Global Marine Business Advisors has appointed four new consultants including two in key Asian markets.
Colin Dawson with Christy Lai and Daniel Chong of The George Group
GMBA (Global Marine Business Advisors) has appointed four new consultants including Colin Dawson in Hong Kong and Kenta Inaba in Japan. The pair expand the organisation’s reach in Asia, where Singapore-based YP Loke is a founding member of the network of independent marine industry consultants.
All three feature regularly in YACHT STYLE’s annual Asia’s Yachting Leaders feature, which will next appear in Issue 75, the first edition of 2024.
Dawson, who moved to Hong Kong in 1994, is one of Asia’s most experienced yacht insurance specialists and is Managing Director of The George Group, a partner of Howden.
“With his deep understanding of the Hong Kong and wider Asian yacht and insurance market, and his extensive travel and knowledge of the market, Colin is a huge asset to the GMBA team,” GMBA stated. “His experience and ability to forge strong relationships with key stakeholders makes Colin well placed to support businesses wishing to grow their business in this market or those who seek to develop their interests in this dynamic region.”
Inaba, President and owner of Super Yacht Logistics Japan
Inaba is President and owner of Super Yacht Logistics Japan, runs Yachtzoo Tokyo and holds an MBA from the University of Miami and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Civil Engineering. He is a key player in the superyacht sector and has been instrumental in helping ease regulations in Japan for visiting superyachts.
“Kenta brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise regarding the Japanese marine sector,” GMBA stated. “His strong connections within the Japanese market will be instrumental in establishing GMBA as a trusted partner in this important market.”
GMBA has also appointed Julie Balzano in Latin America, where she has extensive experience of the area’s challenges and opportunities. Balzano’s former roles include eight years as an export director for the US-based NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association) before 2½ years at MarineMax where she led brand marketing for leading yacht brands.
In Sweden, GMBA has appointed Annika Lindqvist, previously with Sweboat, to replace Bjorn Ingemanson, who has recently taken up a role leading the board at Zipwake.
Veda Pretorius, Chair of GMBA, stated: “These four strategic additions to our team will enable us to better serve our clients and strengthen our presence in these key regions.”
GMBA is a key provider of consulting services to businesses within the marine sector, with 22 consultants spanning 21 countries.
