Make Waves for Hong Kong has raised over HK$3 million to address “the chronic swimming illiteracy in the city”.
Simpson Marine continued its support of long-standing charity partner, Splash, for the latter’s annual fundraising relay swim around Hong Kong Island, Make Waves for Hong Kong. The supporting team, including the crew on the Aquila 28 Molokai pilot boat and Highfield safety RIBs, helped ensure the safety of the swimmers throughout the fundraising event.
Olympic swimmers Siobhan Haughey and Jasmine Alkhaldi were among 30 people participating in the multi-relay swim around Hong Kong Island. The line-up also included participants who spent months training and overcoming their swim illiteracy, a commitment that went beyond the physical endurance required for the swim.
The event proved a resounding success, raising over HK$3 million contributed by over 1,000 donors. The money raised will empower Splash to provide swimming lessons to more than 2,000 children and adults from under-resourced communities.
Simpson Marine stated: “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all five swimming teams and the support crews on site. Your efforts have made a profound impact, introducing the joy and safety of swimming to numerous children and adults. On behalf of everyone at Simpson Marine, we commend you for your remarkable achievement and thank you for making waves.”
“As we celebrate this success, we also look forward to future collaborations and initiatives. By supporting Splash, we are not only contributing to their noble cause but also investing in the future of our society. Every dollar donated goes towards empowering individuals, improving their quality of life, and creating a ripple effect of positive change in their communities.”
