When the debut hull of the uber-luxe SpaceCat 36m, with its understated exterior designed by Espen Øino International of Monaco, was boarded by charter broker Lies Sol in Phuket she was immediately wowed.

A Charter Broker for Northrop & Johnson APAC’s Thailand office on the southern island’s Ao Po Marina could not help but be impressed by the sprawling interior and deck space and beautiful styling of this power catamaran, the first configuration of the SpaceCat range by now mainland-China majority-owned SilverYachts, the elevated yacht brand founded in Australia.

At this Phuket meeting with the new owner Northrop & Johnson (N&J) was appointed as the Central Agent for chartering of this 35.9m (118ft) catamaran, which has cutting-edge tech on board incorporated into its contemporary design, across a maximum beam of a generous 13.6m (44ft 7ins).

The owner liked the fact that N&J not only offers a hands-on local presence, knowledge of Phuket cruising grounds and industry-standard charter procedures via its Southeast Asian headquarters in Phuket, but also benefits from its international reach and proximity to the Mediterranean retail charter broker hotspots of Antibes, Nice and Monaco via its Monaco office, which will be the ‘official’ Central Agent of this charter contact.  

Built in 2022, deck space includes a sizeable pool aft of the main deck and ample space for loungers here and/or aft on the wraparound fly deck (that also has a large lounge with sofa and moveable reclining chairs). The upper deck is also home to the master suite, which opens onto a small dining/bar/office space. Above this is a further sun deck.

On the main deck, plenty of lockers for marine toys and stowable space on deck are provided. And the saloon, galley and interior lounge areas are huge.

In the lower deck of the twin hulls, cabins include a king double, two queen-size doubles and a twin-bed set-up, accommodating eight passengers.

There is also accommodation space for a captain and seven to eight crew members.

At maximum speed of 21 knots, the SpaceCat still offers smooth cruising

Four 588Kw Volvo Penta engines bring maximum speed of 21 knots, with a cruising pace of around 16 knots, and the SpaceCat has an extremely efficient fuel economy, even at high speeds.

Calm at anchor for relaxation, water-toy fun or entertaining

Charter rates are per week for yacht and crew start at US$160,000 in the summer season, with winter prices from US$175,000; all other expenses are chargeable. The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is 35 per cent to cover all charter costs for fuel, food and beverages, National Park fees, special activities such as scuba diving. Shorter charters from three days (two nights), are available upon request in the summer season from May-November, from Phuket to Phang Nga and Krabi.

Guests can relax on board and / or enjoy plenty of water toys, including 2 iAqua water scooters, an e-foil, a wakeboard and SUPs.
