Sanlorenzo launches first SD132

The Italian builder signed five orders for the flagship of its semi-displacement series before the launch of hull one.
The SD132 is Sanlorenzo’s largest composite yacht
Sanlorenzo, represented across Asia-Pacific by Simpson Marine, has launched the first unit of the SD132, the new flagship of a semi-displacement range that includes the SD90, SD96 and SD118. Featuring exterior and interior design by Zuccon International Project, the 40.7m superyacht has a beam of 8.47m (27ft 9in) and is the Italian shipyard’s biggest composite-built yacht to date.
Sanlorenzo has described the 132-footer’s volume of 420GT as “an unparalleled volume for a yacht of this size”. The space is achieved largely through an asymmetrical design featuring just one exterior walkway on the main deck, to port, and one on the upper deck, to starboard, so “balancing the weight distribution and optimising the volumes”, according to Sanlorenzo.
The SD132 has a top speed of 17 knots and a range of 3,200nm at economical speed, with two 1,650hp MAN V12 or 1,622hp CAT C32 engines.
Tommaso Vincenzi, President of Sanlorenzo’s Yacht Business Unit, said: “We are thrilled with the launch of the SD132 project, which embodies the perfect combination of significant size, innovative design and timeless elegance in true Sanlorenzo style.

“The exceptional market response has been confirmed by the five contracts already signed before the launch, demonstrating the great success and appreciation this yacht is receiving among owners. Every detail of the SD132 reflects the dedication and passion of our team, which has once again sought to challenge traditional limits related to onboard space and volume, achieving a remarkable result.”
The SD132 continues the legacy of the SD line, whose former models included the SD92, SD112 and SD126. However, appealing new features include the expansive beach area, where fold-down doors aft and on both sides create waterside terraces on three sides, contributing to 70sqm of walkable space just above water level.
Just forward of the covered beach club is a port side garage that can accommodate a 6.25m tender stored laterally and has transverse launching capability, a feature typically found on larger yachts. Forward on the main deck is an additional hangar designed to house toys or a rescue boat.

Sanlorenzo has achieved greater interior spaces and volume by utilising asymmetrical design, which it first developed to much acclaim in its new SL series models.
On the main deck, the aft cockpit leads into the saloon, which starts with a dining table to port and leads to the main lounge. Forward is an enormous 55sqm master suite, which includes a TV lounge, office area, fridge, full-width bedroom and full-width walk-in dressing room, and en-suite bathroom to port. The lower deck includes four guest cabins and the crew area with a dinette and laundry facilities.
The upper deck has a huge, open aft deck, with a lounge area aft and a covered dining table. The interior includes a skylounge with sliding doors to starboard facing a fold-out balcony, while forward is the wheelhouse and captain’s cabin. The sundeck is another huge outdoor space, offering 85sqm of floor space, with the middle half covered by a hard top.
The SD132’s first unit offers an interior design language “inspired by the colours of the earth and nature itself … featuring soft tones and textures that emphasise sensory engagement for a tactile experience”, Sanlorenzo stated. Decor ranges from the bathroom furnishings’ stone-like cement finish to the owner suite’s combination of dark and light woods.

Bernardo Zuccon of Zuccon International Project said: “The interiors reflect the stylistic journey undertaken by the studio, aimed at enhancing a sense of naturalness and establishing a sensory connection between the owner and the yacht. A material mood board and earth-inspired colours create authentic, balanced and welcoming environments.
“The exteriors also demonstrate a commitment to research. Innovative layout solutions and technological flexibility seamlessly integrate the yacht with the surrounding nature, emphasising the liveability of the spaces.”
As well as the SD series, Sanlorenzo’s composite Yacht ranges include the SL planing line (SL86, SL86A, SL90A, SL96A, SL106A, SL120A), SX crossover models (SX76, SX88, SX100, SX112) and SP smart performance coupes (SP92, SP110).
The shipyard’s metal Superyacht lines comprise Steel (50Steel, 52Steel, 57Steel, 62Steel, 68/73Steel), Explorer (47m 500Exp), X-Space (44m) and Alloy (44m).
