Hong Kong hosts World Wakesurf Championships

Local athletes starred at the first Nautique IWWF World Wakesurf Championships, with Asia Yachting supporting the nine-day event.
The IWWF World Wakesurf Championships featured over 130 athletes
Hosts Hong Kong finished second to the USA in the overall team standings at the first IWWF World Wakesurf Championships. Held in Taipo Waterfront Park from November 2-10, the event featured over 130 athletes from 19 countries and regions.
Hong Kong athletes won five golds, five silvers and one bronze
Also serving as a qualifier for The World Games 2025, the nine-day event was sanctioned by IWWF (International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation), organised by the Hong Kong China Waterski Association (HKCWA) and sponsored by Nautique Boats.

Asia Yachting, the Nautique dealer in Hong Kong, supported the event with two Super Air Nautique G23 boats, one of the world’s leading wakesurf models. In addition, with the brand celebrating its 100th anniversary next year, a new 2025 Centennial Edition of the Nautique G23 was displayed at the event entrance, serving as a popular photo spot.

The judging panel comprised professional wakesurf athletes of diverse international backgrounds and “ensured a fair and impartial evaluation process, adding credibility to the competition and reflecting its global nature”, Asia Yachting stated.

While USA took home gold medal in the overall team standing, ahead of Hong Kong and third-placed Ukraine, the hosts did themselves proud in an event featuring the sport’s best athletes from across the world. In total, Hong Kong athletes secured five golds, five silvers and one bronze.

“The inaugural Nautique IWWF World Wakesurf Championships in Hong Kong was a resounding success, marking a significant milestone in Hong Kong wakesurfing. The competitions showcased what Hong Kong has to offer in wake sports on a global stage,” Asia Yachting stated.
