Silent-Yachts’ Fano facility focuses on 60/62 series

The Austrian-owned builder of solar-electric catamarans has restructured its facility in Fano to increase production of the Silent 60/62 and Silent Tender models.

Silent-Yachts is dedicating production of its solar-electric catamaran yachts at its Italian facility in Fano to the Silent 60/62 models and is aiming to launch one unit per month from 2024. The remaining Silent 60/62 yachts, all Silent 80s and the flagship Silent 120 are being built by a partner shipyard in Turkey.

Over 15 Silent 60/62 yachts have been assigned for construction in Italy, with the next available delivery in early 2025. The slightly longer Silent 62 3-deck, which offers a full-size flybridge, enclosed or open, is proving more popular than the original Silent 60, with both based on the same platform. The first Silent 62 3-deck is scheduled to launch in late summer.

However, the next delivery in June will be a two-deck version of the Silent 62, a special one-off project with two dedicated conference rooms, two guest cabins and accommodation for crew. Her US owner plans to make the yacht available for charter to corporate clients.

Fully acquired by Silent-Yachts last year (click for article), the Fano facility has 22,000sqm of covered space and a similar exterior surface area, and benefits from a long-standing network of subcontractors and suppliers.

Michael Köhler, founder and CEO of Silent-Yachts (click for interview), said: “Since fully acquiring the facility, the focus has been on establishing a thoroughly reliable and efficient series production process.

“The GRP hulls and superstructures are produced and assembled in one shed, then transferred to another for installation of the technical equipment and interior furniture. Next door to the outfitting shed, we have a large warehouse for storing components and materials.”

Köhler also revealed that production of the fully electric Silent Tender series will be based in Fano. Late last year, Silent-Yachts launched the prototype of the 4m Silent Tender 400 (click for article), which was fitted with an electric outboard motor. The Silent Tender range will expand to include 400, 450 and 520 models available with electric jet propulsion.
