The newly formed Hong Kong Yachting Association (HKYA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Zhongshan’s port authority and Shenwan Town government in mainland China. Tommy Ho, CEO of Voyager Risk Solutions, is Chairman of the newly formed HKYA.
“This agreement facilitates direct entry of Hong Kong-registered yachts into Zhongshan for maintenance and repair services. This landmark collaboration supports the development of a more integrated and efficient yacht services ecosystem between Hong Kong and mainland China,” read a statement shared by Voyager, an insurance brokerage specialised in yachts, businesses and private clients.
“The partnership also enhances HKYA members’ access to cost-effective, high-quality repair services, while opening new business opportunities in technical training, certification, refitting and marine-related tourism.”
The statement continued: “With streamlined customs procedures now in place, this initiative not only strengthens Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s yacht hub but also solidifies HKYA’s role as a key driver in building a sustainable cross-border maritime industry within the Greater Bay Area.”
Recently launched, the Hong Kong Yachting Association “is dedicated to supporting and representing yacht owners across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”.
“We advocate for the interests of yacht owners, promote technical innovation, enhance service quality, and celebrate yachting culture, with a vision to become the region’s most influential and comprehensive platform empowering yacht owners and enriching their yachting experience.”
The association is inviting member applications “to access exclusive networking and knowledge resources and drive sustainable growth in the yachting community”.
