecture, while FNYD is providing interior styling. Conrad, located in the north-coast city of Gdansk, is scheduled to start building the 130-footer in spring 2023, with construction estimated to take up to 24 months.

Mikolaj Krol, CEO of Conrad, said: “Our collaboration with Frank Neubelt is based on strong superyacht expertise on all sides but also on the trust and long-lasting friendship between our companies. I feel truly privileged and motivated to build this demanding, game-changing project.”

Conrad believes C-130 will be the first flybridge performance sailing yacht of this size with its specially invented indoor-outdoor saloon.

C-130 will have a carbon-fibre hull and deckhouse

The wide, sled-style hull is set to be made from lightweight carbon-fibre, while a telescopic lifting keel-fin with bulb provides a draft of 3.8-6.0m. The rigging and mast will offer a powerful Code-0/Gennaker sail plan with a retractable carbon bowsprit.

The carbon-built deckhouse features specially developed full-screen side windows, while the lower deck provides a spacious owner’s area with its own aft-deck terrace entrance, plus three guest cabins and forward crew quarters for six.

At the owner’s request, the yacht will also be equipped with a retractable, 360-degree, hybrid-powered engine with two rudders offering a cruising speed of 12 knots. The yacht will have storage for a 5m owner’s tender and a smaller one for crew.

Conrad was founded within the Marine Project shipyard in 2003 and is currently completing C144S, Poland’s biggest luxury motor yacht to date.
