The launch of Beneteau’s first Grand Trawler 62

Beneteau has released photos of the launch of the first Grand Trawler 62, the brand’s new flagship powerboat and the first model in a new range that has evolved from the builder’s smaller Swift Trawler line (35-50).

The model is being built in Italy at Groupe Beneteau’s Monfalcone plant, best known as the home of Monte Carlo Yachts before the facility also took on production for sister brands including CNB sailing yachts and now Beneteau’s largest range of powerboats.

At the end of January, Beneteau is hosting a VIP weekend for factory tours with the assistance of its Premium Service Team, while customer sea trials are expected to begin in April.

The world premiere of the Grand Trawler 62 is scheduled for the Cannes Yachting Festival (September 7-12). The model’s US debut is scheduled for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (October 27-31), while a hull will arrive in the Asia-Pacific before the end of the year.

Measuring 19m overall, the new model is a design collaboration between MICAD Naval Architecture Office and Nauta Design, which handled the interior. At a cruising speed of nine knots, the model will have a cruising range of 900nm with 10 per cent fuel reserve, due to her full-displacement hull specially designed by MICAD for efficiency.

The yacht’s features include a raised helm station and a 31sqm flybridge featuring a U-shaped sofa, relaxation spaces and sunpad. Lower-deck layout options include three or four guest cabins, each with an average headroom of 2m.
