Asia’s first Fountaine Pajot Power 67 buyer visited the La Rochelle shipyard to discuss detailed customisation.
Fountaine Pajot recently welcomed the Japanese owner of the first Power 67 sold in Asia and which is due to be delivered this summer. The client is working closely with the French builder to customise the brand’s flagship powercat and visited the La Rochelle shipyard for extensive meetings with the Fountaine Pajot Service team.
The client was accompanied in La Rochelle by Japanese dealer Active Marine and Kevin Corfa, Fountaine Pajot’s Head of Asia, as they met with several Fountaine Pajot Service representatives. As well as a factory tour, the client was also able to view units of the Power 67 on the production line and during commissioning at the pontoon.
In the meetings, topics beyond the standard options list included hyper-luxury fabrics, materials used in the saloon and flybridge, different shades inside and outside, brands for appliances and even a new hard top with a large amount of integrated solar panels.
The client was invited to bring samples of materials and show examples of ideas, such as from luxury homes or supercars. He also introduced his own suppliers in Japan, which enabled Fountaine Pajot Service to follow up directly with the vendors.
Corfa said: “The main purpose of the visit to France was for the client to experience the custom process under Fountaine Pajot Service, as the requests go beyond what can typically be discussed or confirmed with a dealer. The owner is using this dedicated in-house service to add a fair number of custom options, adding extra luxury onboard his Power 67. The ideas were discussed in the meeting and validated with the FPS team members.
“The main goal of this tailor-made service is to elevate the purchase experience by listening to the owner’s needs and their cruising programme. It’s important we leave room for owners to express themselves with their yacht, and that all Fountaine Pajot departments then work together, from design office to production to after sales.”
However, Corfa stressed that while Fountaine Pajot takes pride in accompanying and supporting a client along the customisation journey, not all requests can be granted.
“We keep our promises while also managing expectations and giving owners advice, based on our experience. We don’t accept all requests and if we don’t, we explain our reasons, which are mainly linked with important, sensitive issues such as sailing performance, comfort or DNA.”
