Designed with Cassetta Yacht Designers and Elie Saab Group, the 139ft superyacht features all guest cabins on the main deck and the saloon on a walkaround upper deck.
Maiora, part of Next Yacht Group, has revealed details of the first 42 Exuma, which is under construction at the Viareggio shipyard and scheduled for delivery to its owner in the summer of 2027. The 139ft tri-deck was designed by Maiora with Giorgio Maria Cassetta of Cassetta Yacht Designers for the exterior and with the Elie Saab Group for the interiors.
The 42.5m superyacht has a beam of 8.9m, a volume of 430GT and a draft of just 1.55m. Twin 2,000hp Volvo Penta IPS engines offer a top speed of 20 knots, a cruising speed of 16 and a range of 2,100nm at 10 knots. The option of three 2,600hp MTU engines can deliver a top speed of 28-30 knots, a cruising speed of 26 knots and a range of 1,800nm at 10 knots.
However, the yacht is most notable for its innovative layout, which includes all guest accommodation and the wheelhouse on the main deck, and the upper deck and sundeck dedicated to social areas.
Sebastiano Fanizza, CEO of Next Yacht Group, said: “When onboard experience is designed properly, the yacht becomes transparent to the eyes of the owners. From this seed, the 42 Exuma was born, inaugurating a new era of living at sea, surpassing outdated conventions to embrace a yachting idea that finally puts people, not old logics, at the heart of the project.
“It’s a paradigm shift reminiscent of the transition from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance: spaces designed not to meet static logics, but to be truly lived, enjoyed and shared. We chose to break with conventional approaches, redefining the balance between aesthetics, function and onboard wellbeing to restore centrality to experience and quality of life.”
The two-level beach area includes a large sunbathing area that covers storage for water toys, aft-facing sofas, and opening terraces that expand the main-deck cockpit. The main deck includes four guest cabins and a full-beam owner’s suite, while the wheelhouse is forward and can be supplemented by an additional pilot station on the upper deck or sundeck.
The lower deck includes a garage for a 6m tender plus two jetskis, and a multifunctional space that can be configured as a gym, massage room, media room, or sixth guest cabin with bathroom. The crew quarters include accommodation for nine crew, who also benefit from a covered outdoor area forward on the main deck that can be used for relaxation or exercise.
Cassetta said: “The most significant innovation brought by the shipyard was in the layout. We moved the guest cabins to the main deck, dedicating the lower deck to services, and leaving the upper deck and sundeck completely free and fully dedicated to the guests.”
The walkaround upper deck includes an aft pool with a transparent bottom that filters light below, while the main lounge can open on all four sides, allowing uninterrupted views from bow to stern. At the bow, a circular sunbed area can be remotely rotated. The 80sqm sundeck is dedicated to relaxation and outdoor living.
The interiors by Elie Saab, under the creative direction of Carlo Colombo, include a selection of pieces from the Elie Saab Maison collection, complemented by bespoke elements designed specifically for the yachting environment. Luxurious materials include Fumo di Londra and Mystic Ocean marble, light bronzed mirrors, and teak wood flooring and ceilings.
Elie Saab Jr, CEO of Elie Saab Group, said: “Our collaboration with Maiora marks a strategic expansion of the Elie Saab lifestyle into the world of yachting. Following our success in interiors, home décor, hospitality and branded real estate, this evolution was both natural and intentional.
“The 42 Exuma is not just a yacht. It is a bold expression of our vision: to craft immersive, elegant spaces where design, precision and comfort converge. With this launch, we bring Elie Saab to the sea, translating our legacy of craftsmanship and refined aesthetics into a frontier of contemporary luxury.”
