The Azimut-Benetti Group has retained its position as the world’s most prolific manufacturer of 24m-plus yachts after securing top spot in the 2024 Global Order Book, which features data from 177 shipyards worldwide and is produced by Boat International magazine.
Azimut-Benetti, which has shipyards in Varazze, Viareggio and Livorno, tops the lists for both number of units under construction and the cumulative length of projects. Among megayacht-focused builders, Dutch shipyards Feadship and Damen Yachting are third and sixth respectively, while Germany’s Lürssen is fourth.

Following consistent growth, the Group’s production value has nearly doubled in the last five years, from €700 million to €1.3 billion, with an order portfolio extending until 2027. Direct employees have grown 24 per cent in the last three years to 2,400.

Over the next three years, the company is investing €150 million, including in support of the Group’s dedication to research and development, specifically focusing on solutions to reduce environmental impact such as the use of HVOlution, hydrotreated vegetable oil produced by Eni.
In collaboration with Lloyd’s Register and the Superyacht Eco Association, the Group is also actively promoting the development of a public index to measure yacht efficiency. In the spring of 2024, the shipyard will present the first model in its Seadeck series, its first hybrid range.
The Azimut-Benetti Group also includes the Lusben refit facility in Livorno and the Yachtique styling studio in Tuscany. The company is still owned by the Vitelli family, with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Italian private equity firm Tamburi Investment Partners (TIP) as minority shareholders.
