A highlight of Pershing’s 40th anniversary celebrations, the GTX70 is the newest model in the Ferretti Group brand’s line of ‘sport utility yachts’.
Pershing has revealed photos and details of its GTX70, which had its world premiere at this year’s Venice Boat Show and was then a star at Pershing’s 40th anniversary celebrations in Capri in July. Following the GTX116 and GTX80, the three-cabin GTX70 is the newest and smallest model in the brand’s range of ‘sport utility yachts’, with an overall length of 21.76m and a 5.42m beam.
Fitted with three 900hp Volvo Penta D13-IPS1200 engines, the GTX70 reaches 36 knots and has a cruising speed of about 30 knots (preliminary data). Advanced technology on the CE Class A yacht includes Volvo IPS electro-hydraulic steering, Humphree Interceptor trim control and Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilisers.
Vallicelli Design and the Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee, led by Piero Ferrari, and Engineering Department collaborated on the design of the sportbridge model. The GTX70 is produced at the Ferretti Group Plug and Mould facility in Forli and completed at Pershing’s newly expanded production facility in Mondolfo, along with the other GTX models.
The exterior features a sleek deckhouse and a near-vertical bow connected to the keel line. Pershing states that the GTX70 offers 30 per cent more exterior space and 10 per cent more interior space “than the areas available on other models in the same category”.
The impressive beach club expands to 23sqm when the side terraces are deployed, widening the aft beam to 8m. The central swim platform can be level with the beach club or lowered using dual linear lift technology, enabling it to launch or retrieve a jetski or Williams TurboJet 325 tender.
On the first unit, the beach club incorporates an aft-facing triple sunpad and is also furnished with a deckchair and an armchair by Modenatech, two carbon-fibre design elements. An optional retractable electric awning can be added to shade the beach area.
Three steps lead up to the main deck and a cockpit shaded by the sportbridge overhang and furnished to port with a C-shaped sofa and a table. The area is directly connected to the U-shaped galley on the port side by a retractable up-down glass panel, while guests enter the interior via a folding door on the starboard side.
The widebody structure creates a large saloon featuring facing L-shaped sofas, as well as an extending table to port, and an up-down TV behind the starboard sofa. Lighting by Altraluce features decorative LED light strips in the ceiling, helping diffuse lighting across the entire deck.
The raised helm station has two monitors and a joystick between the two pilot seats. There’s also a starboard door to provide access to the bow area, which can be fitted with a sunpad and a dinette containing an up-down table that can be lowered and covered to provide one big sunbathing area.
The staircase to port leads to the lower deck, which includes three en-suite guest cabins. The full-beam master suite is midships and includes a walk-in wardrobe next to the bathroom, both positioned aft to provide further separation between the bedroom and engine room.
The VIP cabin is located forward and has a double bed with the headboard against the starboard side to create more usable floor space, while the guest cabin has two beds arranged crosswise. The laundry room can be accessed from the hallway, while the crew area is forward and contains bunk beds and a bathroom.
Up top, the sportbridge spans 16sqm and features a wide sunbathing area aft, an L-shaped dinette with extending table and an outdoor galley athwartships. Forward is a three-seat helm station with the wheel on the starboard side, which allows a skipper to look aft down the starboard staircase to the cockpit when mooring.
Shade for the dining area, galley and helm station can be provided by a folding awning with carbon-fibre poles or, on request, an innovative bimini top with prepreg carbon-fibre poles and a streamlined design.
